We met some friends on a Saturday. We ordered appetizers - m&c crisp, deep fried pickles, hush puppies, German pretzel, spicy jalapeño tots and an order of biscuits and gravy, and various beers. The place was packed, which is good! However, all the food with the exception of the biscuits and gravy were over cooked (or burnt, depending on how you look at it). The biscuits and gravy were spot on. I don't drink, but my friends all liked the various brews. I'd have to go back. I want to try the burgers. I'm not going to write them off yet because it all appears to be house made and I really appreciate that. read more

So so so so good! I had a burger and it was delicious! Drinks were good too. Cant wait for covid to be over because I'm sure the experience is even better when it's a full house. Employees were nice and friendly. Welcomed us the moment we walked in read more

Great food and great beer! We stopped in because of the dog friendly patio. I love the sour beer selection.

Great variety of food and drinks. Wonderful customer service, always clean, and welcoming.

Usually when I see so many solid 5 star reviews, I have to wonder if it really is all that its cracked up to be. After having visited I must say I am VERY impressed with this brewery. On the outside it doesn't really look like much but what it lacks in space, it more than makes up for in personality and atmosphere. And did I mention they have really great beer? The selection is unique, which is needed as more breweries pop up in Riverside and surrounding areas. Brian and his wife were very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. My friends, who are not avid beer drinkers, could not stop talking about what a great time they had while they were here. That's enough for me to warrant a 5 star review for this brewery. We can't wait to return there in a week or two for more beer and more fun. Keep up the great beers releases. Cheers! read more

Do you love great craft brews? Do you love meeting friendly new people? Do you have kids and sometimes feel bad dragging them to a place that doest serve anything but booze? =-) If you said yes to these questions (or at least two of them) this is THE place to go. We walked over to Thompson's one Saturday evening and came back 3 times within the next week (4 if you count the Tuesday we tried to stop by but they were closed). They make some of the best beer my husband and I have had. This is saying a lot when you hear that every city we travel to we try to find all the local breweries and wineries. We also dabble in brewing ourselves. All the beers are good... I can honestly say that out of the 5-8 they have had on tap at a time there may be one I just don't care for. but that one is of course my husband's favorite! Another huge plus is Martha and Brian are great people. Their kids can often be seen running around the joint or reading Harry Potter in the corner. (don't bother her, she's reading!) This is great for a parent who sometimes drags her 5 year old to other breweries to her dismay. When we take her here she can play their table games and ping pong, she can eat their pretzels, or she can down their home made (by their kids) root beer!! The bottom line... no matter your taste in beer you will find one (likely more) that you like and if not you may make a new friend (surely more) by just hanging out with the local patrons and the owners. read more

Great food , really fun place . First time there , wish I knew I could run a tab . Maybe have the staff ask , " is this your first visit " and explain the particulars of the place . Will definitely be back, everyone was very nice and the place is really cool. See you soon ! read more

My husband is an avid craft beer fan, and was lucky enough to stumble onto Thompson Brewing Co. several months ago (prior to their remodel) We learned the story of how Brian and Martha got started in the business, and quickly became friends as well as customers. Their brews are stellar, and there is definitely something for everyone's taste. I'm not much of a beer fan, but tried the Amber this weekend and loved it! The atmosphere is what brings me back. It's truly a family owned business, and their children are on site, always eager to entertain our grandson when we visit. There is always some interesting choice of music in the background, along with ping pong tables for kids (and adults), card games etc. A nice selection of organic snacks is kept on hand as well. They also make their own Root Beer which is excellent. I can't wait to try it in a Root Beer Float. Overall a great experience in a small industrial park in Riverside. It's a hidden gem! read more

Tried this place on a whim, the beer was good, the food was phenomenal and there are multiple options for seating. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were surprised with the tasting samples, with it being our first time there we didn't know which beer to try so they allowed us to taste it before we bought it. That is such a great thing to offer, I hate buying a full beer just to find out I don't like it. So kudos for that!! And just because I didn't spend enough time on the food, I'll go back to it. It was delicious, really good, a lot of breweries have food just to have it but the food here has so much flavor, good bbq flavors and good portions. I will definitely be going back, there is a lot more food that I want to try!! read more

This place does not disappoint. The American fries are addicting, all the food is great. By far the best seltzer I have ever had. Super friendly staff and fun place to hang out. You won't regret trying this establishment. read more

We stopped here on a road trip. The beer was good but the food was ok. Really it was the buns that got soggy so fast on the burger and brisket sandwich. Other than that the meat was great but the soggy buns ruined the rest. The beans were delicious though! read more

At a Glance: Drink: 4-5 Service: 5 Convenience: 3 Value: 4 Bottom Line: I generally don't give 5 stars so dont be mislead by the 4 stars. I heartily recommend stopping in and giving them a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed and you may have a new hangout in Thompson's. I'm not a beer drinker anymore but I occasionally like to sample what's out there if given the chance. I would say Thompson's is a top choice in a brewery. . . The Boring Details Dwinks: I had two samples. A Nut Brown & a Stout - I was a little more fond of the Nut Brown because it was a little more suited for my palette. I haven't drank a beer in years. But when I did I mainly drank lighter beers. The Stout, though not something I would drink regularly, was something that I could tell many people enjoyed. I saw from their website the names of the different brews probably reflected another interest in the owners life. If that's true then I would highly encourage freedom lovers and red-blooded Americans to stop in for some local drinkage. I gladly patronize businesses that share the love of our God-given rights. Service: The owners, Brian & Martha ( i believe) were so warm and inviting. So I felt like I was hanging out with friends and they just happen to own a brewery. They were very welcoming and given they probably have told their "story" a million times they took the time to share it with us newcomers. They also seem genuinely interested in your opinion. I think the same way, I would rather have someone give me the honest truth than try and not hurt my feelings. Convenience: Unfortunately it's not near me. But it is sort of close to all the main shopping areas in Riverside. Kind of in a unique place where you wouldn't expect to find a brewery. But I think that's what also makes it special. It's in an industrial park so parking is shared with other businesses but since I believe it is only open evenings and weekends parking should be plentiful. It's a single "office space" with a few tables and chairs Value: For the quality alone its a great value. But couple that with the atmosphere and the owners hospitality makes this an excellent place to spend your hard earned $ on locally crafted beer. read more

Really great food for a spot that specializes in beer! Had brunch here and would 100% recommend, especially any of there brisket dishes. Would love to come again for a night out. read more

Brought my wife and baby to this wonderful brewery this evening. We were greeted warmly by the staff and asked if we had any questions about the beers. We ended up getting the flight of dark beers. They were great! I enjoy my craft brews, and these did not disappoint. My wife loved them as well, and she is definitely not a beer drinker. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the Riverside area, stop in here, grab a beer, play some epic board games and enjoy the very warm, friendly atmosphere. Ps, real talk, the folks that own the place and their kids are so ridiculously friendly that I will most definitely be coming back in the near future... Also, they fill other breweries growlers!!! read more

I'm a little behind on my reviews of the Inland Empire breweries I've visited but I definitely wanted to give a shout out to Thompson Brewing Company. Martha was behind the bar and she was super friendly and knew everything about their beer. I got a 12 taster set and was not disappointed. There is something here for just about everyone's taste. Lagers, ales, IPA, stouts, reds you name it they have it. I didn't even get to sample everything there (that's for another day) but was happy with everything I tried. The tasting room itself is very large with plenty of seating. They do have glassware now and they DO fill other breweries growlers. With friendly staff and great beer, I'll definitely be coming back to TBC, especially when they open their new location in the coming months. read more

Tonight I had the cranberry triple, the classic burger w fries and played battleship with my husband. Also got a growler to go. I am so happy that there is a place like this in riverside to hang out. It's family owned. The service is super because you see how happy they are to be doing what they love. I hope everyone tries and loves this place. All around good beer, food be experience. read more

Thompson Brewing - American Near Me - Riverside, California

Cool little brewery. I drive out here from time to time for some interesting beers. I like how creative they are. The corn lager for instance - fermented with the sugar from corn for the yeast instead of normal sugar. I think maybe it keeps more sugar in the fermenting longer OR the yeast likes it more.. but either way, it produces a really smooth 11% lager. The folks in here that own the brewery are always friendly and go out of their way to ensure every visitor is comfortable. Like the pretzels and stuff. Great touch. read more

Everything was great the burger was great the tots were great the house made root beer soda was great! Great atmosphere and tons of games!

Our family had a craving for some BBQ tonight and wanted to try something new. Saw this place had many great reviews, and came in to place a carry out order. I really wanted this place to be great, but the food was just OK. The brisket sandwich was dry, coleslaw dressing was bland and watery, mac and cheese didn't taste that cheesy. My wife's brisket nachos were delicious. The staff working the register was very nice and helpful. They took the time to explain and help me pick out some beers to bring home. Had the coffee creme while I was there, and it was really good. The IPAs I've tried at home have just been OK, but looking forward to try the others. The atmosphere is welcoming and family friendly, and thinking about bringing them to eat in. I am looking forward to giving this place another shot. Love the whole beer and BBQ concept, and all the other reviews seem to be great...maybe just an off night in the kitchen tonight. read more

Thompson's is one of the best breweries around Riverside hands down. First time i stopped in here i was greeted with a warm and kind welcome, Martha let us sample some of the beers we thought we'd like before making a selection for a pint. We talked with her and her family and had a great time from beginning to end. Since that first time i try to make it back at least once a week for their beers, which are very delicious. My girlfriend enjoys the Cranberry Triple Belgium the most and has been waiting for Brian to brew up some more (: Like others have stated before, there is plenty to do in here from board games, ping-pong and darts, you can even watch Brian brew some beer through the glass doors if he is doing it. Don't be afraid to stop in and give this brewery a try and stay for awhile, they even have a frequent buyer card so after 10 pints your next beer is free as well as a referral board for people that you refer to them. read more

Family owned and run. Literally. Brian, brew master, is serving up beer. His daughter, Bella is cooking, and if you can make it when she does her deserts I haven't had anything I didn't love. His son is ringing up people (and is also the soda creator). Last, but definitely not least, mom and wife Martha is a jack of all trades there, cooking, serving beer, talking with patrons and generally being awesomr. The food is SO amazing. The beers are delicious (AND I CANT WAIT FOR SOURS!) Every interaction is friendly, and it just makes me want to come back as often as possible. read more

This place is average at best. The lightening is to bright and does not feel lIke a brewery/bar. They have kids there playing games. Music was okay too, playing outdated slow jams. IMO go to a different brewery if you are trying to get a bar feel and looking for a good time. More of a eatery the a brewery. read more

Thompson Brewing - Thanks for a nice brunch. - American Near Me - Riverside, California

Amazing food , home cooked to perfection! Hard working friendly staff! And beers are bomb

Good little spot to stop and have a quality beer. When you walk in its like walking into a friend's house that invited you over to try his new beer, but this is so much better. So many amazing beers, you will want to try them all. I like the fact that it's a small place that hasn't been to comercianalized yet. Still just the small family owned place that you can sit around and play board games at. Now, just know that they will be closed for the next few weeks for a remodel and expantion. Excited to see what comes of it. read more

Phenomenal staff. Friendly, knowledgable and eager to teach patrons the ropes. Beers were equally awesome. I had the JUICY IPA...the DIPA and finished with the Belgian Quad. All top notch. always a pleasant experience! will gladly keep coming back ! , service is always up to par and owners are always so welcoming

Food and beers always absolutely amazing. They are definitely one of my top brewery choices. The service and atmosphere can't be matched

Well, like other reviewers who were waiting so long to open....Now my eyes are wide open. First off, when walking in and asking for a Red Ale and they don't have any. Disappointing. All beers that are presented on display and on the menus should be in order and ready to serve. (1 point) Menus in a terrible high school folder were very weak and un-professional. (1 point) Limited food selection. Either the cooks are amateurs or they can't afford a real chef. 28 items? One Hamburger and a estimated cup of tater tots, $11.00 ???? Come on, I can get the same burger and a coke at Costco for under $5.00. A bag of 28 ounces of Tater Tots is $2.99. Thats more than a cup. Please don't rip off your customers. (1 point) 2 (two) 11 oz. wine glasses of wheat ale beer $14.00. Wow talk about ripping you off. Beer should always be served in chilled 16 oz. beer glasses. Bring down your beer prices to about $4.00 so you can be competative and have more clientele. (1 point). When using your credit card to check out, DO NOT have a "Mandatory Tip" pop up and not showing you what you purchased on the screen when checking out. This is very megalomaniacal and makes me want to never come back. (1 point) Brewery hours: Open 6 hours a day for 3 days, then open for 10 hours on saturday? Does this make up for the high prices so vacation time is more important than the business? (1 point) And lastly, child labor. I'm not down with childeren working and being exposed to adult language and behavior when drinking. These kids will learn from customers and get the bad ideas. Just my opinion. (1 point) Now lets tally the prices, points and overall score. 1 (one) Hamburger 1 (one) cup of Tater Tots $11.00. 1 (one) Wine Glass of Wheat Ale 11 oz. $ 7.00. 1 (one) Wine Glass of Wheat Ale 11 oz. $ 7.00. 1 (one) Mandatory Tip $ 6.00. Total $31.00. 7 points out of 10. Would this make you want to come back? read more

Tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago. Off the street it is pretty unassuming. Super cute walking in with a cool casual style plenty of seating and games!!!. They have a great selection of great beers. Their food is also off the hook amazing! The owners are super fun and friendly. We felt immediately welcome there.
