It's nice to have a PO Box for some privacy, but it's just not worth it at this price, it's really expensive for a tiny box especially as some businesses prohibit use of non-residential addresses. It's also tough to find parking. They do make an effort at customer service. Sometimes lines are too long. read more

With some trepidation, I dropped off my Amazon return package here today. Like many others have reported, I had had a bad drop off experience a few months ago - a rude, accusing clerk to start with. But I refused to buy a new box from them or pay for packaging tape. Still it was not a nice way to start the morning. I'm happy to report that today's drop off was EZPZ. Took less than 10 seconds for a smiling, warm clerk to scan my package and give me a printed receipt. So all those complaints on YELP made an impact. No more nickel and diming on cardboard boxes, packing tape, etc., I've been coming here for years and this is the most convenient location. Easy parking, too. This particular UPS was very difficult to find. Apparently they are located in the Shattuck Commons, but the directions / map kept leading to CVS across the street, so I kept walking back and forth in the general area. I went inside CVS thinking that it was inside, but there were no signage and a long line, so I left. I asked a few people outside for directions / help, but no one knew where the store was. After finding them, the process was alright - just waited in line, dropped off my package to return, and left. read more

Absolutely ridiculous experience. My wife tried to drop off a Nike shoe return and they said it couldn't be in the shoe box, Nike policy. Had to be in a bag or a box but we could buy it from them for 7 dollars. We live down the street so walked back to get a bag and returned. The lady then proceeded to tell her that the bag was not sufficient so we returned home to get a Amazon box. They then claimed that the tape job was not good enough and it would cost 5 dollars to do that. At this point, it was clear they were just trying to make money from us. I then walked down the street to a UPS TRUCK, and the driver gave us the tape for free. He said that UPS store are new owners and they were ripping us off. He even told us to post this review, and he's from the same organization. I came back to the store and the owner, Rao Vinay (?) refused us service at that point. Must be really hurting for business. Take your business elsewhere; dime a dozen. There are a lot of UPS stores around. UPDATE: Went down to the location on 2342 Shattuck in downtown Berkeley and they took it without question. I asked them to inspect it and they said they've taken boxes in way worse condition and what this location was doing was ridiculous. See picture on scale for confirmation. I can't understand why this place doesn't have loads of 5 star reviews. I am a longtime Berkeley resident who has often used the UPS stores downtown (Shattuck) and on Alcatraz near College. Parking and service at this store are so much better! The staff are friendly and helpful, and parking is generally easy. If there's a line, it moves quickly. Highly recommended. read more

Very unhelpful. Came here for an Amazon return and they forced me to pay $5.50 to buy a box for it. I was returning the item in the same box Amazon sent the product to me in. Amazon didn't mention the need for a new box in their return directions, but the UPS store employee forced me to pay, even when they saw that it was the same box Amazon shipped to me in. I brought a package with contents worth $3500 to this UPS store. The young man told me that, with insurance, it would cost over $300 to ship it to Idaho. I left without sending it. I looked up insurance costs on the UPS website and found that insurance for $3500 of value would be about $50 and shipping would be about $30. I called the store to ask them about their much higher cost. The young man told me that the cost for insurance varied from store to store. He encouraged me to purchase a shipping label online and drop off the package at any UPS store. I will still use the store for drop offs but I will never buy services directly from them. read more

Came here today with an appointment to have a live scan. Staff was not eager to help me, store was empty. When the employee came to do my fingerprints he had to repeatedly do them and they did not take. He must have done them 8-10 times with no success. Two other women employees were standing by witnessing that he had a problem. No body offered to help. Finally I asked if someone could help him. The possible manager came over, did a final step that the previous employee did know how to do, and it worked. Then the possible manager said something about a picture. I asked her to explain and she was vague and continued to be unhelpful. I then said thank you for ignoring me and she said, you're welcome. DANGER ZONE Went in today and there was this old guy who was being served (took ages) and he was not wearing any mask. There is a sign outside that says they only admit x number of customers inside at a time and they all should wear a mask, but no enforcement. When I asked the petite female staff member, she said that she was on her own and couldn't fight every customer all day long. Obviously, she is a short female employee who is very sweet and must care dearly about keeping this lousy job, and feels like she has to put up with the unlawful behavior of despicable reckless people because her boss does not back her up. Her boss does not have to stand in a confined space for hours every day with people not wearing masks. If you are this employee's boss, shame on you. I am taking my business to the UPS Elmwood store where they enforce the face covering rules to protect their employees. read more

We take for granted using the office copier, fax machine, and mailing supplies. In the absence of these amenities, I've been to this great UPS Store. Unlike the Kinkos do-it-yourself way where there's always something broken, the helpful staff copies your documents, faxes them, and will throw tape on your shipments for a small suggested donation for their sponsored girls softball team. I think I've spent many no more than five minutes for the staff to complete my tasks. Free parking behind the building is a huge plus! read more

I've had a box at this UPS Store location for a little over 1.5 years before moving out of state. I've had nothing but very responsive, helpful service from the entire staff at this location, including dealing with some mail that for some reason continued going to my old box despite changing my address. And I've only witnessed satisfied customers the many, many times I have gone into this location. I go in and before I say anything someone is going to get my packages! So my experience was fantastic and I recommend this location and the folks running it! read more

Mandeep is literally the best, I love this location. Albeit it is pretty busy from opening to closing the customer service is the best. Mandeep is the person usually behind the desk and she helps everyone and is super nice. There is parking all around the location but it is paid. If you see there isn't a line you usually can park and run in really quickly. The parking isn't too much. The location is also on a corner and in a small shopping center meaning there is a lot of foot traffic. The employees do the best they can but there is usually only one person there at a time to deal with all the customers. They do their best and give everyone individualized attention. You may have to wait if there is a line or someone with multiple order. This location is nearby my office and we mail things a lot so I come at least once a week. Can't say more about this location. Customers can be rude and pushy but the employees are always cool and kind. Be warned they generally don't open right at 9am, their posted hours say they do but I wouldn't count on it. read more

Horrible experience. Dishonest management. I had a problem over Christmas holidays season when wrong UPS packages started to come to my address. I received 20 packages and more were coming every day. I could not fix this over the phone with UPS and came to this location for help. First time they took one package and promissed to route it back to sender. I received this same page next day. When i came again asking for help, not only i wasnt offered any but i was threatened by the manager to call police if i leave packaged at this location, and he made a fraudulent threat that i am liable for these packages. Thanks god that UPS truck driver was at the location and he offered his help and called the UPS center/management. The UPS driver was super helpful and understanfing.. however this UPS store location management... i hope they go out of businesss and soon, this kind of "customer service" has no place in Berkeley. read more

We left a lamp fixture in our room upon checking out. We purchased it overseas from a local artisan. Now you can understand how important it was to us. After making many phone calls with no assistance I fell upon Rahul. in the most efficient, caring, and exacting ways he has our lamp fixture to us in 48 hours. He picked up the large box from the hotel, he dressed it in a larger box with padding for safe traveling and shipped it to us. His pricing was not inexpensive, but incredibly fair. Said woman took my item--an elaborate magic trick involving large feathers--and crushed it into a bag, thereby destroying any possibility that it could be reused or recycled. I went here today and asked the owner of the UPS store because I wanted to return a item from Amazon. He was reluctantly scanned the code and told me "wrong code". Not returnable. So I called Amazon and asked to send another return label and code. After they send me another code, they asked to show the code to UPS store. So I went back inside and asked Raj, the business owner to scan the code. He got extremely upset and yelled me "I know how to do my job and don't ever come back to my store" so I told him you have no customer service and furthermore he told me " Get the F out " or I call Police ". However, the last time I came in I observed UPS drivers coming into the store without wearing masks, coming close to customers, and talking up a storm. Whoever manages this place, get it together. This is a review of using notary services at this location. We scheduled online for a 2pm appointment for notary services. When we showed up for our appointment, there was a sign on the door saying "out to lunch, back 2:25." Because I'm disabled, it's actually a big deal for me to get someplace, which is why we made an appointment, and I'm not able to wait around for 25 minutes for the appointment to start. For some people maybe it wouldn't be such a big inconvenience, but for me it's really hard. I understand sometimes people need to take breaks at unexpected times, but all my contact information was in the appointment form so they could have just let me know not to come. read more

When I have a bad experience with a business, I'm willing to consider that it might be someone having a bad day or one employee not being a great asset to the business. Twice... well, I have enough information to say I won't do business there. Once I needed to mail a silk scarf and was told I couldn't put in a mailing envelop because it's not paper. Yesterday, I was told that mailing my niece's 7 oz bedroom slipper to her in Massachusetts would cost $100+ because it can't go in a padded envelope. Hmmm. Went two blocks over to You Send Me and put it into a padded mailer. With insurance (my niece has expensive taste in slippers!) $15 via USPS priority mail.
