This restaurant is clean. The server was attentive. The food is just not good. The cucumber in the Sunomono salad was sliced too thick and the dressing was bland. The sushi rolls were pretty bland as well. The ginger (to clean your palate) was not hot like I like it. The shrimp sushi was tough. Usually there is a little spot of green mustard between the fish and the rice. Not at this restaurant. That's probably why the sushi was bland to me. My recent take-out experience was great. I was given a laminated menu for me to mark my items. They have this special where you buy 3 or more special rolls, you get all rolls at 50% off. There may be other items that qualify for the 50% off, too, but you'll have to ask and confirm. I got 4 special rolls... Caterpillar Roll, Gold Dragon Roll, Salmon Scallop Roll, and Shiro Roll. They were good size rolls. Fishes were very fresh and had good cuts. Sushi rice was moist, however, I have found they may fall apart at times. Sushi ginger and wasabi plus soy sauce comes with them. I enjoyed my rolls very much. Ambiance inside is slightly dimmed. They have a waiting area outside in front of the restaurant. I have been here so many times pre-covid and came back for the first time post covid today 4/20/22. We always experienced great food and service here and today's visit was no different. Their Happy Hour is 50% off rolls if you buy 3 or more and btwn my hubby and I we ordered the 3 which were good we also ordered a hand roll too. For the cut rolls we ordered the following: Yaya roll - spicy yellowtail covered with albacore and topped with jalapeño ; the Vegas roll which is deep fried with salmon and crab; and finally the Vegas roll which is a fried roll with tuna and jalapeño. All were good but I feel there was a bit more rice in the cut rolls than there was fish. For our hand roll we ordered the eel roll which was quite the treat with generous portions of eel and avocado. Next time I think we will order hand rolls over cut rolls. We also ordered a tempura appetizer which I probably would not order again- small portion with a not so small price. I've been many times and tried a variety of the things on the menu and have never been disappointed. They also were so hospitable and accommodating when I made a reservation for a large party. We brought in an ice cream cake, and they were willing to put it in the freezer while we ate. We ordered a variety of items and drinks. Everything was so good. We got very full. Prices for specialty rolls were insane. I usually go to places in my area but we were visiting family and stopped by here to see what was up. Holy cow the prices for some specialty rolls were 24-30+$. That's pretty insane. We got sat down and when my partner & I saw the prices we calculated between the two of us, to order 3 specialty rolls, an appetizer and 2 drinks would have put us at 120+$ for the bill. We decided to leave but I felt bad they sat us and brought us waters so I left a 5$ bill for being sat. Unless they lower their prices I don't think we'll be visiting anytime soon. We got our usual order at a place by our area and the total bill came out to 70$, which is a night and day difference compared to this place. I'm sure the food is amazing but I can't stomach a 100$+ bill unless we were eating at a super fancy place. read more
