Beautiful restaurant. Friendly service. Food- meh. Lasagna was odd. It was a mix of Alfredo and marinara with soggy noodles. Kids spaghetti and meatballs was frozen meatballs, not actual meatballs. Do not get the pasta mafia. The fettuccine is a weird mix of bell peppers, green onion, Alfredo, and chili oil- all mixed together. The steak is laid on top and the broccoli- unseasoned- on the sides of the dish. I question the beef. The highlight of the meal was the garlic bread. It was absolutely delicious and had us thinking we were in for a fabulous meal, but all of us were disappointed. Please work on your description of the food so people have a more accurate understanding of what they are getting. read more

Inside the Kalahari resort in RoundRock Texas this is a pretty good Italian option. The Kalahari has really got it going on, lots to do, a great convention space, and good food options! It is not cheap but it is well done! While I was here for a company event I had the opportunity to hold a dinner for many of our team at this establishment. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and very good at taking care of our 10 person group. The food was VERY GOOD! I had a seafood pasta that was more than I could have ever hoped to eat but it was outstanding. All 10 of us loved our food. The venue itself was clean, well maintained, and up to date. It was a great option for the group and we didn't have to leave the resort! Being a resort venue it was a bit high priced! But the convenience helped to make up for some of that. read more

We got a spot right away at the bar. The bartender was super attentive to us, and our food and drinks got to us quickly. We weren't rushing or anything. We were enjoying and taking our time. We got in and out in like 20-30 minutes. All the servers were friendly. The food was decent. The bolognese tasted a little salty, and the carbonara tasted good but a little too rich. The calamari was perfect, and I enjoyed that the most. My only real complaint is I think the food is overpriced. Otherwise, it's a great family sit-down place with decent food! read more

First time trying this restaurant, I have to say I an impressed, the quality of service and their kitchen have to n point flavors. Sam our waitress, she never keep asking if something was missing or if we needed something extra. What meal will not go well when you have someone taking care of you and your family like this. So this place was not necessarily where we were headed to but seemed a better drive choice given the cold breezy rainy evening. Gps also thought we should park behind the building and walk from dont know where but oh well... we figured it out and also eventually find out they validate valet parking! Anywho coming to the main point.. food. And drinks. Food was delicious and drinks were mouth smacking mm mmm mmmm wow! We had ordered some fettuccine special and cheese ravioli. The food while being tasty can definitely use 3-4 more spoons of serving. Drinks were made to perfection: cucumber vespa was really refreshing and would make a great summer sit on the patio and enjoy drink. Sicilian sour really surprised us in a good way. The love dip is dressed up olive oil dip but in an enjoyable way. We casually mentioned about how it was our anniversary dinner and the server was so sweet to surprise us with a cupcake dessert. I have eaten at the quick service Sortino's twice now, as they are one of only two restaurants open at Kalahari during the weekday for lunch. The food is fine, service is now basically completely automated using touch screens and buzzers. My major problem is, why are we still using single-use plastic? I ordered a salad and it came in a heavy plastic container with a lid, and now I am forced to throw something away after a 15-minute meal that will not only outlive me, my children, and Kalahari, but also pollute our planet in the process. This little Italian restaurant is tucked into the "convention center" side of Kalahari, which lends towards making it a more upscale atmosphere, better for adults looking for a bite to eat in a more romantic place and less of a kid-friendly haven that you tend to find on the other side of the complex. The wait was unusually long despite how relatively empty the place was, which was disappointing. I don't know what happened, but they comped us bread as an apology. That was weird to me, because so many Italian restaurants serve bread and olive oil, but this place charges for it? I went with the swordfish entree, aiming for something that I normally wouldn't get elsewhere. The portion was much smaller than I expected for the price, which was a bit disappointing. It was amply flavored and well grilled, though. My wife wasn't as lucky with her seafood pasta dish, which was clearly lacking some seasoning. Once we got seated, the service was very attentive and the waitress made sure that we had a good experience. This could easily be a five star restaurant once they work out some of the kinks, and maybe turn the "free bread" into a regular thing instead of an apology when there's unusually long waits. read more

Kalahari Resort has so many amazing food options, and I'm loving exploring them all! I tried Sortino's Italian Kitchen and it did not disappoint. I ordered the ravioli, and it was absolutely on point--so fresh and delicious. The employees were super friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I have mixed feelings about the food and wine. The bruschetta was very good and my wife enjoyed the seafood diavlo. My stuffed shells however were very over-salted. I'm pretty sure it was the sausage filling. The wines were likewise a mixed bag. My wife had a Pinot noir that was good but the Chianti I had was not one of the better ones I've had. I may have just picked the wrong things. read more

I haven't eaten their actual "Italian cuisine." But we always get the pizza when staying at the resort. I think it's better than the pizza from the pool area, and it's also way cheaper! Their 14in pizza will feed a family of 3 or 4 because their crust is pretty thick. It's also one of the cheapest places to feed a family at Kalahari. They will deliver it to your room for a fee, but I find it easier to just walk down and grab it. Definitely should be on your list if you are staying at Kalahari, don't want to leave, and want to eat as cheap as possible. Great pizza too actually; better than Dominos or something similar. read more

Lovely little restaurant on site at Kalahri. The complimentary bread was made with a super sour cheese and the olive oil was very strong, so it wasn't child friendly. Pizza was well made and tasted delicious. Service was good, but prices were quite high for what you got. read more

This restaurant is located in the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock. The food was amazing! The bread cannot be beat and the service was great! We had the Sangria (Red) which is house-made and so refreshing. The Bolognese (slow-cooked beef, veal and pork, rigatoni) had a lot of flavor. The Lasagna Bolognese was also really good with lasagna layered with beef, veal and pork sauce, with ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella. We definitely had leftovers, but will try the Shrimp Scampi on our next visit. The service does not disappoint. All the staff was friendly and very welcoming from the moment you walk into the establishment. read more

I've always enjoyed the pizza at the Sortino's restaurant. We had gone several times in the past and the very last time we went was several months ago. I remember it being thick, freshly baked and great pepperoni. But today it was so thin and greasy with tiny pepperonis on top which I never remember it looking or tasting like this in the past. It reminded me of the Sortino's pizzeria which is next door to them. I have tried that pizza and it is cheap tasting and not good. So I'm not sure what they did here in the Sortino's restaurant but I will not go back for the pizza here. This is NOT the delicious pizza they used to serve. Came here as the group decided to come to this spot for my kid's dancing performance competition as a post event restaurant. It has a nice interior and settings, and is located in a nice resort. Unfortunately the food tasted unmatched to its looks and price. However, the food was prepared and placed in the dish with very decent style. Good for dating I guess? Fabulous looks without firm/real contents as I would like to call it. Service was decent, the lady bartender that night was very nice and offered requested water on the spot. However, the server forgot my kid's order and brought it to the wrong table. No point deducted from that as we understood they were busy servicing a big group. read more

The people were friendly, but the food was forgettable. --- --- --- I wasn't super hungry going into this dinner, so I planned on ordering something I can always eat even without hunger: pizza. But my wife was physically in pain trying to decide which pasta to order, so I wanted to be nice and order one of her backup options, so she could try two of them. I opted for the Seafood Diavalo, which was a top highlight on Yelp and a recommendation from the server. As it turned out, I wished I'd ordered the pizza. We got our son a kid's pizza and it was my favorite thing. I have never had this specific dish before, so maybe I am just not familiar with what it's supposed to taste like. But I found it to just be a bit on the bland side and left me wanting more. My wife ordered the Pasta Mafia, which I enjoyed very slightly more, but wasn't enthralled. The server was very friendly and two different managers came to check on us during the meal, which was nice. But if I'm being honest, I think the mediocre overall rating tells an accurate story here: this is a resort restaurant that gets a steady stream of people through its doors because of its convenience, not because it serves excellent pasta. read more

First, my server Waleed K was excellent. We stopped in while in Kalahari, my daughter like me loves pasta, and they did not disappoint! I knew I was in for a treat when I ordered the fried cheese and it didn't taste like it was out of a box. My daughter's food was delightful. My wife and I had the Pasta Mafia, and it was to die for. Steak cooked to perfection and, and homemade pasta! All topped of with impeccable service from Waleed, he made the night a wonderful experience. If you're in town it's definitely worth a stop. Heck if you're out of town, it's worth the roadtrip. (Next time I'll take pictures) I was truly impressed. read more

This restaurant is beautiful. It definitely didn't feel like we were at the Kalahari resort. It was bright, clean, and beautiful. The staff we encountered was just as nice. Our waiter Lalo, was very attentive and gave great suggestions on food to try. As far as the food goes, we thought it was good, not great. It wasn't bad by any means and I would eat here again if I visited the resort but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. The calamari was fresh, crisp, delicious. I loved the lemon aioli that accompanied it. The marinara was pretty good too, surprisingly a little spicy. Eggplant parm was okay. The eggplant wasn't soft enough to my liking and one piece was straight skin and I embarrassingly chewed on it for a good 5 mins before I gave up and spit it out. My husband loved his chicka chicka boom, it tasted like buffalo chicken pasta. That might not sound the best but it was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the pasta pockets filled with cheese. My mom got the pasta mafia, it was okay as well. The steak was cooked beautifully but the sauce was a little "meh". It tasted watered down and just lacked in flavor. Alright, so what did I enjoy. The venue is pretty and relaxing. It's interesting, because when you leave the convention the bar side makes you think that's all the seating, when there is another section hidden behind the bar. It's a lot more privacy, which I prefer. The service was kind and the manager kept walking around wanting to know if everything was okay. They do not offer free bread, but because we said the wait was long, the manager offered the free bread! Which was a win for us. Yay, free bread and olive oil! I ordered a seafood diablo/diavoli dish. It had mussels, clams, shrimp, pasta, just what seemed like a very dreamy dish as I craved seafood that night. Everything was cooked, nothing that said, call the health authority. However, I noticed something was off. The food just wasn't seasoned. Maybe that's how Italians eat seafood. Maybe that's how this restaurants make seafood, but the seafood needs spices/seasoning...something more than boiled in water. Once I added a lot of pepper it tasted so much better. I heard however the goat dish was amazing, from a friend who went here with her family. However, my seafood was crying sazon, salt, anything! My husband had the sword fish it was very tiny, but delicately tasty. I think if they added more seasoning to the food and sped up the service, this could easily be a four star restaurant. read more

I understand being busy, but after waiting 45 minutes for my pizza, I went to the counter to ask about it and the cashier was very rude and said they were working on it. Another 5 minutes went by and I saw them put my pizza in the oven, so clearly it had been lost or forgotten. When it was finally done, I asked for my cup because I ordered a drink, and she practically threw my cup at me. My sister and I ordered for takeout and ate our meal in our room at Kalahari Resort. I was blown away by our food!!! My absolute favorite was the bruschetta. Omg, the tomatoes were so sweet and fresh. And the garlic toasts were so savory and complimented the tomatoes. I would come back just for this dish! We also split a small Caesar salad and the stuffed shells with red sauce. Lastly the complimentary bread and olive oil was amazing. I'm reviewing the Pizzeria which apparently is part of Sortino's Italian Kitchen but in real life is a separate establishment (both inside Kalahari Resort). The pizzeria was the ONE restaurant inside Kalahari that my family and I considered affordable, and I'm glad we tried it. The pizza was good, and I got the impression that the sauce is made on-site because the flavor differed slightly from slice to slice. My first slice was "pretty good", but the second? It was the best slice of pizza I've ever tasted, mostly due to the sauce but everything else was just right too. We loved the oversized booth so nobody felt cramped. Employees were efficient and friendly, likely very accustomed to resort guests being unfamiliar with the process. Downsides: (1) ordering at a touch screen kiosk (it's fine for a restaurant you visit often but frustrating for the first time you've been in a particular place), and (2) the absurd price of drinks. Next time we'll skip $4 no-refill drinks and bring our own. read more

Now realize you're going to overpay for what you get here - you're in a resort bubble. After you get over that, what you get is pretty good. I had a cocktail (nice, wide selection and Italian inspired options). The bread service was good - though Parmesan instead of spices in the dipping oil was weird and not as good. My Caesar salad was well sized and flavorful. My main dish (chicken pow pow or something) was pretty good, though it said it had sausage in it and I couldn't find any.
