Best Americana I have ever had! Even better than Peets Coffee way out West. So full-bodied and yet not bitter....really enjoyed the atmosphere (but no Wifi... :( ....). While I didn't have any food, it all looked amazing...the cheese sandwiches (Starbucks? NOT)....the service was friendly and generally awesome. This will be my go-to-place for coffee and quick lunch while I am staying in Boston. Best ever!!!!!!! read more

Great classic, European atmosphere. Wood everywhere, old newspapers as backgrounds for the tables. Lots of pastries, salads, sandwiches and coffee. They offer gluten free bread on their sandwiches. This place was awesome! The food was fresh and had good flavor, but the chicken in my panini-style sandwich was cold and the cheese mostly unmelted, even with the bread toasted. I just wanted a little more attention to detail there. read more

I can't think of a better coffee shop in Boston; I tried their other location near the Commons as well but the one from Hanover st. in the North End is amazing!! It's a very big cafe and it seems like people enjoy it very much. I have been in there twice already and it's always busy. It is also a bit pricey but the atmosphere, the tea and coffe selection make it up for the price. read more

Just moved to Boston and this is the first coffee shop that has really impressed. Great location in the heart of the North End, surprisingly spacious with an interesting industrial decor - definitely a place you could study if need be, although there is no Wi-Fi. I ordered a plain drip coffee as a litmus test and was not disappointed. They offer Stumptown coffee, and though I don't often drink espresso I'm tempted to try it out here just to see how it stacks up. Beyond caffeine-bombs they have a solid looking sandwich menu and bakery, and apparently everything in the place is made in-house. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the North End. read more

After a visit to Mike's Pastry up the street, we needed some coffee or chai to balance out the cannolis. I had a chai and my husband opted for a cappuccino. While we waited for our drinks, I noticed the two awards proudly displayed on the counter. The guy making our coffee (I'm assuming it was him!!) won national awards for best latte art. When we got the cappuccino we were highly impressed by the beauty of the latte art. Really cool!! We were there just around dinner time. So it was fairly empty. Then once 8:30 hit it started to get crowded. Great space to hang out to meet friends or just get some work done with your laptop. We definitely will visit again after getting our cannoli fix!! They also have macarons and other pastries in addition to sandwiches. read more

Nice little coffee shop to perch at in North End. Enjoyed a blueberry muffin (it was actually really good) and a cappuccino, which was more like a latte, despite asking for it dry.... but the espresso tasted good, and I like lattes - so hey, no harm, no foul. read more

Coffee is great but hot chocolate is way too awesome! Not a fan of their sandwiches and cakes though.

Very fresh ingredients. This place is reasonably priced and seemed like an upscale chain. The sandwich I ate was delicious.

5 stars for the interior and the atmosphere, 3 for food. It's very softly/dimly lit, has nice tables and upholstered seating, and had good music playing softly in the background. I ordered a regular café latte and a madeleine, then later a banh mi sandwich. The coffee and pastry were OK, not great. The sandwich was worse - plain dry chicken with some cucumbers, Sri racha, and over-chewy roll. The cashier seemed confused both times I ordered. read more

Finally a restaurant in the north end that isn't a tourist trap! Great coffee, fantastic pastries. Didn't try any of the other offerings but the breakfast menu and sandwiches looked great. I'll be back! read more

Thinking cup, oh how I love thee! Oh how I wish we had one in buffalo. The espresso is knock-you-off-your-butt strong. My wife got this cup of espresso and ice cream that was so smooth and delicious. They have a huge variety of baked good and breakfast options. Not to mention a board of grilled cheese options. The tables are really cool in that they have genuine old newspapers inside of them. The place is a little small, but not uncomfortably so and the severs there are very nice. read more

I was very excited when this opened in the north end. They did a great job of renovating space and there's plenty of seating. I've been here many times, I like their grilled cheese and some of the sandwiches. I love their lattes and their homemade syrups. My go to coffee shop in the north end. read more

Such a pleasant environment, and I loved the detail oriented decor. I had my first salted caramel macaroon here and it could not have been better. I savored every single bit of it! I would have them shipped all the way to MI if I could! I also had a grilled cheese sandwich, which left a little to be desired. It was very well done and I could taste burned bread in every bite :(. That was very disappointing. 4 stars for decor & macaroon, but didn't reach 5 due to sad grilled cheese. read more

Modern decoration with plenty of seats and restrooms! Everyone knows that it's impossible to find bathrooms in any of two well-known North End pastry shop competitors. Also, I don't need to make that ridiculously long tourist line to have quality cup of coffee with savory desserts. Yes, it's quite busy and loud, but always under control-staff members are always tidy cleaning up the empty tables and remove the trash area. We came here for coffee baked goods and sandwiches during our stay at the Marriott. It is in the North End a short walk from the hotel. I particularly love the roasted turkey sandwich which was just tasty to the last bite. My companions love their breakfast sandwiches and scones. The bang mi with chicken was not as good as the others. All in all this place gets a thumbs up from us. read more

This was a nice breakfast stop on our first morning in the city. I don't think we paid for the food though... We ordered OJ and were charged for a grapefruit juice. We ordered a fruit cup and were charged for a yogurt parfait. When we questioned the cashier I'm not sure she understood and told us the price is fine. I had oatmeal - hefty portion but very good. The juice was freshly squeezed and the fruit was very good. I was happy with this choice overall. read more

The Thinking Cup my seem out of place right in the middle of Hanover st . But once you step in it is a classy and sophisticated coffee shop that truly sets it self apart from the rest of the North End. Professional well trained baristas prepared artfully created lattes using Stumptown coffee. They are not cheap but they use the best ingredients possible and the shop is spotless. A latte and a cannoli at your favorite bakery while on a stroll in the North End is just a perfect afternoon. In my opinion! read more

I'm thrilled that there is a Thinking Cup in the North End. While the coffee at their Boston Common location is wonderful, it is just too busy to enjoy. The North End location never has a big crowd, and is a very pleasant place to bring a laptop and work. The cappuccinos are small (about six ounces) with intense and awesome flavor.
