We did the all-you-can-eat sushi and had a great experience. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, and the service was extremely fast, especially considering how much food we were ordering throughout the meal. One of my favorites was the seared albacore with garlic sauce and Cajun seasoning, absolutely epic. Definitely recommend trying it. Their traditional iced green tea was also really good and paired perfectly with the sushi. I also really loved the atmosphere here. The restaurant is very open and spacious, the tables aren't crammed together, and the mood lighting gives the whole place a relaxed feel. It was comfortable enough to actually sit, enjoy the food, and take our time. Fresh sushi, fast service, great atmosphere, and plenty of variety with the AYCE menu. We'll definitely be back. read more

There are 4 options for AYCE. We got the Menu A because we don't really want the special items on menu B & C. $31.95 for all the appetizers, ramen/udon, salad, sushi, roll, cut roll, and hand roll! Totally over idk lots of options! I am not a fan of rolls so I got all sushi and hand rolls! Some of my favorite are Salmon Sushi It's salmon my fav nothing can go wrong with it!!! Albacore Sushi First time trying it! Love! They have sauce on it and make it really good! I can't tell which is which lol albacore and mackerel since it's my first time ever having them Fresh Water Eel Sushi Eel! Prefect as usual! Not too fatty Mackerel Sushi First time trying it! I can't really remember the taste but it's good! I keep confused with Albacore Yellowtail Sushi First time trying as well! I remember this one! I totally like it more than the regular tuna. Before trying it my bf was like it's also tuna I'm like what they look totally different and after tasting it yeah they taste totally different!!! Salmon Hand Roll Good good!!! Order this through the salmon cut roll selection!! Love! It was salmon with cucumber! I love hand rolls with cucumber it just added to the texture and refreshing! Absolutely NO from me and my bf Montclair Roll I like it! My bf go because the price is good. He doesn't like AYCE that much. Love the vibe super cute decoration and they also have patios! I wonder if we can bring Cubby next time! I like each serving for sushi is only 1 which makes me get to try out the ones I never had before and don't have to worry what if I don't like it but have one more! For rolls are 4 rolls a serving so you get to try different ones!! LOVE THAT! We didn't get a stomach ache or anything after eating so I believe the quality is good and fresh! Happy to found a sushi AYCE that I can always go back to!!! Definitely would go back!!! read more

The minute we walked in to this restaurant, we did not feel welcomed. It was 12:04pm, 4 minutes after they opened for business. They were not busy. Only three tables were occupied. Two different staff members saw us waiting by the front and no one acknowledged us. After standing around and ignored for about 5 minutes, we were finally seated. We haven't been here in a while and the pricing structure has changed. Now, there are four levels of AYCE pricing. It ranges from $21.95 to $47.95. We did the AYCE $21.95 meal. It includes appetizers, salads and special rolls. Each table has an electronic ordering device. We place the order on the electronic device and the food gets delivered to our table. The quality of sushi was just okay. It was not high quality sushi. We did not liked having so much sauce on top of our sushi rolls. We prefer to be able to taste the raw fish without all that sauce on it. The pictures on the menu screen/device does not show sauce on the roll. But when it arrives, the rolls are covered with various sauces. Only a few of the rolls were not covered in sauces. I thought the tempuras were the worst. I did not liked the batter. The batter is too thick. It was a good deal for the price and for what you get. read more

My husband and I visited on a Sunday afternoon. The ambiance was dim and cozy, not too noisy -- a nice setting overall. Our waitress was attentive and clearly explained how the AYCE menu worked. The 3 stars comes down to food quality. It was edible, but didn't taste fresh to us. Also, of the food runners bringing out our dishes, only one bothered to tell us what each item was -- the rest just set plates down without a word, leaving us to guess what we were eating. For reference: 2 AYCE menus, 2 16oz beers, and a small sake came to $112.72 including tip. read more

Went back again to see if their appetizers and some of the food are normally served hot, serve the correct the temperature... NOPE! food were served room temperature. This includes tempuras, baked mussels, fried rolls, tempura rolls, takoyaki. At least the miso soup was hot. I'm so disappointed tho. read more

As a food content creator and Japanese food lover, I've been to so many all-you-can-eat sushi places around the area, but oh my god!!!!! This place definitely stands out with the specialty sushi I've been craving. Starting with the price, they have options ranging from a basic $20 (only 4 choices) all the way up to $48. We went for the "medium-end" $39, and the quality and selection were beyond imagination. First, unlimited raw shrimp--which is rare! Then seared Cajun salmon, creamy salmon, garlic shrimp--all the goodies I love in Asia--are now unlimited!!!! There's more: the one-time-only carpaccio, where you can select your favorite fish, plus beef tataki, sea scallop, and salmon roe--all top-notch. The décor and patio are excellent too--totally date vibes, but also easy to handle even with kids. We ended with tiramisu ice cream (extra charge), which makes this place truly stand out. Restaurant vibe good. Service was good. Food was okay. $50 for premium sushi isnt a bad price with the fish price going up so much. It feels like they're using about tier b & c level sashimi grade fish. My bf who went liked it because their sushi was very saucy but for me I like clean sushi that I can just use my soy sauce and wasabi for the flavor and nothing extra. When the sauce is heavy..it means the fish isnt that fresh. Anyways not bad. Would I be back probably not. (Their health grade is B). I didn't like this part. read more

Sushi One Spot - Sushi Bars Near Me - Montclair, California

I have been coming to Sushi One Spot for over 5 years, and it is incredibly disappointing to see what this restaurant has become since Joyce took over. My family has spent thousands of dollars here over the years. We would come 2-3 times a month and easily spend $100+ each visit. Unfortunately, my last FOUR visits have been terrible, and today was the final straw. Today I brought four additional people with me because this was once a restaurant I loved and recommended. Instead, I was completely embarrassed by how we were treated. Joyce tossed/threw straws at our table, brought out Dr Peppers and waters, and immediately told us that "the rules" were that we couldn't share sodas. Nobody said we were sharing sodas. The assumption, attitude, and way she spoke to us were completely unnecessary. The situation became so uncomfortable and humiliating that our entire group got up and walked out without eating. What bothers me most is that I have continued giving this restaurant chances because I've been a loyal customer for so many years. After four bad experiences, I'm done. You don't treat longtime paying customers this way--especially customers who have supported your business consistently for 5+ years and are bringing NEW customers through your doors. I never thought I would be leaving this review for a restaurant my family used to love, but the service and treatment under the current management have completely changed our opinion of this place. We will not be returning. read more

I am updating my review to 5 stars because the lady in the green coat provided excellent and attentive service and the mussels were better prepared with only 1 single one I had to pull. This is the best sushi value I've ever seen and I highly recommend you come try their tasting ayce on a weekday. However, I would say to not expect a normal hand roll if you are ordering a la carte as it's just a normal roll uncut as opposed to the traditional shape and style. read more

Sushi One Spot in Montclair is definitely up there with some of my favorite AYCE sushi spots. The sushi quality is really good, and you have a tone of nigiri and rolls to pick from. They also have a wide array of appetizers you can get, and all the ones we got (katsu, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, etc.) were all very good. The standouts by far are the nigiri, which are very fresh and have a great rice to fish ratio. The service here is also very quick and our server was very welcoming and attentive. Overall, Sushi One Spot is definitely a solid option if you want AYCE sushi, and I will certainly be back. read more

Came in Sunday around 5pm and it was our first time there. Love the kiosks and Joyce the manager was so nice and got us sat very quickly! My favorite roll had to be the one spot! AYCE sushi alert! This spit has different tiers where you can pay more if you'd like to access more unlimited all you can eat items like appetizers, special items, etc. The restaurant is really well decorated and aesthetically pleasant. It was a cute minor detail, but the staff along with the chefs were dressed in Halloween costumes! Hats off, can't imagine wearing a full mask while assembling food. The food item is delicious and the cuts of fish is nice and thick! Takoyaki is crispy and decadent. I appreciate the portions so you can order multiple items without it being too overwhelming. Sushi One Spot is favorite ayce sushi restaurant! The ambiance is lovely and inviting, service is great, and the food is 1000/10. I find myself thinking about this place often because their sushi is that good. I usually get Menu A, and my favorites are miso soup, Jen Jen Roll, seared garlic salmon sushi, eel nigiri, salmon nigiri, and the baked green mussels. I've tried an array of items on their menu, and honestly, everything is so good. Can't wait to return! read more

This place definitely lived up to the hype. From the moment we walked in, the staff were welcoming and the service was quick and attentive throughout the meal. And pation dining is available! The sushi itself was really good. The fish tasted fresh and the rolls were well balanced. Some sushi spots drown everything in sauces, but here you can actually taste the ingredients. The specialty rolls were creative but still classic enough for anyone who loves traditional sushi. Another thing I liked was that everything came out quickly and the portions felt fair for the price. The restaurant itself is clean and has a relaxed vibe, which makes it a great place for a casual dinner or even a sushi night with friends. Overall, a really reliable sushi spot with fresh fish, good service, and a welcoming atmosphere. read more

don't let the empty lot or facade fool you, this place is bomb! Our initial discovery of this place was due to proximity and the reviews. Since, we've been finding reason to be in the area to eat here. LMAO When you walk in you'll be met with a hostess stand and a huge photo booth machine. I'll be honest - the photo booth machine throws me off. like a couple other locations, there are different AYCE menus to choose from at different price points. Menu options range from $20 to $50 pp The sushi is always fresh! Rice to fish ratio is perfect. They offer a wide range of sushi, sashimi, rolls, apps and even ramen. read more

Sushi one spot Montclair has always been our go to for sushi! Decent price for AYCE and the quality never misses. We went last night and did our usual damage but we noticed some changes that would've been nice to know before ordering. They now only bring out 1 piece of nigiri per order -- us only knowing our previous way of them bringing 2 pieces per order we were a little confused when we got our first round. No worries though we learned for #2! We got the jalapeño salmon roll and another roll I cannot recall the name, eel, yellowtail, seared salmon and tuna, salmon, and tuna nigiri. Amazing! Paired with their ice cold Asahi, bomb! It was a slow night and it was pretty empty inside so we got our food very quick. Def coming back! read more

The ayce here is a solid option among other sushi restaurants in the area. The highball was delicious and refreshing. The tablet ordering system was explained by the hostess and was easy. The food comes out at a good pace after ordering, which helps us maintain hungriness during our seated session. The restaurant is decorated in a warm and comfortable way, it does feel like a treat to eat here. read more

Food was better than I remembered from last time. Although the fish to rice ratio has changed. It seems to have more rice then fish. Also, on the lunch combination, their tempura is very greasy. The John Roll is also different. Before it used to be a mix of fish and mayo on top of a wonton crisp. Now it is in the form of a taco. Also, it didn't have much flavor to it. I had to add soy sauce on top. Service was great. Our server as well as other servers were very attentive. The environment of the restaurant is very open. It can get loud when it gets busy, luckily it wasn't too busy when we had lunch. read more

First Impression: Do i just stand here and send a smoke signal to be seated? Is this a sushi spot or photobooth spot? Location: Right off the freeway and very easy to get to. Plenty of parking in the plaza. Experience: Once we were seated it was good. We had fast service between rounds and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. I really enjoyed the freshness of the fish and the variety on the menu. Their ramen was fire! Note: There are multiple tiers of AYCE menu to choose from. This spot is so underrated. I can't believe they offer no rice rolls for $19.95! Other restaurants offer that for a premium option only. Fish is fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed the salmon and yellowtail carpaccio. The premium option here was good - offers akaebi, otoro, uni mentaiko, snow crab, hirame, blue crab handroll, chicken skin wrapped gyoza, and futo maki. One order per person. Place does get busy but the servers are as attentive as they can be for how busy they get. Very clean restaurant as well. read more

My food came cold and took more than 30 minutes to be received. Not to mention my miso soups weren't received either. The team definitely has some work to do since the service was forgotten and the chicken tasted like cold rubber. The sushi wasn't so bad, so there are some areas that were ok. Nice decor though. I wish I could give negative stars. I ordered online directly on their website at 2:28pm and it said order ready in 30 minutes. Came in to pickup order at 3:18pm and they said it's not ready. Everyone was getting their food and orders and they kept telling me they were working on it. They told me the kitchen was backed up so after about 30 min of waiting, I tell them to cancel my order. At this point this is when they tell me that they FORGOT to put the order in the system. I understand that it can get busy but to keep me waiting in the store for almost 30 minutes and still not have the food ready is crazy. When I finally got my order and I check it-- it's missing 2 items in the order l o l. I wouldn't recommend this place. they told me that the order mishap was due to the system confusing them. Sounds like the system needs fixing. The employees were very nice and handled everything the best they could. I understand that things get busy and can fall through the cracks but it sounds like management really needs to improve a lot of things to make the experience more enjoyable Not only for the customers but the staff helping us too. read more

A nice sushi spot with very good AYCE price. The food was delicious and goes well with the price. It's not like high end sushi but very good for the price, especially at lunch time. The cooked plates are pretty good and nigiri with raw fish is nice too. I won't recommend pieces with seaweed because the seaweed was quite damp and not crispy like it should be. Excellent food and service. I came here on a Weekday during lunch hours. Their lunch menu starts at $20 for just rolls and appetizers but upgraded to the $30 bracket to include sushi nigiri's and ramen. Im so glad I did because the nigiri's are so good. The fish to rice ratio is perfect. The cajun salmon nigiri with just pepper torched is so good! Standout was the shrimp ebi katsu. Not many places offer this but it was so good! They have a huge appetizer selection. I believe even the $20 lunch menu on weekdays before 4 pm is so worth it. You will be full and happy. read more

Today we went to go eat at this restaurant because we heard it was a very good spot from my daughter while there soon as we sat down The Manager Joyce came up to us and let us know that there's a 18% gratitude fee on tables with six or more. It was the first thing she told us when we sat down she explained to us the all you can eat at the same time she asked us what we were having to drink. I let her know that my husband was having a water and I was having a Dr Pepper because he does not like to drink soda while eating sushi when she came back. She brought over six Dr Pepper's that nobody ordered or asked for when we told her what were all these sodas she told us that we were not allowed to share soda, which we had no clue what she was talking about so when we told her we did not order all these sodas she got mad and threw the straw down towards my husband. It was very embarrassing. I felt like from the moment we got there she treated us like she didn't think we could afford to eat there mind you we just came back from Palmsprings from a long weekend and just felt like eating sushi. Also she was making faces at us while talking towards us. I just feel like she's very racist. We are Hispanic and I feel like in her mind. She thought we could not afford to eat there when we were gonna spend over $300 there between all six of us bad move Joyce. We will no longer go to your establishment until you are fired. We ended up going to O-ni sushi on Indian Hill in the city of Claremont, which was very delicious. read more

Was worth it until they recently changed drastically where the bogo was no longer there and the sushi portion size was significantly smaller. Went there for lunch and by the lady's suggestion, I fell for the AYCE- never again. That is not Sushi- it's rice and imitation crab with a micro strip of some kind of fish.
