This is a very scenic and modern upscale restaurant near the heart of downtown Georgetown. The interior is nicely appointed and understatedly elegant. The inside and outside restaurant and bar areas are expansive but easily outstrip the provided parking. There is also street parking nearby, but don't be surprised if you wind up walking from nearby public lots or garages. I can easily see this place being packed. We had a reservation and were promptly seated and offered water service. As with most Mexican restaurants, there's an expansive menu, so we ordered drinks while we perused the menu. I found the Encantada margarita to be quite tasty, but it was a bit expensive. At $11 for a single serving with house liquors, closer to what we've come to expect locally for a Mexican martini (theirs was $18 with house, $24 with call). That's a bit over-the-top IMHO. We were offered complimentary chips and salsa; I remember the chips to be excellent, and the red salsa just right for my taste, but others remarked that it was too spicy. Our waitress (Paulina) joked that the only thing less spicy was their ketchup. They also have a green salsa, which is even spicier, but that we all skipped. The food menu has a lot of chef-inspired offerings. I tried the Grilled Chicken Tacos (Grilled Chicken, Cilantro, Onion, Fresco Cheese) at $16. I had one on flour and one on corn to taste the difference in tortillas with the same ingredients, along with a side bowl of black beans. I found them flavorful but also on the small side for the price. Additional tacos are $5 each. No rice was offered. This was one of their least expensive plates. We had a great time and our drink and food service was nothing less than excellent, but I couldn't help but come away feeling that, for a check that tabbed in just under $100 (with tip) we should have had a fuller tummy. Would we come back? Maybe. We'll have to explore their other options and perhaps graze more off the appetizer menu; however, less than $5 separate most of their appetizers from their plate dinners. This is a place to go for a culinary and visual experience, not an everyday meal.

It looked like a place where you'd order at the counter and wait at a table for the food to be delivered. Service was excellent... and we never felt rushed. My friend and I had the same thing... a Pezcador. This is a piece of crispy fried cod with avocado salsa, slaw, and mango pico in an 8 inch flour tortilla. The toppings were generously piled atop the fish, and tasted very fresh. I took my time savoring my taco. We also had a half order of chips and queso. The queso was thinner than I'd have liked when it was warm, but thickened up as it sat. 2 tacos would likely have been too much food for each of us, so having the chips rounded things out. We appreciated the advice of our waiter. While the menu is limited, the pricing is very good for what you get.

The tasty Salsa Roja and chips wetted our appetite while our tacos were being freshly prepared. The mole taco was better than comparable mole tacos that we've eaten in interior Mexico. Literally the best that we've ever eaten. The Gobenador taco, with the lightly breaded shrimp bursts with flavor. I overcooking here and better than those offered on Mexico's pacific coast. The highly recommended Quesabirria taco melts in your mouth with abundant flavor. The elote was the perfect complement to our tacos, tasting fresh off the grill. No preparation corners here, with even the corn and flour tortillas made freshly in-house. A visit by joint owner/proprietor Erica at our table was a welcomed surprise, providing origins and insights to the unique twists to traditional Mexican tacos that standout above the rest. Usually, I get the chicken and dumplings. I was celebrating getting a new job so, I got the ribeye. I ordered it medium rare. Unfortunately, the cut wasn't good. It was thin and had thick gristle, throughout. I assumed that I would need salt. I asked for flakey salt. The sweet waitress/bartender, brought me kosher salt in a nice container. The salt helped! However, the steak was too far gone to help. It was closer to medium and, again, the cut was bad. (Note: I didn't complain! I'm sure that if I would have, they would have done anything to correct it!) The positives? The green beans were AMAZING! Still a bit crispy and tasted great! The mashed potato's were good. I ordered an Old Fashioned. It was wonderful! The service couldn't have been better! I love the bar side of Wildfire! The seating can be private or meant for people watching. It's very comfortable! All in all, this is the place to go! The service is always amazing! I didn't enjoy the ribeye but, I'm a steak snob. Wildfire will always be my "go to" spot! They charge a fee to use card--but also do not give the coin portion of your change--which I kinda feel is another fee just to pay cash. Last I checked they still make nickels, dimes, and quarters. This spot is a little out of the way so I don't think that we would return.
