Went here for dinner with my husband, we sat by the window which has a beautiful view of the vineyards across the way. Our waitress was kind and knowledgeable. We ordered two sample flights, sweet and mixed. I didnt care for the warm ones but ended up buying two bottles of a local wine. We order a cheese board and everything on it was delicious. I've never had bison before and it was good. We did t care for the melon that was on the board. We also ordered bruschetta, the little bread sliced were way too hard, i had to soak them in the juices, but the Brie spread was really good. It was pricey for the two of us, but we enjoyed ourselves and will be back to try other foods. read more

Have eaten here a few times during this pandemic they were struggling : I ordered a salad and took one bite found a large piece of plastic. Although they did everything to correct the situation I still have an impacting memory. I recently visited again for their Saturday nite concert and we didn't get a choice of our entree everyone was served salmon I wasn't looking forward to it but honestly they have redeemed themselves in my mind the chef whoever it is id ike to congratulate for pulling off a dinner of salmon to maybe 200 or more attending the venue. Thornton Winery is open for Saturday Lunch and wine tasting. COVID 19 had us on lockdown since March 13th and we had to do something different and safe. We had a party of eight and the service, atmosphere, food choices and deserts were excellent. The large area was peaceful and spread out. This might turn into a monthly outing. We haven't been to Thornton winery in years and being Temecula residents ....we received a generous $300 gift card! So my neighbor and I went there for lunch this week, and I was absolutely blown away by several things. We were the only people eating there. The prices are absolutely through the roof, $29 for a burger, we paid $31 for a flatbread pizza. It was dry and had very little toppings. I will say that the chocolate bread pudding was divine but for $70 plus tip it was a bust... I'm left with a gift card with $230 on it lol They served me a cup of coffee that you could read a newspaper through the clear glass cup‼ when I asked how come, the coffee looked and tasted like water they nicely, took it back and investigated only to find there are no coffee beans in the coffee machine... The wait staff was very pleasant. I cannot understand why a restaurant would think they are so special that they could charge so much more than the other restaurants that are right outside of the Wine country area in Temecula! The view is nice outside the window, but... the ambiance is nothing. I suppose tourists who flock to Temecula Wine country think this is normal, but it isn't.... I brought home the paper menu and I was reading it tonight and they have the nerve to charge us a 3% surcharge on our food due to their increased costs... I recently went to a concert at Thornton Winery. It had been quite awhile since I had been at Thornton. I have always loved the food and atmosphere. However, this time...I have to say I was DISAPPOINTED. First, the line just to wait for doors to open was among the parked cars. NO room to stand, and people were bunched up; no cones or rope to section off the line from the parked cars. You were literally up against, squeezed in by the parked cars. Second, the venue... as nice as it was being outdoors, even though it was a chilly evening, it wasn't bad. The problem was that it was so tight. Aren't we still trying to have safe 'social distancing'...? So for General Admission, I get it...we don't get anything fancy; however, we did not need to be packed like sardines. It was not comfortable (for me) to be able to enjoy the concert. Third, the food. The menu items...not much to choose from (VERY limited). Whomever made the food choices did not take into consideration the seating arrangements (at least for those of us in GA). We had to use our lap as our table, squeezed in like sardines... not pleasant at all. Having a good concert experience is NOT only about the Headliner. It's the venue, atmosphere and the experience. We went with friends that drove 2hours to come down. Regardless of the price of the ticket, it was not worth driving this far for them. They said they would pay a little more to go somewhere else, where the seating was more comfortable. Minor changes to the seating set-up would go a long way. Come on Mr Thornton...you have a beautiful Winery, and great wines (which I didn't mind paying $68/bottle); however, you need to re-think the venue set-up/atmosphere. It's not about the quantity, its about the quality of the experience. I will give kudos to the staff at Thornton. Especially the two young Ladies that checked everyone in and provided the wristbands!! I don't know that I would go back for a concert. As much as I LOVE their Jazz Concert series and the fact that I live local...I would have no problem driving out of town, pay a little more and have a better experience!! read more

Went here over the weekend to celebrate my sisters birthday. We were a party of 8 and we went to take my sister to Temecula for her first time. This was the worst experience I had in Temecula our food was terrible! Everything was cold and seemed it had been sitting out for so long. And it took hours to get out food. It was hurtful to pay for a large bill that the food sucked and I had to ask three waiters to ask our own waiter to get us drinks. The worst part of this location was they sat us in the corner inside and the entire time all we smelled was shit cause we sat right next to the restrooms. Never will I go to this place again. We were excited to visit this winery but we're disappointed with the cold greeting. Prices are elevated and the customer service is lack luster. Why would a BLT cost $26? We decided to try a wine tasting and the server dropped the tastings down with a place mat describing the wines and not a description or conversation another grapes, vineyard, estate or description of the notes. First negative was a 30 minute wait for a drink, and 1 woman pouring at the outdoor bar. Second, we ordered 3 water bottles, 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. They charged $65! We looked at her and said there was a mistake, and she charged us $36 for a BOTTLE when we clearly said A GLASS of wine! With a long line, and a warm day, then she said WE had to go talk to a manager cause she could not void the deal and start over! Wow. Terrible customer service. They clearly don't give a crap except to fleece folks. Lastly, my friend ordered a hamburger, and it was $25! For a burger! Last time visiting here...... Stefanie was so super sweet and accommodating. We went in with our Aussie and were immediately greeted with open arms to their dog friendly patio. Stef loved our dog and even showed us pictures of her own Pup, Sadie. Even the FOH manager came out to say hello to our little guy. So it took me some time to write this review up. My friends took me to this Winery for my birthday about 2 or 3 months ago and it was our first time there. When we first arrived it took a while to be seated, it didn't seem like the servers were interested in seating us. Unfortunately we felt very out of place and felt neglected by the servers. We ended up ordering some flights and then proceeded to order off the menu. The prices seemed a little high and the food was okay. I definitely don't mind paying competitive prices for food but I also expect the same level of taste and quality. I wish I could say the restaurant was nice and the Ambiance was nice but it was pretty crowded. We were seated outside and it was hot as hell. So I guess the good thing is we got buzzed a little faster than usual thanks for the Heat and the alcohol. After an hour or two the magic of our Buzz disappeared and reality set in, where we weren't very impressed. I think sometimes businesses have an off-day but who knows. Unfortunately I don't think we'd be coming back to this Winery so we ended up going to our go to winery Ponte. read more

We ordered the apple fries however and they were terrible. Soggy, greasy and just awful. The wine is decent. Again, not great but not bad. Our server however was wonderful. The folks that work here were solicitous and energetic and attentive. Ok...thats the good part. I feel like price gauging at its finest was occurring here. Sandwiches $25.00....and bread was noticeably stale, so much so my two friends advised waiter of such...to no avail. I had a costco euro salad w/ chicken, which was $19.00. Daughter had a burger she did not eat $25, ..in other words sub par all the way round. Not to mention a bottle of sparkling wine $28.00...$11 per small glass. However all would have been forgiven if the Rolling Stone tribute band was worth listening to....and they were not. Who wants to go to a Rolling Stone tribute and listen to the slow songs of the stones and done badly. Dear heavens. Thornton is pricey...and for what? When we ordered a flight of wine, she said they were too busy to serve flights. There were only 4 other tables at the time. She did allow us to order a flight---after a long, drawn out sigh. We left our debit card at the table, and when we returned she literally BARKED "ID!!" twice before my husband could comprehend that she was literally screaming orders at him. One of the favorite events my wife and I have during May Through October is to go to wineries to,listen to great music while drinking wine. This past weekend we finally went to the Thornton winery to hear Pete White and Vince Ingala. Thornton's jazz lineup every year is 2nd to none, so we finally made the trip from Laguna Niguel to the venue. The concert itself I would give a 5+ rating. White and Ingala are both incredible musicians on their own, but they were so tight and played off each other beautifully. It was 2 hours of upbeat, fun that had the whole place moving. The venue was a beautiful setting. While it was 100 degrees when we arrived, much of the GA seats were in the shade by showtime. There was a nice breeze and temperature dropped to a comfortable level. As the night darkened a beautiful light show lit up the stage. The venue held a manageable seating capacity. It was really a wonderful time. The reason my overall rating is a 4 is due to the extras around the music. The wine was ok, but why is the price of a bottle (only way to but wine) marked up over the retail cost of the bottle at the winery? The choice of bbq, bacon cheese burger or turkey/brie on-a croissant was good, but pricy. You cannot bring in food and drink, which I understand, but water should be allowed. All things said, we had a great time and will return. The lineup and venue are outstanding. read more
