Amazing Food, Incredible Drinks & Fantastic Service!…read more What an absolutely fabulous experience at Moonshine Grill in Austin! From the food to the drinks to the service, everything was fantastic! Jessica took great care of us and made our visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance was also really nice, with cute rocking chairs out front and lots of mirrors all over the walls. We had the grilled cheese sandwich with burnt ends, and WOW! The combination of the amazing onions and gooey, delicious cheese was out of this world! We also ordered the sweet potatoes, and I cannot say enough about how good they were! Perfectly sweet and absolutely delicious. Seriously, SO SO good! And the drinks? The lavender lemonade was AMAZING! Refreshing, delicious, and the perfect complement to an already fabulous meal! Between the incredible food, fantastic drinks, and Jessica's wonderful service, this place was a winner all around! If you're in Austin, Moonshine Grill is definitely worth a stop! We loved every bite and sip!

We somehow snagged nearby street parking and a table for two with no wait despite it being a busy Saturday evening after a UT football game. Make a reservation if you have a large party or are on a tighter schedule. It's a bit loud for those seated in the lobby/entrance area, but totes a vibe. For food, we ordered the blackened catfish, brisket burnt ends quesadillas, and harvest bowl to share. Everything was delicious and served quickly, even with the aforementioned dinner rush. 10/10 would order the same items again. I was so appreciative of the server splitting the entree over two plates without us asking. Did I mention the complimentary popcorn and cornbread? Twas a FEAST. I'm already thinking about the next time we're going back! If not for Moonshine, definitely for the speakeasy downstairs.

I absolutely love ordering the warrior drink here because that is exactly what I make for myself at home for my wellness shots. The restaurant itself is decorated so nice, it's picture perfect. I also really appreciate a restaurant committed to having options that are seed oil free, from local farms and also having options without refined sugar. Miranda was our server and she was so kind and attentive. She made sure we had a great experience and was a pleasure to talk to. To eat I ordered the classic breakfast and to drink I had the vanilla maca. I didn't love the vanilla maca, and I only blame myself for that. I have never had maca so I didn't know what to expect but the drink basically tasted like a chocolate protein shake. Which isn't bad but I wanted like more of a latte so that was on me. My meal however? Loved it. Everything was so flavorful and hit the spot exactly with what I wanted. I also really appreciate a salad with breakfast since this helps lower your glucose spike and so when a restaurant offers this I know they know true wellness!!! My girlfriends both ordered the avocado toast and loved it. One ordered the cherry vanilla limeade and enjoyed it as well, but as an avid cherry hater I didn't try it...but if you like cherry she recommends it! I would come back to Austin just to eat here again. So good. So jealous this isn't back home... did I mention that already??!!

I then realized reservations would be important, and it might be too late to get them. I put my name on a waitlist on OpenTable, some reservations opened up, and I grabbed them. Sunday I got to the area early in case parking was hard to find, but fortunately I found free street parking pretty easily. I was able to check in with the hostess early, but then we waited for my friend to arrive before we got seated. I'm so glad I had a reservation, because I heard them quoting an hour and 15 minute wait to walk-ins. They had a very orderly system to manage the crowds. We were seated on the patio (as requested, because the weather is perfect!) Our server brought us water promptly. We looked over the menu, and wanted to try everything but I made myself make the decision quickly and not second guess it. I got the lox plate to get something different than what I tend to eat at home. She got a salad, because she's on a keto diet. I'm actually on a break from keto. That's why I'm going out to brunch! Maybe sometime in the future we'd coordinate this better. My lox plate was delicious, but it seemed a little short on lox. I had leftover bread and vegetables in relation to the lox. My friend said the kale in her salad was massaged well. I appreciated how they brought us tiny rice krispie treats with the check! All in all, Paperboy is busy but on top of things. I'd love to go back!

They have a bar area and a separate food ordering window and once you open a tab at either area, you will only end up with a single bill. We ordered something to drink while we reviewed the burger options on the menu. We decided on the Amarillo burger and Double Dog Texas Tommy. Be warned, the burgers are Texas sized 12 oz patties and the double dog was big too so come hungry. After a short wait, your name is called to pick up your order at the window. Our food was delicious and truly one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. It was cut in half which facilitates eating it as a 12 oz burger is a massive bite. The double dog is also massive and was very beefy tasting. The interior of the bar is dark with a gothic horror film genre. There is an upstairs area with some games, two pool tables and a couple of old school pinball machines including a Frankenstein machine. The staff is friendly and will help you out with a menu and understanding how everything works. Yeah, a dive bar on sixth Street in Austin offers some of the best burgers anywhere!!

Food: I had the "Pitts" and hubby got the "Chicago" (burgers). Mine was exceptional, hubby's was just average. The burgers are HUGE, the buns are super soft, and the fries are crispy (unless you add chili and queso like I did--yum). Service: it's an "order at the counter" dive bar--don't expect too much. The bartenders were slammed, but quick with witty banter and cold drinks. We didn't order one, but the Bloody Mary looks like a work of art! As for the kitchen window, Mr. Grumpy Dick will unhappily take your order and bark responses that are mostly incoherent. It's clear from other Yelpers this guy is off his meds and shouldn't be interacting with people. Ambiance: we met 15 or so of our new best friends--the patrons are all super friendly (and drunk). The place is dark and loud, the bar chairs are likely originals from their grand opening in the 90s (mine no longer turned), and in general, Lysol couldn't hurt (it's similar to an outdoor patio except you're indoors). The AC couldn't keep up with all the traffic, so it got hot. Also, after England beat Norway, an explicit, insanely graphic horror movie was put on the TVs--yikes!! Not ideal in any eating establishment...ever. If you're in the mood for an authentic dive bar, this place has that vibe for sure!!

Fantastic breakfast and an even better server!…read more We had an absolutely great experience at Phoebe's Diner Downtown. Our server, Halley, deserves HUGE praise. She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and made the whole experience that much better. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly and happy to be there. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the Badass Bacon & Eggs ($14.99) and it was outstanding. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hash brown casserole was fantastic -- but the bacon was over the top! Thick, flavorful, and seriously some of the best bacon I've had at a diner. You have to try it! We also had the Migas ($15.99) -- fluffy eggs with onion, tomato, Hatch chiles, Hatch chile hollandaise, cotija, crispy masa cakes and red potatoes. Tons of flavor and another winner. And don't skip the coffee! Phoebe's serves locally roasted Texas Coffee Traders coffee, and it was excellent. Everything about our visit was great -- the food, the coffee, the atmosphere, and especially the friendly service. Halley was fantastic! If you're in downtown Austin looking for a great breakfast, put Phoebe's Diner on your list. You won't be disappointed.

There's a sign by the front door that gives you parking options. I was really torn with what choices to make... Pancake vs French toast: Pancakes were a little mushy/gummy for my taste. They are light but less sweet than many other pancakes. I'm typically pretty light on the syrup but I added more syrup for the sweetness. They are good, just less sweet. Next time I'd try the French toast which is made with thick brioche bread. Bacon vs sausage: Bacon is thick, not greasy you bite it like a piece of chewy pork, it's good; the smoked sausage is great! It's a little spicy, full of flavor. Eggs with onion added were quite flavorful. It was a good breakfast diner experience.

Bat City Breakfast Burrito - $19 Honestly, overpriced for a breakfast burrito. Maybe it's because it's inside the Hilton--similar to how Starbucks inside hotels often charges more than regular Starbucks locations. Brisket & Egg Taco $17 for one tiny taco feels way too expensive. The portion definitely didn't justify the price. Please see my pic in this review. All American - $22 Two eggs, applewood-smoked bacon, pork sausage, breakfast potatoes, and toast. A pretty standard American breakfast. The cherry tomatoes were actually the highlight--fresh, juicy, and sweet. Texas Benedict - $25 House-smoked brisket, spinach, English muffin, poached eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was nice except the potatoes. The brisket and poached eggs were good. ATP Parfait Greek yogurt, mixed berries, house-made granola, agave nectar, and mint. A nice lighter option, with lovely fresh fruit. My favorite for a busy morning. One downside was the slow service, especially considering there weren't many customers when I visited. If you're staying at the Hilton, and given breakfast voucher, it's okay. But if you're paying out of pocket, I think the prices are on the high side. Especially the brisket & egg taco was definitely not worth $17.
