Definitely an attractive, quirky, interesting, repurposed old movie theatre that offers a very comfortable dining experience. Ambience and friendly, attentive service were the highlights of the dining experience. Five stars here. Overall, our dinners were well plated and sounded interesting, but lacked the flavor, heat and texture we were expecting. Three to four stars but definitely not five. I had the mushroom risotto with scallops added for $8. The tiny pile of teeny-tiny scallops were flavorless and not worth $8. The risotto was not hot or creamy enough and the mushrooms were tough, lacking flavor. It sure looked pretty though. My husband enjoyed his pork chop though initially felt the applesauce was too much. He scraped it off his meat then went back and ate it separately, saying it was really good. The potatoes were good and his pork chop was tended. Our daughter said her flat iron steak was very good, though the dish was thick in a dark brown gravy. In my opinion, the crispy brussel sprout appetizer was the most delicious. By contrast, the mushroom soup was pretty, but wasn't flavorful, creamy or hot enough. Initially my husband rated his entree a five star. When the bill arrived, he was surprised. Our tab came to $165 with tip (no drinks or dessert). The photos for brunch look yummy and I assume the price would be more reasonable. My recommendation is to skip the dinner and come try the brunch. read more

Wonderful brunch! I really enjoyed eating on the outside patio. I had a mock tail/cattail called Coyote Ugly and it was fabulous! The black berry syrup was not available so we substituted it with blueberry syrup and it was delicious. I had two of these refreshing drinks. I ordered the Benedict and I loved it. A bagel on the bottom, topped with wilted greens, asparagus, green goddess crème fraiche and perfectly poached eggs. Normally I find asparagus to be a strong, overwhelming flavor but not with this dish. Everything blended perfectly and was delicious. It was served with a side of potato hash and they were the best breakfast potatoes I've had in a long time. Inside is very large, has really cool decor, and fun merchandise. Excellent and friendly service. Private, free parking lot. I look forward to coming back for dinner. read more

It's been a while since I've visited, so I was excited to return to Three Cats for brunch this morning! Service overall was pretty slow, we were here for just over 2 hours. When we had ordered, the food came out super quick but since then, we never saw our waitress, my water never got refilled, and it got to the point we had to flag someone down to get us our check. I ordered the crab benedict and I would not call that a crab cake, there was hardly any breading to hold it together it just 99% crab meat. The poached egg on top was overcooked -- the yolk was completely cooked through instead of runny like a Benedict should be. Overall a bit disappointing from what I remember the last time I visited probably in 2023. I will say I highly appreciate the parking lot addition they put in around the back! Brunch is really the best way to try this place. Been here for a couple of brunches and a couple of dinners, brunch is always good while dinner is hit or miss. I ordered eggs over easy and they came out perfect. Paired with ham and toast, very good meal. Others enjoy their mushroom souffle and beet salad. But it was the chocolate mousse with berries that was the reason many of us came. The creme brulee is also good. Prices are higher than most places and that is the draw back. It was over $30 for my meal. This is a treat not a regular place. read more

Three Cats was a great brunch experience for my friend and me this past Saturday. I'm not sure if they serve items of their brunch menu outside of their brunch hours (Saturdays & Sundays from 10-3) but it's definitely worth it! I'm usually not too impressed by brunch, but there are some unique options here. My friend and I made a reservation in advance but you could probably get away with not making one since it wasn't completely full when we sat down at noon. We were given waters pretty quickly and our server took our orders within a reasonable time. DUCK HASH - 17 This was one of the two "Classics" that stood out to me because I don't often see duck on the menu (especially for brunch). If you like duck, I'd definitely recommend giving this a try. There was a good amount of duck pieces that was tender and tasty. The potatoes were a good carb option which all mixed well with the poached egg and sauce. I also liked the sweet cherries in the hash that gave some bites a tart flavor. This also comes with an everyday bagel with a side of strawberry (?) jam and chives cream cheese. I'd highly recommend giving the bagels a generous layer of jam before the cream cheese and eating that together. So delicious!! You got both sweet and savory - my friend and I both thought the quality of food here was good. Anyway, I'd highly recommend getting this entree here as it was very tasty and unique. Overall, great food experience. The interior looks more like a hipster bookstore/antique furniture store instead of your standard brunch restaurant vibes. The bathrooms here are pretty fancy, too. I was impressed with how stylish this restaurant is when I walked in; it is a lot bigger than I imagined too. We came for a birthday party so I got to see a lot of their brunch menu. The bagels looked homemade so I would say the breakfast sandwiches might be the thing to order (although the sausage looked like it was a little awkward to eat since it rolled around a little). The waffles were covered in corn flakes and were pretty good, although it sort of tasted like chicken lol. The soufflé also looked pretty good and it came with a muffin. I ordered the beet salad and it was a little smaller than I expected. It was just ok compared to similar salads that I have ordered. read more

We have been here many times, but we were SO disappointed in the food this time. I got the scallop special which was 3 little scallops (not big like the waiter said) on a thin sauce with 3 sections of grapefruit. The scallops tasted like ammonia, and I could not eat them. I did eat one and was worried all night I would get food poisoning. Thank goodness I didn't but I don't think I will be eating scallops for a while if ever again. Super cute place!! Loved the decor and the vibe. It's a little bit of a gift shop, too. The food was very good. We both just got the 2 eggs, potatoes and sausage. My friend also got the red pepper soup. Delicious!!! I got ordered regular pork sausage, the other order was Turkey sausage and each was well made and tastes great. It came with a lovely house made bagel. I don't know what brand of coffee they serve....but it was so good it's worth mentioning!! A few of my friends have recommended Three Cats so I ventured out for Sunday brunch with my friend J. The cafe is a big airy space with lots of light. The cafe also has a wide assortment of greeting cards for every occasion as well as other gift items if you need something to do while waiting for your table. We started with some brunch cocktails, a spicy bloody Mary for J, and I had what was called the Chocolatey Wasted. Think boozy chocolate milkshake 50's-diner style. It was delicious! I had the Southern Benny with pork belly, biscuits, and pepper gravy. J ordered the avocado toast flatbread. J thought her flatbread was short on avocado and too much fluff. So perhaps when ordering this dish, ask for extra avocado? In any case, she finished it off. We also ordered a side of bacon. Yum! I will definitely return for brunch in the future! My BF and I both had the mushroom quiche and green salad. O.M.G....my mouth was so happy!! The lemony salad dressing was so delicious--I would have taken a bottle of that home had they sold it! We also had the tomato bisque, which we thought tasted a bit like a delicious pizza sauce. Be patient with the servers...they were terribly understaffed, but all of the staff were really running. Coming here is always such a dream. Everyone is so kind. The ambiance and vibes are comfortable and relaxing. The food is always amazing and the drinks are spectacular. I have a gluten allergy and have never had an issue eating here. The wait staff and the chef make sure to accommodate and help me navigate their menu for the best options. Usually the menu is marked but is something is able to be altered to make gluten free they will let you know. My wife & had dinner here for the first time. It was very easy to find. It has a Clawson theatre marquee. The atmosphere is wonderful. As we walked it we were welcomed. Heide was our waitress. Her service was outstanding. I had the Legally Blonde drink. It was great. I then had the Tomato Soup ( very tasty). My main course was the Sweet Beet Salad with sliced flat iron steak on top. My wife had Risotto with wild mushrooms and Shrimp. She, very much, enjoyed it. For dessert we split a piece of Chocolate Cake. All the food was wonderful. We were served on old china. The presentation was also outstanding (pictures below). There was a singer and she was wonderful. We were told about the Saturday & Sunday brunch. Water was brought quickly and we ordered after hearing the specials. I had the Baked Potato Soup, which was thick and creamy and the Roasted Sweet Potato and Beet Salad. The salad was quite large and had plenty of sweet potatoes and beets. It was a little heavy on the shallots, but was still delicious! I was pretty underwhelmed unfortunately. The place is incredibly cute and the decor is stunning. Clearly whoever was designing the place has a great eye for interior decorating. We were able to be seated immediately and the hostess was nice enough to let us shop around before being seated. Unfortunately, this is a case of a restaurant being nothing more than meets the eye. We ordered fries ($8) to share which were the highlight of the meal. From there, the Caesar salad ($14) was overdressed and average. My filet ($30) was under seasoned and gummy - easily the biggest disappointment. Dessert (a $12 brownie sundae) was a slight improvement from the meal but it's hard to mess up brownies and ice cream. Service was fine but our server was very brusque and almost seemed to "throw" our food at us. My dinner alone was almost $100 which I thought was way too high for the quality of the food. Leon and Lulu has been in staple in the downtown Clawson community, so adding Three Cats was a cherry on top. I have been to Three Cats when it used to be called Three Cats Café and have seen it grown. The historic building and eclectic décor is cheerful and welcoming. My most recent visit included lunch with co-workers. We made reservations and upon arrival were quickly seated. It filled up pretty decently for lunch. Our waitress was okay - not overly friendly had a slight attitude when we asked for our bill to be split and she wouldn't split it. Ordered soft drinks and never was offered a refill. One staff member was great with taking away dirty plates and refilling waters. The service also got slow with not getting cashed out until 115p, when we arrived at noon. So be cautious if you have to be back at work at a certain time. The food is delicious but expect small portions and high prices. I went with the 3-soup sampler and a sample is about a few ounces, just enough to try and taste. All three soups were delicious. I also got the confit flatbread which again, tasted delicious but not a lot of food for $16. Enjoyed the atmosphere and food but would only come back for special occasions or happy hour. They had a great beer/wine/cocktail menu but can't drink on the job, so will save that for another time. read more

I went here for a cocktail making class and it was for the classics. We had cosmopolitans and a Manhattan. It highlighted Valentine vodka and bourbon. There were a few apps provided. A shrimp cocktail, (a shrimp), flatbread with salmon and capers, and a slider. Nice piece of shrimp and slider was also good. Drinks were not full pours. We decided to stay and eat. I ordered a drink that didn't taste like I thought, the waiter was kind enough to make again, it was a little better. My friends had the beet salad and they enjoyed it. I had the butternut risotto. I expected something a bit more from the risotto. It needed more salt and something else. I didn't finish it. I do love this store front and next door. We decided to come here last minute on a Saturday morning. We were able to be seated right away. The space is really unique and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is in an old theater and they lean into that a bit which is fun. Cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced. The food is a bit pricier but I feel it is justified for the quality of the food. Our party of three had zero complaints. Service was very attentive and courteous. We are already planning on going back for dinner service! Will definitely come back for another brunch as well (hopefully on a sunny day so we can enjoy the patio). Three cats is an eclectic restaurant with such a unique decor and vibe. We got there at 3:30pm and were told that they were closed but would reopen at 4pm for dinner service. So our names were put down on the reservation list. 4pm came around and we still hadn't received a text or cal saying our table was ready, so we walked back over and realized that they'd seated others that had just walked in, so I had to approach the hostess stand and inform her I had a 4pm reservation - to which she looked on the tablet and had us wait another 5 minutes. Once we were seated, our server, who was great, bought us water and asked what we wanted to drink. We asked for recommendations and he said he was a huge seafood lover, so we ordered three seafood plates and they were all phenomenal. I ordered the pan fried salmon over risotto, and it was all around cooked to perfection. Sometimes salmon can be overly fishy, but this wasn't in the slightest. We also ordered the crab cakes, which I had a bite of, and it was crisp on the outside - soft on the inside - light, fluffy and flavorful. My sister ordered the seafood pasta, I only tried the pasta and it too was flavorful and perfectly cooked. All around, the food tasted great, portions were on the smaller side though. The whimsical theater themed ambiance makes it a worthy visit. There are so many things to look at and greeting cards along the wall for purchase. I am more of a dog person but let's not make it this about that, I love the name of this place it makes me think of really good Times food and beverages anytime I see a car with some witty inscription talking about how much they love cats I think of this place so come try it out even if you're a dog person you'll like this place but if you're a cat person you will love it and if you don't own any animals well go out and adopt one there's plenty of places to adopt animals around metro Detroit and then once you adopt one come back here and have some good food.
