Chicken Parmigiana Dinner

Good service and excellent food! They were also accommodating. Will definitely be recommending to others.

This place serves up a good variety of your typical Italian dishes. They have an assortment of pastas and pizzas which have plentiful portions. But the superstar here in my opinion is their homemade gelato. Oh my goodness - and I think it's overlooked and bypassed since it's at the very front in the corner. But once I got to sample some - I was so surprised because here I thought I knew what good gelato was but the owner was right - I've never had gelato that good before, and that's what bumped this 4-Star review up to 5-Stars. My co-worker (aka "Bama-DC") loves this place and introduced them to me several months ago. He eats here weekly and always gets the lunch specials - which are pretty solid. Two slices of pizza + drink for $6.99, or 1 pizza & side salad + drink for the same price. We've been here on a few visits and I've been pretty pleased with everything so far. DC likes the meat combo and buffalo chicken pizza. I dig the pizza with Italian ham, I want to try the Alla Vodka Pizza which looks really good. I also liked their square pepperoni pizza very much. There is some excess grease sometimes but it's all good. I've also had their pasta dish with Italian sausage and was pretty happy with it, I couldn't finish it all because they give you a lot of food for your money here. On their website they show to have specials with prices too. On our most recent visit the owner stops over to our table and asks if we've ever tried his homemade gelato. We're like - no - but we're always open to trying new things. Now eating too much sweets during lunch while I'm working isn't my cup of tea so I try to avoid the extra sugar intake - but he let us sample a lot of the flavors and - WOW - I broke my golden dessert rule immediately. His gelato was incredible. I sampled pistachio, lemon, hazelnut, chocolate, cherry, and passion fruit and they were all so creamy good. I thought I've had good gelato in Austin but now that I've had the Real McCoy here in Temple I now know I've never had it this good. The lemon was so lemony and bursting with flavor. The cherry was superb and creamy good. The hazelnut was just phenomenal, so good, the texture is so inviting. The chocolate has bits of chocolate inside, the berry yogurt has that tangy yogurt twist you'd expect from a really good quality yogurt. I was so floored that I asked for 3 scoops even though I had no more room for it. So creamy and light and flavorful, it distinctly separates itself from ice cream and the processed gelato that's in the frozen section at the store. I've had gelato all over the Austin area (and other places as well) and I have to honestly say that this is by the best damn gelato I've ever had, hands down. It will now be my weekly go-to Temple Dessert Treat (TDT).

Nice option for pizza. The fried beef ravioli was probably my favorite. I ordered through a delivery service so no exposure to the restaurant other than the food. Pizza crust was a little dry and didn't have the chewiness of a pizza dough I was looking for. Overall a good pizza for the price point

The garlic bread was really good, but the pizza was just okay. We would come back for the garlic bread and desserts!

Our waitress was "Augie" (short for Augustina) The food was the big surprise. The bread was amazing as was the dipping oil. The garlic butter with honey was wonderful on the bread. We got the tomato soup and it was one of the best I have had in a very long time. We got the eggplant rollitini. The butterfly pasta was the star of the dish. While the eggplant was excellent the butterfly pasta I could have eaten every day. The green beans were a little over cooked but still not bad. I will include a picture of the HUGE slice of chocolate cake I received. I will be eating it for a week. The price for four people was $150. So it was not outrageous. Recommended.

The evening started with a game of Restaurant Hide and Seek. After being seated, we sat for quite a while wondering if we were part of a social experiment--no water, no menus, no acknowledgment. Eventually a waiter arrived and, very honestly, said he was there to take our order because we'd been "ignored." Accurate assessment. We placed our order, and later a woman who appeared to be a manager brought out our appetizer, apologized for no one taking care of us, and said the appetizer would be comped. A very nice gesture--unfortunately one that didn't make it to the bill, where the appetizer showed up like it never heard that conversation. The food itself? Genuinely good. No complaints there. However, my wife's Caesar salad never arrived. She didn't bring it up because, frankly, after the earlier disappearing-staff act, it felt like tempting fate. We paid the bill (about $100), including a surprise 3% credit card fee we didn't see posted anywhere. We opted to take dessert home, mostly because the night already felt complete... enough. Bottom line: the food has real potential, but the service needs leadership, consistency, and maybe a map. It's hard to justify coming back in the future when you factor in parking fees, credit card fees, and the possibility of being politely ignored on a special occasion. It's a shame--good food deserves better service.

I have been driving by this place for MONTHS after a tornado ripped thru this part of Temple. After…read morerefurbishing I heard they changed it up a bit so I suggested to the hubs that we try them out for date night - and MAN were we Supremely happy we did!! This little place is completely redone inside to look like a high class bar and dinner venue!! We stared w the Ahi Tuna Crudo - super fresh Ahi tuna beautifully presented with a surprising and refreshing arrangement of pickled celery, and sweet Italian peppers, served over a delicate avocado puree and tiny dots of citrus ponzu. The plate was Beautiful! Our next adventure; lightly charred pieces of octopus atop slightly pureed cannelloni beans. Now this is an unlikely and unusual pairing, but it WORKS!! SPLENDIDLY!! And again, the presentation is beautiful Generous portions of octopus with a char that gives it a slight smokiness and perfectly cooked to make for a tender bite and with the puree? Not since Italy have we been so amazed!! The saltiness with hints of chilis in the background, the texture of the beans, the slight chew and smoothness of the octopus; an elevated flavor combo that knocks it out the Park! As we wait for our main courses the restaurant fills with patrons and I'm gazing around, noting the Huge pizza oven. It's rustic and beautifully made; tiny tiles overlaying its upper surface making for a gorgeous and impressive visual in the midst of the bustling kitchen. I love that it is used as a WALL of sorts on its outer edge. I also love that one has a view of the kitchen via a smallish viewing glass next to the oven. Another site is the bar! Now mind you. This is TEMPLE. But this bar, and really the entire inside of this establishment is something you'd expect to see in the bigger cities like Austin or Dallas!! It's Truly a class act!! White linen clad tables, servers dressed black and white, beautiful decor. Not something you would expect in this area!! Our awesome server Austin takes excellent care of us; taking the time to stop in often to chat and share with us his wanderings, life experiences, and Menu Expertise!! We love the interaction! And then Austin brings out our MAINS!! And OH MAN GUYS.... First up is the Osso Bucco. I've had Osso Bucco in many places; I've MADE Osso Bucco. This is PERFECTION. Not too much demi which is almost ALWAYS the case, in stead of Drowning in the sauce this dish gives just enough so that you can scoop up perfect bites of light and creamy polenta. Not a trace of its gritty source this polenta is airy and buttery smooth promoting mere corn to another level altogether. The Real Star here tho is the Veal Shank. We are presented with lavish portion - the shank bone is served with a tiny bone fork alongside; given to scoop out the unctuous velvety richness that is the inner MARROW!!! And when I say wow? I mean WOWWWWWWW The flavor of the shank is a consume of beefy richness with hints of herbs As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVED the veal tho? The homemade pasta stole it for me honestly. Now, my hubs and I are blessed enough to go to Italy a couple times a year, and we have YET to taste pasta like this!! La Riv makes their own pasta in house and GUYSSSSSSSS we tried the Pappardelle with beef rib; Gorgeous braised beef chunks swimming in a delicate jus and herb ricotta to mix in. The beef is melt in your mouth tender while the Pappardelle has a slight bite telling you it is FRESH!! I LOVE the texture of this pasta. It is my favorite of the pasta cuts and I just could not get enough!!! But I had to hold myself back so I wouldn't eat ALL of hubs dish!! We absolutely Love this little Gem on W Adams in Temple. It's unassuming but I Guarantee will knock your socks off!! The staff are wonderful, and your taste buds will be treated to a Real Italian Flavor Adventure!!

The food was fabulous. Highly recommend the ravioli which is made fresh in house. We added salmon to the ravioli order. Salmon was a nice thick cut and not overcooked. Polenta was creamy and savory. The pizza is rustic style and such a treat. I was surprised the Caesar salad didn't come with anchovies as most upscale restaurants serve it like this. I did not care for the spice on the broccolini - I was not expecting it. The broccolini has a beautiful smoky charred flavor with pine nuts and they put some sort of spicy chili oil on it that I found distracting. Great wine list and cocktails but I wish they could expand their wine by the glass menu. Hopefully they offer a rotating seasonal menu because it seems they keep the menu pretty tight, which is ok with me as long as they change it up a couple times a year.

They also have a nice outside area which would be nice in spring/summer time. Our waitress was Riley who has been with them for 2 years and was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was spot on the whole night. Had our drinks my wife the Appleton and I had Dewars and soda. Bartender knows their stuff and does not skimp. Appetizers were Risotto Tots, Very good, also to large crab cake with remoulade sauce, excellent. Shrimp scampi was excellent and very filling. They have a very diverse menu for varying appetites. Highly recommend eating at this establishment. 5 stars plus. Keep up the great work.

Since it's a small space and echoey, we could not hear ourselves over the group of people talking. Drinks: We started with the Queen Bee cocktail and a red wine. The cocktail was good but I didn't feel the mixture of flavors worked well for my taste. I can't recall the name of the wine but it was a nice wine to pair with red meat. Appetizers: we started with the fried green tomatoes and the Caesar wedge salad. The tomatoes were a little bland and came out cold (not sure if that was on purpose?). The wedge was good but was slathered in dressing which made it a little too rich. *Side note: I realized after we left that complimentary bread was mentioned on the appetizer menu, but I'm unclear if we had to ask for that...? It was never offered nor brought out. I decided against ordering the French baguette because I assumed there was complimentary bread. Entrees: I had the Ravioli Diablo and my husband tried the Sea Bass special that came with clams, mussels and lobster ravioli. The Ravioli Diablo was just OK, kind of a small portion. For the special, he liked the mussels but thought the sea bass was a little overdone. In hindsight, there was a lot going on with that plate; the ravioli was a bit out of place and it could've used a nice risotto or rice instead. Dessert: we tried ordering Creme brulee but they were out so we ordered the "brown butter" cheesecake instead...I'm including the description from the menu and a picture of the bare cheesecake loaf I received with no toppings (I took the picture after my husband took a bite). I'm actually most disappointed about this since I was hoping it would be the part of the meal to make up for the mediocrity of everything else. "Vanilla bean brown butter with candied pecans and soft whipped cream" Honestly I tried to be optimistic but it was overall not the experience I was hoping for. Especially for a $200 bill.
