Toasted does a great job of bringing homestyle flavor and inventive and interesting menu options. Today we ordered the country fried steak, Mazapan Coffee, Urban Cowboy Skillet & Pork Belly bites. We started with the pork belly bites, which were tangy & had the right amount of kick. The breading on the Country Fried steak is delicious, topped with a flavorful gravy. I was impressed that the breading retained a satisfying crunch throughout the meal. The skillet was great as well, with flaky biscuits and savory sausage. This is a great place for breakfast! They have a variety of unique flavored lattes, cappuccinos, and other coffees and drinks. They have a decent sized menu and many items have a fun twist on old favorites. The staff is friendly and helpful. We have had Ryan as our server twice and both times he has gone above and beyond. There are lots of tables and chairs, with roughly half a dozen booths. I highly recommend Toasted for breakfast or brunch. I haven't tried their lunch yet but I'm sure I will soon! read more

I don't frequent SW Bakersfield much. But my buddy heard about Toasted, so we decided to check it out. It's kind of like a slightly upscale diner. They're only open for breakfast and lunch. The menu is quite extensive with breakfast, burritos and burgers. I opted for the Good AF Benedict. I have no idea what AF stands for. It's a split croissant topped with a sausage patty, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, cheese, hollandaise and scrambled eggs. I paired it with the hash browns. It was really good and filling. I ordered take out for my first time trying out Toasted. They unfortunately got 2 things wrong from our order and we had to drive back to get the correct food. It was nice that they offered to fix our order right away. I first tried their Papasito Benedict which was so good. The Chile verde was tasty and had some spice to it, but not overly spicy. My favorite from it all was the biscuits because they were so flakey and perfectly made. The hash browns were a huge disappointment as they had no flavor to them at all! I tried to add some salt to them but it was too late for it to be absorbed. I ended up not eating it after all. I also ordered their champurrado latte espresso and there wasn't anything special about it. I wouldn't order their overpriced coffee to avoid disappointment. I dined in for the second time and ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict. It was good, overly salted in my opinion. The country potatoes were a disappointment. I have a feeling they have trouble adding seasonings to their potatoes?? I feel like it's an easy fix, so I hope that if I ever go back it's better. Maybe hiring more people could help them as the customer service was OK. read more

I got the Hot Daing because it had everything I love for breakfast. Pancake, French toast, fried chicken and waffle. It was good. Loved it. But it was a lot of food (even for me lol). Saw this place while driving and decided to give it a try. So happy I did. A quaint little place with a big menu. I tried the Papasito Benedict. Omg...it was so so delicious. The biscuit was warm and flaky. The poached egg had just the right amount of yolk to cover the chili verde. The chorizo accented the cheese, fresh guacamole, and diced tomatoes. It was an explosion of deliciousness in my mouth. The Elvis toast was simple but filling. Full of protein for that quick energy. The Mount Chilaquiles was very tasty. Came to Toasted on a Saturday afternoon. What I like about this place is that unlike a lot of places in town, you can call ahead and get added to their waitlist so you don't have to stand around waiting outside. With that being said, we called ahead to get added to their waitlist and were sat immediately after arriving. The ambiance here is lively and casual. Our server (but also the restaurant manager) Shana was phenomenal. She explained their seasonal Valentine's Day menu to us and gave us a few recommendations based on what we were craving. I ordered the Abuelita latte and what I really liked was that I could order it hot or iced. I'm an iced coffee person so I was really happy when she said I could also get it iced. I subbed out the dairy for OatMilk, and when I say I am OBSESSED with it; I truly mean it. I could come back just for that latte. Moving on to the food, I ordered the Concha French toast which comes with your choice of country potatoes or hash browns, sausage or bacon, and two eggs cooked to your liking. I went with the country potatoes which were cooked perfectly. Most places I'm always hesitant on ordering country potatoes simply because sometimes they don't get cooked enough but here, they were spot on! I was worried that the concha would make the French toast aspect of it too sweet but I was blown away with how savory it was and to my surprise, it wasn't sweet. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. My girlfriend ordered an assortment of items. She ordered the machaca which came with hash browns, refried beans, and tortillas. She also tried out their avocado toast and subbed out the salad for fries. Overall, we both really enjoyed our breakfast and our experience. My family and I stopped at Toasted for a intimate Feather's Day Breakfast. The restaurant is clean, open format, and inviting. The food was well prepared, detailed and served with top quality in mind. Service on the other hand was not the best quality. Our server seemed to be adjusting to a new role, which my partner and I gracefully accepted. The server did take the orders of two parties that arrived after we did, but it wasn't a big deal. But there was an altercation between our server and a customer right next to our booth. Not sure of the reasoning, but assuming best practices; I think the customer was being really difficult on the new server.
