It was our first time to dine there. Only 2 tables were occupied by other group. The gentleman showed us a menu and took our orders. Sorry, we didn't order drinks so he served glasses of water. The glasses were not sweating, but ice in them. We ordered 2 different ramens and a egg fried rice. Tonkotsu Ramen broth was nice, not made by instant soup powder. Toppings looks great, too. Kuro (Black) ramen with popcorn chicken looks good. Popcorn chicken was served separately with ramen. Volumewise, it had a lot of chicken. Only one thing that I can tell was noodles. Tonkotsu Ramen supposed to come with thin noodles, not yellow egg noodles. The server told us that they have only one kind of noodle. I also noticed that there was no black or white pepper on the tables. I tried finding a pepper on other tables, but not. Egg fried rice had just egg and corns with rices. I understand that it clearly said Egg fried rice, but it should cooked with green onions at least? I've been to the kosuke in Alhambra many times and was surprised to see one in Ontario. The ramen quality is the same, such rich and not too overwhelmingly heavy broth. The noodle is cooked to a nice slightly al dente texture. My favorite is the veggie ramen and spicy miso. Both are uniquely delicious! This place is starting to become my go to for simple and trustworthy Japanese food. It's a very spacious place with quick service. My coworkers and I like to come here during lunch time because of how quick the service is and how high quality the food is. The highlight of the menu is definitely the chicken katsu curry. You just can't go wrong with it. The chicken is perfectly crispy, doused with flavorful umami curry and over a bed of rice. The spicy tonkotsu ramen is also pretty good but not life changing. I really loved how they provided a generous amount of meat and side ingredients such as eggs, seaweed, wood ear mushrooms, ginger, and green onions. Other places would've charged extra, so honestly, it was quite affordable for what you get. The meat was a bit tough and dry. Both dishes were rich in flavor, but I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever tasted. The Chicken Karaage was delicious. They were very generous with the portion size, and though the batter was a bit on the thicker side, it was crispy, hot, and evenly coated. Came here for dinner, which had a convenient location right next to the Ontario Mills, and there was no wait, though the inside area is small. I had the Tonkotsu ramen, and also split the chicken karaage and had a bit of the miso ramen as well. The tonkotsu is not bad, I like that there were four slice of meat, more than many other ramen places. I didnt like that the slab of ginger in there changing the flavor of the soup, or that the half egg's yolk was a bit overdone, but the flavor of the soup and the ramen noodles, and the pork is not bad. Same with the miso soup pork, and I liked how there was a lot of green onions in that one. I also liked how many pieces of chicken were in the chicken karaage. First off let me say that the employees are very friendly and service was great. I tried the popcorn chicken ramen with the chicken on the side simply because I've never seen this before with ramen. The generous portion of chicken was fried well and was juicy on the inside. The main problem is that the flavor is one note. The togarashi style seasoning was the only seasoning. The ramen looked great and the appearance reminded me of tantanmen. But like the chicken, the only flavor was togarashi. The noodles were bland and slightly overcooked and the broth had no depth of flavor, actually it tasted like it had no flavor at all as the heat from the one note spice choice overpowered any semblance of flavor.
