Did not disappoint. Drove off to Lititz to the original restaurant. Table of 3. Got chicken meatballs and spaghetti squash - excellent for keto lifestyle folks - everything was great (temp, taste, texture). Also had a very fluffy 3 cheese quiche. Final order was tomato pie - very good. Quiche and tomato pie had a really great savory scone and a nice side of greens with dressing available on table (lemon white balsamic). Ambience is all country,and a general store. The tables are rather close together, so there is little room for privacy. However, the food is delicious. Tomato pie is the best. All of the food appears to be prepared from scratch and home-made, lemonade, freshly squeezed. There's not anything that I can say against the food or beverages. Put this all together with a very friendly and efficient staff makes for a delicious lunch. One word of advice, you may have to wait because the café gets very busy. read more

We tried this restaurant upon the recommendation of local friends and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Avocado on Toast dish and it was delicious. The avocado was fresh, the toast properly toasted and the egg done just right. We ordered a side of chicken and feta sausage and the flavours were fabulous. Often I find that Chicken sausages are too herby but this one was just the right balance. The interior is nicely decorated and it is warm and cozy. My initial vision of a sea-mammal vanished with the arrival of a generous portion of folded egg matter and potatoes. I may be the last person in northern Lancaster County to eat at the TMC, but today that person finally made the trip,to Lititz to enjoy breakfast with the wife. And a delicious meal was had by all. Once we scanned the QR code menu, orders for Avacado toast by the wife and tomato pie flipper (omelette) were placed, but then my wife took it a step further by also ordering a tomato pie lunch dish. Both the waiter and I were taken aback by this bold move, but off he went to do his thing. Coffee and bottled water soon arrived, and we enjoyed our outdoor garden seating while waiting for the food. To note, the patio seating is fantastic- shady, well planted, cozy- unlike allot of the Covid-induced asphalt parking lot venues that have appeared of necessity. This outdoor seating is akin to Griddle and Grind in Ephrata...like you are enjoying someone else's patio while eating breakfast. Nice to live in someone else's world for 30 minutes. Lest I digress. Food arrived, and my tomato pie omelette was interesting- and tasty. My wife made jealous eyes at my rosemary hash browns- and so the sharing (?) began. Her avocado toast was enjoyed as well, as was my toast .All in all, very good, and as we came down the consumption homestretch, the tomato pie order arrived. Uh-oh....surprisingly, with both of us nibbling away, we did it justice. I have been to the TPC, I have sampled their TP, and yes, my friends, it is good. What a quaint restaurant that is quite larger on the inside then i expected which encompasses a first and second floor with multiple different rooms. When you enter the restaurant you will be greeted by a nice selection of pastries that look amazing! I tried the Tomato Pie with a side of greens and a herb savory scone. Something i have never tried before. Much flavor in the Tomato pie and scone. I was pleased. I also had a chai latte which was amazing and made properly! Fast and friendly service. Today, January 25, 2024, I had my second breakfast experience at Tomato Pie Cafe located in Lititz PA. In my first experience at Tomato Pie Cafe, back in December 2023, I had one of the most satisfying and delicious breakfasts ever. I sat at the counter/bar on both occasions. I am a 74 year old retiree. On my first experience at Tomato Pie Cafe, after getting into my breakfast, I told the server behind the counter that my pretzel bun bacon, egg & cheese sandwich, along with the breakfast potatoes and the coffee, were among the best I had ever had - no exaggeration - and I am a breakfast potato aficionado..!! So, I was excited on this visit to see if Tomato Pie could do at least as well as I had experienced on my first visit. But they did not. When I entered the restaurant around 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2024, there were about 8 seated customers, not including me. All four large tables in the center of the main area at the counter were empty. I again chose to sit at the counter and informed the receptionist of my intent. As soon as I was seated on a round stool at the counter, I removed my heavy coat and placed it on the back of a chair at an empty table - literally just behind me, and proceeded to look at the menu. One of the women who were milling around at a table by the cash register, apparently preparing silverware for serving, came over to me and said (words to the effect of) "May I move your coat to a stool as we may need to use that table." I was extremely irritated at that request since all four large tables in the center of that area were vacant, but I said "Fine - if that is what you need to do." The lady seemed to not appreciate my attitude and moved my heavy winter coat to the empty stool beside me to my left. I silently wondered what would happen if someone wanted to use that stool...?? I turned my attention back to the menu, and immediately I sensed that my jacket had fallen on the floor. I decided to leave it there until one of the staff noticed that it had fallen onto the floor. As a note, my coat remained on the floor for at least 5 minutes before one of the women came over and picked it up and gingerly laid it, once again, across the same (empty) stool. On this visit, the French Toast caught my eye. However, when I asked the man behind the counter if the only sausage they had was the chicken feta sausage I saw on the menu. He informed me that they also had pork sausage. I immediately placed my order with the man for the French Toast with pork sausage. I was absolutely shocked when my plate was set before me on the counter, when I saw that the "pork sausage" was not in a link, not in a patty, but the pork sausage had been placed on my plate completely broken down into loose ground meat. Yes - I had to eat my sausage with a spoon..!! It reminded me of, and looked exactly like, hamburger waiting to be put into a taco, or made into sloppy Joe. This is a fine example of something you should just leave alone and not be trying to do some stupid "modern" presentation that just doesn't make sense - to anyone. Yes - never in my life had I been served loose pork sausage as breakfast meat, and I am totally offended by this presentation. My burning question was why??? When I asked for the manager, I told her of my experience, beginning with not being "allowed" to hang my coat on the back of an unused chair at an unused table. Her first response, pretty arrogantly I might add in my opinion, informed me that there were hooks under the counter right at my knees to hang my coat. As I groped under the counter at my knees to find hidden hooks in that location, my next question to the manger was "Then why would one of her employees not only not inform me of the coat hooks, which I did not notice, but place my coat on a stool, not once but twice...!!! I just don't understand. In our current "climate" why would you or your staff seemingly work to drive a customer away rather than be accommodating and welcoming to a customer. Wouldn't it have been better to leave my coat in the unused chair at the unused table until an actual customer appeared who actually was to be seated at that table? There were 4 empty 4 seat tables after all. With every center table in that area unoccupied, the response of your staff was unwarranted, made no sense to me, and was extremely inconsiderate. This is what I identify as a staff with rigid training and no capability to think outside "the box" To the manager's credit, she did not charge me for the loose sausage. BTW - the remainder of my breakfast order, the French toast & coffee, were excellent. I wrote this message - not to collect a "coupon" or something toward food at Tomato Pie Cafe, but in hopes that they can improve their staff's response to customers and their concerns. It was our second time at this restaurant and had a scary experience yesterday. If you have allergies, I would avoid this place. When our waitress took our orders, I made sure to specify my daughter's allergies. She appeared to jot something down on her pad, so I thought she was listening carefully. A second waitress followed up with questions about my daughter's order but only regarding one allergen. When our food came, there were already a few small mistakes. This should've alerted us that out first waitress was careless and negligent. I started to feed my daughter the chia pudding and as I got to the middle of it, I noticed there was another ingredient, so my husband and I tasted it before giving it to her. It was peanut butter and there was about a tablespoon of it as I continued to scoop it out. We were fortunate that she isn't severely allergic to it and can tolerate trace amounts. Otherwise, it would've triggered an anaphylactic reaction, which is life-threatening. We will never return to this place. read more

Noticed the county had a "public hearing" notice billboard out front pending a zoning and use debate scheduled about this business. No idea of the history. Place was packed-crowded, with people sitting waiting inside and out, which the check-in clerk (lied to us) and told us only a 10-minute wait. After 25-minutes, same clerk, "revised" her wait estimate to 1-hour. Sorry! Poor impression, untruthful staff, no worth waiting around for. Their food is eh at best and the service is notably bad. The side salad "greens" are usually about 1/4 rotten. You see that they mix the new greens with the old and that leads to lettuce that is wilted to the point of being squishy and black. From experience this happens in my fridge after about a week. Recently I made a to go order of 2 paninis and a pie with extra side salad instead of a side bread. What I got was a pile of meat and cheese sitting on top on their "greens." I called them and told them that I intended them to not give us the side bread, (a rosemary biscuit with too much butter,) instead of giving us sandwiches without bread! I was told that they call their side bread a "scone," and that it was my faut for not specifying "scones." I've baked British style currant scones and American style cherry scones but I can't come up with how this rosemary heavy dense bread has anything to do with a scone.
