Pac-Man arcade game!
Krystal S.

This location is a breath of fresh air compared to the location that use to be open in Leander. First of all, this location is more open and well lit. The decorations are nicer and I really love that they have a Pac-Man arcade game...win! One of my biggest issues with the Leander location was the staff. This location was NOT like that. The server we had was very friendly, positive, helpful, and attentive. We didn't feel like we were a burden simply for showing up. I noticed a regular walk in and our server said "hello" to him by name. It says something to me for a place to have regulars that are known by name. It had been years since we have been to a Mouton's. I suggested it to my husband because I knew it was close to our chiropractor anyway. We got the chicken bacon biscuit each and oh my, my, my, my, my...our mouths were very, very happy with our choice. The egg was cooked to perfection for both of us too. They seem to actually know how to cook an over medium egg. Oh and the bacon isn't flimsy bacon tasting paper either, it is thick cut and delicious! Definitely one of my favorites! Such a treat to have once in a while.

Surprised by some of the recent low star reviews! We stopped in on a Friday evening, not too crowded, service was good, food was too. Fried green tomatoes, a fav, covered in some creole crawfish sauce... delicious! We shared the catfish platter and shrimp poor boy. Tip of the cap to the poor boy, between the two entrees, the shrimp was the star. The fried catfish, while good, was breaded a little too much, fish inside mushy in places. The seasoned fries were great, I'd go back just for a plate of them. Good meal, all served piping hot, good time, solid 4-star experience! Recommend you try Mouton's!

Beautiful bowl of etoufée

A friend and I went for an early lunch at Mouton's. She'd been there before, but it was my first visit. The strip center restaurant has 2 rooms: a bright one in the bar area in the storefront on the right and a larger, darker space to the left. We chose a booth in the brighter area. The booths there can accommodate maybe 8 people. Our server was the same person who showed us in. She was bubbly and enthusiastic, and did a good job. She seemed to know the menu and was able to make recommendations. We chose a small portion of jambalaya, a full size etoufée, and an order of fries. Everything was perfectly cooked and seemed freshly made. The jambalaya was on the spicy side but very good. This is a place I could easily return to many times, as the menu has lots of tempting options. Nearby parking is pretty limited out front, but there are plenty of spaces in the lot at the far end of the building.

Tonight, service was excellent. Food was yummy. But music selection was distracting and annoying.

Mouton's Cedar Park . Thank you so much for providing live music on the weekends. Check their schedule! December evenings are beautiful on the outdoor patio, and the propane heaters make it so cozy. The atmosphere tonight was festive and holiday-friendly, with everyone clearly enjoying themselves. The food was excellent, and the cocktails were perfectly on point with a holiday twist

Had the steak omelette and enjoyed it very much as it had lots of flavor. The server was attentive and checked on our table on a regular basis. There are plenty of space for various large parties and the location is easy to find.

Ordered on DoorDash and this for real ? Like nothing was even on the plates to be honest. I mean honestly not worth the money.

I'm always looking for some good Cajun food, but I'm not sure this hit every mark. Here's the breakdown of our visit: Bar-like atmosphere. Service was very slow. Gator bites were HORRIBLE - almost all batter. What little meat existed was flattened and extremely chewy. The dipping sauce was delicious. Chicken fried steak was great. Catfish jambalaya was full of flavor. Garlic bread was stale and didn't have good flavor. Texas toast was pretty good. Overall we'd be willing to give it another go, but are not clamoring to find our way back.

We had a wonderful experience at Mouton's Bistro and Bar. We ordered the catfish, calamari, chicken fried steak, green beans, and fried taters--everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable, making it a great place to sit back and relax. The only downside was the timing of the food. My meal came about 10 minutes after my companion's, and since we came to eat together, that was a little disappointing. Other than that, everything was excellent, and I would definitely come back.

This place has a real homey feel to it serving plenty options for carnivores and vegetarians. We ordered the shrimp and grits 3/5 and the French toast with a fried egg. 5/5 Shrimp and grits was okay once the hot sauce was added but by itself the grits were bland and shrimp seemed to be boiled which was weird and I didn't enjoy. I opted to bring it home and throw the shrimp in a skillet for a good seer. Wouldn't order again. The French toast was great , perfect texture and flavor, the bread they used worked really well. The table we were at had some jelly on it from the prior customer which was a tad disturbing , unclear if it was missed as it was hard to see with the Wooden table top or if the table just wasn't cleaned at all. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. I would come back if I'm the area.

This was my first experience here, and I had heard good things. First, the service wasn't great. Not many options for anyone avoiding wheat, and almost none for garlic and onion intolerances. I decided to just go for it, and ordered a favorite dish, the crawfish étouffée. It wasn't very good, definitely not worth the stomach ache I got for eating it. The spicing was rather bland, with the bitterness of green pepper dominating everything else.

We love Cajun food and there aren't too many Cajun joints around. Once we found Mouton's, it has become our go to place for Cajun food. The beer is nice too.

Had been wanting to try Mouton since seeing they have chicken fried steak but the drive was a bit far from home. Finally made it to meet with a friend in that area. We did come on Labor Day, possibly the reason for the slow service. We didn't get our food until 45 minutes after ordering. The servers were nice, likely just short staff for the holiday. I did enjoy the food. The Gumbo was flavorful. I'm not a gumbo expert but it was good for me. The chicken fried steak didn't disappoint. Good size portion, had to take most of it home after finishing the gumbo. I will come back to try the étouffé and maybe other items!

Ask the Community - Mouton's Bistro & Bar

Is this Location still open? tried to call and said mailbox is full

Yes! The cedar park location is open.

Do you have Happy Hour? and if so can u share the Happy Hour info with me?

Yelp says there's a military discount. Does anyone know how much it is?

10%. Food is overpriced and definitely not Cajun or Creole.

What are your hours of operation? I went today Thursday during lunch time and the restaurant was closed.

Hi there. I’m so sorry! We actually had to close both locations today due to a presumed positive covid case. Hope to be back by Monday.

Is this location still planning to re-open?

Yes, May 4th for curbside for both locations.

I Know both locations are temporarily closed due to covid-19. but I am curious if anyone can tell me the current price - before tax are the Lunch Specials? I am thinking 8.99 but not sure?

The Lunch specials were $7.99 before taxes

My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. It's definitely a neighborhood bar, but with a slightly elevated vibe that makes you feel like you stumbled into the nice version of a local hangout, not the sticky‑floor kind. I ordered three rounds of Hendrick's and tonic, and my partner went with four rounds of Tito's and Sprite. When the bill came out to $140, I had to take a quiet moment with myself. Yes, Hendrick's is top shelf, but even with that in mind... whew. That total felt a little ambitious for a neighborhood bar in Cedar Park. I'm all for a good cocktail, but I also know what these pours cost elsewhere, and this pricing didn't quite match the setting. That said, the service was excellent. Our bartender was attentive, quick, and had that perfect balance of friendly without being overly chatty. She kept an eye on the bar, and we never had to wait long for a refill -- which I appreciated, especially since the place wasn't packed. Honestly, the smooth service was the highlight of the night. The vibe itself is cool -- a little eclectic, a little upscale, and clearly a favorite for the local crowd. It's the kind of place you go when you want to unwind without dealing with the Domain crowd or the chaos of downtown Austin. I can absolutely see why people love it. But between the drink prices and the overall experience, this is one of those spots I'd visit occasionally, not regularly. A cute neighborhood bar? Yes. A $140‑for‑seven‑drinks bar? Not for me.

My group was given two boats for a very roomy experience with canopies for lots of shade if desired (but these were pulled back at night to enjoy the stars), there was even shaded areas on the lake (if you want to sip a cocktail with the boat shading you) on a lillypad to float if desired. The lake breeze and the wind as the boats cruised make it completely cool both on the lake and on the floating tavern. A rental of time at Floating Tavern is completely an experience that feels like you are out of the United States. It is so exotic! They cater your day totally to what you want to do. Want jet skis? Fine. Want to go cliff diving? Fine. Want to just cruise the lake or take a trip with music? That works too. Just chill out sipping a cocktail on a lillypad or floating? Go for it. Once your water time and cruise time is completed, the real fun begins. With expert captains having given us a great lake tour, we pulled up to the floating tavern and that was just incredible. I brought electric candles for the table to level up the experience a bit but they did it all so well with or without them and it was so roomy even for our large group! They had dimmed lights for ambiance, a mixologist squeezing fresh juices for us for amazing drinks she made with the alcohol we brought, (their alcohol package may be easier next time as it is very affordable) and we had two chefs creating small bites for us hot and cooked right there on the tavern as the sun set and we were surrounded only by lake and stars, docked right there in the middle of the lake. The service was exemplary and far beyond our expectations of fun and being catered to. You can bring some of your own food too to make a full party if desired. The communication leading up to the event was exceptional and I'll be honest, I would much rather book this experience with friends a few times a year then ever buy a boat. It is the best lake experience and lake dining you will ever have and the hosts are a huge part of the fun of the day. True experts at what they do and we are a group of well traveled, well dined foodies (including two professional chefs) and we were completely wowed at our evening. It's the vibe that gets you.
