Bustling cafe and bakery. We came for brunch around 11 on a Sunday to find all the tables occupied and a line out the door. The line moves reasonably and there is quick turnover, so we were able to nab a table and get all our food within 10 minutes. First, we shared a pickle and egg filo pie. An interesting filling combo. I prefer the traditional combo of spinach and cheese. Second, I tried the chocolate chunk and halva cookie. This was my favorite item. It reminded me a lot of the tahini cookie at L'Appartement 4F. I haven't tried the cookies side by side, but I might dare to assert they might share a recipe. Might make this a mission for another time. Third, we shared the chicken Milanese sandwich. Fried chicken (which I believe to be a panko breading) with a heaping of cole slaw on a braided bun. I also had a bite of the chocolate banana loaf. Presentation of the pastries was all very nice. I heard so many great things about Thea that I thought I would stop by to pick up a few pastries to try. I originally came for the mango labneh maritozzi but by the time I stopped by at 10:30am on a weekday, they were long sold out. I settled for a Guava Ricotta Danish ($5), which was delightfully crispy and fluffy, albeit a little smaller than I expected. I really liked the Latin-inspired flavor pairing, with the Italian twist on the whipped ricotta filling. I admit, I am a huge sucker for pastries with unexpected flavors or multicultural twists, which I think Thea has done a great job on. I will definitely return a little earlier next time to try their maritozzi, though I hear their lunchtime sandwiches are also delicious. read more

Amazing!! I got the chicken milanese- probably the most satisfying sandwich I've ever had in my life! Tons of flavor, perfect texture, even held up well in the to-go box later! My girlfriend got the mango-lebna roll- outstanding. Perfect cookies as well (got one with halva, and then one with cherry? I wish I could remember more). Overall, a 10 of 10. Man oh MAN. The food and prices here...offensive (stale pastry, $$$$) but to add salt to my financial wounds, actually made me have food poisoning. The smoked chicken grain salad was still FROZEN in parts- the top layer was slightly room temperature but parts of the egg was frozen and there were still little shards of ice in the frozen salad portion. I was ill after eating some of it, despite stop eating after hitting the frozen part. Service was lackluster. One star for the cute interior, which they put more effort on than food safety. read more

I think Thea has been an excellent addition to the Fort Greene neighborhood. I'm talking amazing vibes to sit and hang with friends, beautiful interior, great coffee and of course a place to pick up some delicious pastries. My main complaint is that it can take awhile to get your order during busy times. There have been a few times where the cashier would either forget that I ordered a pastry and/or it takes a bit to get a sandwich. It comes out hot and toasty though so can't complain too much! For all my matcha girlies, would not recommend getting it here. You can tell by the color that you're not getting high quality matcha and frankly it tastes like it's burnt. read more

The BLT is very good and Thea uses the thickest slabs of bacon. And though it's $13, which isn't particular cheap for a BLT, it is super filling and you can tell all the ingredients are made with quality. The downside is that it's truly the messiest sandwich I've ever eaten in my life. There was sauce oozing out of the bread in every direction. I needed like 10 napkins and felt very gross eating it. If you don't mind a mess, then it's fine but it's definitely worth keeping in mind before ordering. read more

This place has a line out the door for a reason. Great coffee. Great pastries. Amazing staff! Very welcoming and open, especially for those in the queer community. Went back for breakfast and the food didn't disappoint. We split an egg salad with delicious caramelized onions (the tender and crispy varieties), as well as a latte (which was good though not memorable). Even at 8:30 on a Saturday morning, the place was packed. The flow isn't ideal, but the line moved quickly and we were able to score a table. read more

Came here around 9:30 am on a weekday morning and so glad I did. Most of the outdoor seating was available but quickly filled up soon after we arrived. The staff was so lovely and the coffee was great. We tried the tahini banana bread, the pear and almond danish, and the mango labne. Everything was so good, and the tahini banana bread was probably my favorite. I came back again later in the week on a Friday afternoon and ordered the sabich sandwich which was amazing. I can't wait to come back and try more of their sandwiches and savory offerings. Great place to come and work or grab coffee with a friend as long as you arrive early enough as the space is really beautiful. read more

The food is good. I've never had the bowls that are ready made and stored in the refrigerated section. But I've had a few of their sandwiches and they are all impressively big and well constructed. The fish and chips sandwich is pretty unique in the sense that not tooo many NY cafes offer something similar, and it can easily feed 2 very hungry people. The pastries are pretty fantastic for the most part. Was pleasantly surprised by the chili crisp chocolate babka which sounded gimmicky but had a depth to the flavor I didn't expect. The drinks are not great. Usually overly milky and diluted if it's a latte, and that goes for the matcha lattes too. The line's always insane, but it goes by fast. The sandwiches do take some time...particularly the fish and chips. read more

(But get there early) This croissant is perfectly browned and crispy with hundreds of thousands buttery light-as-air layers. Tender but with an incredibly rich flavor it is just as good as in Paris. Paired with perfectly brewed strong partners coffee, you can't go wrong. It's worth a trip to fort greene if you can get there early. They sell out fast! The staff are incredibly friendly and recommended the labneh and mango roll - absolutely incredible. The not too sweet mango compote is perfectly balanced by the thick tangy labneh, housed in a buttery and light brioche-esque roll. No notes. Very cozy with limited small round tables indoors, and a covered but still outside attachment on the front with larger wooden tables. There were a few people on laptops, but this isn't an ideal spot for sitting and working awhile. This place is meant for perching with your baked goods and coffee before heading out on the rest of your day. read more

They don't have any vegan baked goods and none of their prepared items are vegan (avocado toast and grain bowl both have eggs). It's a bummer- I was really excited to try some things. The coffee is really good, as is the service. The space is beautiful. read more

OMG! The bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was amazing paired with the cardamom latte. I was stuffed until dinner. The egg salad sandwich is, also, very yummy. Service was quick and efficient.
