PokeDot is my go-to lunch spot whenever I'm working in Claremont. I'm only in the area once a week, and I pretty much look forward to stopping here every time. The fish and toppings always taste fresh, and they're really generous with the portions. Even getting a small bowl is usually more than enough to leave me feeling full. The staff is always friendly, professional, and quick, which makes it an easy choice when I'm on my lunch break. The staff here are super friendly, and the portions are massive. I got a regular poke bowl and was honestly surprised by how much food they give you. They include free avocado and a generous amount of imitation crab, which is always a plus. A large bowl could easily last two meals, so I was really happy with both the portion size and the food quality for the price. Bowls are around $16-$21, which is actually a great deal considering how much food you get. My go to combo is spicy mayo and ponzu sauce, which adds the perfect balance of flavor. Enjoyed a visit at Poke Dot down in the Claremont village today, not your typical seafood expert but I will say me and my friend Landon enjoyed our meals throughly. If you are willing to spend some dough you can grab yourself a pretty quick and yummy meal I came in today around noon and the customer service was great the dude at the front cashier was chill. While eating my food I found a piece of plastic in my food, which is already unacceptable and concerning from a safety standpoint To make matters worse, my coworker also discovered a bug in her bowl. This raises serious concerns about cleanliness, food preparation standards, and overall quality control. Finding foreign objects-especially both plastic and a bug in one visit is not something that should ever happen. When I called to report the issue, all I received was a quick "I'm so sorry, it won't happen again and I have to go we have customers waiting." There was no real effort to address the situation-no offer to refund our meals, even though we had to throw everything away after two bites. I hope management takes this seriously and thoroughly reviews their food safety and sanitation practice. I was visiting Botanic Garden in Claremont this past weekend. Afterwards, I shopped at Trader Joe's (TJ) and picked up some chicken kabobs from Boca Burger. I promised my eldest daughter that I would buy a poke bowl for her. At first, I thought of Oh Poke which would have been closer since it was in the same center as where TJ was located. But I've already tried it a long time ago. I looked on Yelp to see where else has poke bowls. Poke Dot came up and it was less than or about a mile away so that was my next stop. Thank you Yelp!!! Poke Dot is within the Claremont Village. It's actually on Indian Hill Blvd. There are small parking lots and street parking available. This poke joint has a bright and inviting ambiance. No one was in here when I arrived which was great for me so I can take lots of photos. Staff was super friendly and nice. I needed a minute to check out their fishes and toppings. Everything was very fresh. I couldn't help myself and got two large poke bowls. Each bowl comes with 5 scoops. Price was on the higher end of $19.95 per large bowl compared to other poke places that I've been to. But that didn't stop me from getting them LOL. I asked to try the brown rice and the gentleman was nice to give me a small sample cup of it. It was piping hot right out of the rice cooker. It was soft and fluffy. I was SOLD! Both poke bowls pretty much had the same ingredients except for the base where mine had half brown rice and half salad. My daughter got all white rice. As for the fishes, I went with 3 scoops of salmon and 2 scoops of tuna. They also had albacore, shrimp, scallop, octopus, spicy tuna, and tofu. As for toppings, I got everything that was there... cucumbers, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, original and spicy crab meat, and avocados. As for crunches, I got everything, too... tempura, hot cheetos, fried onions, masago, seaweed seeds, and furikake. Lastly, topped with seaweed salad, edamame beans, ginger, and wasabi. As for sauces, I got them on the side... spicy mayo, medium spice house sauce, and cilantro twist. That was a whole lot of goodness. The lady had a hard time sealing the bowls... they were that full. I love the over the top poke bowl. Hey, there's a new label for it. My poke bowl was so full that I had to pick at each corner slowly. It was so fresh and delicious! The only gripe is that a few of the salmon chunks had muscle tissue attached. No big deal. I would definitely be back here for more tasty poke bowls. We had to ask to add a little more of almost each topping. Also, our bowls were underdressed or undersauced as we both thought they were dry. I ordered a large with 3/4 brown rice and 1/4 salad. The portion of base they give you for a large is pretty solid. The large comes with 5 scoops of protein but some of the proteins that are there cost an extra $1.50 which I think is not worth it. The large costs around $18.00 which is quite the hefty price tag, but you are getting a decent amount of food. I personally think the price should be lower or that you should get more fish. My order was 2 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop albacore, 1 scoop tuna, 1 scoop shrimp, and there is a plethora of sides you can pick from. They give you the standard small scoop of each side which I feel is not enough. The fish seemed fresh and it was pretty enjoyable. I think this is the better poke spot in the village but I still feel like the price is high. A small thing that did bother me was that the worker seemed very listless and it did not feel very welcoming. It was overall a solid meal and I would come back if I had the money. read more

For a college town poke joint, this is definitely worth the college price if you are ever craving some Poke. When I first saw this place, some of the reviews worried me about the price and quality of the meal. Paying 17$ of a medium or 20$ for a large is definitely on the higher side for poke bowls. However, the two times that I have gotten to go there, the staff have been more than helpful and generous with their servings. Both times I have even had them have to carefully squish everything into the bowl with how much they gave. In terms of the quality, it definitely isn't the best fish or selection I have ever had. I personally wish that they had more marinated fish choices. However, the fish still had a good flavor and did not get overwhelmed with that bad fishy smell that other poke places seem to have. My favorite part about this place is the large amount sides and toppings that you can put on. (They even have avocado you can put for free if you want as well as unique things like hot cheetos if you are into that). My one gripe is for unagi sauce, they do charge you an extra 50 cents (they should at least tell you that before they add it at least :(). However, they still are very receptive to how much you want so just make sure you tell them exactly what you want to get the best out of your bowl. Definitely would go again read more

My husband and I had Poke for the first time here. Claremont is a fun area and this place is right on the one of the main drags. I ordered a small bowl (which is the same size as every bowl). The only difference in sizes is the number of scoops of protein and with all the toppings I feel like to get the most out of your money, ordering a small is the best way to go. I started with 1/2 brown rice and half lettuce, then had crab, avocado and cucumber added, salmon and shrimp for my proteins, ponzu sauce on the side, furikake, edamame, crunchies, and the delicious seaweed salad! In retrospect I would have gone without the crunchies and possibly the furikake, and had more of the seaweed salad because that stuff was BOMB! The ponzu sauce was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but it was delish. They put a generous amount of protein considering how small the scooper is. So 2 scoops was plenty for me.
