3 item bento: salmon teriyaki, veggies, 4 piece sushi
    Chalee T.

6 pm, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 I picked up my date and this is where we were going. Every place so far has been new to me. It was my first visit to Oni Sushi. Cool vibe here. Parking is meh as it is in downtown Claremont unless you park at the Packing House structure. Okay, cool, we were lucky to have gotten a spot as someone was leaving. We arrived at a great time as it wasn't too busy but it did get busier later. Service was good. There didn't seem to be a dedicated server. Seemed we were helped by three different servers. Apps: The Spicy Garlic Edamame ($9)... Depends on your spice tolerance level. I give it a 6/10, it was too hot. A slow burn, hits in the back of the palate. I liked it. My date thought it was hot, haha. She also ordered the Seaweed Salad ($8). A medium sized bowl, enough for two to share. Entrees: She ordered the salmon asparagus roll ($17). I had a piece, it was unique, not something I'd typically order. I always test new spots with a traditional dish, the Bento box. Tonight, I chose the 3 item bento ($28) with salmon teriyaki, side of steamed veggies, and 4 piece sushi. It normally comes with miso soup, house salad, and rice. It was a good choice but it didn't rock my world. Ambiance: I liked the decor and vibe. I didn't enjoy hearing the other party talking though. They played good music If I recall and they had a ball game going on their TV. Including tip, it was about $40 pp.

Place was a nice spot for lunch. We ordered a few rolls and a bento box for the kids. Sushi was fresh and nice portions. Inside was large and nice. Clean. Staff was super friendly and quick with service. Overall we're happy with the food and service so we'd go back.

I had a hankering for sushi and this was everything I hoped and wished it would be. For 3 people, we shared the following: -beef gyozas ($9.00ish) -yellowtail roll ($7.50) -philadelphia roll ($8.00) -double crunch roll ($14.00): spicy tuna + imitation crab both inside and out -baked salmon roll ($16.00): california roll topped with baked salmon, smelt egg + green onion Honestly, everything was popping off. First off - the gyozas were gyoza-ing. I thought $9 for 6 pieces was a little esspensive, but these were some high qual gyozas - good filling, perfect amount of crisp. If you're feeling a lil cheapy - I recommend ordering from the Classics. The yellowtail roll was phenomenal. It had a great rice to sushi ratio and the fish tasted so fresh. And it's $7.50 for 6 pieces which is a really good value. I splurged and ordered a few specialty rolls. They were great though I probably won't order the double crunch roll again because double on double isn't what I wanted and or expected. The baked salmon roll, on the hand, was fire. It was proportionally generous and doing all the things. It was a meaty baked salmon roll which I love. Ten. Oni is great if you're looking for a solid sushi option.

Celebrated Valentines Dinner, food was very good and fresh. Salmon was perfect. My daughters had chicken teriyaki and vegetable tempura. Oni sushi is one of our favorite spots.

The food was very vibrant, and fresh flavors. The food came out within ten minutes ordering. And the ambiance is modern and private to each table.

Excellent service and quick food delivery to the table. The food was good though not the best I've had but I wouldn't mind going back. They offer a nice variety of Asian cuisine ranging from Japanese sushi to Korean kimbap and more. A major downside was that the table was far from the bench which made seating very uncomfortable.

Pink Lady Roll - rice leas roll (not in the menu)

Decided to try this place out as I was in the area. I have been to this location before, but didn't realize it was under a different name. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a hostess and he said I can sit wherever I want. Once I said, I was given a menu. There were many items to choose from such as appetizers, Bento box, sushi, sashimi, and even sushi and sashimi combinations that they had. Prior to arriving here, I looked at the menu via yelp, and I did not see an item that I wanted to order on the menu. I asked the server and she said it was a special item that is not on the menu. I ordered the pink Lady roll, which is a rice less sushi roll, which had crab meat, cream, cheese, and asparagus inside, which was topped with salmon. I really enjoyed the roll and the crab meat was a great substitute for the rice. The restaurant had a great ambience to it. There was even a bar area where you can sit to grab some drinks. And from what I can remember, there was a TV at the bar area and upon walking in there was a big screen. This is a great place to grab sushi if you are ever in the downtown Claremont area.

I've chosen this restaurant because I saw a good review, and I ordered my food which looks and taste so delicious but suddenly I found a hair in my plate. They changed my plate and the second plate that they brought the salmon was raw and not cooked well. I lost my appetite and will never ever visit again

I always enjoy coming here for a quick lunch. I always get the bento with so many yummy options and a salad and soup that comes with it, you can't beat it. The service is always so good and the atmosphere is clean and friendly. Be sure to check this place out for lunch or dinner!

Plenty of seating inside a welcoming environment! The waitstaff was friendly and quick. The music was the best! The fish was super fresh and fatty and flavorful! The sushi platter had plenty to share with a party of 4, plus adding the combo C made us all full, but not stuffed. I am so looking forward to trying more sushi.

The service and sushi was impreccable. Went on a date there tonight with my husband. The sushi was 10/10, so fresh and generous size roles. We sat at the bar, the sushi chefs and all staff were so nice and attentive. Quite a few people ordered oysters, which looked so good, ... we will definitely be getting / trying those next time! Thanks Oni for a wonderful experience and such good sushi. We can't wait to come back. YUM. Keep up the great work.

Ask the Community - Oni Sushi

Is there an all you can eat option? And how much for lunch on Sunday?

    No we do not

I'm planning to order the sashimi platter but I'm extremely allergic to gluten. Is that gluten free? And can the rice and fish be prepared in a manner to avoid cross contamination?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this. I am just a reviewer of the resturant. I recommend you call them directly or visit the location prior to your decision.

Do you have AYCE, or still no?

No they do not have all you can eat at this time.

Does it have gluten free options?

No they do not, I came in to the restaurant and was told only the edamame was edible. Apparently they put gluten in their rice??

Is the spicy miso ramen vegetarian? I've gotten different responses

It's basically not vegetarian but if you ask for the vegan option then they will make it for you :)

Is this place all you can eat sushi?

    No it's not

Does anyone know if it is an AYCE sushi place?

It's not. The previous (King Kong) place was, but Oni is way nicer and cleaner.

It was my first visit here but it won't be my last. I had already did my browsing of what's on the menu. I joined in on the crispy tofu for the appetizer and the crispy salmon skin salad. When we walked in it was busy. The Dodger game was on at the bar. There were maybe three open tables at most. We were seated at their small table against the wall. A cozy table for two. We were greeted by our friendly server, she brought the menus and ask us about drinks to start. I've water all around, haha. She came back with our water. Ooh, tasted like cucumber water... Refreshing. While my lady was deciding, I ordered: crispy tofu appetizer (presented in a small dish, about 10-12 pieces of hot, crispy cubes of golden tofu with a dipping sauce) and the salmon skin salad for my entree. The salad was an ample sized serving to share between the two of us. The salmon skin was julienned and were crispy little clumps like miniature fishy hash browns. Very crispy and tasty salad that included sliced tomatoes, cucumber, and scallions on mixed greens. My date ordered the charshu ramen. We shared our plates. The ramen was very tasty. The noodles had a good chew, not over cooked. Mmm, that was delicious. The robotic server was kitchy and cute. Maybe it does assist them with delivering plates to the table but the human server was observed transferring them from the bot to the table. For our table, we had our food delivered in stages not at the same time. The crispy tofu arrived first, then the ramen, and several minutes later came the salmon skin salad. Not a deal breaker but noticed. Food was good. Service was okay, could be better.
