    Artichoke & Goat Cheese Croquettes ( 5 )

Just need to update this review with some of my favorite new dishes I have tried here! I love love love the goat cheese croquettes and the cherry chipotle wings! Both are so unique and I would come here just for them! Their new kale chicken caesar wrap is also a fav of mine and upgrading to the parmesan truffle fries are so worth it! The service is always great here! Everyone is fun and friendly and attentive. Their trivia nights continue to be a favorite night out for me and my friends!

Stopped in for some drinks; as a great cocktail selection available. My friend had the Match Martini it was delightful. Espresso Martini was good as well

Lovely vegetarian friendly restaurant with multiple TVs at the bar. Came here on a Thursday afternoon, they weren't busy, service was great. Incredible happy hour that starts at 11:30am!! My friends and I split the Arancini and the Sticky Tofu. They were both incredible and the perfect appetizers for 3 people to split. The arancini was crispy and cheesy, the tofu was cooked to perfection and the sauce was absolutely divine. I also had the Kale Caesar Salad, the kale was tender and the salad came with a generous amount of light cheese. Wonderful portion size. Pricing here was very fair - 6 happy hour cocktails, 2 appetizers, and 3 entrees all came out to around $140 (pre-tip). Overall 10 out of 10 experience. Looking forward to coming back on a Monday to take advantage of the $18 martini + fries "happy meal" special!

Recently revisited this spot and tried new dishes. Sunday night was not crowded, but also not empty. Same cozy atmosphere. All the food was delicious as usual. Their devils eggs and tuna are must try! Very grateful that our server was so helpful and suggested some food options. Will be back again!

Came here for happy hour and a burger. The drinks which I got a margarita with tajin was good, the burger which I got medium rare was decent for a bar. Service, our waitress was attentive and checked on us a few times

    Aperol spritz - happy hour

First Impressions: came here for happy hour, it was pretty packed. All the booths were taken and only the round tables in the middle were available... which sucked because we were hungry and we were planning on ordering a lot of food. Luckily, after our first round of happy hour, drink drinks a bigger table (booth) opened up and we were able to move there... as you can see from the spread we ordered quite a bit. The Noms: the wings were very dry would not recommend. The Burrata and peach was delicious, I only wish that they gave us more of the bread to eat with the burrata. The artichoke and goat cheese croquettes were very good. We also ate some of the Burrata and peach with the croquettes since there wasn't enough bread slices to eat all of the burrata. I would probably order both the dishes again... the fries were light and crisp and the Parmesan and truffle topping wasn't too overwhelming, which can often be the case. One thing I didn't get a picture of is we did order a martini with a side of fries. (I think it's the Monday special called a Manhattan happy meal?) the fries that came with that martini was way too salty... whoever put the bay seasoning on those fries had a really really heavy hand. It was a pretty small portion and too late to return it... but I would not order that one again. In Conclusion: I would come back here for happy hour again... but I guess I would have to make a reservation to make sure that we have a booth so we can order more food. I saw some tables had a reservation sign on it.... So I guess you can do reservations for happy hour., which I would recommend doing.

Happy to see the old McAleer's space doing well. The Wolfe is a member of the Stout family. I like their properties! But Wolfe is like...fancier, I dunno. We spent nearly $100 for beers, sliders and truffle fries. Not saying it wasn't good: the food was great. I was thinking this place might have been more... maybe... sports bar-ish? Like the Stout or Feile? I desperately need one of those in the neighborhood (a step above blondies, the Jake's/Gin Mill crowd lol). But this was like three steps above those places. Not complaining, but I need a burger and wing place but like, older crowd that caters to gen X. But the staff was very friendly, they had the rangers game on. Seems to get regulars. I'd like to hit up the happy hour which lasts till 7pm (the places in this hood have like a happy minute that end way too early haha).

Solid eats and drinks here. Does get quite busy and quite loud, but overall was enjoyable. I would go back to try the dinner menu.

They are a great sports bar, its a more mature crowd - you dont get the rowdiness of a college bar. Tons of tvs and seating, can easily get a seat without reservations. They have a unique deal everyday of the week. Food is elevated bar food. Can't go wrong with any of their sandwiches. Their French Dip and Baby Sliders are my favorite. They have an extensive crafty cocktail menu with dessert cocktails to match. Perfect place to spend a football weekend. Highly recommend sitting at the bar.

Enjoyed the lunch special, though next to the lunch special, the child menu was pricey. I wish my kid ate either of the lunch specials cause that would have been a better deal Lunch special requires purchase of a drink, any drink. I do hate when places do that. We each got a beer but I would have rather just a pricier lunch. And waitress didn't offer my child a drink even though it comes with child meal and I had to ask for it

They have a really solid happy hour. Bottled beer is $5 and draft is $6. Their happy hour goes until 7 pm. My girlfriend and I went and we got the big bad Wolfe burger with truffle fries, their smash burger, and a beer each. The bill was about $53 before tip. I'd say it's pretty affordable and the food is good. The onion jam they put on the big bad Wolfe burger is so tasty.

Chic neighborhood spot! We walked in and immediately threatened to be regulars-- that's how tangible the ambiance was. Luckily we did not misplace our loyalty as our server Jake recommended the calamari (gluten free!!) and we inhaled it without pause. The guests beside us ordered the chicken wings which Jake also promised were a fan favorite and they were raving. The smash burger offered an undeniable out of this world experience, end quote. The wedge salad was a major slay as well with steak cooked so perfectly I gasped. We chit chatted with the owner prior to leaving and he explained the concept as refined casual fare with something for everyone -- we will be back. Also Lauren makes the BEST dirty martini I have maybe ever had. Live laugh love your way to this bar. They will also be hosting trivia on Wednesdays.

The people calling this place "amazing" are either Sopranos fans, personally connected to management, or grading on an unbelievably generous curve. I have absolutely nothing to gain from distorting my experience. And judging by reviews like Benny R's below, I'm clearly not the only one saying this: if you go to The Scarlet, expect to wait forever, get ignored, and leave frustrated. And the worst part? It's not even a one-off bad night. I've been to The Scarlet multiple times, and every single visit has been the exact same mess: one bartender trying to run the entire place alone while customers sit around waiting endlessly for service. Last night (May 20), there were around 20-25 people in the bar between the tables and bar seats, and a single bartender was expected to do everything: make drinks, take orders, deliver cocktails to tables, clear space at the bar, all of it. Unsurprisingly, service moved at a glacial pace. My date and I were seated when we arrived and after waiting 30 minutes without anyone coming over, I finally had to walk up to the bar and order my own drink. It was deeply uncomfortable and unprofessional. Management charging $25 per cocktail while refusing to properly staff the place is ridiculous. If you're going to price drinks like a luxury lounge, at least operate like one. MEMO TO MANAGEMENT - stop being cheap and hire another bartender. Your customers are paying enough to deserve basic service.

Paper plates, plastic cutlery and pita chips warmed and served in the bags they came in. 2. Service - non-existent. No staff members acknowledge your arrival. You either have to wave madly or go to the bar and ask for a drink. The staff is always closing early with the staff excuse that "we are not busy" yet guests are routinely turned away. The staff is not happy and begrudge being there. DO NOT believe in the hours posted on the website. There is a built-in clientele but the staff can't wait to close it down. I don't know what is wrong with management but they have lost the plot. 3. Ambience - The space could be so much better than it is. The lighting is okay but the seating in the bar area is not appropriate. The adjoining cafe has a better feeling. Ambience has a lot to do with making guests feel welcome - this staff doesn't understand the meaning of hospitality but they should not be blamed. It is clear they have no training and are not held to any standard. If you want to go to a great space, go to the Wallace Hotel around the corner (I am NOT affiliated with them... have just gone there many times). It is so sad to see a place with such potential be so poorly run, especially as they have such little competition. The Arthouse Bar has the potential to be THE leading cocktail/music/late-night bar on the Upper West Side.

The server appeared quickly, and she cheerfully took my order for a glass of Chablis (oops, sorry, no Chablis tonight) and Tuna Nori Tartare. The Italian wine -- my second choice -- was more than suitable. So far, a pleasant experience. The Nori arrived promptly, with four bite-size pieces beautifully presented on a small plate. I popped the first Nori into my mouth and ... OMG ... I'm hardly exaggerating when I say it's one of the worst things I've ever tasted! I hate to complain, and so I didn't. Instead, I wrapped the remaining pieces in a tissue and disposed of them in the restroom bin. I returned to my table and ordered the Truffle Potato Croquettes instead. Not amazing, but light years better than the tartare! At this point I nearly departed, but the jazz trio were setting up and I was interested in having a listen. I ordered a second glass of wine, the other Italian choice on the menu, which was quite lovely. The musicians launched into their first number at 7pm sharp and they were world class! Outstanding musicians. I mean, really outstanding! This more than made up for any culinary shortcomings earlier in the evening. The Food Experience: Truly Next Level The food here isn't just "bar snacks"--it's a full-on culinary experience. We tried several dishes and honestly, every single one was a hit: * Grandma's Sunday Sauce: This was the star of the show. It's pure comfort in a bowl and tastes like it's been simmering for days. * The Bacon: You can't go wrong here. It's perfectly prepared, smoky, and dangerously addictive. * The Burrata: So fresh and creamy--the perfect way to start the meal. * Crispy Shrimp: These had the perfect crunch and were packed with flavor. The Vibes & Service The host set the tone right away with a great welcome, and the service throughout the night was seamless. It's rare to find a spot that balances a sophisticated "speakeasy" atmosphere with such friendly, attentive staff. And of course, the music! It's honestly such a disappointment that I have to write this review. In August 2025 I came here to…read morewatch the the reunion for Love Island. It was amazing. The food was good and drinks were too. The space and workers were also very accommodating. Clean bathrooms and everything. My place of employment wanted to book somewhere to have our holiday gathering after work for December 2025. I visited U Bar in person in late October to inquire about such an event for approximately 70 people. The host informed me to get in touch with the owner due to such a large amount of people and just wanted to ensure that it could be accommodated as needed. I had no problem with that and she gave me the business card, I bought some grilled chicken pasta Alfredo and headed home. As soon as I got home I spoke to the owner Eddy both via text and call. We spoke about what accommodations I would need, he said no problem. I reiterated to him that it was something that would be very informal and he told me that since it was on Friday, he would honor the "college Friday" deal that they have for college students for myself and colleagues as well. As you can imagine I was all for it, he booked it for December 19th at 4pm. He told me that he could open earlier for us, but just for the downstairs section which was perfectly fine. No hassle. After the call, I got an automated text stating that my reservation for "15" people had been booked and confirmed. I called him back immediately and told him that the reservation was for 70 problem as discussed, not 15. He told me not to worry that it'll be fixed in the system eventually but that I didn't have to worry about the glitch. I said okay fine. Keep in mind, this was late October this all transpired. Fast forward to December 11th 2025, I got an automated text stating that my reservation had been updated to 70 people. Not sure why it took a month and a half to "update" the number of people but I didn't care as long as the agreement we had had been met the day of. Then the VERY NEXT DAY on 12/12, I got an automated text stating that my reservation for 12/19 had been canceled altogether. Feeling understandably confused and annoying, I called U Bar at least 6 times to speak to someone to clear up what the confusion about the reservation is because I'm only a week out from the date of the event at this point. NO ONE picked up the phone but they were definitely open at the time. Remembering that I had Eddy's number from speaking to him prior, I called him to no answer but then texted him to explain my grievance. He then proceeded to respond back and say that the restaurant, managers as well as HIMSELF had been calling me prior to because I had two reservations booked. Now, keep in mind, I didn't actually make the reservation on my end, HE, the OWNER, made the reservation based on our conversation. I explained how disappointed I was that the reservation would be cancelled without notice. He informed me that he would speak to the manager about the situation. He hasn't gotten back to me. I then spoke to my best friend who had the idea of calling the restaurant and sneaking a merged call where I could speak to them. He did in fact get in contact with someone at U Bar (I heard it myself) but then the line disconnected. He called back immediately and no one picked up. No one there ever called me about having two reservations. I tend not to even believe that I had two reservations because ... 1. I never booked any reservation there on MY end. 2. Why didn't I receive an automated message about the "other" reservation that was allegedly booked as I had gotten about the one for the event? 3. The owner alleged that I had a reservation booked for both 12/12 (the day my original reservation was cancelled) AND 12/19 the actual day of the event. But even if I did have two reservations, what difference would that make? Am I not allowed to reserve a spot on multiple days? What would one reservation have to do with the other? None of it makes any sense. They will never see a DIME from me and what's worse is that I was ACTUALLY looking forward to my colleagues and I really visiting this place and getting the same care that I initially felt back in August. Now, I pray for the day this place becomes a parking lot. Unbelievably unprofessional.
