I normally love this restaurant 100% however, last night My family and I of 3 went to eat there for dinner. To start the hostess referred to me as the "chick who made the reservation". We had a reservation at 8:15 and sat down at 9pm. We then had a person at our table who was served a poorly cooked meal that he mentioned to the waitress that they might want to just make the cook aware if he is serving the same meal to others that night. The waitress completely disregarded him because he had had 3 drinks. We then mentioned it the manager who was great however still condescending. Love this place but disappointed. read more

Came here twice. First time (3/5): for boyfriend bday dinner. The overall meal was okay. Wasn't too impressed with it. The portions were unsurprisingly small for it's hefty price. great ambiance and service was quick, but food was meh. Second time (5/5): brunch with friends. I was absolutely in love with their brunch! They have a small, but delicious brunch buffet consists of fruit, biscuits, pastries. basic brunch stuff. The brunch also comes with a brunch menu you can order from with unlimited mimosas all for $25? Absolutely loved it. Though the waitress was a little slow... the food def made up for it. It's hit or miss here!! On a good night it's absolutely amazing and on a so-so night it's well, so-so. The one thing that I will say is a constant at West Table is brunch and the service is THE BEST IN TOWN, which is why we come back. Great service! Great food! Great drinks! Started with the bone marrow which was amazing, I was offered to do a bone marrow luge which only enhanced the flavor of the drink. Beet salad was full of flavor. Tenderloin was cooked to perfection, and absolutely amazing! Only down fall was tiramisu lacked any coffee flavor at all. Other than that hands down amazing experience. Simply put, The West Table is the finest restaurant in Lubbock. My wife and I decided to try out the Sunday Chef's Dinner for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Everything about the restaurant oozes class. The dinner menu on Sunday is limited, but they have something for everyone. The shared appetizers were spring rolls and tacos and both were outstanding. The second course was a choice of soup or salad. I tried the watermelon gazpacho which was really fun and unique and my wife had the house salad which had raspberries and bleu cheese and she enjoyed it thorough. For the entree I opted for the BBQ pork chops with grits and my wife had the pan seared chicken with potato salad. She let me try her chicken and it was delicious as was the potato salad. The pork chops were amazing but the real revelation was the cheddar grits and collard greens. Each were the best that I've ever had. The cherry cobbler for dessert was very good, but I don't think anything could top the entree course. My wife also had a specialty cocktail which she really liked. According to our waiter, the Sunday Chef's dinner is a different menu every week and I posted a picture of our menu from that evening. At $25 a person, the portion sizes and quality are very good, especially considering how expensive The West Table can get every other day of the week. FYI, they do require a reservation. read more

This was my first visit to The West Table. I've heard great things and was happy and pleasantly surprised to see a restaurant like this in Lubbock, and I was encouraged by the work Cameron put in prior to coming home. The NOLA shrimp appetizer was delicious! My husband ordered the pork porterhouse. Unfortunately it was overcooked and drowned in the sauce. The tomato okra stew was wonderful, but the grits were over salted. My strip loin was perfectly cooked, but the accompanying sides were also over-seasoned. Our server was knowledgeable and provided excellent service. He also was right on with a pretty decent red wine. The blondie we had for desert was absolutely amazing- wow was it good!! This is my new favorite place to eat! Located in downtown Lubbock, this restaurant offers fine dining and great service. I was wowed from the appetizers (the crab hush puppies are a must-try), to entree, to dessert. The fillet and stacked enchilada are to die for. The filet melts in your mouth. The jumbo shrimp was equally amazing (seafood is flown in fresh). Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and offered great suggestions. Stopped in during a business trip in Lubbock with two colleagues. First time visit to The West Table. Two of us had the spare ribs and I had the fish (similar to swordfish, can't remember the name). Brunch here was indescribably good! Having said that, here are some memorable highlights -- the mimosas are fabulous and actually have some champagne in them (unlike some brunches that include mimosas in the price). Wonderful idea to have a mixture of buffet and off-the-menu selections. The fried chicken was some of the best we've ever had--crispy and melt in your mouth! So disappointed my $41 tenderloin came with French fries! I must have not read the menu correctly but if I knew fries were coming with my ridiculously expensive piece of meat then I would have substituted or ordered something else. I'm sorry but you don't charge Bobs steakhouse prices and serve me French fries. The tenderloin was good, not great. Five guys makes better fries, I didn't finish them. My girlfriend got the short rib with mashed potatoes and sprouts... they got that one right. Really good. Was super jealous I didn't have a plate of mash and sprouts. Should have done the same and saved myself $11 bucks and gotten another whiskey. The oysters were great, super fresh. The place is cool. Waiter was just ok, no introduction to the menu or explanation of anything. Also, he brought the check out with no book. I'm sorry but when I'm dropping over a hundred dollars then I get to decide if the person I'm with sees the tab or not. Suggestion: if the owner of the west table wants to do fine dining then do it all the way. Look up beef tenderloin in google images and find me a photo where French fries are paid with it. Great food. Fresh and delicious. Impeccable service and the restaurant itself has a great vibe. It's inside a boutique style hotel and its super cute. We arrived just as they were opening and the host was very friendly and sweet. Our server was very attentive and we all enjoyed our meals very much. My fiancé (ahh!!!) and I came here right after we got engaged to celebrate. We had an incredible time. The wait staff were all so kind and came over to congratulate us. They brought us glasses of champagne to celebrate with us and for us to enjoy with our dessert. It was a Sunday night so we did the preset 4 course meal for $25 a person and it was awesome. The food was so fresh and flavorful. They went above and beyond to make us feel so special and I'm so grateful to have that memory now, our first dinner together as an engaged couple!! This was one of the best eating experiences I have ever had. The atmosphere was like that of a bigger city. The service here leaves something to be desired. I showed up for my noon reservation and was casually ignored for fifteen minutes. It was lively for a lunch service but it wasn't so full that there was no time for the waiter to drop by. I had to talk to the hostess just to get a server to acknowledge our presence. We ordered when he finally showed up and half an hour later still didn't even have our drinks. It's almost as if our waiter was willfully ignoring us. The food was overall just okay. The building architecture and interior design is supposed to make you think you're someplace more hip than Lubbock, but the food quality doesn't match up. If the food is just average then I'm paying for the ambience, but service isn't even good. There's nothing going for this place except that it's in Lubbock and it doesn't really have any other competition. read more

Dined at The West Table last night and it was amazing! The atmosphere and ambiance felt like the dining experience in a much larger metropolitan area. Edit: Since writing the review below I've been back for lunch a couple of times and have found the food to be consistently very good to excellent and the service and attention to detail to be good to very good. On different trips I tried the quail and bone marrow appetizers, and both were outstanding. The chicken & dumplings was very flavorful, with neat little fried dumplings, and the swordfish entree was just the best swordfish I've ever had anywhere. And on both trips we received attentive, friendly, expert service. I think we just got unlucky with the service on our first trip. At this point I'm looking for reasons to return. For my money The West Table is the best fine dining in Lubbock. First, let me say I really want The West Table to succeed, and not just because Lubbock has a shortage of fine dining options. This restaurant could help revitalize our sad downtown area in an important way, too. That being said... The atmosphere at The West Table is comfortable, upscale and modern but not stuffy, and the food and drink is very good to excellent. The service and attention to detail is poor to fair. Upon being seated we placed a cocktail and appetizer order. The delicious goat cheese tart was delivered before my drink - their special Oak Leaf Sazerac, which I enjoyed immensely - finally came about 20 minutes after we sat down, but my wife's cocktail was delayed because the bar had run out of cranberry juice (at 7 on a Saturday?). Detail note: The water glasses come with plastic straws that seem cheap and out of place at an otherwise smart table setting. We placed our dinner order and before long we received our salads - one house and one caesar - accompanied by fresh baked bread with herbed butter. The salads were big and crisp, and I really enjoyed the flavor of my caesar dressing. The bread was good, but we found the butter a little salty. As we were enjoying our salads, our entrees came. This is a big no-no, and is really Service 101. A manager came by a few moments later and was appropriately horrified, and she eventually had our waiter offer us complimentary desserts, but the fact that it happened at all was pretty disappointing. Detail note: The four-top next to ours had vacated not long after we arrived, but it took the staff at least fifteen minutes to clear and reset it. The entrees themselves were very good. My wife said her beef short ribs entree was the best food she's had at any restaurant in Lubbock. My filet was flavorful and cooked properly - medium rare - but was a little dry for my taste (always a risk with a lean cut like a filet, I know). My garlic mashed potatoes were lumpy enough, creamy with a savory edge and my roasted asparagus was perfectly cooked, with a unique smoky flavor. We really enjoyed our desserts. My wife raved about her cheesecake covered in chocolate sauce with almonds, and my bread pudding, with its rich, creamy sauce, was so good I can't wait to have it again. And I'm sure I will before long. Dinner for two with drinks, appetizers, wine and dessert at The West Table could cost close to $200. For those prices, Lubbock diners will expect service to go with the ambience and food quality. Here's hoping they make some improvements and I can bump my rating after my next visit. read more
