They get one extra star for convenience since it's local but everyone here is grumpy, clearly not happy to deal with customers, and slow. In comparison to the other local UPS stores in the area I go to this one when I'm not looking to drive -- but it takes 3x longer to get anything done and it's always busy with long lines of people who also don't want to be there. I also know coming here the vibe is angry to frustrated -- which just puts a damper on the day. I feel bad for the employees, and hope they find something else that makes them feel like the job isn't a chore or annoyance that they should take out on the customers. never thought id be writing a review of a UPS store, but i guess this is life in my 30s idk what it is about this location, but man they are always busy. not like south congress USPS busy, but busy. Unlike USPS however, every single associate (and the manager) are incredibly kind and quick in working through the queue. idk how many times ive been to this store and got into the line when it was backed up to the door, but ill be damned if i wasnt outta there in 15m max. one case that jumps to mind was when i had a weirdly sized package i needed to get to a friend, and there wasnt anything that quite fit the spec without being silly oversized and would result in me spending a small fortune on packing peanuts/bubble wrap that id never get the satisfaction of popping for myself. the manager was working the front lines, and offered to help me out by explaining how to adjust a given box, and then offered to do it for me! the place was busy too so i would have understood if she wanted to just move on to the next customer, but she was kind enough to take a couple minutes to knock it out. 10/10 would recommend for your shipping/amazon return needs. read more

This place needs to get its sh!t together!! I have been going here for over 5 years about once a week. Almost every time, there is a huge line, but for no reason. It's usually because someone is having trouble with the copier or having problems paying. And they always only have 1 or 2 people working the front even though there are MANY others walking around, usually doing nothing. Every time I am there I want to scream. This is the worst UPS store ever. They don't nickel and dime you, they $5 and $10 you. Stay away from this place. Deal with FedEx on Bee Caves or just drop off your package at the Collier box. Shame on UPS for franchising to these people. If there was a zero star option I would pick it. read more

New owner/management didn't impress me any on Saturday afternoon (yesterday). They decided to leave a new employee in the store alone. I spent 20 minutes being kind and patient with the kid. I had a package going to a soldier in Afghanistan. I still have the package because he could not figure out how to. He called the new owner who said he would be another 20 minutes before returning. If customer care is not #1 I'll take my business elsewhere. It was so busy non-stop the entire time I was there. Sweet employee but the struggle was difficult to watch and be a part of as he "tried" with a line of customers growing. No excuses for this poor decision making. I can get this type of service at the post office and pay less. **** update***** I returned the following Saturday and found the new associate more experienced in his learning process but luckily when he had questions on how to process my shipment an experienced co-worker was there to help and we finally got it shipped read more

Wow. In all the years I've done business at this store I have never felt so disregarded and disrespected! I had just called the number for this store and was told that yes, they do shredding and "we're open until 7p". I loaded up my box of documents and carried them to the store (I'm handicapped, so this was a bit of an ordeal, which was obvious to the staff when I staggered in). I walked into the store (with no other customers present) and set my box on the counter in front of one of the three staff present. I stood in front of the lady, with my face 3 feet away from hers, while she continued her conversation with a co-worker. After a bit, I said hi, I need to get these documents shredded. Her response "Bin's full". I said, but I just called and drove straight over. She said, "You must've talked to the call center". I told her I don't know anything about a call center, I called the number for this store and drove straight over. She stated again "The bin's full". As I was trying to continue the conversation and not have to carry my 40lb box back home she turned her back and simply walked away while I was in mid-sentence and never looked back. Okay, so I get it that the bin was full. That's not my complaint. My complaint is the rudeness and total disrespect shown by this member of the staff. read more

So I needed to drop off a UPS package. This merchandise return is a pretty crappy story in itself I would LOVE to vent about. I'll stick with the UPS store Yelp because it's just the icing on this big cake of shit. I walk in with this small box and tell the guy I need to send this back and it has a pre-printed label from the company on it. Now the top of the box was not taped up. We just moved. We are out of mailing tape from taping other boxes. I thought surely they would put a piece of wide plastic tape across this small (and I stress small box). No can do. They wanted $1 for the tape and to check the contents over to make sure they won't get damaged. Huh? Wha? All the original packing material is in there! They then proceed to tell me they don't make any money off drop-offs like this and they are a separate company from UPS even though they are called The UPS store. Fine, I get it. It's only a buck. It's not going to break me. And when I am in a long line at the post office, I get annoyed with people that ask for tape at the desk and proceed to package their items to mail. But come on, nickel and diming me a buck for tape just isn't good customer service. It doesn't make me want to EVER use the UPS store again. It doesn't make me want to send things UPS over FED EX or USPS. It just makes me remember these tools at the UPS store who wanted a buck for tape and tried to give me a sob story about how they are a separate company from UPS and don't make any money off of drop offs. Well then go back to calling yourself Mailboxes ETC. You can't have it both ways! read more

I have had a UPS shipping system in my office for over 25 years but we are moving so I needed to drop off a package. The store manager was rude and when I asked for the owner's information he said "he won't talk to you." Well excuuuuuse me! This guy told me things about what UPS allows and can't do that I know aren't true because I've been dealing with them myself for a very long time. So even though he knew it was a huge inconvenience he refused to accommodate me and I had to go somewhere else simply to ship using my account number. So I went to the store at Westgate & William Cannon the very nice owner confirmed that the what the guy at the So. Lamar told me was complete baloney, which I already knew. If you have another option, go somewhere else. These guys are the pits and if you look at the reviews, that pretty much tells the story. You can ship a package at another UPS store or at either Office Maxx or Office Depot (one uses Fedex) and the experience will probably be better. read more

Want to be humiliated, talked sharply to and have a salesman make your kid cry? Then, this is your kind of store! These people are amazing on how rude they are. I went in to ship a package and they were incredibly unhelpful, mean and critical of my parenting. I'm sorry, but can you hold a 2 1/2 year old and three packages? Maybe some help with the packages so I can hold my kid? I even asked for help and got scoffed at. This place is unbelievable. I don't know how any owner can think it is ok for their employees to treat their customers this way. The absolute worst UPS Store I've ever been to (and I've been to many). I almost sued these yo-yo's for gross incompetence and negligence but decided it wasn't worth my time or aggravation. But let me assure you; if you care about decent customer service and entrusting your valuables to a business with even just a smidgen of caring or competence..stay the heck away from these people. You deserve better. There are other UPS Stores in Austin which actually care about delivering great customer service. Without going into the details of my horror story with these clowns, just know that they don't do their job like other UPS stores. You will be asked to sign a contract, but the problem is they don't do what the contract says. Everybody acts like they're deaf, dumb and blind and will just take your money without explaining to you what you're really buying --- like it says in their contract. In addition, you are dealing with arrogant, condescending and downright rude individuals behind the counter. Read the other reviews. Notice a pattern? They say a fish stinks from the head down, and that couldn't be more accurate when describing the service -- or lack thereof -- at this store. When my problem arose, I dealt directly with the owners Chuck & Maxine Dixon who assured me *profusely* that they would take care of the problem. Unfortunately for me, the problem was never taken care of and they just gave me the run around for months after that. Never even had the decency or cajones to call me back and explain their obvious decision to not come through on their promise. Well, congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Dixon -- you just earned another 1 star review! Glad to see you decided to step over dollars to pick up a few pennies. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE!!! This is literally the WORST customer servie I've ever experience!! Let me explain: I had to get a mailbox before I moved from San Diego to Austin last month, so even after I read some bad reviews about this place, I decided to get a mailbox due to the convenient location (I live in South Lamar as well and I don't like to drive much). Setting it up took many phone calls (the guy NEVER seems to reply to my emails so I had to keep calling to check receipt of scanned forms, etc.), he was HAPPY to take my payment over the phone tho! So when I got there, problems started: I got a business mailbox where I'm allowed to have as many as 3people along with my business name. The guy in charge started to REJECT shipments sent to my business partner without even telling me, or giving me a slight notice. Not until I confronted him with tracking #s I was able to tell what was going on. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE? you are right. Today I went to pickup my mail, the guy actually TOSSED a package in the counter, I signed the little form, said 'thanks', this guy (a stupid person with a snotty attitude) didn't even say thanks back. I'm planning on putting a dispute over the charges made to get a mailbox and get a mailbox somewhere else. So hear me: DON'T GO TO THE UPS STORE IN SOUTH LAMAR. When I called to ask them to help, they were completely unwilling to look for the box (in the event that it never made it onto the truck).
