We came by from a recommendation from local family. We tried the tomato pie and spinach and artichoke tomato pie with carrot fries for the first time and loved them. They were both full of flavor and the dill dipping sauce for the carrot fries was amazing. The boys were not sure about this but had the hamburger and grilled cheese and both thought they were very good. My father in law really enjoyed the lavender lemonade also. This place is magical. I came here 13 years ago after my son was born and I got a tomato pie a salad or I can still remember. I absolutely fell in love with the place. We came back here two years ago and it was just as magical my husband got this amazing lavender cake and we had this herb lemonade, we're going back to Lancaster and we're planning our trip around visiting here. My coworker and I decided to give this place a go after we've heard many things about this place. For starters, parking is miserable. Be prepared to park on the street (bring quarters - Lititz ticketing is no joke). They do have seating indoors and outdoors (seating is limited and I was told they only do reservations for 6+). We were greeted by the friendly hostess and opted to sit outside as there was no wait. They did have umbrellas for their tables but it only helped to a certain extent (tbh glad there was just outside seating). Our server was SO nice and attentive. He was quick to get refills, napkins, etc. My coworker and I ordered the same pick two. We ordered the house salad and the pesto chicken panini. The salad was a healthy portion but I could have done with shaved carrots and not chunks as it was a bit difficult to pick up. The sandwich had good flavor but wasn't very "stuffed." I thought the prices were very reasonable. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch but was expecting a touch more. Somehow I found this place years ago because of my obsession with all things tomato. It has become an annual pilgrimage. Always have the tomato pie. With greens and herb scone. Love the vinaigrette that is always on the table, so of course I have it at home. You can get the vinegar at a shop nearby. This year I tried the pie with bacon and corn. Not a home run. Corn didn't have that fresh local flavor and overall pie was soggy. Still a huge fan. Wish I lived closer so I could try something else on the menu. But I need a slice of that pie of every year. Well... I'm annoyed I paid 6 dollars for the tiny swirl cake. I feel like they're trying to have NYC prices on Lititz quality food. Just not hitting right - I couldn't even finish it. 4.25 stars. We arrived on a Sunday around 9:30 and there were about 20 people standing outside waiting on a table. Not many options for early breakfast downtown. This may be it. Everything else seemed to be brunch starting at 11am, so expect a wait. I walked inside to check out the interior and they had a bar, so I asked if we were allowed to sit there and it was OK, so I waved my wife inside and we bellied up to the bar. Approx. 10 seats and we were the only ones, but not for long. You are right in front of the action, as two guys were cranking out lattes, cappuccino's, etc., and they were super nice and chatty when they had the chance. My wife decided on a cappuccino and I opted for a maple cardamom latte, which was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and the combo of flavors really worked well together. As a bonus, one barista accidentally made a 16oz chai latte instead of 12oz, so he dropped the extra right in front of us and it was outstanding. Wow. Much sweeter than my drink, but so stinking good. We had a funny interaction when it was time to order our meals. The one barista heard me mention to my wife what I was going to order, and she replied to me what she was gonna get and he says, "what sides do you want with those?" and we were taken back as we had no clue he was listening. My wife advised on her side and I mentioned my hash didn't come with a side, but just bread, so I advised sourdough. Meals took about 15 minutes since they were slammed and when our meals came out, mine was not what I ordered, but a wrap with some bread. I asked him about it and he quickly apologized and he misunderstood what I ordered and would have gladly corrected the error, but I was starving and had almost a full cup of latte in my belly, so I told him it was totally fine and would enjoy what arrived. We all had a good laugh over the mistake, as what he gave me is what he would normally order. I guess I should have confirmed what he heard me telling my wife :). It was a pretty basic wrap, so I need to come back and get what I really wanted to try (seasoned sausage, roasted butternut squash, and rosemary potato hash topped with two eggs. Served with toast). Small deduction for the error, but love the place and will show up a tad earlier to get a table in the cute outdoor space, but sitting in front of those guys was a real show and that bonus chai latte. I was excited to try Tomato Pie Cafe, but the experience was a let down. The barista greeted us, sat us, and got us water. He also made a fancy-looking latte. He was very friendly. Our server, however, was not. She seemed annoyed by us, and left us waiting for so long after our meal that someone else brought the check. I was also pretty disappointed with my meal. This place is absolutely amazing and I hope to eat here again when I'm back in this area. I ordered the curry chicken salad, which is not what I expected but delicious nonetheless. I thought it would be curry chicken over a bed of lettuce, but there were only a few pieces of lettuce. Pretty heavy and very filling meal. Full of flavor and absolutely delicious especially with the savory herb scone that came with it. My friend ordered the balsamic Turkey burger and said it was amazing with the pretzel bun. I'll be honest. If you'd told me a month ago that the culinary surprise hit of my visit to Lititz would be a savory vegetarian dish called "tomato pie," I wouldn't have believed you. But indeed, it was, and it was truly fantastic. Maybe my only regret was not ordering a double slice. It's kind of like a lasagna or pizza, but with a flaky pie crust. It's topped with a light mild cheese and filled with perfectly seasoned, perfect ripe (not bitter!) tomatoes. Oh, and their espresso was top notch. I may be the last person in northern Lancaster County to eat at the TMC, but today that person finally made the trip,to Lititz to enjoy breakfast with the wife. And a delicious meal was had by all. Once we scanned the QR code menu, orders for Avacado toast by the wife and tomato pie flipper (omelette) were placed, but then my wife took it a step further by also ordering a tomato pie lunch dish. Both the waiter and I were taken aback by this bold move, but off he went to do his thing. Coffee and bottled water soon arrived, and we enjoyed our outdoor garden seating while waiting for the food. To note, the patio seating is fantastic- shady, well planted, cozy- unlike allot of the Covid-induced asphalt parking lot venues that have appeared of necessity. This outdoor seating is akin to Griddle and Grind in Ephrata...like you are enjoying someone else's patio while eating breakfast. Nice to live in someone else's world for 30 minutes. Lest I digress. Food arrived, and my tomato pie omelette was interesting- and tasty. My wife made jealous eyes at my rosemary hash browns- and so the sharing (?) began. Her avocado toast was enjoyed as well, as was my toast .All in all, very good, and as we came down the consumption homestretch, the tomato pie order arrived. Uh-oh....surprisingly, with both of us nibbling away, we did it justice. I have been to the TPC, I have sampled their TP, and yes, my friends, it is good. Service was excellent, payment was completed at the table, and we were on the way. $27 for two breakfasts and a tomato pie. TPC is worth the hype. A friend asked me where we ate the last time we went to Lititz and after I told her she told me I should have gone to Tomato Pie Cafe. That was where I'd wanted to go, but things went a little sideways and we went elsewhere, but, I knew that the next time I was in Lititz it would be THE place to go. And today it was! I have to say I was sorely disappointed. I love tomatoes and looked forward to the signature dish, tomato pie. Friends came from out of town and there we went there for lunch. After a wait if about 15 minutes we were seated at a high top table. Generally restaurants ask if a high top is ok- not so here. We were seated and a server took our orders. There were 4 of us and no one asked for extra this, no that or anything unusual. After an unusually long wait 3 of the 4 meals came out and server said to DH, "Yours will be right out." Right out was almost 7 minutes after our meals came out. It's so uncomfortable to eat when one person has nothing in front of him. That was a major strike. Now for the food: friend said her turkey burger was pretty good and her DH said his burger was ok as well. Served on a pretzel bun that looked pretty good and they both came with potato chips. The burgers looked small IMHO. My DH ordered a Monte Cristo. Instead of a battered and fried sandwich it looked like a slice of ham on two pieces of French toast. I didn't taste it but my DH, who doesn't usually complain, told me there wasn't much in it. One slice of ham and he thinks some cheese. And there was a small condiment cup with pancake syrup with it. And potato chips. I ordered the signature dish, tomato pie. I love fresh tomatoes and it just sounded great! The crust was tasty. The very thin egg and cheese layer was good but the tomato layer was so heavy in the oregano that it overwhelmed the taste of the tomatoes. The topping was some kind of cheese that had been baked and was congealed. This was served "with greens and a savory scone" and for an additional $3 and change I ordered carrot fries. The savory scone was a cut wedge of a biscuit that wasn't bad but would have benefitted from some butter, which was not offered or in the table or plate. The carrot fries were a joke- possibly 12 strips of carrot that had been cooked earlier in the day and were limp and cold and looked pretty sad. Probably 1 or 1 and a half carrots in total. And no greens. When the server came with the fourth meal I asked about the salad and she said oh, I'll get it. It came out and the 4 of us laughed. There were possibly 4 little pieces of curly lettuce on a plate. What a joke! I gave 1 star because our friends said their burgers were good. I was so very disappointed. Coffee was never refilled, we waited too long for everything, tables and chairs were way to close together and jammed in, and the food was laughable. I wanted to take photos but my purse was wedged between the chairs and I couldn't get my phone out without making my husband get up. And as it was, every time a server passed between him and a lady seated at the bar she bumped into him. So, no photos, sadly. They won't see us again unless they offer to buy us lunch. read more

Drove to the lovely little town of Lititz, PA today to have lunch at the tomato pie, only to discover there was a huge craft festival in the town. Streets were closed but we made our way to the tomato pie Café and found we only had a 15 minute wait. Sat outside on a perfect summer afternoon. My husband ordered the tomato pie and I got the tomato pie with bacon and corn, a summer special. Both came with a side salad. We use the lemon vinaigrette on the table which is always delicious and tastes like summer. We also got the peach ginger ice tea which was certainly a treat, very refreshing and the ginger was so good. As always a great experience at this restaurant and we highly recommend it. Great small town find! I need to stop saying, "I never believed I could find a place with great vegan options in a small town," because Yelp time and time again has shown me the light. The Tomato Pie Cafe oozes charm and healthy vibes. Think: cozy old time corner coffee shop with delicious food, including the namesake (which unfortunately is not vegan)... so Luke's (Gilmore Girls) but instead of huge mugs of boring drip coffee and whatever meaty stuff he served up, there's white peppermint mochas and smokey red beet sliders... and plenty of traditional fare like Luke made, so don't skip this place if that's what you're seeking. No judgements! I just appreciate being able to eat in cute places like this because historically, I'd be ordering a plate of fries at corner coffee shops. At Tomato Pie Cafe those fries would be carrot fries, though! I ordered the cilantro lime bowl, which is a lighter option, and chock full of goodness! This kind of food is both tasty and nourishing. Admittedly, if I were hungrier, I would have needed something to accompany it, as it's a smallish portion, but it was perfect for me that night. At a very affordable 7.85, which is less than an app at most places, it wouldn't be a big deal to order more! Like one of their house made plant burgers! It's BYOB (I'd bring a corkscrew too, not sure if they have one) and they kindly provide glasses. I don't even think there was a cork fee. For once we were prepared and brought wine, which was a good thing because I can't tell you if there's a wine shop nearby.
