I can only review the fact that I sat for 15 minutes and was not acknowledged by anyone. I got there on a Thursday at 5:50, hoping to sneak in a happy hour order. By 6:05, not a single person had stopped by my table. I watched a table 2 to the right of me have a drink order taken, a table across from me get a refill and across and to the right of me also get a refill. Oy, where do I start. Let's start with the good. Staff is very friendly and attentive. I've found the food here very uninspiring in the past so I usually go for something they can't mess up. In my last visit this past week, partner ordered several tacos which were OK, but nothing special. I ordered Nachos. It was the worst presentation I've ever seen for nachos. The chips were bland, the cheese sauce (more on that later) has NO taste--It's thin and flavorless and not hot and is a sauce--not melted cheese. The salsa was blah as well. I told the waiter to take it back and replace it with the Queso con Chilie. Again, flat and flavorless. Chips were the same ones we sent back. Everything I've had here is generally underseasoned. I was excited to go to the new Vig on Central which is now the closest to my house. I've had excellent experiences several other Vig locations, but was disappointed in this one. The service was good and the ambience of the old Ladera restaurant is still comfortable and casual. Maybe our problem was that we just went for happy hour. We each liked our specialty cocktails, but the nachos and charcuterie board were mediocre. The pretzel and cheese dip were the worst I've ever had despite it being from Noble bread. The cheese dip was as bland as can be and the pretzel was whole wheat with no salt on it. read more

Nice relaxed patio dining with live music. Super friendly staff and great service. Enjoyed the calamari appetizer along with the sirloin main course. It would be very easy to make this a regular hangout. Lots of local folks with family and friends. Definitely on my shortlist. read more

I cried with big baby tears when the Vig replaced Ladera. I have loved Ladera for years. But it turns out it wasn't a big deal. The Vig kept the Ladera charm, the amazing patio, the pups, and the service. The bar plays sports, which we love, and the food is amazing. The parking is EASY - they now allow you access to the lot next door. Perfect! I only wish it was more affordable so we could go every day! read more

Lovely setting, excellent service, but the food was at best mediocre. My salad was served wilted and overdressed; strawberries were soft and pale as if they had been sitting in the dressing for an extended length of time. This place was disappointing. I was excited to see it was so close and looked forward to some of the food items that were at The Vig on 16th St but they aren't on the menu. The food was bland. May I suggest giving the cook a salt and pepper shaker at least? The first time we went the hamburger was over cooked. The second time the "fried potatoes" were boiled, unseasoned potatoes merely smashed down with a fork or so it seemed. Service was fine. The food wasn't. The "bacon" came to the table billowing smoke and the server had to take it outside until it stopped smoking and brought back to the table. It was mainly burnt fat as was the toast. Not a little brown; burnt black. The avocado toast was the opposite; soggy bread with avocado smashed into it. Husbands choice was better. We learned of the new location and my three sons, and I thought we'd try on a late Sunday afternoon. There is not much I can say that was positive about our experience. It appears there is more effort put into the presentation of the food, rather than the taste, quality or portion sizes. Even that was not inspiring. The service was subpar. When we ordered water to drink, the server walked off and appeared disappointed to be serving us. She brought out two bottles of water to pour, and both bottles had old food stuck on the inside of the lid... gross and a little dangerous. We ordered a starter - queso - which came on a cold cast iron platter. The texture of the queso was like I have never seen... as it was fairly cool and spreadable. I'm not sure if this was on purpose, but I wish we would have been advised we were ordering cold cheese spread rather than a hot melted cheese. I regret I did not take a picture of it... as it was surprising. My sons each ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich. The chicken may have been deep fried once and then refried before serving to cut cooking time. The chicken was unreasonably crispy and easily broke into pieces. The hot honey flavor was not present. My 19-year-old ranked fast food Popeyes chicken above his meal. I ordered pork tacos and felt like I made out better than my sons. The meal was not memorable, and I would not order it again... but it did not leave me feeling taken advantage of either. Overall, the meal was just south of $100. I'm amazed what some establishments will charge for what they deliver... food and experience being key components to dining out. We're glad we tried and enjoyed each other's company, but the experience, food and service were sub-par. We have many food establishments in uptown Phoenix from which to choose. When your kids are saying we should not return, that is meaningful. read more

This rating is more for the drink I had there. I typically will get a The Flying High margarita when I go as it tastes phenomenal but I don't know what they did but they completely botched it. It tasted like bad water with a lime taste. We were sitting at the bar and I was polite and told the bartender that it doesn't taste right and I would like something different, he looked offended and said 'ok' in a rude tone. First time at this location and we loved it! Still has the same great vibe as Ladera but there's a freshness and warmth to the patio for sure. It was 45 degrees outside and we were more than comfortable on the patio. Highly recommend the chopped grilled chicken salad and also the pretzel on the appetizer menu. Happy hour had great choices and prices as well. We were a table of 4 and everyone had fabulous food. Service and the hostess were super welcoming as well. I recently visited The Vig with my husband. I ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken Breast. I was extremely disappointed that the chicken tasted like something from a hospital cafeteria! It was dry, tasteless and looked liked it was boiled! I advised the waitresses and all I got was oh sorry about that. We definitely won't be back and can't wait till O.H.S.O brewery opens close by. This place was such a disappointment. The hostess and manager had no idea how to seat people. Several people in line in front of us they told a few minutes, but they were returning after waiting 30 minutes and upset they weren't sat. We were then told a 1 hour wait. There were about 15 open tables that we were told were "reserved". After 40 minutes and no one showing up for their reservation we asked if we could sit at a small table that was open the entire time we waited. They sat us there. The entire time we were there (2.5 hours) no one sat at the 15 open tables. The food, just mediocre. We got the nachos and tacos. Tacos were $20 for 3 tacos. I ordered The Cheeky Lil Devil and that showed up after all our food was served. It was basically straight chili vodka and hard to even drink. We are so disappointed. We used to come here every week when this place was Ladera. Ladera was SO MUCH BETTER. They ruined this place by making it The Vig. read more
