Usually the menu is marked but is something is able to be altered to make gluten free they will let you know. Three Cats was a great brunch experience for my friend and me this past Saturday. I'm not sure if they serve items of their brunch menu outside of their brunch hours (Saturdays & Sundays from 10-3) but it's definitely worth it! I'm usually not too impressed by brunch, but there are some unique options here. My friend and I made a reservation in advance but you could probably get away with not making one since it wasn't completely full when we sat down at noon. We were given waters pretty quickly and our server took our orders within a reasonable time. DUCK HASH - 17 This was one of the two "Classics" that stood out to me because I don't often see duck on the menu (especially for brunch). If you like duck, I'd definitely recommend giving this a try. There was a good amount of duck pieces that was tender and tasty. The potatoes were a good carb option which all mixed well with the poached egg and sauce. I also liked the sweet cherries in the hash that gave some bites a tart flavor. This also comes with an everyday bagel with a side of strawberry (?) jam and chives cream cheese. I'd highly recommend giving the bagels a generous layer of jam before the cream cheese and eating that together. So delicious!! You got both sweet and savory - my friend and I both thought the quality of food here was good. Anyway, I'd highly recommend getting this entree here as it was very tasty and unique. Overall, great food experience. The interior looks more like a hipster bookstore/antique furniture store instead of your standard brunch restaurant vibes. The bathrooms here are pretty fancy, too. I was impressed with how stylish this restaurant is when I walked in; it is a lot bigger than I imagined too. We came for a birthday party so I got to see a lot of their brunch menu. The bagels looked homemade so I would say the breakfast sandwiches might be the thing to order (although the sausage looked like it was a little awkward to eat since it rolled around a little). The waffles were covered in corn flakes and were pretty good, although it sort of tasted like chicken lol. The soufflé also looked pretty good and it came with a muffin. Super cute place!! Loved the decor and the vibe. It's a little bit of a gift shop, too. The food was very good. We both just got the 2 eggs, potatoes and sausage. My friend also got the red pepper soup. Delicious!!! I got ordered regular pork sausage, the other order was Turkey sausage and each was well made and tastes great. It came with a lovely house made bagel. I don't know what brand of coffee they serve....but it was so good it's worth mentioning!! A few of my friends have recommended Three Cats so I ventured out for Sunday brunch with my friend J. The cafe is a big airy space with lots of light. The cafe also has a wide assortment of greeting cards for every occasion as well as other gift items if you need something to do while waiting for your table. We started with some brunch cocktails, a spicy bloody Mary for J, and I had what was called the Chocolatey Wasted. Think boozy chocolate milkshake 50's-diner style. It was delicious! I had the Southern Benny with pork belly, biscuits, and pepper gravy. J ordered the avocado toast flatbread. J thought her flatbread was short on avocado and too much fluff. So perhaps when ordering this dish, ask for extra avocado? In any case, she finished it off. We also ordered a side of bacon. Yum! I will definitely return for brunch in the future! My BF and I both had the mushroom quiche and green salad. O.M.G....my mouth was so happy!! The lemony salad dressing was so delicious--I would have taken a bottle of that home had they sold it! We also had the tomato bisque, which we thought tasted a bit like a delicious pizza sauce. Be patient with the servers...they were terribly understaffed, but all of the staff were really running. My wife & had dinner here for the first time. It was very easy to find. It has a Clawson theatre marquee. The atmosphere is wonderful. As we walked it we were welcomed. Heide was our waitress. Her service was outstanding. I had the Legally Blonde drink. It was great. I then had the Tomato Soup ( very tasty). My main course was the Sweet Beet Salad with sliced flat iron steak on top. My wife had Risotto with wild mushrooms and Shrimp. She, very much, enjoyed it. For dessert we split a piece of Chocolate Cake. All the food was wonderful. We were served on old china. The presentation was also outstanding (pictures below). There was a singer and she was wonderful. We were told about the Saturday & Sunday brunch. A friend recommended Three Cats for a long due get-together dinner. We parked easily in their lot. The place felt inviting the moment we stepped in. Nice ambiance. Airy ceiling and eclectic sense of casual, sophisticated, sporty, social, and nostalgic. I did not notice the classic red car (old Saab) until we were seated next to it. Cool car for dinner company! After we claimed our table, we took a little tour into the adjoining LuLu's store. It felt like walking into an old country store, but had some really nice and interesting pieces of furniture of different styles all leaning toward the compact size with a large mingling display of other interesting items, big and small, unique, memorabilia, art, and more. We didn't buy anything but we talked about coming back to take our time going through the entire place, kind of large place, used to be a skating rink in its previous life (I skated here in my previous life). Back to the dinner table. The waiter was friendly and informative and acted as our sommelier and recommended a wine we all loved. The atmosphere was enticing for a lively fun conversation. The food at that point did not seem important, but when it arrived it looked great. Mine was white fish ('what the cat dragged in' per menu). It came with green beans that looked and tasted great even though I am not a big fan of green beans. It also came with a side of potatoes. I am a potato connoisseur and eat a lot of it, and this was one of the best - smashed with a light coat of seasoning and Parmesan (I think) broiled to perfection. Stopped here for dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening. We were seated right away and had a server, James, at our table immediately. Water was brought quickly and we ordered after hearing the specials. I had the Baked Potato Soup, which was thick and creamy and the Roasted Sweet Potato and Beet Salad. The salad was quite large and had plenty of sweet potatoes and beets. It was a little heavy on the shallots, but was still delicious! I was pretty underwhelmed unfortunately. The place is incredibly cute and the decor is stunning. Clearly whoever was designing the place has a great eye for interior decorating. We were able to be seated immediately and the hostess was nice enough to let us shop around before being seated. Unfortunately, this is a case of a restaurant being nothing more than meets the eye. We ordered fries ($8) to share which were the highlight of the meal. From there, the Caesar salad ($14) was overdressed and average. My filet ($30) was under seasoned and gummy - easily the biggest disappointment. Dessert (a $12 brownie sundae) was a slight improvement from the meal but it's hard to mess up brownies and ice cream. Service was fine but our server was very brusque and almost seemed to "throw" our food at us. My dinner alone was almost $100 which I thought was way too high for the quality of the food. Leon and Lulu has been in staple in the downtown Clawson community, so adding Three Cats was a cherry on top. I have been to Three Cats when it used to be called Three Cats Café and have seen it grown. The historic building and eclectic décor is cheerful and welcoming. My most recent visit included lunch with co-workers. We made reservations and upon arrival were quickly seated. It filled up pretty decently for lunch. Our waitress was okay - not overly friendly had a slight attitude when we asked for our bill to be split and she wouldn't split it. Ordered soft drinks and never was offered a refill. One staff member was great with taking away dirty plates and refilling waters. The service also got slow with not getting cashed out until 115p, when we arrived at noon. So be cautious if you have to be back at work at a certain time. The food is delicious but expect small portions and high prices. I went with the 3-soup sampler and a sample is about a few ounces, just enough to try and taste. All three soups were delicious. I also got the confit flatbread which again, tasted delicious but not a lot of food for $16. Enjoyed the atmosphere and food but would only come back for special occasions or happy hour. They had a great beer/wine/cocktail menu but can't drink on the job, so will save that for another time. read more

We decided to come here last minute on a Saturday morning. We were able to be seated right away. The space is really unique and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is in an old theater and they lean into that a bit which is fun. Cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced. The food is a bit pricier but I feel it is justified for the quality of the food. Our party of three had zero complaints. Service was very attentive and courteous. We are already planning on going back for dinner service! Will definitely come back for another brunch as well (hopefully on a sunny day so we can enjoy the patio). I went here for a cocktail making class and it was for the classics. We had cosmopolitans and a Manhattan. It highlighted Valentine vodka and bourbon. There were a few apps provided. A shrimp cocktail, (a shrimp), flatbread with salmon and capers, and a slider. Nice piece of shrimp and slider was also good. Drinks were not full pours. We decided to stay and eat. I ordered a drink that didn't taste like I thought, the waiter was kind enough to make again, it was a little better. My friends had the beet salad and they enjoyed it. I had the butternut risotto. I expected something a bit more from the risotto. It needed more salt and something else. I didn't finish it. I do love this store front and next door. Three cats is an eclectic restaurant with such a unique decor and vibe. We got there at 3:30pm and were told that they were closed but would reopen at 4pm for dinner service. So our names were put down on the reservation list. 4pm came around and we still hadn't received a text or cal saying our table was ready, so we walked back over and realized that they'd seated others that had just walked in, so I had to approach the hostess stand and inform her I had a 4pm reservation - to which she looked on the tablet and had us wait another 5 minutes. Once we were seated, our server, who was great, bought us water and asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for recommendations and he said he was a huge seafood lover, so we ordered three seafood plates and they were all phenomenal. I ordered the pan fried salmon over risotto, and it was all around cooked to perfection. Sometimes salmon can be overly fishy, but this wasn't in the slightest. We also ordered the crab cakes, which I had a bite of, and it was crisp on the outside - soft on the inside - light, fluffy and flavorful. My sister ordered the seafood pasta, I only tried the pasta and it too was flavorful and perfectly cooked. All around, the food tasted great, portions were on the smaller side though. The whole restaurant also acts as a store where you can buy hilarious cards for various occasions and they also have a furniture shop next door with the same owner if you want to see more. The coffee here is also amazing, it's from Sabbath and would highly recommend. Most of the menu items here are good, although I usually get huevos rancheros as my go-to brunch item and didn't love the one here. The french toast is especially good, and have enjoyed most other items I tried. read more

Well I tried again because they have music on Thursday nights, but the food is still not good or worth the $'s. Our waitress was not good and left us sitting way too long after giving us our menu - 15 minutes before she returned to get our drink order. Wow. We order a beet salad to split, my bf got the burger & I order the salmon flatbread. I'm pretty sure the beets were canned pickled because I could see the can lines on the beet slices. I was so disappointed, I thought they would be fresh roasted for $14 salad. My flatbread looked like it had leftover pieces of salmon from someone's dinner, undercooked flatbread and I couldn't taste the boursin cream. My bf's burger was ok, the lardons were fatty and horrible and inedible. My glass of wine was $11, my bf's bourbon was $15, the check came to $77 for a crappy meal and bad service .Our waitresses demeanor was not great, plates slapped down, took our food when we weren't done, just no skill. I told my bf, tell me no if I ever suggest trying this again. They need to change their model. Less fancy. More basic. Music is good, capitalize on that and serve decent, less expensive food. read more

Super kid -friendly and spacious for a weeknight dinner. The mushroom soup was raved about by my sisters, so I tried it, along with the salmon. My husband had a pork chop, and my son had a hamburger. The salmon was absolutely perfect -- served with a delicious and not-too-heavy risotto. The soup was good flavor-wise, but was too salty for me on the whole. My husband devoured the pork chop, and my son -- a notoriously picky toddler -- loved his burger. Would definitely come back. I went for dinner with a large group of friends. I made the reservation through the phone, and it was a very easy process. Making adjustments afterward was very easy too. Plus, they will remind you of the reservation. The overall experience was very pleasant. The restaurant has private parking, which is another plus because finding parking downtown on a Friday night can be a headache. The place was really spacious, and the interior was very cute! The decoration is a mixture of all sorts of random things with an old vintage vibe that somehow feels like being in a circus. It's really odd, but it's great. The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu is pretty big, and there are some vegan/vegetarian-friendly options. I went for the duck confit and exotic mushroom strudel and also shared the salmon flatbread. The exotic mushroom strudel looked beautiful! Stunning presentation. Nice contrasting colors. And they taste as delicious as they looked. The exterior was crispy and the sauce was delicious. The flatbread is very hearty and comforting. The duck is tender and the flavors are on point. I made a reservation online for brunch this past weekend with a group of friends. When we arrived the place was practically empty and yet we were told we would have to wait. Tried to get a drink at the bar while we waited but there was no bartender and the servers ignored us. Twenty minutes after we arrived, and past our reservation time, we were seated at a table that was empty the whole time we were waiting. Our server was absolutely terrible, and that's an understatement. Not only did he lack proper training he had a bad attitude. The food was decent but overpriced for the small portions. Three Cats is one of the prettiest, most interestingly decorated restaurants in the Detroit burbs. I've looked forward to returning for several years. Yesterday I came for lunch with a good friend. I left with mixed feelings. We had a reservation, but we had to wait for a table, even though the table where we were eventually seated had been empty for several minutes. Odd. My friend and I enjoyed our choices from the appealing menu, but the portions were not generous. I had a flavorful arugula salad and she had the crabcake sandwich. The sandwich was quite small and came only with three little pickle chips on the plate. I wanted to ask our server for some black pepper for my salad, but she never stopped by to inquire if we needed anything. The food is very good, but my absolute favorite is the mushroom soup. Don't get a cup, get a bowl. I love mushrooms, and this soup made me swoon! Yes, swoon with a spoon! I can't even say enough about it. I had a veggie sammie with it and it was insanely good. The service is A-1, with everyone from the hostess to the servers act like their job is to please you at all costs. I can't even wait to return.
