This is a great place to come in Georgetown when you just want to enjoy a good glass of wine and watch the people walking by around the square. The square is incredibly active with all kinds of restaurants and people are always taking pictures in front of the courthouse, so being able to either sit inside of the air conditioning and watch out or sit outside at a table and just enjoy whatever wine you prefer isn't easy way to spend the evening. They do have some light snacks like a charcuterie, board and pizza, but there are other restaurants around if you need a full meal if you just wanna come relax on the Square have a nice glass of something and watch an evening fade in the night, I'd start here. read more

This is a really nice venue on The Square in Georgetown. The by-the-glass prices are high. $14/glass for a light pour of decent wine is a little much. Our bartender was not the friendliest either. My wife really liked their Fredericksburg winery, she went there on a bachelorette party and said it was gorgeous and the wines were good. My Zinfandel was good tonight, and she had the barbera, also good-not-great. They have a nice layout and we would come back. Came here for the first time Saturday afternoon with a 3:30 reservation. When we walked in, it was busy but not packed. We stood by the door awkwardly bc there was no hostess or signage telling you what to do until a bartender yelled "grab any table". We waited over ten minutes for someone to come to our table, and when I informed her that we had a 3:30 reservation she just shrugged and said okay. Meanwhile, other tables were marked reserved and had glasware and plate are laid out and we got nothing. When we made the reservation it asked if it was a special occasion- it was, our anniversary- and that was ignored and never acknowledged. Couldn't be, because she never even asked our names. We did the mixed tasting and the wines were good- I really liked the crazy train and would drink that bday. Also found the charcuterie and cheese board to be good for $22 price point. However, our service was just so slow. She told us NOTHING about the wines. Her pours were very uneven. This was not a wine tasting it was us basically getting a flight of a wine. The wine and food were both impressive -- great flavors and well-paired selections. However, the service left much to be desired. Despite it being early afternoon on a Friday, and not particularly busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. We waited far too long between tastings, and at one point, employees were eating behind the bar while we stood waiting for our next pour. It felt unprofessional and took away from what could have been a really enjoyable experience. Barons Creek was our first stop on a planned wine tasting adventure around the square. We were greeted by our sommelier Tom, seated, and the tasting process explained. Tom provided a charming mixture of highbrow wine knowledge and light humor as he took us through our tasting journey of 5 red wines. The wife liked all of the wines, and I liked all but one (a tempranillo). Never fear! Tom is here! Tom saved the day (and the Tres Primos reputation) by pouring us an extra taste, but instructing us to first chew a chocolate-covered coffee bean before pouring the wine across that bean in our mouths. This somehow transformed the flavour into something amazingly pleasing for us both! We also ordered chicken empanadas, which were surprisingly delicious! For some reason we did not expect such flavor and complexity from a wine bar's kitchen. The empanada crust was crispy and flaky, with a filling of chopped chicken, onions and seasonings that burst into the mouth with each bite. This was no Tex-Mex kitchen empanada. Hats off Barons! Had a reservation for a tasting at 5:00PM on a Saturday and there were a lot of people there. It was so noisy I could barely hear my wife. The ambience was terrible. The server was fine and that's why I give it even 2 stars. The five 1 oz. pours of mediocre wine was a very poor value for $25 for each one of us. Basically turns out to be $25 for a glass of wine. Additionally, each of the red wines we tasted were $45 per bottle or more for what I'll repeat, are mediocre wines at best. Oh, and the Charcuterie board was $35....please.
