It's been a while since my last review of Sato Sushi even though we've visited enough times. Again, this place does not cease to amaze. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and delicious food. Service was top notch for our party of 11. Very attentive. No order was incorrect for the entire party. The food was delicious, excellent cuts. Not too big and not too small, just right. I would like to say prices were on point with what we received, but I can't. This is because you get more than you pay for. Let me take a moment to mention another post by someone who mentioned issues with POC. Give me a damn break. You probably caused your own problem, if there ever was one. Brown and proud here, as well as my family. They treat us great here. In conclusion, don't skip this place, hit them up! Always a good time, always great food, always great service. read more

The tuna cut rolls were good with fresh fish. However the tamago sushi I got was unfortunately frozen which was disappointing. The service was good and food came out quickly. Other than the tamago sushi, everything else was good. read more

Surprisingly this was my first time trying this sushi spot, even though I've lived in Upland for forever! Tried the Cajun Tuna roll & the House roll, both were fantastic! My only complaint was it was a little pricey, but I think thats everywhere these day. The total for both of these rolls was $36. Would go again when feelin like a baller! read more

I black F have previously ordered from here at least once a week on an average.... sometimes twice a week as it is in my neighborhood and I like to support local businesses. I always just ask for recommendations and order on my phone using whatever pops up under take out. I have done this at least 5 times and never had to show my id or phone app or anything.... Just pick up, tip, say thank you and leave. Today I asked my husband black M, to pick up the order and you would have thought he was robbing the place with the level of disrespect they showed him for an order I paid fully for. Like an $70 lunch order. Tried all new items and some edamame and tempura as appetizers. The Las Vegas was too creamy cream cheese everload and the Jessica rated a 6 the baked crawfish was nice I rate a 7 but the way you treated another human being based on his color a....1 That could have been my young son I had sent for pick up and to think that you would have subjected him to that treatment is appalling and unbecoming of a business. I do understand that you have the right to serve how and whom you wish but you will never get a penny from us again. Do better because Upland deserves better read more

Decent sushi, questionable prices, and awful service. My friend and I (POC) were polite from the moment we walked in. The restaurant was empty. I asked if they could do a roll without imitation crab (because I'm allergic) the woman said no because it was inside the roll, but I was confused because they were able to accommodate something on the outside of the roll. I try to explain that I'm allergic and she gets irritated. The man making the rolls comes over and asks what I'm requesting, I tell him just no crab because I'm allergic. He says it's imitation crab and I tell him, exactly, that's the issue. We all go back and forth for a little and I just settled for a $15 philadelphia roll. They both seemed to be very irritated and throughout the whole conversation the woman is SCOFFING after everything I said. I should have left at that point but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I ate my food quickly and left. Worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Never have I ever been met with such rude employees. I get an allergy may be hard to accommodate but that was definitely not the case here. Not sure if we were treated this way because the restaurant was empty or what, either way totally unacceptable. If you are a person of color, especially one who is or looks black, do not come here. read more

We got to try the Hawaiian roll that was amazing and then the Combination 1! I forgot to take pictures because I was so hungry but we loved both. We immediately got seated and ordered: Bento box comes with miso soup, salad and a piece of fruit with 2 choices if your selection on the menu. Bento box; teriyaki salmon and 2 salmon / 2 tuna sashimi Bento box: California roll and 2 salmon / 2 tuna sushi Chirashi bowl We didn't wait long for our meal to be served. The employees were friendly with their service. The reason why I'm giving 3 stars is that the cost of the Bento box is almost $20! I've eaten at other sushi restaurants and their prices aren't this expensive. Would we order Bento boxes again from here? Probably not, but the sushi was good. read more

I found Sato Sushi under "Popular" on Postmates and had to try it out. We ordered the Viking, Cajun Tuna and Crunchy Dragon for pick up! I liked uday they have a sign that states only one person inside at a time and basically have a plexiglass barrier set up with hand sanitizer for pick ups. Checked out menu and menu pics through Yelp app (Yelp, you always make it so easy for us to find something to eat around an area). I do see some reviews where they had an ayce option before this pandemic. That would've been fun to try. Maybe next time, some time in the far future... Taste: 4 stars. I got the 2 item Bento I think $15.99. The 5 piece crunch roll was big. Good value here, for me at least. Lol. Their beef teriyaki was fine, a little bit like beef jerky but alright. Haven't tried the miso soup that comes with the combo but their salad and dressing was very tasty. I could eat a whole bowl. Dressing was not sour or bland. Seared escolar roll was fine. In the Sushi Dinner Combo C, the salmon, yellow tail, albacore, and spicy tuna roll surprisingly tasted pretty fresh. Hoping to try their tempura next time. Oh also, they were very generous with their ginger (rolled up in Saran Wrap)! Love that. Service: 5 stars. The employee who took our call ahead for pick-up repeated our order and asked for our credit card number over the phone and we didn't have problems with this (some places, they sometimes get an item wrong even after they repeat it). We tried to come to place during covid but it was only take out only... this time we decided to try it again and was happy they were allowing dine in! We were warmly greeted and immediately sat down. Our waitress was soo friendly and fast ! We ordered the vegetable tempura and it was hot crispy light and delicious! I love a good tempura ! I got the Chirashi meal because I couldn't decide on a roll... but this bowl was huge filled with fresh thick slices of sashimi! My husband got the beef udon soup and the broth was soo flavorful and filled with slices of beef and plenty of colorful veggies and udon noodles! Delicious little gem I would definitely recommend this place. We've actually driven by quite a few times and never stopped but glad we did.

Met up with someone for dinner here. We had two orders of the 15 piece sashimi, the Viking Roll, and the Hello Tuna Roll. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Viking Roll is a bit of a spectacle but taste-wise was my least favorite. Then again, I don't tend to favor baked or fried rolls these days. I definitely prefer my fish raw, but someone who prefers their sushi rolls cooked might like it very much. The sashimi was my favorite for sure although I wish they had given us different fish for the second order of the 15 piece sashimi. Service was friendly although I wish they hadn't pulled tables together and seated a large party of teenagers uncomfortably close to us. The girls in the booth behind me kept pushing into the back of my seat, squeezing me closer and closer to my table, and the boys were seated next to me at much too close of a distance. I had actually previously dined here before Covid-19 after a long hike. They offered a wide variety of AYCE and the staff was super friendly! The sushi was amazing, but I completely forgot what the name of the place was so I never returned. I came across Sato Sushi again while trying to figure out where I can order good sushi. Their sushi is outstanding. Even if when it's delivered. There are a lot of sushi places that I have noticed do offer take out / delivery during Covid but are not offering any of their sushi or are offering only a limited amount. Sato has their full menu. I ordered a few different classic rolls. I was very happy when it arrived. My order came with plenty of wasabi and different sauces.
