We always get take out and call it in directly, and the last 3 times the wait been longer than we were quoted to the point where today we were told 25-30 mins and it was an hour to get our food. The half the time I was there an employee was sitting in the booth next to where they stage the pick up orders on her phone. I get she was probably on break, but that's poor form. Take your break in the back, or outside the restaurant. Not in the dining room right next to customers. The food portions have gotten smaller while the price goes up; I get it that the economy sucks, but I don't think you have to do both. The last 2 times we have eaten there, once to go and once to dine in, the rolls are so poorly constructed they fall apart as soon as you touch them and the rice sticks to the plate. My fiancé normally gets the chicken bento box. She has a shell fish allergy and to this day, has not had an allergic reaction. Awesome. The veggie tempura is always a go to. We had an excellent dinner here last night to celebrate my oldest daughter's 17th birthday! They did seem a little understaffed at the beginning of the evening as a lot of tables needed to be cleaned up and they were trying to get the take out and delivery orders out the door. So we waited a little bit to be seated. Service was good despite that. When we were seated, our drink orders were taken and drinks were brought promptly. We were given a little bit extra time to peruse the menu. My oldest decided on the Alaskan Roll and the Hot Night Roll. She liked both but loved the Alaskan Roll the best. She also ordered some miso soup and loved it. This isn't my youngest's favorite cuisine, but she ordered the BBQ chicken salad and said it was really good, she ate the whole thing! I went with the yellowtail carpaccio and the Japanese Burrito. Both were absolutely perfect and delicious! The place is so cute with foliage and flowers and cute lantern lights. I really wanted to like this place. My brother raved about it, so perhaps it was an off night.. or perhaps their happy hour is quite different than their normal dinner service. However, this was the experience. Came in at 9pm. Sat down pretty quickly. Ordered a Philly roll, albacore tuna roll and yellowtail roll. Albacore was the equivalent of canned tuna mixed with some sriracha mayo. Yellowtail had a pungent fishiness to it; most certainly not fresh. Philly roll was the best out of the three, but was loaded with cream cheese. For $6 a roll, I wasn't expecting high quality. But I also wasn't expecting THIS quality either. Grocery store sushi is better. We were ready to order a second dish of edamame, yakitori and a beer. It took 20 minutes for someone to even stop at our table and we continually tried to wave someone down. We eventually placed our second order and also asked for more wasabi. We received our food, but no beer or wasabi. As we bit into the yakitori, it was cold. Like it had been sitting out for a half an hour longer or more. We tell the nice waitress (the only one who was attentive the entire time) it was cold. She brings back the chicken and I notice a skewer is smaller than the rest.. they literally clean cut the piece I bit into and reheated it lol. Our waitress was very nice, but it seemed like she was literally doing all of the work while other wait staff were kind of in lala land. I may try out the regular menu the next time I need some convenient sushi, however I'm not in a hurry to do so. Will update if and when that happens. read more

I frequent many of the sushi places in the area but wanted to try something different. I ended up placing a to go order from Ozen for the first time and, honestly, it was a great decision. Service was friendly and efficient, The food was tasty and of good quality. Absolutely no regrets giving them a try. They made a strong first impression, especially for a take out order. Ozen in Rancho Cucamonga is located in a busy shopping center off of Haven Avenue. There is plenty of free parking shared among the businesses in the center. If you don't find a spot right away, be patient as people are always coming in and out from the nearby shops. As noted above, my order was a to go order. It consisted of three rolls, all of which were made freshly and within a reasonable time. The order consisted of a - Cali Tempura Roll - Crunch Roll - Alaskan Roll I would order any of these three rolls again, without question. The quality was good and the portions were filling for two people. None of the rolls were overly stuffed with rice. My first experience, although through take out, was memorable. We absolutely love coming to Ozen. It is so delicious every time! We come down from Hesperia just to eat here! The prices aren't bad either and best in the area. Their rolls and sushi are the perfect balance of rice and fish where you can really taste the craftsmanship. My favorites have to be the Washington and the protein roll!
