I was really looking forward to visiting Mond Palomar for their Salsa Night. I even made a reservation specifically for that event. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found out that Salsa Night had been moved to Saturday. There was no announcement on their website or social media, and no one contacted us to let us know about the change. Instead, there was a rock band playing, which wasn't what we had planned our evening around. It was disappointing because we chose this place specifically for the salsa music and dancing. I hope they do a better job communicating schedule changes in the future. A simple update online or a message to guests with reservations would have saved us the trip and the disappointment. read more

Ok I really enjoyed myself on this wine tasting tour. They also had the really great wine tastings!!! We got 5 tastings here. My fav here is the Brut and pineapple coconut sparkling!! It was so tasty and flavorful!!! The service was also pretty good to handle a huge party. The ambiance was really nice and very spacious!!! They have live entertainment outside and restaurant if you want food. I like how they had chips to buy at the tasting counter to snack on. I promise you those Miss Vickie's chips were on point!!! They also had tequila tasting if you wanted!!! I didn't try but next time I will you just have to reserve it. The wine room is also cute where they have all the wine barrels inside. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in January, and I decided to see what Mount Palomar had to offer, as I was seeking a new place to become a member. Somewhat of a different vibe, with regards to my preferred atmosphere when it comes to wineries. I am there for the wine, and the atmosphere is either a positive or negative impact on my enjoyment based upon how much the wine is neglected, and the entertainment and vibe is in the forefront. Dancing , loud never-ending music, and patrons screaming at the top of their lungs is interfering with the enjoyment of the grape product. Went to mount Palomar on a Wednesday afternoon, arrived around 1:30 and it was super quiet! Had lunch, then did a tasting. All of the staff was extremely friendly!! I had read prior to coming it was dog friendly outdoors but the staff here said my dog could go anywhere! It was 90 outside and was great to have the dog inside the tasting room with us! Mt Palomar had a Groupon, and I decided to take my BF since he went there when he was 21! The winery is far back from the road, so you could drive right by and completely miss it. There is a large courtyard with greek statues and flowers, like your on Mt Olympus. I've been to this winery a couple of times now. Both times I have attended concerts there, most recently this weekend. The winery grounds are very nice, and it is pretty big, perfect for outdoor concerts. Service is decent, but I am not impressed with their wines. Some of the slowest and aloof service I've ever received. People were pleasant but we were one of about 4 or 5 tables. Sat around 3:30 and it took 30 minutes to receive our drinks. We got our drinks AFTER we finished our food. No apologies, and no acknowledgment that the drinks trickled in as we were eating. We stopped by this winery on a Sunday morning, just looking for something a little different before our next stop on the wine trail. The location itself is beautiful, nestled between hills with a lovely view of the lake. The atmosphere was enhanced by a live band, which really set a nice vibe for the day. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the surroundings. I had the poke nachos, which were fine--nothing special, but certainly not bad. My wife ordered a flatbread that ended up being pretty dry; she ate two pieces and left the rest. Our friends had a salad and a smash burger that they said was good. Service was a bit slower than expected, especially since there were only four groups inside. It didn't feel overly busy, but our server was also handling the patio area, which had several families seated. It was a bit noisy outside with kids playing, which didn't exactly mix well with the live music. All in all, if you're looking for a nice spot to enjoy some wine and take in the scenery, it's worth a visit. Just don't come with high expectations for the food, and be prepared for some lively (and loud) energy if you're dining outside and there are families present. First, the buffet was setup outside, then after the bunson burners kept blowing out they moved it inside. 1 room overlooking a half drained pond next to a storage shed was the view. Second, the total amount of food buffet dishes consisted of French toast slices, half empty & cold, pancakes, some burned on edges & again half empty & cold, scrambled eggs, watery & bland, Jimmy dean sausage links, scrivled, bacon slices, cold, and then pasta rigatoni with some shredded cheese melted on top!! Seriously? 1 small bowl of salad green mix, 1 small cheese board with a bunch of grapes & diced mixed cheese cubes. I would've made a better meal at home. Absolutely unacceptable experience at Palomar Winery on May 8. The service was beyond frustrating and honestly ruined the entire visit. We repeatedly tried to order food from the bar while waiting in TWO separate drink lines, and every single time we were told, "your server will come to your table." Spoiler alert: no server ever came. We sat there for TWO HOURS being ignored while staff kept passing the responsibility around instead of helping us. Meanwhile, we watched time go by, got our drinks, waited patiently, asked multiple times, and still nobody took our order. Then the kitchen closed and we never got food at all. No apology, no urgency, no accountability. If your staff is too disorganized to serve guests or communicate properly, then don't tell customers to wait for service that never comes. The gentleman who assisted us didn't ask us if we were interested in the wine tasting. He asked us what bottle we wanted to try, which I was confused because the usually offer flights of their specialty wines. We ordered a charcuterie board and a flat bread pizza, which took an hour to get. This winery offers a rustic tasting room as well as restaurant in which you can order drinks and enjoy the views of the spacious winery where they have plenty of seating. Bartender was extremely helpful and made me a special drink off the menu based on what I was looking for. Pricing for drinks are more on the expensive side compared to wineries close by. My first visit to Mount Palomar was with a group on a weekday as the winery tasting room opened at 11am. Our server was quick to inform us that in addition to our group of 20+, she also had a member arriving with 40 guests at the same time...and she was the only one working! Our group always gives wineries the heads-up a day or two prior so they can plan their staffing accordingly. So that welcome didn't feel very warm and sent the message (intentional or not) that an existing member and their guests were going to take priority. So although I had planned to do a tasting, I opted for a glass instead to simplify things since our server seemed harried, even though I was among the first few to arrive before things got busy. I struggled to find a red that I enjoyed, so after a small sip of three wines, I landed on a glass of Vernal Equinox 2016 (a Zin Merlot Cinsault blend). It was just ok, but definitely not great. The indoor tasting room was nice but small, so we sat outside. Being a cool morning, I had to search and find someone to turn on the one heater on the patio. We definitely could have used a few more heaters... The winery is situated on a hilltop with beautiful views and nice grounds. They have a restaurant which we didn't try. I feel this might have been a better experience had there been an adequate number of servers to enable more of us to do tastings. It surprised me that I didn't like three of the six reds they offer, as I always seem to find something that appeals to me at other Temecula wineries. The lone server didn't really engage or give us any information on the winery history, operations, restaurant, etc. Consequently, eight of us left to enjoy lunch at another winery restaurant (the new Vienza at Europa) which was excellent! read more

Cute winery BUT the service and food really lacked! My husband treated myself, his mom, and my mom for Mother's Day. We had a table of 7. When we were assisted to our table, there was only 6 chairs. I asked for another chair and the host grabbed a chair from the corner and just set it next to my husband to pick up the chair and move to the other side of the table!! We all sat there for a while waiting for a server. There was PLENTY of staff and most of them just hung out behind the bar most of the time. I understand the need for a few people to be back there but not 8-10 at a time just chatting it up and taking their sweet time. When one finally came, he did not want to be there. Our brunch package came with mimosas. He pointed to all the adults asking if we wanted the drink...he even asked my 17 year old daughter!! Then walked away, not even asking any of the kids if they wanted anything. We kept having to flag down our server for drinks, plates, etc. Once we finally got our plates to get the food from the buffet, the food was breakfast my kids could have made at home... basic pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. It even included stuff like pasta and chicken strips which is a weird addition for brunch. The options were mediocre and nothing to rave about. For a special brunch, I would expect at least some specialty options to make the location stand out. I definitely wouldn't choose this spot to eat at in the future. I loved my company and thankful for the special day my husband put together for us mom's but the location didn't put much effort in such a special day.
