It's been a while that I have gone to eat here. It was newly opened up and my love for Italian food made me wanna try it. So I stopped it for lunch one day and ordered one of my favorites. Spaghetti Bolognese. There's not a lot of seating there. Table and chairs are pretty ordinary. Where I sat I had a full view of the kitchen. I don't think they hired all their wait staff yet because I was waited on by someone from the kitchen. Besides the meal, I ordered an iced tea. It didn't take too long for the food to be served. I wasn't sure if this was a good thing or bad because supposedly the pasta is handmade. It was brought to me and my first thought was how small the portion was. But then I figured I would have no leftovers so no big deal. I took my first flight and it was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked just right not too mushy not too well Al denta. And the Bolognese sauce was so meaty. I have to mention that because most places don't make a good Bolognese sauce. This tasted exactly like the kind I make it home, which is thanks to Anne Burrell's recipe. I finished the whole bowl. Here's the downside. That bowl cost me $20. There was no salad nor bread served with this lunch. Just a small bowl of pasta. I know prices have gone up, but that was ridiculous. I'm glad I came and tried it. Such a hidden gem tucked away in a strip center. They make their pasta fresh onsite and they cook it to perfection. Service is so friendly, helpful, and honest. I had the best spaghetti carbonara I've had in the Austin metro area, no cream or peas like so many places put in it for whatever reason. The dining area is charming and clean and the service is friendly and helpful (including when I screwed up at checkout and they had to cancel/re-run the ticket!) First of all, I love supporting small local businesses and this place definitely hits the spot. The owner I believe is Italian and was so personable. They serve fresh handmade pasta as we were looking for a place similar to Patrizi but closer up north. And Dough it Up definitely hit the spot in terms of a place that is serving handmade pasta that is very well done. You start by ordering at the counter and you can choose which type of pasta and which type of sauce you would like. You can definitely modify the menu to what suits you for example I wanted pasta with tomato sauce, but did not want vegan cheese and they were able to adjust so that I could have handmade fettuccine with tomato sauce and real Parmesan cheese. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce had a right balance of acidity and sweetness from the basil. The potion size was just right. The tiramisu was also very good as it was not too watery with espresso, even though I did not think it needed the chocolate sauce. The texture of the tiramisu was perfect. My husband got the Bolognese and enjoyed it as well though he thought the Bolognese in bologna was better, but does that surprise anyone? No you can't beat wherever the dish originated from. Can't wait to go back to try more pasta, dishes, and curious to know how the pizza is. Parking is free as it is in a strip mall. Restaurant is on the smaller side so wouldn't recommend it for groups larger than 6. read more

We happened to find Dough It Up while doing a quick search of what to eat close to Lakeline Park, and what a fortuitous find! We went around 5 PM with just a few other diners around us, but by the time we finished eating the place was packed! So, if you want to beat the rush, come early! Ordering is done at the counter, and then you find your seat and the food is brought to you. I actually sat down first, but the server was nice and walked up to me, explained the process, and provided a menu as well as shared some recommendations. We started with the Real Greek Salad, which was very refreshing and helped provide balance to the carbs but a bit pricy. For appetizers we ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana which for a vegan dish was very impressive as the eggplant was so meaty and the sauce was super delicious, this was actually my favorite thing I had here. For pastas, we ordered the Carbonara which was super creamy and rich. We ordered the red pasta with tomato and basil, and the best part of the dish were the meatballs which were the most tender I've had. All the pasta was cooked more al dente, so definitely a bit chewier but resembled that of what I had in Italy! The Homemade Lasagna was full of deliciously tender layers of pasta, meat, and cheese, also a winner. The things that I'd probably pass on would be the fries and ordering extra focaccia as the bread was a bit dense for me liking...but then again I am no expert. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with this meal. We actually talked to the owner who is originally from Italy, and you can tell she really cooks with her heart and taste it in her food. Solid spot that just opened up in the CP Lakeline area for Italian food that nona would approve of! The sweetest owners and crew were very helpful in assisting with our order taking. Dough it up's space is a little cozy and can be a tight fit at peak dinner hours, advise coming early because by the time we finished our meal, folks were hunting down our table and bussing up the dishes we left. You order at counter and then pick a table to sit at after, which I noticed there were several people who were confused and waiting for someone to greet them, but then realized this spot was counter service. The prices are a bit higher than we anticipated but we recognize the labor and effort in terms of quality of dishes and agree that it justifies the costs. We loved the pastas, cooked perfectly. I didn't really feel we should've gotten the garlic bread and fries, and the extra bread we paid for with our pasta dish, made me regret my picks so wish the staff had talked us out of this as this was too much bread for our meal. This was honestly our second attempt at eating here because the first time we came by a few weeks ago they were packed with a line out the door and standing room only. Know we know why. This was a great date night spot, but we also saw families sharing meals around large tables. Which were honestly really nice - big table = plenty of room for all the deliciousness they're going to bring you. Fresh pasta in a variety of sauces that were great. I ordered the fettuccini with their chicken pesto, and my hubby got the carbonara with their spaghetti at the recommendation of one of their employees. They did not disappoint. The pesto was rich, the chicken was tender, and the fettuccini was perfectly cooked. The spaghetti was a little more toothsome than what we had imagined, putting it probably just shy of the line of al dente - so maybe that could have cooked a few seconds longer. I didn't mind though! Both dishes were very yummy. My hubby commented that he would have like some Parmesan at the table, but we also never asked for extra, so that's on us. We also ordered a cheese pizza because when we walked in we smelled a pizza that had just arrived at a nearby table and it looked amazing! It was. We said we were going to take some home for our kids...but it didn't make it. We did have some leftovers, and I'm looking forward to a second serving of the tender chicken and creamy pesto with fettuccini. I didn't mind ordering at the counter, and felt like we waited an appropriate amount of time for our food. Get the pizza. While on the smaller side, this restaurant feels spacious and bright. You order at the counter. They seem to do a lot of to-go orders, which seems like the way to go since there is very little table service - food is brought out to your table and they will fill your water. I had to ask for a plate for my pizza that is enough for two people. I guess I was supposed to eat over an entire pizza. The cheese pizza is fantastic. Get this. We also had the meatball topping, but it was greasy like sausage. The lasagna is $20, extremely watery, and the homemade pasta was mushy kind of the same texture of the cheese. The lasagna was a terrible textural experience. Maybe we should have said something, but again no service and weird to go to counter and complain about food. We will never eat in again, or order pasta dishes, but we will be ordering many pizzas - probably weekly. Seriously, get the pizza. read more

Sometimes you get lucky and find that needle in the haystack. This place is that needle. In fact, it's a golden needle. The surroundings don't fit the food. Not that the surroundings are Danny, they aren't. But they aren't as upscale as the food. It's an order at the counter place, but at the same time they do service the dining room, and the night I was there the young lady tackling that task was absolutely delightful. Very attentive combined with a great attitude. The owner was there, and she delightful, helpful, and you get the passion for the food she brings to her creation. We had a table of four, and everyone said their's was great. I think I won the night with one of the nightly specials, the risotto with sausage. The pastas are homemade, the sauces are homemade, and spectacular. For a four month old place, it seemed to hitting on all cylinders, kind of like the Italian classic Ferrari. The good is great, the service is as well, but it also has a great feel and vibe to the place. I wish I lived closer, but I will be back. And hopefully sooner rather than later. read more

Fresh pasta is beyond compare, really enjoyed it and the sauce was amazing. Same for the pizza, nice crispy crust but not overly crunchy. Tons of fresh ingredients and lovely flavor. Staff was overly apologetic as they were working out the kinks of the opening weekend, but honestly it wasn't bad at all. Met Tom (great guy) and love their story. Beyond the texture issues, the ratio of ingredients within the pasta felt off, and the portions were quite tiny for the price point. ​We also found the inclusion of a Greek salad on the menu to be a bit out of place, and the dish itself was underwhelming. We saw it when we pulled up and I asked my wife if she wanted to try it. So glad we did. First it is a counter order location. Not my favorite. Then first thing I noticed it said homemade pasta and sauces. Looking at the menu I thought the prices seem a bit expensive for this part of Austin. But we ordered an order of Meatballs and Spaghetti and an order of Chicken and Mushroom with Mascarpone Penne and 2 iced teas. The iced teas arrived and we didnt like the flavor of the teas. But they replaced with sodas. But when the food arrived the magic began. The pastas and the sauces where truly homemade. The spaghetti was thicker than commercial spaghetti and the meat balls where filled with great flavor and spice. The absolutely best part they know how to cook pasta which came out perfect Al Dente. The quality and flavor of the experience totally justified the slightly higher prices. The portions where large and filling. Must say best Meatball and Spaghetti i have had in Texas. Reminds me of northern Italy. My wife was going on about how good her Chicken Mascarpone was comparing it to our favorite place in Florence.
