We got the meatball appetizers, a Caesar salad, and our own pasta dishes. The meatballs were good but did taste like they were pre-made frozen. The Caesar salad was disappointing. It was just iceberg lettuce with croutons and dressing in the side. The build your own pasta dishes were fantastic! The service was not great however, and this wasn't a unique experience as we've been here before and experienced poor service. Our waitress started out attentive but after our appetizers came, she didn't come back for about 15-20 mins to take our order. Our main dishes took about 30 minutes to come out. Once they did we never saw our waitress afterwards. We waited about 30-45 more mins and then we finally went to go find her to ask for to go boxes and the check. All in all we were there for about two hours, but not for good reason. I think this place has great potential, they just need to better train their staff to be more attentive. read more

Absolutely disgusted with my recent order from Palermo and then you have the audacity to not answer the phone. I order the same 2 items from Palermo, lasagna and a pizza either ricotta, fennel sausage and pepperoni. I should have known that my food would be subpar when they had to check if they were still taking to go orders at 5:00pm. My spouse picked up the order so had no idea of what to expect but when they got home not only was there no bag with bread and Parmesan cheese, I just knew it was a show. Why is there cheese wiz on top of the pizza, why is the food cold and where is the bread etc. Palermo, you should absolutely be ashamed of your restaurant. If you can't do it right because you're closing, say that. But don't sell BS on a platter for $50 and expect a customer to just take it. The noodles were perfectly al dente and the sauce was so creamy and light without being over salty or bland. Something that can be surprisingly, very difficult to accomplish!! Located in downtown round rock, there's definitely free parking around, but you just might need to drive a little further down to find something. But it wasn't too busy on a Thursday night and we were able to be seated immediately. I love the complimentary bread, so so good with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar at the table. And nice to snack on while you try to figure out what to order because there are just so many options and combinations on the menu. Though I do wish that more pasta dishes came with meat. You can add meat for an extra $5 but that kinda seems like a lot to me. The dishes are delicious though. The pasta, I believe, is made in house, and the texture is just so nice. It had a really good chew to it and just tasted fresh. The sauces are good too. My friend got the pink mushroom, and the tomato sauce was so rich. We got food to go so I can't comment on the service. The food was a huge disappointment. I have had fresh pasta before so my expectations were high. I got a Caesar salad and the cannelloni. My son got the chicken Alfredo with the fusilli pasta. The Alfredo sauce had ZERO flavor. Seriously, I have made better from the jar after adding some fresh seasoning. We came here on a whim and were NOT disappointed. I didn't take photos until we had already started eating. Our server was very sweet and made awesome recommendations. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli with scarparo sauce- which is pesto and tomato basil cream. Absolutely delicious! The ravioli was so tender and the filling wasn't heavy. My husband had fettuccine carbonara, his favorite, and he ate every bite and dipped up the rest of the sauce with bread. Our kids had flatbreads and enjoyed them. The dulce de leche cannoli was very sweet, but also very tasty. Husband reports that the tiramisu is good, and the best part is that you can get it to go as well. We'd definitely eat here again. Parking garage available just diagonally so if you don't find street parking, don't worry plenty of space in garage. Upon entry, We were told that only bar space available or patio, we chose patio as weather was ok. Menu is pretty diverse for vegetarian options so we thought of mixing it with a salad and pasta. We got Meg's salad which has Romaine lettuce, spring mix, tomatoes, roasted red pepper, spicy caramelized pecans and feta, price is $15. Along with that, we got tomato basil pasta with taglierini type of pasta. We asked for Fusilli but they ran out of this one. Pasta was not good. No flavor at all. Even the sauce felt pretty standard out of can and just poured over boiled pasta. Something that I wasn't expecting from a famous Italian restaurant. Meg salad has tons of pecans. Balsamic vinaigrette dressing on side went pretty good. Was definitely better than the pasta. I couldn't even finish the pecans. The first complimentary bread pieces we got was pretty cold, we asked for refill and next batch was warm. Our service was also not great. We got a seat at the edge of patio and they were a lot of mosquitoes and fly's. At first we ignored but we were not able to eat anything because of this. We moved to a different table ourselves, waitress came afterwards and she didn't ask once what was the reason or if we needed anything else. Overall pretty bad service+ not good food. Palermo Pasra House is situated in downtown Round Rock on the main drag. We arrived just before noon and were promptly seated. The interior design is dark and would benefit from an update. The calzone was very large and delicious. So good I took one home for the wife! I ordered ravioli with italian ham and mushroom sauce. It was a hard fail. I went here with a couple of friends because we heard a lot of great reviews about this place. I love arrabiata and I know I ordered the wrong noodles with this dish. I didn't realize when the server recommended me the fusilli it was a short pasta. That's totally on me for not double checking that. This was not spicy at all, so it was just a really good tomato sauce pasta. I could tell the tomato sauce was good quality. The bread rolls weren't too bad, but I kinda wish they were more buttery. I tried the carbonara and I feel like it was more saucy than I would have liked. The amatriciana was a little salty, but it did have a kick which is nice. The Dulce De Leche Cannoli was really good, but super rich. The caramel was nice and creamy, the cannoli was nice and crispy too. read more

A pretty authentic pasta shop in round rock. The brick and mortar shop is very comfy, and when we went on a Thursday it was super packed. Definitely try to call in and reserve if you can. The pasta tasted very fresh, and I would recommend getting the Palermo again. read more

I was really disappointed with my experience at Palermo. We were told there was a booth reserved for us, so we waited at the bar. After waiting for 45 minutes we were told we could order food at the bar -- but that we couldn't be seated in our supposedly reserved booth and order the same things there. It was confusing and frustrating. If the booth was reserved, it didn't make sense that we couldn't actually sit there and order. The lack of communication and consistency made the experience feel disorganized and unwelcoming. Palermo might have good food, but the service and management approach really need improvement. Highly suggest replacing the gal at the front as it seems the wait staff was just as frustrated with her as we were. read more

The pasta was outstanding! Very fresh and better than anything I've had outside of Italy. The menu is great and allows you to customize your own pasta dish with six choices of pasta, over twenty sauces, plus meats. The servers were very friendly. My brother and I eat here and it is absolutely delicious. Staff is amazing and very welcoming. This is a hidden gem in Round Rock. It's right next to the parking garage and very easy access! If its a pretty day they also have a covered patio. Keep in mind each family Italian restaurant has different variations of recipes. My friend and I came last night because Palermo has been in my bookmarks for a long time, and we were both craving pasta! I had no idea Round Rock had a mini downtown, but it's so cute. We came around 7:30pm on a Thursday night, and there was a 30-minute wait. Overall, my friend and I rated Palermo 7/10. We ordered their calzone with pepperoni and fennel sausage, and my friend LOVED their fennel sausage (that is apparently made in-house!). The calzone bread was really nice and thick, and there was plenty of meat inside. We did think it wasn't seasoned as well, but we added red pepper flakes and that made a difference. I ordered the thin pasta noodles with palermo sauce, and I was really not a fan of the sauce. It's hard to explain, but there was an aftertaste that I wasn't used to. The pasta noodles, however, were awesome. You can definitely tell the difference between handmade noodles and boxed noodles. I ended up switching with my friend, and I'm so glad we did because he liked my pasta more. I really liked his pasta with sausage and pepper sauce. So I did takeout because this spot is so popular they couldn't seat us. Having said that, maybe the experience of dining in would have bene better than take out but I really was not impressed with the pasta and flavors so that is why they lost some stars, because I really had nothing else to review. Palermo Pasta House is hands down the best pasta I've experienced in the Austin area by far. My wife loves pasta/Italian food and already has her go-to spots like Mandola's or Gino, that changed today. The pasta and sauce are stupendous! We got the meatballs and cheese bread for appetizers and that was a positive indicator of what to expect with our main dishes. I highly recommend them as apps. I wanted to try the pizza but that can come on another trip. I got the Pizzaiola spicy red sauce and meatballs on fusilli pasta. My wife got the Ragú Bolognese on fettuccine pasta which was also delicious. There is a display case for desserts, which pretty much was some plain-looking cheesecake. We were too stuffed to think about dessert. Now to get down to it, the worse part of our experience was how long it took for us to be seated and then once we were seated, it took about 20 minutes before we received our main dish. The wait for a seat seems normal and it's a good sign for a busy and popular restaurant, however, the wait time to receive our food might be more of a management issue. Still the food was delicious and the anticipation was definitely building up. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I like the layout and interior decor of the restaurant. I've been wanting to checkout Palermo for awhile and my Uncle's recent visit to town seemed like the perfect excuse to have the family meet there for dinner. We went on a Wed and I got reservations for 6 but it didn't end up being crowded so they weren't really needed. Nice ambience in downtown Round Rock; I've been to the previous few restaurants that were there and this was definitely my favorite. We got meatballs as an appetizer with a few glasses of wine and they also had bread with oil for everyone. To eat, I decided to go a little outside the box from what I'd normally get and got the cream mushroom ravioli. I was waivering on ravioli vs pasta and our waitress said the ravioli was really good which made my mind it. They were filled with meat and were so good. I hardly every eat an entire entree and couldn't help myself this time. My fiance got pasta with peppers and meat and it was also really good. All in all, everyone seemed to really like their meal. So my son and I didn't hesitate and snatched them up right away. We were immediately provided menus and glasses of water. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the menu and offering recommendations. We ended up ordering spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken fettuccine Alfredo and a pizza. Everything was delicious! Both sauces were very unique in flavor and not heavy which was great. Pizza was the same and had a great crisp crust and paired well scraping the left over sauce from the pasta. Only complaints are: -after our food was served we rarely had anyone stop to check on us so I had an empty glass of water for majority of my meal. -the portion sizes are lacking for the price. It's not normal for me to leave an Italian restaurant without leftovers -any additional ingredients for the pizza is +$2. This is a bit much for some chopped up herbs. This was my first visit to the restaurant last night, and I can confidently say it will be my last. I can begin with the fact that I use a walker to help me move about. My husband dropped me off at the curb near the entrance and I walked along the sidewalk and up the ramp to the door. I was going to wait for my husband to assist me with the door but it was too cold to wait until he parked. I summoned my courage and attempted to pull open the door with one hand and hold my walker with the other. Unfortunately, the door was very heavy and I was caught in the doorway. I noticed that the hostess (the older lady at the front door) and another staffer observed me trying to maneuver to get through the door but never moved to assist in any way. A very kind woman ran up behind me and very kindly held the door so that I could finally get inside. I was very disappointed and disturbed by the lack of care or compassion. Fast forward-my husband and the other couple arrived and we sat at the bar. The hostess did quickly seat us at a table. We ordered our meals and everything went fine. That is until we paid our tab and were waiting for our dessert to go for one of our party celebrating their birthday. The same hostess comes to our table and asks so very nicely if we enjoyed the food. Before we could respond she says to us "I have eight people waiting and we need you to leave". We told her we were waiting for the waitress to bring the dessert. At that moment the waitress walked up. We then left, and not once did this hostess show an ounce of respect or customer service you would expect from a reputable restaurant. I will say that our wait staff was very polite, friendly and performed perfectly well. The food was okay but the service was deplorable. I have travelled quite a bit and been to a lot of restaurants (I'm 70 years old), and this is the first time I've been asked to leave or be kicked out for any reason and certainly not because it's crowded! read more
