A glass display case with a metal frame holds two large pizzas on separate shelves at The Pizza Nomad in Coventry, Rhode Island. The case is placed on a black counter, and the background includes various decorative items and a sign with the business name and contact information. The pizzas are visible through the glass, and the case appears to be used for showcasing food items to customers.

I've been to the other Nomad in West Warwick and this is just as good. They're both about the same distance from my house, but I'll probably go here more often as parking can get a little tight at the west warwick location when boomerangs is busy. Anyway, both are pretty consistent and are good. People have always been friendly too.

You don't just stumble into Pizza Nomad at the Center of New England. You're probably making a Walmart run, picking up mulch at Home Depot, or getting dragged into BJ's for a "quick" thing that turns into 84 dollars and a tray of muffins. But if you ever tried it, you might find yourself pulling in. Just for a slice. Inside, there's a couple of tables, steel chairs, gray walls, and a full suit of medieval armor in the corner. Because, of course there is. The decor feels a bit like it's still under construction and not quite ready for prime time. The place just feels comfortable though. It knows what it's doing, doesn't need to even tell you about it. No exposed brick, no fancy bulbs, no ironic signs. Just pizza. And...the chips. Oh man, the chips. The surprise of the chef just coming out from the back to set down a tray of fresh, still-glistening potato chips. Doesn't say a word. Doesn't have to. They're super hot, they're impossibly crisp, they're perfectly salted. Not a gimmick, not a side dish you ordered. Just a way to say you're appreciated. Then the pizza comes a few minutes later. It isn't Neapolitan floaty. It's not a bar pie. It's somewhere in the middle. The crust's got that perfect char and blister, crunches at the edge, and stands out straight. It's kind of a hybrid of a crackery bar pie and a New York style. On the thin end of medium thick. It's built for flavor, not engineering. The cheese is front and center, but it's not a sloppy mess. It's balanced. The sauce cuts through clean and bright. And the pepperoni? Those little curled cups, glistening, with just enough spice to remind you why it's a classic. Nothing's fighting for the spotlight. Everything's working together. You can taste the thought that went into it. You eat it slow, not because you're trying to be fancy, but because you just want it to last. One pie is enough for two hungry people, maybe three if you're being polite. And the staff? No scripts. No fake cheerleading. Just real people moving like they've been doing this for years, and concerned about getting it right. They aren't polished, they're just nice. Across the street, another pizza place stares over at Nomad. And honestly, with that knight standing there? It feels like a budding culinary Highlander situation. There can be only one, Nomad. And for now, Nomad's got the high ground. The food's good, the welcome's warm, and those things add up to something that you remember. Go for the pizza. Stay for the chips. Try it and let me know what you think.

Gluten free pizza - A pizza with a cheese base is topped with slices of pepperoni, black olives, crumbled sausage, and bacon bits. The pizza is in a cardboard box on a marble countertop, showing a variety of toppings evenly distributed across the surface.

I've tried pizza from this place three times in the time it's been open. I understand they have only just opened in the past month which is why I held off on leaving a review after my first few experiences have been negative. We had high expectations for this trendy pizza place offering an assortment of unique pizzas. My husband and I ordered pizza for a game night on the first night they opened. He called two hours ahead of time, but still had to wait 45 minutes when he got there. My husband said it was busy and chaotic. After he picked up the pizza and brought it to our friend's house, we were horrified to find a sticker on the underside of one of the pizzas. Our friend had taken a bite, and immediately spit out bits of paper which turned out to be an adhesive label on the bottom of it. Not sure how that got on the bottom of the pizza. We didn't call to complain, because we knew that it was incredibly busy that night. The second time we ordered pizza was a couple weeks ago. I ordered a vegetable pizza with spinach and several other toppings on it. The pizza was overloaded with the toppings to the point where it felt like I was eating a plate full of vegetables with a side of bread. I couldn't taste the white sauce, and there wasn't a lot of cheese. My husband ordered a gluten-free pizza. Because there aren't many pizza places in the area who offer gluten-free pizzas, we tried them again. His pizza was pretty good. The last time we got pizza was a few days ago, and we ordered the fried pickles and the nachos as a side. On the positive side, the portions were huge. On the negative side, they were grossly overcooked. We ended up throwing them out. We've been to the West Warwick location and have had better luck there. I sure hope Coventry location improves. I don't like to leave negative reviews, especially for a business just starting out, but hopefully they learn from their mistakes. We probably won't order again from them for at least a year so they can iron out the details and become better established. At that time, I'd be happy to update my review.

It was very cramped. I sat in the inside chair, in order for me to get out, my husband had to get up and move his chair totally out and around the end of the table for me to get out. The table on the other side had the chairs right up against the chairs behind it. Whatever. We got settled and looked at the menu. First item on the app menu was a bread basket. 4 rolls of bread for $8. Most places just bring bread. Ok, we aren't getting bread. Ordered drinks. I got an apple cinnamon mule. It was very tasty, but 2 sips and the drink was gone. The cup was filled to the top with ice once the drink was gone. Ordered the sirloin sandwich. Server said it's her favorite thing on the menu. I ordered the horseradish on the side because too much is overwhelming. It came smothered in horseradish. The person who brought it food placed it and was gone, so I didn't have a chance to say anything. I managed to take the steak out and wipe off the horseradish... there was soooo much. I couldn't eat the bread. By the time the server came over to ask how everything was, the rest of my party was almost done eating. I mentioned that the horseradish was supposed to be on the side and she said "oh no! It's ok though right?" I said I guess it will have to be, as she can see most of my dinner was untouched and I was eating my wiped off steak with a knife and fork. She didn't say anything else and left. No manager came by. She never came back other than to drop the check. After we ate my husband told me his ahi tuna bowl had a ton of soy sauce in the bottom and the rice was swimming in it, so he didn't finish that. We won't be returning. I have written many yelp reviews and almost all our positive. If I don't like a restaurant, I usually just don't review it. But after reading other negative reviews for this restaurant, I figured I should warn people. Had I read the reviews first, I probably wouldn't have gone. Lesson learned.

With a friend's band on their entertainment schedule, I found the perfect opportunity to try it out. I was looking forward to both the music and the food and while the music was amazing, my overall experience didn't quite live up to expectations. Pro: - My friends and I were able to reserve a table ahead of time, which helped secure space to enjoy the show. We had an up close and personal view, and it definitely made for an immersive experience. Cons: - The space is way too small for live bands. The band was squeezed into a corner, and the closest table was practically on top of the lead singer. The small space in front of the band may have been meant for dancing, but it blocked the path to the bathrooms and food service. It felt cramped, loud, and uncomfortable. - The pub-height tables had tall chairs that were wobbly and unstable. I'm not a big person, but even I felt like I might tip over sitting there. Plus, the layout was so tight that we all had to get up every time someone wanted to wiggle their way to the bar or the bathroom. - Our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time, and service was painfully slow. We ended up having to go up to the bar for refills between courses because no one was around to help. - The food was disappointing. I ordered the house-made tavern chips (which look like potato chips on the website) but got plain tortilla chips instead. I also had two hot weiners, and while they had all the right toppings, the flavor was all wrong. The meat sauce tasted burnt, and they were completely overloaded with celery salt. It was honestly the worst I've ever had. Others at the table felt underwhelmed with their selections as well - the quesadilla was soggy and the appetizer sampler was just okay. - The bathroom locks were unreliable. The lock on the door failed halfway through my visit, and it took several attempts to get the button to work again, which made for a pretty awkward experience. Given this visit, I'm unlikely to return. If I do, it'd have to be for a great band, and I'll definitely eat somewhere else beforehand.

This two sided, laminated menu has a lot on offer. Pub fare like wings, burgers and sandwiches, plus entrées, salads and apps. Once we ordered we were given place mats and flatware. We both got sandwiches and side salads. The salads came out first with our dressings on the side. I chose their house dressing which seems to be a mix of dressing like thousand island and some others. It's mild and pleasant. The salad is fresh and for a side salad, a good size. Our meals came out shortly after we had finished our salads and wow, this is a lot of food. Both were very tasty with fresh bread, plenty of toppings and my burger was cooked as ordered. We ended up taking half of both home. The fries were very good. This spot was recommended to us by a waitress at another nearby restaurant. It's a nice, neighborhood restaurant and bar. Friendly staff. Solid food.
