First time at The 79 Pub/This Guy's Pizza. I came because I had the Lord of the Wings passes for the month of January. Really impressed by the menu a lot of types of pizza, a lot of really unique options. They have two beers that are specifically brewed for the restaurant one from the Dublin Brothers and the other from goose Island in Chicago. I tried both and it really enjoyed each beer, they were everything in IPA and a pills that should be. I didn't have the pizza, which I know is crazy, but I ordered the creamy pasta wings in the spinach pie tacos because that sounds absolutely unhinged and it sure was in the best way. The wings were really good. And I am really picky on wings. They were hot, crispy, and super flavorful. I will definitely be back for the chicken wings specifically. My other favorite thing besides the wings was the off the menu PB&J margarita. The service was also excellent. Super attentive waitress and friendly bartender. The establishment is fairly large with a big bar. There are arcade games in the back. Everything was clean and they have a parking lot. I really enjoyed my visit to the 78 Pub/This Guy's Pizza and I'm excited to come back to try more menu items.

Walked up to the large pub space and was immediately struck by how loud it was. Like you could her the music outside loud. It turned out to be Karaoke night and the volume of the music went down when people were singing. Service was friendly and our drink orders were filled quickly. We both ordered chicken sandwiches, and they were good, but nothing to make a special trip for. The pizza menu is very extendive with lots of topping choices so I'd like to go back to try it.

Was dying for a quick eggplant sandwich so we decided to try somewhere new to us at least! Well the eggplant was simple like I asked with light sauce, but my husband got a real treat! Chicken parm mouthful is what he ordered and it's chicken parm wrapped in mozzarella sticks with cheese then wrapped in a tortilla perfectly grilled with big side of fries and their great red dipping sauce :) ahhhmmmazing is an understatement he said . Great owner ~ bartender and waitresses are all so welcoming to everyone. We always sit at the bar. It also has a fun big room with picnic family style tables surrounded with arcade tables so bring the kids too! Great neighborhood Bar grill & arcade! Will definetly be going back soon . Fast friendly service too & good prices.

Steak sandwich with mushrooms & onions

Return visit to This Guy's Pizza & it did not disappoint! We ordered an extra-large half & half pizza - The Rayven on one side (minus the drizzle) & Meat Loaded on the other. Both were delicious! Perfectly cooked crust, generous toppings & great flavor across the board. Every slice was hot & fresh - exactly what you want from a great neighborhood pizza spot! We also ordered the steak sandwich with mushrooms & onions. The steak was tender, the mushrooms & onions were cooked just right, melty cheese held everything together. The atmosphere really added to the experience. There was a soccer game on the TVs, with a fun, energetic group of fans on the other side of the restaurant that made it feel lively & welcoming without being overwhelming. There is also a game room in the back, which is a great touch & makes this place feel like more than just a quick pizza stop. It is somewhere you can hang out & enjoy yourself! Great food, good value & a place we will continue to support!

The big easy chicken sandwich from the passports

It was very quiet in here today, but the server, the waitress parked in their hostess combination. She was very friendly, kind, explained all the specials, etc. showed us, especially when they had just for the sandwich. Passport was able to order a sandwich separately so that we could share it and also gave us extra plates, etc. the food was really good. The chicken was juicy, but it wasn't hot and I like the crunchiness of it and the light battle was like a temp force was a very lightweight batter, which was good. I hate thick batters. other than that, things were wonderful. The rest was very clean organized put together very busy with takeout orders and I think catering. We will come back at another time. The server just came back we had thought french fries came with the sandwich, but on the passport it does not. It's a little bit extra. We didn't count for that today however she's come back. She's surprising us with their own homemade french fries they made in an air fryer. We're gonna have some and then we'll take the rest to go. This has been a fun day and experience with my friend so we will be leaving in just a minute and heading back home.

We enjoyed our visit with kids. The small, separate game room was a nice space for them to escape to and an added element for our time out. There was a good variety of options for food, including many kids meals that were priced great. We tried the Level Up and PB&J Burgers, the tacos and a few kids burgers & kids pizzas. We can't wait to try the pizza!

The wings were flavorful. The service was accurate however delivery took a long time. It's a family friendly restaurant. Lots of seating and parking.

29 Jan 2025 update It's truly a gem for eating in. What a great menu with a wide range of selection for lunch, including their great pizza options. The service is so personable and friendly. Strongly suggested for the freshest food and service. Even live music on Fridays and Saturday nights!

True Score: 3.5 Stars A pizzeria with a bar and several TV's to watch a game. Weirdly it closes pretty early, so we would never choose this spot if there was a night game and we wanted to hang out later than 9pm. Decent menu with a decent selection besides pizza. We had wings, not bad, could have been cooked more. We got a pizza, it was cooked well done as we asked. It is Greek style pizza, not Italian. We did not have a sandwich but other patrons did, they looked good. The draft beer is cold and prices are affordable. The guys working here are very polite and the establishment is very clean. Not bad besides the early close times. Thanks

Medium pepperoni pizza for $14. 2 slices missing.

Just okay pizza. It's a little on the greasy side and a bit doughy. I got a medium pepperoni pizza for $14 which is a very good price. The sauce lacked flavor but the pepperoni made up. Very reasonable prices for the pizza and other menu items. Might be the cheapest pizza in the state that isn't total crap.

Keith P.

Great food! What a bang wings and wake up call pizza are epic! Family vibe with fun events and an amazing experience Sunday nights!

X-Large cheese pizza
Kelly F.

Decent square pizza. I got an X-Large cheese. Sauce and cheese ratio was good. Edges a little carmelized. Probably better is you dine in. By the time we got home the cheese had hardened a little. We also got chicken tenders. I asked that they make them buffalo style and toss with mild sauce but they didn't. I didn't realize until I got home but it was fine. They were good anyway and they did include buffalo sauce and blue cheese on side. The dough boy crisps were decent but I asked for cinnamon and powdered sugar and just got cinnamon sugar. Overall order wasn't exactly right but food was good and staff very nice.

Tried it for the first time and ordered the "High Steaks." The pizza dough was tasteless and flat similar to frozen pizza dough. Ugh!

The bar area is large with lots of seating both at the bar top and many high top tables nearby. Booth seating is also available in the bar area with tables in a dining room on the opposite side of the restaurant for families. The menu is large and offers apps, pizzas, sandwiches, pastas, entrees and dessert. Full bar with beer on tap. Our waiter was very friendly and capable. Everything was very clean. For ambiance, this place has it going on. A basket of focaccia, olives and oil were brought to the table. The bread was very soft and the oil has a nice body. We ordered a 'suppli' appetizer. Suppli is a Roman 'street food': a hand help item, small enough to get two or three as a snack. These suppli are quite large. It's an interesting take on the original and definitely a 'knife and fork' appetizer. Wouldn't repeat order this myself. My dining companion ordered the Carbonara. They bring it to the table with a raw egg on top of the dish which makes a nice 'photo op', but isn't really how the dish would be prepared by Nonna. The guanciale was not cooked 'crisp' and the pasta was cooked soft vs. 'al dente'. The carbonara sauce was tasty. The pizza Margarita was a nice presentation. The sauce is not made with San Marzano tomato so the flavor is not there. The Caesar salad lettuce and dressing were fine. They offer it with a piece of anchovy on top if you like to eat those. It's your choice. The shaved cheese on top did not taste very good at all. I thought it might be my taste buds so I offered a piece to my companion and they confirmed it was 'not good'. They have the ambiance down 100% and the service was very good. Presentation of the food seems to be more important than creating authentic Italian cuisine. It's clearly loved by the locals and I'm sure they won't mind my not returning. Just wanted to let you know; don't expect the 'real deal' from the food. It's American-Italian cuisine so if that is what you are looking for, you will most likely very much enjoy this spot. Bathrooms are gender neutral. Parking is shared with other businesses in the strip mall. Wait to be seated by the hostess.

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the counter, then the oven behind a wall of pizza boxes stacked high and ready for service. In front of that wall stood a smiling face. She warmly greeted us and let us know to seat ourselves in the dining room. The bartender was also the dining room server and came over to take care of us. She was a treasure. Every time she came over she brought with her a smile, an anecdote and loads of charm. We ordered a meatball each, then a medium pizza with pepperoni, half olive. While we waited, I checked out the space. At first the place seems small, but it has high ceilings and bright lights that show how much space is actually inside. Beautiful bar, tables of different seating sizes and some cozy booths tucked into the corner shaped perfectly for close conversation. The meatball took no time to arrive, served with a garlic breadstick made from Buono's bread, a local bakery favorite if you did not already know. The meatball was tender, it reminded me of the meatballs my grandfather used to make growing up, and that's when I knew I was in the right place. The sauce was chunky, thick enough to scoop onto the bread. I cleaned my plate, my mother would be proud. Then the moment I had been waiting for: the pizza. It arrived scalding hot and smelling like heaven. I could see the crispy cheese on the edges of the crust and the generosity of the toppings. I am not a patient woman when it comes to pizza so I braved the lava like sauce and took a bite. And understood why so many love Catanzaro's. The thick crust and tangy-sweet sauce combining with the cheese, pepperoni and olive created a moment of sensory excellence. It was a study in Sicilian done well and I can absolutely say the group choosing this spot for Best Sicilian in Rhode Island was well deserved. While we were eating, I noticed one of the owners, Anthony, by the bar. He made his way around to every table. Some people he knew, some he did not. But he spoke to everyone with the same good-natured, welcoming approach. The reputation of Italian hospitality is well known, and Anthony is a terrific continuation of that. When he got to our table, I had the chance to introduce myself to him and explain further what we're trying to do here with our pizza community group. He was immediately excited about what we are trying to build. He and his wife Lauren - great name - love the community we are growing. Outside of the rainy weather, I couldn't have asked for a better beginning to this Best of RI trip based on our group votes. I was happy to connect with another iconic Rhode Island pizzamaker and experience his craft first hand.

The kitchen at Catanzaro's Pizza is open and you can see everything being made from your table. Three people, each one perfect at exactly what they were doing, moving together like a tight jazz trio, every action landing exactly where it needed to. Metronomic precision. And then our server arrived. After I finished my first Mountain Dew I told her to just bring me two more cans so I wouldn't have to bother her later for a third. She said she wanted to keep them cold for me and didn't mind coming back again as needed. Like Radar O'Reilly, she was there every time before I knew I needed her. She could not have been any more friendly, warm, or gracious. It was like eating at your best friend's house, the dinner her cool mom made, the one where you always hoped you'd get invited back. First, the meatballs. One meatball each, served in a pool of sauce it had been simmering in all day, dusted with grated cheese, a wedge of garlic bread there to catch what spills over. Big enough to be an appetizer by itself. And it was the most tender, delicious meatball I've eaten in recent memory. Moist all the way through. No dry pockets. No tough exterior where someone got impatient with the heat. This was a meatball that someone thought about. The sauce it was served in smelled almost impossibly good when it hit the table. And it tasted better than it smelled. It tasted like your grandmother made it. (Assuming she was Italian, knew what she was doing, and loved you enough to get it right.) Anthony, the owner, came over and talked with us for a while. Some owners do that as performance. Anthony does it because he actually wants to know if everything is right. There's a difference when you are passionate about serving your customers as well as you can every time, and you can feel it. Then. The pizza. Catanzaro's does Sicilian. Not the thick, doughy kind that puts you to sleep. This is its own creature, a rectangle with serious intentions, baked in a well-seasoned pan, with a crust that's golden and crisp and an interior that's chewy and pillowy and herbaceous in a way that makes you stop mid-bite and reconsider every other place you thought was in your top five before this. The sauce is tangy. Bright. Lightly sweet in the way a good tomato is sweet, not the way a corporate kitchen adds sugar to cover its sins. The cheese pulls. The pepperoni cups and chars at the edges, pooling in the middle, because the oven is hot. This is substantial pizza. Filling pizza. Fantastic pizza. I walked in a stranger on a busy Wednesday night in Cranston. I'm already planning when I'm coming back to see my new friends.
