Just had a very disappointing experience and will never return to Tokyo Kitchen. We were a party of 10 celebrating a birthday and very excited to eat at one of the birthday girl's favorite places. I had a reservation for 7 pm and we were seated quickly. After about10 minutes our server came over to get our drink order, the restaurant was busy so I understood why it took a little longer. 15 minutes later a group of four people were seated at the table right next to us and it was very obvious they knew one of the owners or managers because he quickly walked over to them greeted them and got them complementary sake shots. At this point we have been sitting for 35 minutes with no salad or soup. After the other table finished their sake shots our waitress brings the salad and soup serves the other table first then serves us but misses giving a soup to one of the 3, nine year old boys we have at our table. After an hour of sitting a cook finally arrives but starts to talk to the table of 4 and begins prepping to cook for them. I said excuse me 3 times to the cook when he finally turns around, while he rolls his eyes at me. I let him know that we have been waiting for over an hour why are you starting with them. He says someone will he with us in a minute. At this point I went to talk to the manager. Who refused to come out to talk to me and instead one of the other workers listened to my complaint. He told me that the table of 4 ,that obviously knew someone at the place, made a special request for that cook. I let him know I understand that but they were only there for 30 minutes and we had been waiting over an hour with no acknowledgement or service. The only thing he offered were an apology and 1 appetizer. I don't have a problem with staff or managers showing appreciation for frequent customers my issue is the blatant manner in which service was given to another group and zero acknowledgement for another group of paying customers. We weren't even given the check till 9:20 after asking for it 3 times. We had to be there for over 2 hours. Terrible service and terrible management if I could give a -5 rating I would. Not even the decency to come out and address an issue. read more

WOW!!! First time here and I could honestly say, I will definitely be returning!! Came to celebrate my brother in laws Birthday. Started at the Bar, Lisa our bartender was just awesome!! friendly, made some GREAT drinks, and recommended some really good shots!! Moving to our table, Mayra and her partner were amazing, took our cake with candles and topper to place in the fridge until we were ready, was so personable, on it every second, we were never in need of drinks cause she was on it, as well as her partner. Mayra was just giving our entire party of 18 the best service you could honestly ask for. That's a reason to come back in itself, I'm huge on service at a restaurant, and they did not disappoint. Moving on to the food ... it's was absolutely delicious, flavorful, and well portioned, from the lobster to the steak and chicken, and don't get me started in the calamari steak, exactly as I wanted it! Hats off to the Chefs!! Thank you!! Lastly, the ambiance is absolutely beautiful, flowers on the bar ceiling, geishas on the walls perfectly dimmer lighting, and the A/C was on, so if you get hot sitting at the tables while your food is being cooked, you don't even feel it, trust me, I get super hot very easily... and I was fine. Went there last night and had a bad experience! 1) they lost my credit card and it took them over 20 minutes to find it. 2) I asked to speak to a manager and that too took over 15 minutes and I was told by several waiters different people were the manager. 3) when I finally got to talk to the manager(?) she claimed she was in a meeting, but I saw standing at the register the whole time. 4) she didn't feel that I had a reason to be concerned just because my credit card was missing. 5) then add to all this the air conditioning was not adequate 100* outside and 90* inside. Who's ready for the good bad and the ugly? Hailey was awesome! I do not recommend the "Bad Decisions" drink, that was a bad decision on my part. There is'nt a resident bartender, which makes mixed drinks challenging The TK Mai Tai wasn't very good either. The food was delicious however upon leaving, we overheard a male staff member being chewed out bya female staff member. Saying things like " you knew, bro don't tell me sorry..." whatever it was felt ABUSIVE and we didnt appreciate hearing... Have loved this place for 20+ years. The previous owners were amazing and the 5 times we have visited with the new owner has also been amazing up until now. I have never had to give back my meat due to undercooking, until now. I have never been served the wrong cut of steak, until now. I have never been charged the wrong amount on my bill, until now. I have never been treated so poorly by the serving staff ,until now. While we love the upgrades and the beautiful atmosphere. From the outside it was hard to tell if it was open or not (I'd suggest an open sign or more inviting entrance on the outside) but once we got in the door it was like a completely different place! The decor and atmosphere were very nice, I was pleasantly surprised. We Came here on a Wednesday night and the place wasn't too busy. We were attended to right away and the service throughout our dinner was excellent. We were asked if we wanted to sit at the sushi bar or at the hibachi table. We chose the hibachi table but definitely want to come back for the sushi bar. The food was made perfectly and tasted great! We got chicken,shrimp, and steak all cooked as ordered and the fried rice was delicious. As far as price it is a little more expensive than going to the bigger name restaurants but not by much and Id personally rather spend on small business. Come to this restaurant with my wife at least once a month. This place has been redone completely and looks amazing with the new decor. Perfect for a date night out or family dining event. The staff is very attentive to their customers and make sure they are taken care of. We always make reservations to make sure we are seated in a timely manner. We always get started with sushi since their sushi is by far the freshest around. Drinks are good and the bars looks amazing as well with a variety of good alcohol. I've known about Tokyo Kitchen for years and I hate to admit it but I went there for the first time today for my birthday(better late then never right?)and I was really impressed with the creative decor and overall style. It created an interesting atmosphere. I've had other teppan spots locally and really enjoyed TK's style and taste better then others, I also think the vibe they created with their decor enhances one's dining experience. I ordered the filet mignon with shrimp and chicken with fried rice and veggies. Pretty bomb not gonna lie!! The filet was tender and just about melted in your mouth. My overall first time experience was a good one service was good and I highly recommend it if you're coming through and wanna try some good teppan. The young man cooking put on a decent show but we had a large table full of small children and the saki/water bottles resembled small boys peeing. I felt that squirting them around the table was very inappropriate for little kids. Also the food was unbelievably over priced, especially since the food wasn't that great. Love the new remodel. Service was excellent. Sushi by Supay was like going home. Just the way we like it and made with love. We tried a few things for our first time. Japanese burrito was delish and different. We had tempura bananas and ice cream for desert and it was fabulous. The thing I would suggest to improve on is I had tea and it's just served in a mug with a tea bag. This really doesn't match the elevated service of the Tokyo Kitchen experience. The garlic edamame was really good and so were the gyozas. It was fun celebrating a friend's birthday there. Service was good. Had a great experience. Good food. You kind of know what to expect when coming to a Teppan Grill and TK did it well. Kind of hot in the waiting area and indoors but passable. Chef cooked the food fine but wasn't engaging. I would be happy with just a good cook but I feel like the exorbitant price of the meals almost assumes inclusion of a "show." Other than that, all the help running around were very kind and quickish to keep cups full and utensils replaced etc. Love that the menu now includes kids portions and even a la carte items. Along with the Rib-eyed meal and chicken meal, we had a couple of sushi rolls and everything was really good. Again no real complaints, it's just at $60+ a person (with only soft drinks), you're kind of expecting to leave WOWed. Overall we had a great time and will probably keep going to TK on special occasions (rather than a regular weekend dinner option). We came in to celebrate an early Mother's Day dinner and although the ambiance was exceptional the dinner experience was quite the opposite. At the tepan table sat our party of two and a party of four across from us, leaving two empty seats between our two parties. Throughout the dinner experience we noticed early on that the party of four must have been regulars considering the amount of consideration and special attention they were blatantly receiving from the staff and cook. We've been to several types of establishments such as Benihana and Shogun so we are familiar in which what to expect. The party across from us were immediately greeted with enthusiasm from what may have been the manager but the attentiveness didn't stop there. Normally when the portions of rice, veggies, and shrimp appetizer, are distributed they are done in an overall proportioned manner. They were served first and any remaining portions were distributed to them. Now considering there were two empty seats at the table, it was quite noticeable when comparing our plate portions to theirs. The rib eye we ordered was over cooked, when it should've been a medium rare. The chicken that we ordered was given to the other party and we were in disbelief once the cook started cleaning up the grill, in having to remind him that we had yet to receive the chicken that he gave to the other party. Mind you, they didn't order chicken. I understand and respect that every business values their regular costumers and in this economy, no business can survive otherwise. With that being said, the same lack of respect on their part to our dinner experience reflects the lack of potential clientele on our end. After notifying the waiter and manager, which informed us that the meal would be taken care of, they only deducted 10% off of our bill. When you're paying $16 for a drink and $50 for a meal in todays economy, I don't feel that's it's asking to much to receive equivalent service and a good meal. Their enthusiasm in rectifying the situation unfortunately didn't reflect in the overall outcome. If Tokyo kitchen continues to treat future guests in this manner, I highly recommend them revisiting their moral standard in service of the restaurant industry. If there's any doubt or discrepancy in our dining experience, please feel free to review your security cameras. Our reservation was for a party of two on 5/11/24 at 8:30pm. Disappointed Went for wife's birthday after hearing from 3 different friends/family that it was very good since it reopened. For $275 for family of four (12/10yo) it was waaaayyy overrated. We had chicken, filet, ribeye, lobster, shrimp. The ribeye was the biggest waste of money out of all of it. I wanted it medium rare but it was such a thin sliver of meat, the only way they could cook it was well done. No flavor! Others at table got NY steak. It looked way better for less $. Filet was ok, chicken was ok, shrimp was ok, lobster was mediocre, at best. Fried rice was pretty good. Overall the sauces at other places are much better and majority of food is either over or under seasoned here. Service is still working out the kinks since it's reopening, but I'm giving that a pass because everyplace right now is the same. There was no lack of trying. We had only one beer on the tab, and they forgot to charge us for three sodas. Still $275. I may give it another try if we go with others and they insist, but won't be going back again if my choice. read more

Hearing they just recently opened I decided to give them a try. The place has been pleasantly remodeled inside and has nice aisian inspired murals on the walls. Chef Nat made an excellent meal of shrimp, steak and chicken. He was very much the Showman and very entertaining. All the staff were hospitable checking on us regularly and keeping the drinks filled. We decided to bring our family to the new and improved TK to celebrate a graduation and a work promotion and it was a great place to celebrate. Parking: Its a big lot however this place is packed so parking can be a bit hectic but you'll always find parking even if its at the end of the shopping center. Reservations are a must! Walk in's are welcome but trust me you'll be waiting a bit...opentable is your best friend and even then might be subjected to a wait just like any great restaurant. Inside: Upon entering its beautiful they really put a lot of time, money and effort into this place. If you ever visited this location in the past prior to new ownership you know it needed a serious facelift. The only issue we had with the space was how hot it was. You could barely feel the AC. The place is a little tight and crowded but they make the best of their space and that's ok. Food and show: The cook we got cooked delicious food but was a little bland in the presentation. He was nice but couldn't produce much of volcano for the kids and then made a very inappropriate joke to our table which immediately made everyone feel uncomfortable and kept doing so while flinging a shrimp near his crotch over and over hoping he'd get a laugh from our shocked table full of elderly people and children. I promise we aren't those people so we quickly tried to squash the awkwardness but by that point it was too late. When he noticed no one really laughed and instead everyone was awkwardly looking at each other he quickly changed the topic and finished cooking asap. We still tipped him for the delicious food he cooked and the ok "show" he presented. I just hope from now on we get the cook who my inlaws always like to get and he speaks perfect spanish which is a plus for them. Again the food is delicious, the sushi is fresh and filling. The drinks are dangerous... they're smooth and refreshing and the waitress was always attentive to our table. The waitress never forgot we were celebrating people and towards the end reminded us that they got free ice cream. Another plus, they have a kids menu! No more splitting plates and making a mess for this momma, they got to pick what they wanted in specific and they loved it. My family loves this place even with our little hiccup. Seriously disappointing. I used to come here twice a week under the old management. I have an issue first about the new owner calling themselves "CEO and inventor", when this restaurant is older than I am and I know for a fact they didn't invent or create this restaurant or the teppan steak concept. 2nd issue I have is the owner reposting people bragging about their weed parties and the pre-rolls they gave out as favors during the "soft open" they had. First impressions not great tonight. People getting straight trash drunk outside the front doors in the parking lot with multiple kids and infants in the party. This was liquor they got from inside the restaurant. I know this for a fact because I saw them repeatedly going inside and coming back out with liquor in cups and beer bottles from inside that they left on the curb in the parking lot. I've never known a reputable business to allow people to walk off the premises with liquor, for obvious legal reasons. I had a reservation for 7pm, arrived at 6:50 pm and was told I'd have to wait another 20-25 minutes. I wasn't seated until after 8pm. For context another party I spoke to outside had reservations at 6:30 pm and they weren't seated until almost 8pm. Once inside the decor to me feels cheap. Thin gold stainless silverware, tons of plastic plants, feathers and black rattle can walls with neon wing lights and stupid sayings feel more at home on a basic girls Pinterest board than a restaurant. My biggest issue is the service. For $50 bucks a head for dinner you expect decent service. The cooks are constantly drinking in the open, obviously getting sloshed, and the waitress' make you wait 45+ minutes for just water. My party ordered alcohol ( beer, sake, and mules) and it came out over an hour after ordering extremely watered down and with literally no alcohol flavor in it. So if they don't seriously skim on the alcohol in the drinks I'd be REAL surprised. The wait time for the alcohol seriously pissed me off because a man at the table across was being brought 3-4 Corona beers at a time and I couldn't even get one drink. By the time my sad watery drinks got to me this guy was about 9 beers in and the others at his table hadn't even gotten their drinks. I don't know who this guy is to the owner/ manager and I don't care. No one should be getting preferential treatment like this when the AVERAGE PERSON is paying $50 bucks a person at the opening!! The cook didn't get to our table until after 9:30pm and was obviously drinking LONG before he got to us. He was slurring his words while he told us that every single member of the old staff was still there. We didn't see even one member of the old staff, and we were extremely familiar with the old staff. The food was okay, not super flavorful and definitely not worth $50 bucks. I honestly won't be back here anymore. I miss the old restaurant when it had roaches and dark lighting. I feel like this new owner only cares about Pinterest/ instagram photos and stroking their ego. This egotism is obvious by the cultural appropriated geisha of her image on the wall. If she was really concerned about making a great restaurant that people will have a great experience at and keep coming to then she wouldn't have to spray paint her face on the walls and concern herself more with the customer experience.
