So months later when we walked past New Fashion House and I saw all the vibrant dresses through the window, I had to go in! The owner (I think) told me that 25% of her clients are Caucasian women - especially around the holiday time. This makes sense as these beautifully decorated gowns are very dressy. You would totally stand out in your memorable outfit, no matter who you are! Sparklies and intrique beading and bright, wonderful colors. The dresses run between $200-$700 on average. Not surprising as they are handmade and very detail-oriented. I saw an orange sari (for $500? I think) that was outrageously gorgeous. It's out of my budget, but would be an amazing addition to a lucky someone's wardrobe this Fall.

A couple weeks later, I saw Deepika Padukone wearing the most stunning ivory sabyasachi saree on IG. We knew it was a must have for my trousseau. Although we were a bit late placing the order, Gurpreet managed to get it to us a few days before leaving to Cabo. I was set to attend an Indian…read morewedding and sangeet over Memorial Day weekend, but I had been recovering from wrist surgery and hadn't had the time or ability to shop for lehengas. To make matters worse, I found out that week that no one would be able to help me pleat and drape the saris that I'd planned to bring. I desperately searched for someone who could pre-pin my saris on short notice, but I didn't have much hope due to the timing. Luckily I found Chhavi, who not only responded to my query almost immediately, but found a way to accommodate my travel timing (I drove from Santa Rosa) so that I could fit our appointment into my work schedule. When I got there, she quickly measured me and explained exactly how she would pleat, iron and pin each sari. When I told her that I had failed to find a lehenga in time, she gave me a recommendation for a designer close by that I could check out while she worked on my saris. But when I mentioned I was concerned about the cost and time to tailor the fit, she took it a step further - she offered me one of her very own beautiful lehengas at a much lower cost! So within 90 minutes of me arriving, she had perfectly pleated, ironed and pinned two saris, she had acted as designer bringing me three lehengas to choose from, and had even altered the top for the lehenga that I chose. She also sent me detailed video instructions on how to put on and secure the pre-pinned sari. I had gone from being utterly unprepared to feeling like a princess ready to own the dance floor. THANK YOU SO MUCH Chhavi for being my fairy godsister and giving me such a wonderful customer experience!

Well guess what, the store is managed by Megha herself. We discussed designs colors, sleeves, neck all that stuff. She took my measurements and sent a few designs over in a couple of days. I chose my pick and everything happened like clockwork. Her team in India made the dress and shipped it to my house. She kept sending me updates of the progress. She helped me style the entire look. I didn't have to go through the struggles of measurements online or buying a dress here and traveling with it. I was absolutely in love with the dress, the work was so intricate and detailed and it fit like a glove. Planning an overseas wedding is hardwork and I'm so glad Megha handled this one big chunk and gave me a super awesome dress! I couldn't have been happier.

The staff were doing their best to help, but I felt uncomfortable hearing the way she spoke to them and directed them on what clothes to show. To me, the way someone treats their staff says a lot about their character and the business as a whole. I take that seriously when deciding where I want to shop. When I asked if they had a particular color for the bridal party, Reeya kept questioning who would choose that color and what it even looked like. The cashier was also rude about the bridal party's color preferences at checkout. I'm only a wedding guest, so those choices aren't mine to make, and I didn't appreciate being treated that way for simply asking. The prices felt very high for the quality. The pants from a $200 kurta pajama outfit ripped after one wear, which was really disappointing. I was also told there would be a two-week wait for a simple hem on a pair of cotton pants--just one inch on each side. That felt ridiculous for such a minor alteration. There are other great stores in the area with better-quality clothes, better customer service, and a much more welcoming experience. Overall, I wouldn't return.

DO NOT GET YOUR WEDDING DRESS ALTERATIONS DONE HERE!!!…read more I purchased my dress at Blossom's and decided to also have my alterations done there because, why not? It's a bridal store, and I trusted that I was leaving my wedding dress with professionals. Unfortunately, they made my dress worse than when I first received it. The delicate threading was damaged, the lace was uneven, the sleeves did not match, and the front of my dress was left crooked and poorly done. I pointed out issues during my fittings and asked for them to be corrected, only to come back and find that they still had not been properly fixed. I ended up having to take my wedding dress to another alterations professional just weeks before my wedding and pay over $500 to repair the damage and fix the alterations that were done here. The second alterations professional had to correct problems that should never have happened in the first place. What makes the situation even worse is the lack of accountability afterward. I was told that the person who altered my dress is an independent contractor. However, she performs alterations inside their store and is the person they provide to customers for alterations. The owner had already sent me a photo of my alteration invoice showing the different alterations that were done to my dress. Later, she told me that according to their records, the only alterations performed were inserting the bra cups and repairing the zipper, and that only $35 could be refunded. However, the invoice she had already sent me clearly showed the additional alterations I had been explaining. Being told something completely different from what was shown on the invoice she personally sent me was extremely concerning and felt dishonest. I was also told that because I took my dress somewhere else to have it fixed before the owner could personally inspect it on me, they could not take responsibility. My wedding was approaching. I was not going to leave my wedding dress damaged just so they could inspect it first. I had already given them opportunities during my fittings to fix the problems, and they were not corrected. Even if only the bra cups and zipper had been altered, how did other parts of my dress that supposedly were not being worked on end up damaged? I asked for a full refund of $550. The owner said she could not give me a refund because of store policy and because the tailor was an independent contractor. She then offered me $200 from her "own pocket" privately, which I found extremely unprofessional considering I paid the store directly for the alterations. I was also told that accepting the $200 would require me to remove my review. I declined to remove my review and continued requesting the full refund. In the end, the full refund was refused, and the $200 offer was also withdrawn after I would not remove my review. This was my wedding dress not an everyday piece of clothing. Having to find someone else at the last minute and spend hundreds of dollars fixing damage caused during alterations was stressful, expensive, and completely unacceptable. The way this situation was handled afterward, especially being given information that contradicted the invoice I had already been sent, felt dishonest and showed a complete lack of accountability. Below are photos of the damage to my dress, along with the invoice showing the alterations that were done. Brides, please be extremely careful before trusting your wedding dress alterations here.
