So let me start this off with saying that we did not actually get to try the food. We (me, my husband, and 3 kids) have been wanting to try this place. We decided to give it a try for dinner one night and were so excited. When we got there, my husband went to put our names in because it was dinner time and figured there would be a wait. (Which we expected and was fine with). He put our name and party size into the kiosk. There were several parties looking around, confused, with no employee to assist the constant incoming flow of people. When my husband spotted a worker coming to the front, he started to ask what the wait time would be for a party of 5. Before he would finish his sentence, she cut him off and very irritably and quickly said "just put your name in the kiosk" and walked off. She didn't even stay in the front to assist the other parties that were also looking for assistance. She quickly just walked away. After that rude interaction, we decided we did not want to eat there anymore because that first interaction when a customer walks in is a part of their dining experience and she just set the tone for how the rest of our dinner would have went. read more

I need to start with this; I'm conflicted. Let's begin with the restaurant itself. It's tucked into a small strip mall just north of the 210. Parking is tight close to the store front, but nothing too bad if you don't mind a very small walk. The interior is modern-ish, borrowing from common mainstream sushi restaurants you can find anywhere in SoCal these days. Decor is light colored wood tones and ample, if subdued lighting. Staff at the front of house was comprised of four waiters/greeters/bussers that were left to handle everything from bar duty, serving, clearing tables, taking care of receipts, and seating new guests. This will be a problem later on. The food is 10/10. We had the bluefin toro sashimi, yellowtail carpaccio, albacore wrap, and fire house roll. The toro came with real wasabi. All of the food was amazing. Not just for the IE, like some of the best sushi you can get. It easily punches above its weight. Now to the bad. The staff were struggling to keep up with the steady stream of customers. Several tables near my wife and I went uncleared after the previous guests left and our table was cleared because we arrived. We ordered three items then added another, and wanted to order more but we were simply forgotten by the staff. We waited about 20 minutes for our waiter to notice us again and opted for the check. We waited another 15 minutes to get his attention again (he went into the kitchen for most of that time) and basically acted as if we were inconveniencing him for trying to pay. I need to point out that as soon as he handed me the bill I had my card out, and the waiters had the point of sale machine with them. He could have cashed me out at the same time he handed me the check. Instead, my wife and I waited 35+ minutes trying to get someone's attention to first try and spend more money, and after that didn't work, trying to leave. The food is amazing. The service was good at first and then slowly fell off a cliff. To anyone reading this, if you get there when it isn't busy, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Visiting on a Saturday night? You might not be so lucky. My advice to the owner(s)/manager(s); you need someone running the front of house, controlling the flow of customers so that your wait staff doesn't get overwhelmed. I strongly suspect the reason my waiter left before letting me cash out is because he had several other tables and a line of customers waiting to be seated with no one clearing tables. You may not need it at midday on a Tuesday, but Friday/Saturday nights, you absolutely do. If my wife and I visit again, it might be during a slower time of day. Something to consider, the sushi scene in SoCal is crowded. You have good food, but so do others, with more consistent service. read more

This is my daughter & I's GO TO spot. The sushi is the best in the area IMO. Plus the service & ambiance is nice & super chill. I've never gone and had to wait longer than 10 minutes. We always get the tataki roll and spicy tuna handroll from their happy hour menu that stays after 9 on the weekends. They also have a few decent drinks on happy hour menu too so it's definitely the best bang for your buck in the area! read more

We had an excellent dinner here last night to celebrate my oldest daughter's 17th birthday! They did seem a little understaffed at the beginning of the evening as a lot of tables needed to be cleaned up and they were trying to get the take out and delivery orders out the door. So we waited a little bit to be seated. Service was good despite that. When we were seated, our drink orders were taken and drinks were brought promptly. We were given a little bit extra time to peruse the menu. My oldest decided on the Alaskan Roll and the Hot Night Roll. She liked both but loved the Alaskan Roll the best. She also ordered some miso soup and loved it. This isn't my youngest's favorite cuisine, but she ordered the BBQ chicken salad and said it was really good, she ate the whole thing! I went with the yellowtail carpaccio and the Japanese Burrito. Both were absolutely perfect and delicious! The place is so cute with foliage and flowers and cute lantern lights. Parking right next to the restaurant is somewhat limited, but it's a big lot so you can usually find something even if it's a little walk. read more

This is one of the best sushi places I have ever eaten at. I wish I could give it 6 stars. The tataki roll is one of the BEST rolls I've ever had in my life. Perfect amount of spice with a smoky aftertaste. I will need to get this every time I come back. The Alaskan roll was delicious, a little sweet with delicious baked salmon. I've been craving sushi. A friend recommended this place so we came for lunch. They have happy hour till 3pm on select days. Sushi $4 for 2pc and rolls $6 for 4pc. I order from the regular menu and got the lobster bake ($19). It was delicious and warm. It had the perfect amount of sauce. It was so delicious I ate the entire thing (6pc). The service was nice. Whenever I'm working out near here I make sure to come here! The deals they have for happy hours is too hard to pass. Cut rolls for $6 is a steal and if you come during lunch they definitely do their best to get you in and out since they know many are on just their lunch break. I frequent many of the sushi places in the area but wanted to try something different. I ended up placing a to go order from Ozen for the first time and, honestly, it was a great decision. Service was friendly and efficient, The food was tasty and of good quality. Absolutely no regrets giving them a try. They made a strong first impression, especially for a take out order. Ozen in Rancho Cucamonga is located in a busy shopping center off of Haven Avenue. There is plenty of free parking shared among the businesses in the center. If you don't find a spot right away, be patient as people are always coming in and out from the nearby shops. As noted above, my order was a to go order. It consisted of three rolls, all of which were made freshly and within a reasonable time. The order consisted of a - Cali Tempura Roll - Crunch Roll - Alaskan Roll I would order any of these three rolls again, without question. The quality was good and the portions were filling for two people. None of the rolls were overly stuffed with rice. My first experience, although through take out, was memorable. The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because I am not really a sushi eater and I had minimal food options. I ordered the crunch roll, which, wasn't much of a roll after I removed the avocado, and crab meat, lol but it was still delicious, the shrimp tempura, and the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Everything was very tasty. The crunch roll, was perfect for me. The shrimp tempura was light and crispy and the ST Crispy Rice was excellent. The greeter was patient, and pleasant. Located in a large plaza, Ozen is nestled in the very corner with a few other shops. I placed a to go order on a Friday night and got to the restaurant in 30 minutes. The restaurant itself was packed and People were also still waiting for a seat (happy business is going well!) The hostess and servers were very attentive, making sure customers waiting at the front were helped--even when serving other tables. I got my food within 10 minutes of getting there which was awesome! I highly recommend ordering beforehand so you won't have to wait too long for food. Food itself was really good! Despite driving the food home, the sushi was absolutely fresh and delicious. I loved the variety of the deluxe. The protein roll was actually really good, I don't think I've had anything like it but it feels hefty and filled with fish with every bite! Uni was creamy and fresh and appreciated the crab leg nigiri~ The Chilean sea bass was tender and flaky and the portion of rice and vegetables was great. I also ordered a chicken udon for my partner for the next day and he said the chicken was moist and noodles were cooked perfectly. We had a pretty disappointing experience today. I accidentally spilled my drink, and it took a long time for anyone to come check on us. When they finally did, they cleaned the table but didn't offer napkins or even a new straw. We came back after a questionable first time visit a year ago and we were pleasantly surprised how fast they got their act together. We are now regulars! Every so often, we manage to get there for Happy Hour. We ordered our favorite Premium rolls and a large dinner salad. Many things wrong with this order. Avocado on salad was inedible as it was a long way from being ripe. "Premium" rolls arrived. Both rolls were served to us in a "clumped" presentation, not the beautiful streamlined presentation that we are used to. The pieces were quite small and had very little fish on top. I was craving sushi after the gym but felt like eating outside. It's not often you get an amazing happy hour menu, lunch specials, and cute patio all in one. The waiter kindly cleaned my outdoor table and seat with a warm towel and service was great throughout my meal. It's just off the 210 freeway and really close to the foothills so the area is great for an outdoor lunch especially on these warmer days. I got the lunch special, 2 premium rolls for $27. The baked scallop roll was generously dressed and the Takati roll was a nice balance of sweet and spicy with salmon and crabmeat. I don't feel like drinking but they also had great drink specials. The first thing my friend and I noticed when we were seated was that our table were dirty, and our waitress had to quickly clean them off. As we browsed through the menu, we decided to try the Candy Roll and the Deluxe Sashimi Omakase. Since my friend can't eat shrimp, we were surprised when the Candy Roll arrived with shrimp tempura inside, which wasn't mentioned in the description. Thankfully, she's not allergic, so we just removed the shrimp from her pieces. The sashimi omakase looked appealing, but we found it odd that all the sashimi cuts had a really soft, almost soggy texture--except for the salmon, which had a nice chew. The salmon collar and salad that came with the sashimi were both delicious. The salmon collar was grilled to perfection, with a good amount of meat and a nicely charred, peppery flavor.
