    Mixed Greens Pizza

Go do yourself a favor and order the mixed greens pizza! I was skeptical at first getting a salad on my pizza, but it is so delicious! They use two salad dressings one on the crust and the other on the top. They are not shy with the toppings either this pizza is loaded!

Perhaps it was the pizza, but the pizza greasy/soggy. In all fairness, the XL is very big. Getting half pepperoni/ half cheese made it crazy greasy. It was also flat, which didn't help matters. The other pizza in my group was a little less greasy because it was loaded with veggies. The place is clean and decent. They gave me the remote when I asked for something less violet on the tv. If someone is dead set on going, I'll join them. I myself don't care to go again.

Pizza, subs, pasta, meat lovers, vegan-something, nothing, they've got a little bit of everything! The specialty pizzas are supreme! This location just opened in February so it's extremely clean, well staffed and has a nice modern touch. They cater as well for all your party needs! Pop in and grub out fam!

Finally got to check out their specialty pizzas. I was glad I was able to check them out 1 month old into their journey. Their decor is super cool with reclaimed (new) wood, porcelein wood tile floor. Someone came in and knew what they wanted in the design. The setup is you order at the register and take a seat - they bring the food out to you. We ordered their buffalo chicken pizza - spicy. I loved their crust - nice and thin with generous portions of chicken. We had a vegan who was a part of our table and he was happy - since they had a friendly section for vegans, vegetarians and pescatarians. They design some really cool specialty pizzas - pretty much with any topping and any meat. Since they are generous with their meat portions - you don't feel so carbed up. Good job piezonis

Thought I'd get a nice Turkey and Cheese sub. I asked for toasted bread, not realizing the bread they use is a bit hard. Too hard for a turkey sandwich, in my opinion. It's probably good as a side for soup, but not for a submarine. The sandwich tasted good, but the turkey and cheese slices were so thin, I could barely taste it. The sandwich was more like a vegetarian with turkey added. However, I will be sure to ask for extra turkey and cheese to beef it up a bit. Their tomatoes and veggies were perfect and the whole sub tasted great. I'll also order a different type of bread. They have the absolute best customer service, which is why I will return. I've saved half of the sub for my review. Again, very clean, neat and delicious. Just not the right bread for me, and not enough Turkey and Cheese. I'll be back.

Beautiful cheesy chicken, bacon ranch calzone.

This review is purely based upon their calzones. I have tried a few different ones and they are all stuffed and tasty. Our last trip there really influenced me to write a review. We lost power last week and our cars were blocked in on our dead-end so we walked up here and they were still open, working extremely hard, just a handful of employees Food was quick, tasty and even more impressive... pretty inexpensive. It's great to have a new place just right up the road.

The bottom crust burned hard while the top stayed pale and raw. Cheese pooled like weather patterns. Oil slicked everything. The pepperoni cups gave up on life halfway through cooking. I wrote what I saw. I posted it. I moved on. Then Jack's did something that matters more than producing a perfect pizza on the first try. They didn't get defensive. They didn't make excuses. They just invited me back to see what they're really about. "It was just a tough pie day," I told them. Because that's the truth. Every kitchen has them. Consistency is the hobgoblin of many restaurants, particularly the ones that are trying to get their footing set. Today we walked back in, genuinely hoping for a redemption story. Sometimes hope gets you disappointed. Sometimes it gets you vindicated. The pizza that arrived today looked nothing like last year's disaster. Thicker crust, doughy in that substantial way that makes for a chewy, satisfying experience. It had weight. Structure. The kind of foundation that holds up under scrutiny. The first bite told the whole story. Crunchy on the outside, chewy through the middle, with this unexpected toasted sesame oil flavor happening in the crust that sets it apart from every other bar pizza in Rhode Island. The sauce showed up this time, savory and well-balanced, working with high-quality cheese instead of drowning under it. This wasn't some fluke of good luck. This was a really competent pizza made by people who've figured out their recipe and their oven. The service matched the food. Friendly without being intrusive, attentive without hovering, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to stay for another beer. The room still has that Bryant Bulldog bar aesthetic working. Reclaimed wood, industrial lights, butcher block tables, sports stories on the walls. It knows what it is. A neighborhood spot where you watch the game, catch up with friends, and eat pizza that holds its own. If I lived nearby, I'd be here regularly. That's not something I say often after writing a critical first review. But Jack's earned it the hard way, by taking feedback seriously and proving they can deliver when it counts. Last year's pizza was a problem. This year's pizza is the solution. Sometimes the story worth telling isn't about perfection on the first attempt. It's about showing up better the second time.

It has almost a cult-like following after reading the reviews. In my experience, everything I have ordered was okay ... but nothing incredibly amazing vs. the price. I have not seen higher menu prices outside of Manhattan. Two sandwiches and one beer came to $78 after the tip. You read that correctly ... a burger with fries, a pulled pork sandwich with side salad and the cheapest draft beer on the menu ... $78!!! The wings/tenders were over $20 ... in fact, other than the side upgrades, nothing on the menu was under $20. If you are charging $25 for a 'diner burger' and fries, it better be an amazing burger. Mine was no better than Five Guys and less tasty than a Shake Shack. Given the prices, one wouldn't expect that you'd get potato chips with your burger. In order to get French fries ... it's a $5 upcharge. A side salad is $9. I don't mind paying more for quality ... and Blackie's quality is probably high as their meats, vegetables, potatoes, etc. all list the origin place. However high the quality is, for me anyways, the food doesn't seem much different taste-wise, than anywhere else that is much less expensive. Having said that, the portions are huge. The nachos look like they are meant for an entire table and everything is served on metal cafeteria-style trays. Good for them though because the place is huge and always packed. The crowd here is very typical 'Rhode Island'. Expect to see a lot of anchor tattoos, lifted Jeeps with no doors in the parking lot, young 20 - 40 year old crowd who probably played high school football or baseball back in the day and still enjoy telling stories about it. There are no shortage of cross-fitters here. There is a nice buzz of conversation and energy ... but this is not the place you want to go if you don't like crowds. Inside is weird. The walls are painted black and the chairs/tables look like something in a boutique hotel. It looks a little more like a corporate hotel lobby or wedding function hall vs. a restaurant ... especially given the typical crowd. This is not the sports bar it appears to be on the outside. Overall, my 3-stars may seem harsh. But that's an average score ... and honestly, my food has always been average. Maybe I need to try the pizza. If you have deep pockets and like huge portions, you probably won't be disappointed in this place. The service is great, although 2 people working a packed bar, you will wait a bit if you need anything. Also, I came to watch the big game and for some reason they hung pendant lights which dangle down from around the bar. While they make everyone look better, the TVs are blocked by the lights. Very odd.

Hell, even I want to take pictures of the place. The pizza shows promise at first glance. Those pepperoni cups curl up just right, crispy and inviting. But that's where the romance ends. The crust is just... there. The sauce might as well be a rumor. And the cheese? It does its job with all the enthusiasm of a Monday morning DMV worker. Look, it's not bad pizza. When you're hungry, it'll do the job. But it's the kind of slice that makes you understand why New Yorkers get so defensive about their pies. It's food designed by focus groups, served in a room that looks like it was decorated by an algorithm. The ice cream side of the operation might be their saving grace - those scoops look like they could offer some real comfort on a hot day. Maybe we'll give that a shot when summer rolls around. For now, it's exactly what it looks like: a perfectly fine, totally forgettable slice shop that's as middle-of-the-road as a highway divider. Think Papa Gino's on a "C+" day.

Giuseppe's Pizzeria and Bistro is upscale in the best way. Dark wood, brick floors, pendant lights over a small bar. The lights are dim but the room is inviting and intimate. When we arrived, it wasn't empty, wasn't slammed. Nothing felt rushed. Everything moved at the right pace, giving us time to talk, time to savor, time to just enjoy being there. Even after we paid, no one hurried us out. The room was filling up around us, but we never felt it. Fresh plates for every course. Water refilled when it emptied (not before we noticed, exactly when). Every time we said thank you, our server said "of course" like she truly meant it. The focaccia came out warm. Tear it open and you see irregular holes. That takes hours, not shortcuts. They bring whipped garlic butter because it spreads easier, but the bread's good enough alone. Four meatballs arrived, tender enough they fell apart as I tried to work them through the sauce. Took surgeon hands. Pool the red sauce on your plate or spoon some over the top of each bite. Without it, they're bland. With it, they're quite good. The pepperoni pizza came out right. Char on the crust, pepperoni curling into little grease cups, cheese stretching six inches on those first bites. The sauce is light. The crust ends taste a little like char and semolina. I'm a sauce guy. Always have been. This pizza wasn't what I look for, but the people around us all looked happy to be there and with their food. Giuseppe's making the pizza his customers want. Fruit crumble for dessert. Fresh blueberries and peaches, vanilla ice cream. I enjoyed the peach side more than the blueberries, which was unexpected. The peaches were a little less sweet. The blueberries? Really sweet. Fresh and enjoyable. Giuseppe's fills up for a reason. The service is the best I've experienced in months. People were taking their time, talking, enjoying everything that was in front of them. They seemed like they knew they were somewhere special. They got it right.

The hand feel, the specific chew, the way the crust gives under your fingers. I could identify it just by touch, blindfolded in a lineup of a hundred pies. It's wired into me from countless visits over the last 30+ years, born in the taste of being young and hungry and not overthinking anything about quality, just taste and filling you up. So when I tell you that Pizzeria Romana, located right by the Lincoln Mall, is just like Papa Gino's dressed up for the prom, understand that I mean it as the highest compliment. This was a new stop this year on the Lord of the Pies circuit. We walked in with zero expectations. The space is warm without trying too hard. Black and white checkered tablecloths. Italian countryside murals on the walls. The staff greets you like they're happy you showed up, which is rarer than it should be. The cheese pizza is where this place reveals itself. Same Papa Gino's geometry: thin, sturdy, dependable. But elevated with ingredients that actually taste fantastic. The cheese blend brings provolone into the conversation, adding sharp, tangy notes that cut through the richness. Everything works. The crust has that holds its crispness on top, great chew in the middle, and just enough cornmeal texture underneath to remind you this thing came from a real oven. The pepperoni, though. It overwhelms. Too much salt, too much grease, too much of everything. It doesn't play well with others. It storms onto the plate and dominates, drowning out all those subtle cheese notes that made the plain slice sing. Stick with the cheese. Let the fundamentals do their work. What Pizzeria Romana understands, what Papa Gino's always understood, ipizza doesn't need to reinvent itself to be good. It needs good ingredients, technique, and the restraint not to screw it up with unnecessary flourishes. This is a nice neighborhood spot where you can bring a date or grab a pie with friends without pretension. The best thing a pizza can do is remind you why you fell in love with it in the first place. Pizzeria Romana does exactly that. Just hold the pepperoni.
