The menu. You order at the counter before you sit down.

Cool little diner I Lancaster Pennsylvania. Ordered the Smoked Salmon omelet and didn't entirely love it......but wait! It's not what you think. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were bright and it was plated really well for how fast this place gets food out to your table. I wanted to branch out and try something outside of my normal comfort zone and boy did this hit it out of the park. The salmon was pleasantly smokey the tomatoes and onions were beautifully cut and the rye bread for the toast was pretty tasty. The diced potatoes were pretty crispy and had a very light seasoned flavor with some seasoned salt mix. The service was prompt and kept the coffee cup full. Wife had crepes that was garnished in fresh whip cream. Yum! Please give these folks a try and be sure to order your favorite on the menu unlike me (LOL!). Thank you Ida's Cafe!

3.5 Review Let's start with the positives, cause they're way more fun to write about. Everyone was super friendly. We were greeted upon entering, the lady at the counter was informative and nice, our service was quick, with the waitress stopping by several times, to check in on us. No complaints there. Portion sizes were hefty and not just for our meal of pancakes, meat and potatoes. I did a quick scan to see what other patrons had ordered and noticed large portions, as well. The food was tasty, cooked well and arrived to our table, super quick. Now to the negatives: spacing between tables, chairs, customer order counter, cramped. Do I want someone's butt in my face as I eat? Let me answer that one for you; No. Secondly, If you don't have the mechanics to make a decent latte, don't attempt it. Simply stick with a good cup of hot coffee. Pancakes were not fluffy, but flat, a tad chewy, but the flavor was good, nonetheless and I enjoyed the homemade whipped topping, albeit a bit too sweet. Homefries, tasted of the frozen variety and extremely mealy and the bacon, grocery store quality. The reason why I pick on your bacon and homefries, was because you tout yourself as a breakfast/lunch cafe and with that said, I'm anticipating elevated breakfast components, especially being surrounded by so many wonderful butchers.

Adorable little cafe with an impressive menu. Freshly made pancakes, crepes, waffles and omelets and so much more! Beautifully plated food, so tasty and filling! The outdoor eating area is comfortable and the umbrella tables make for a sweet experience in beautiful weather. I like that you're able to substitute fresh fruit for hash browns for a small up charge. Very friendly counter service. Definitely would come again!

Food is delicious and the service is quick! They have nice outdoor seating and you order your food at the register and pay first.

Strawberry cream cheese pancakes

A couple weeks ago, I had to come across the river for a medical procedure. We found this place a bit by accident and a bit through Yelp. I've always loved cozy little places like this. Ida's did not disappoint! The inside is clean and bright. The owner is friendly and pleasant, and the food is phenomenal! I had the Bleu cheese burger & fries. Sharon had the Quesadilla. Our second visit, we both had the strawberry cream cheese pancakes. OMG and Damn the blood sugar! There is nothing about Ida's that I don't like, except maybe that they close at 3 in the afternoon. Im thinking of planning more surgical procedures just to give me another reason to be in the neighborhood.

Dropped into Ida's for breakfast our first morning in Lancaster. Cute place with counter service. You may want to peruse the menu before you come to help narrow down your choice... there are many choices We had pumpkin French toast, cinnamon bread French toast and crepes. All were very good. They were also not overly sweet! The service here is friendly and efficient. Good start to the day!

One random morning we stumbled upon Ida's and it was a treat all in it's own breakfast way. So first the parking lot here was kinda strange it had like cones with rope on them directing you to go this way around or something so that was kinda confusing. Once inside for me it was all about the blueberry French Toast as it had just what I wanted it was filled with a blueberry cream cheese that had piles of whip cream around the sides with that wonderful powdered won top as well as different varieties of berries to make it just that much more yummy. The French Toast was totally yummy for what it was but don't count out those sausages they too were just what was perfect to break the blueberry cycle as each bite of the sausage had that snap you always gotta look for! Overall mellow spot with some good food who knows if I'll get back here again but it was definitely yummy for what it was.

Banana Pancakes

I drove past this place so many times not realizing that this was a great find. The cafe is small but there's seating inside and outside. Tables are set up for couples or 4 people. The woman working the counter was pleasant and polite. There were a few people ahead of me to order but she greeted me upon stepping in the door and said that she would be taking my order soon. The staff made sure the table we were seated at was wiped down and clean. I ordered the pumpkin stuffed French toast. My husband got the banana pancake with eggs and home fries. Everything came out hot and fresh. I opted for the caramel on the side bc I wasn't sure if my meal would be too sweet. The flavor was good. I wish the cream cheese filling had a little more sweetness to even out the cream cheese flavor. But overall it was great. Really great flavor, not too sweet and not too bland. Perfect balance of walnuts, whipped cream, and French toast. My husband enjoyed his meal. The pancakes were huge (the size of his plate) he wasn't able to finish the stack. I would definitely eat breakfast here again and I would try their lunch options. It was refreshing eating at a non-chain, fast food restaurant. Cash and card are accepted but you'll get a discount if you pay in cash.

After some serious shopping, we were in the mood for Brunch on a Tuesday and discovered this spot…read more We arrived around 12:30 and, although almost full, we were seated next to a window. Had no problem finding paid street parking across the street. A good variety of Brunch options from Eggs, Bowls, Sandwiches and Tacos. Ordered a Coffee and San Pellegrino. The Coffee could've been much stronger. Didn't enjoy it. I should have taken the Kahlua or Irish Cream shot option. They did have a good list of Cocktails including Mimosas. We ordered a couple of their Benedicts. The Short Rib and Bread Pedaler. Both were delicious with the Bread Pedaler having a slight edge given the Maple syrup topped Waffle base. Lyonnaise potatoes were tasty and not a Brunch side you see everywhere -yes, made in the French (Lyon) way with caramelized onions. We also ordered Short Rib Tacos and a Monte Cristo to go for dinner. Tacos had the same Short Rib from the Benedict with Queso Fresco taking it over the top. the Savory/Sweet Monte Cristo was also delicious and one of the best we've had! Service was friendly. Given a smaller and cozy space, sounds like weekends can get busy. Another Lancaster spot that impressed. Don't miss this Brunch!

It's not the most comfortable place due to the size, but the smells and vibes are good, so it's worth checking out. I got the blue crab benedict with potatoes and my husband got the short rib tacos. Service was quick and we were overall impressed with the food! My one gripe is that they didn't have any fun coffee drinks, just black coffee from what I saw.

Introduction:…read more Representing 2018 in alphabet series, O is for On Orange. The letter O only has 5 of the 8 possible years represented in the alphabet series. Interestingly, 2 of them are in Lancaster County, PA. This was prior to my parents moving to Lancaster in 2021. In March 2018, my girlfriend of that time & I took a day trip to Lancaster. I lived in Montgomery County, Maryland (near DC) at the time, and we were meeting up with a friend who was living in New Jersey kind of in the middle. We agreed to meet at On Orange at 12 PM on that Sunday, March 25 since we were driving from far away, and I think they were doing a day trip too, but possible they stayed a night in town, not sure. Also, On Orange closes at 1 PM too, so even more reason to be punctual. My g/f of then was notoriously late & took a long time to get ready. She was taking too long to get ready, and I knew we needed to leave if we even had a chance of making it on time. After a while I said I don't want to do this, but I will leave without you & meet my friend (& his girlfriend). I started the car and texted you have 1 minute to come out, and if you aren't out, I'm leaving without you. My timer reached 0, and I slowly was driving off, but I saw her shuffling with her coat and what have you leaving, so I waited. We got in the car, and I rushed off. If that weren't bad enough, my g/f said we needed to stop at her bank to get cash. Of course, there was none right within route, but saw a location right off I-83 in northern MD, Hunt Valley, but we wasted more time to get off the freeway, for her to go to her ATM, & get back on the freeway when we were running significantly late. I said we are running significantly late as it is, so why are we wasting more time. She claimed in case there was something she wanted to buy in Lancaster, but that was not the primary purpose, but I'll get to that at the end. I was panicking on the significant late, and that the restaurant closes at 1, and I drove above 100 mph at times on I-70, which I think was the only time I've ever gone that fast on 70, and maybe only 4 times ever in my life reaching that speed. Experience with the Restaurant: This is street parking around here, which was free meters on Sunday. We got a decent parking spot a block away. We walked in at 12:50 PM, which was 50 minutes LATE and 10 minutes before On Orange's closing time of 1 PM. My friend & his girlfriend were already done eating. He said that they had their stomach set for eating at 12, and there was pressure to order since it's not a huge place and pretty busy. I was annoyed with my friend for not waiting for us, but I get it because let's be honest, my g/f fault on that one. Server was cordial, and my g/f & I quickly ordered. Food came out quickly. We ate quickly, and my friend & his g/f watching us eat. Food was delicious, and they were quick, but to be fair, they were closing in 10 minutes, so they were motivated to get out of there. I got a pancake & egg dish as I recall. This was a top notch brunch. In spite of the negative experience of being so late because of my g/f, the experience at the restaurant was excellent. Conclusion: After brunch, we looked around downtown, Amish Farm (see my 5-star review of them written in April 2018), etc. and was overall a nice day with the 3 of them albeit very cold. After we left, I took the back road from I-83 all the way back to Germantown, MD where she lived to see something different and to save a little gas too since it's pretty direct going that way. My g/f was complaining about it taking so long getting back. I knew she was meeting up with a friend that night. But what I later realized, she wanted to stop at an ATM that morning really because she needed cash to pay that friend for cannabis that night. So, she disrespected everyone's time for this. I guess on a positive at least she wasn't cheating on me with that guy and really was just for pot. In conclusion, I thought On Orange was top notch, and they were accommodating to our time schedules.

They were both delicious and filling, and it was a good combination of sweet and savory. My partner got a Savory Crepe, which he also enjoyed. The only disappointing part of our meal was the iced lattes. We both ordered different flavors - one Nutella latte and one with strawberry syrup. We couldn't taste any of the flavoring in them at all. Had our server not told us which was which, we would never have been able to tell. They just tasted like plain lattes with no added flavor. Especially disappointing considering you pay extra for the flavored syrups. Overall, a great choice for delicious food and friendly service, but maybe grab your latte later from one of the other many coffee shops in the area.
