    Hot Smoked Sandwich
    Rebecca C.

This was a great bagel sandwich and I thought it was reasonably priced considering how packed it was. I got the hot smoked salmon sandwich on an everything bagel. I also tried the coffee cake, which was decent but obviously the bagels are really where this place shines. I thought it was a nice touch they had oat milk available for free to add to your coffee by the water dispenser!

I'll be honest, I originally picked this place for its name. I was staying nearby, and it sounded like a good breakfast option. I didn't realize it was such a popular one! I stopped by on a Sunday morning, maybe 9am, and there was a ridiculously long line. But I had nothing better to do that early, so I stuck it out. Let me just say, that place is worth the wait. I had their Blt on a cheddar garlic bagel, and it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had. My only wish is that along with their shirts, they sold stickers. Great logo. Highly recommend this place. I may just need to make a special trip the next time I'm in Boston.

AMAZING bagels! The best in the Boston area. I've been here so many times and checked out other bagel spots, but always come back to bagelsaurus - it is simply hard to beat the quality bagels they serve! Bagels: highly recommend the cheddar garlic bagels (a special offered Friday-Sunday), honey rosemary cream cheese (good on any bagel but especially love it on pretzel or sea salt). Staff are super friendly! The owner is very kind. There is some seating inside the shop, but if you walk down the street, there are some parks and benches to sit at.

Bagelsaurus never disappoints. If you come on the weekend, be prepared to wait. The bagels are so good, the wait is totally worth it. I usually like to order for pickup, but sometimes it's not open for online orders. I walked in on a Friday morning and there was zero wait time to order and it only took about 10 mins for my food to be prepared. Today we got sammies for lunch. They were so good. I got a chicken salad on a garlic parm bagel and added cheddar. Check out my pic! You gotta check this place out. If you're lucky you'll get a parking out front and a seat inside!

Rated top bagels of Boston so we had to try! I didn't think much about the wait time but we arrived about 30min after opening and there was already a small line out the door. It didn't take too long to order but I can imagine the line gets very long by mid morning on the weekend. There were so many unique choices with some classics. We ordered a hot lox sandwich on a pretzel bagel and an everything bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese. The sandwich description intrigued us so we chose it over the cold version but after trying it, I think we'll get the cold one instead. The rosemary cream cheese leans sweet over savory but overall still tasty. The bagels, even the pretzel one, was slightly chewy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A little tough but not bad. There's only limited seating inside so I wouldn't count on sitting down to eat in here. Side note that they have really cute merch inside!

This place is awesome, and they recently expanded with more seating and options! I've been a handful of times and my bagel has been incredible every time. Fair prices, great portions, and good local coffee too.

    EGGSPAÑOLA | $9

This is by far, the best bagel shop i have ever been to!! I am STILL thinking about the bagel sandwich i had and even tried to recreate it at home. I ordered the EGGSPAÑOLA | $9 - organic over-medium jumbo egg, Maplebrook feta, pimenton aioli, parsley gremolata. It was worth every penny; my mouth was salivating from the first bite. I wish i could go back to MA, just for this sandwich. The female cashier that took my order was so sweet as well, this place really made an incredible first impression on me.

These bagels are DELICIOUS! It is so worth the wait. We came on a Saturday around 11am and waited about 15-20 min in line, and another 15 for the food. If you have extra time to spare, definitely just do it because the bagels are sooooo good. It's super cute inside and rather small so don't expect to be able to sit down. Also, their hats for sale are adorable and high quality!

    Cold Smoked Sandwich

Bagelsaurus is a quaint little shop near Porter Square that serves some delicious bagels. They sell out quickly, so go as early as you can. Also the shop gets cramped easily, so it's better to get things to-go. We tried their cold-smoked sandwich which was rather tasty. I think the dill cream cheese & smoked salmon filling was actually the star compared to the bagel itself. Those were very fresh and balanced. I think it would've tasted better if the bagel was warmed, because otherwise it was a rather standard everything bagel. Overall I still enjoyed everything though, would come back for sure.

    Honey Rosemary Cream Cheese

Pretty yummy bagel spot that's always busy! Tried the cheddar onion bagel which was good, and had the honey rosemary cream cheese with it (it had the consistency of butter which wasn't my favorite though). I'd come back to try the sandwiches since I've heard good things.

The line at Bagelsaurus is legendary and for good reason. Worth the wait!!! It looks intimidating when you first pull up (especially on a weekend morning), but it moves surprisingly fast. And once you take that first bite, you realize every minute in line was 100% worth it. I went with a sesame bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese, and it was perfection, the kind of breakfast sandwich that ruins all others for you. The bagel itself had that perfect balance: chewy inside, crisp golden, and just enough sesame for texture and flavor. Simple, but executed flawlessly. I also grabbed a cinnamon raisin bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese, and wow... that one completely blew me away. Literally crave that cream cheese everyday. The combo with the sweet bagel and herb/sweet cream cheese was unbelievable. Easily one of the best flavor pairings I've had in any café or bakery. The vibe adds to the whole experience, cozy neighborhood energy, granola, friendly staff, and the smell of fresh bagels in the air. It's tucked right in Cambridge, surrounded by little shops and tree-lined streets, making it the perfect morning stop before exploring or catching a flight. Pro tip: The line is part of the ritual. Grab a coffee, enjoy the local chatter, and let the anticipation build because when you finally sit down with that bagel, it's pure satisfaction.

Eggspanola Sandwich on black olive bagel (front)
    Jocelyn S.

The eggspañola is RICH. I got it on the black olive bagel. There was the surprising and super delicious taste of lemon rind in there somewhere, not sure if it was the bagel or eggspañola stuff. Anyway this was the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I'd describe it as an egg breakfast sandwich but elevated. The egg was a perfect runnyness for a breakfast sandwich. The feta was amazing and almost tasted like string cheese (which we love), and also almost tasted like there was feta AND mozz. The aioli added such a nice smoky spicy creaminess. There was so much going on in this sandwich and every bite was a little different which we LOVE. The bagel itself was extra gluten-y, almost the texture of sourdough, which we love! It gave the sandwich a lot of structure without being too tough. I'd love to try the rest of their menu and I'm especially curious about the hot smoked.

    Classic jumbo egg sandwich
    Abby L.

We must have hit a stroke of luck because we had no line! I had the classic jumbo egg sandwich and look at that yolk perfection with the tangy mustard! The bagel was soft on the inside with that slight chewy outside. I also had a bite of the honey rosemary cream cheese and that was outstanding.

Best bagels in Boston. The Bagels are so fluffy and soft, yet maintain a hard exterior shell which is what I look for in a bagel.

The plain bagel I got was dry, flat and bland, with a neutral, characterless texture that lacked much contrast between the crust and interior. Sure, the bagel was a big step up from a heated-up frozen supermarket bagel, and I'd have been OK with it if I got it in a random diner in the middle of nowhere. But it was two giant steps down from the bagels you get in any of the several acclaimed bagel places in the Boston area--two of the best of which happen to be within 10 blocks of this place. On the other hand, this place has tables, and the basement brick vibe, while not particularly pleasant, isn't oppressive. And to be fair, their business seems much more based on the modest selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches served on bagels rather than on the bagels themselves. The counter service was civil and efficient. So if you're not looking for great, or even very good, bagels, then this place isn't a bad option for lunch in Harvard Square. If you're in it for the bagel, though, keep walking--you don't have far to go.
