I accidentally left my original review here rather than for the Hancock Center store I visited, but I'm keeping a review here because the owner's pathetic response needs to be called out. Original review: ----------------------- Staff is always friendly. But they don't always know what they're doing. I asked the cost to mail a simple letter to Japan and they said $240! I said I didn't need to send it the fastest way, they said that doesn't change the price. I said that can't possibly be right, they insisted it was. Notably, they didn't give different prices for different tiers of service, just a single price and they said that was it. I went home and looked it up, and of course staff had quoted only the highest tier service (Express), which is about twice the price of a lower tier (Expedited). (Also, FYI, if you buy on the website it's as cheap as $90, and buying the UPS label through Parcel Monkey it's only $43.) ---------------- UPDATE: Reducing to 1 star based on the idiotic reply by the owner. He wrote as though I was complaining about the pricing, COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT, meaning he either couldn't be troubled to actually read my review rather than skimming it, or was just too stupid to understand it. To spell it out to the owner: (1) The complaint was not that prices are high. (2) The complaint is that staff gave WRONG pricing. They priced for the MOST EXPENSIVE option, AND they said that was the ONLY option. (That's how I was able to buy a UPS label elsewhere for much cheaper.) There are reasons this location has a pathetic 2.9-star rating. If management wasn't clueless they'd focus on fixing the problems rather than making excuses. read more

I like this UPS location actually; it's convenient because it's close to where I work. My only issue is there's only like three tiny parking spots so that's limited but otherwise they have really friendly staff, and a quick return station eg for Amazon and TikTok shop items. Saturday, my package containing time-sensitive passport documents was marked as delivered to this location at approximately 12:10 PM. When I arrived 20 minutes later, the store was closed. The only notice provided was a paper sign on the door claiming closure due to "weather," despite the fact that there was no snow or ice in Austin and surrounding businesses were operating normally that entire day. What makes this situation unacceptable is not just the closure, but the store's complete refusal to actually communicate. I made repeated phone calls no voicemail was set to communicate the closure or email updates . At the same time, the store owner is actively responding to positive Google reviews posted that day, while intentionally ignoring my review and others raising urgent, legitimate concerns about access to time-sensitive items. This selective engagement demonstrates a clear disregard for customers experiencing real harm. There was no notice posted online, on Google, or on social media warning customers of the closure, nor any contingency plan communicated for retrieving mail. Accepting delivery of critical documents while denying customer access and refusing communication is grossly irresponsible. As a direct result of this store's actions, I am placed at risk of missing international travel tomorrow, losing substantial non-refundable expenses, and additional time off work. This situation was entirely preventable and falls far below the standards customers expect from a UPS-branded operation. I have no idea if they are going to be closed tomorrow so I can try and make some kind of arrangements or try and mitigate my losses. read more

I would not recommend mailing a breakable package through this store. We had professionally packaged (or so we thought) a chandelier. The box it came in didn't even have fragile or breakable on it. I use this UPS store for occasional shipping and the service is fast and efficient. The staff is always helpful with any questions I have. Mostly, I use this ovation from Amazon returns, and I have to say, their setup here is excellent. It was already good, but now, you don't even have to use a team member to get your items returned. You simply scan your return code, bag and label your item, then place it in a bin. So quick and simple, plus you don't have to package or label anything before. Parking is always available, and the store is busy, but never overly so. read more

Luckily, it was not busy today when I came in but I'm sure during rush hour it may be difficult to find a parking spot so I would suggest adding additional time to your schedule for a stop here. read more

I received a notice from Amazon telling me that a package had been delivered to my box on 8-15- 23. I go to the store to pick it up today 8-16-23 and check my mail, only to see no slip in my box, nor had I received a email from the store saying I had a package. I ask if I have any packages for my box. They begin to ask me about a package dated 8-1-23.The package that was put in my box and not handed to me, that I already explained to them about, but it's still listed as not picked up.I ask about the package that Amazon said was delivered on 8-15-23. They look can't find any packages for my box, other than the one dated 8-1-23, next I am asked if I have my Amazon tracking number, I go to my car to get the Amazon tracking number and now the package that was delivered yesterday 8-15-23 has beeping found. I received no notification or email. This is not the 1st time packages have been lost at this store and I informed the owner and the manager. I call one of the managers Chris who I had spoken with the last time I had a i situation with a lost package that was never found. Chris explained how they we're training new staff and they were working out things. Today 8-16-23 I phoned to let Chris know the situation and he said that they had found that at other stores Amazon was saying they delivered the package on one day and they found it to be the next day. I have never had Amazon tell e a package was delivered and it was not there, unless as this location lost my package. I was explaining this to Chris and Chris proceeded to say to me and I quote-" So are you asking to close your box and get a refund?" | explained to him I am never at a lost for words and this is how you respond to a customer who rents a box that is explaining how packages are handled at this store. This is the worst handling of information that I have encountered by someone that is supposed to be in charge of making sure a store is ran correctly and packages are delivered to the people that rent a box at this business. Go to the 34th St to mail & return items. Usually the staff is efficient & kind. Not today. They have an employee, Gina, who is incredibly intense,disorganized, and defensive. While in the middle of doing my very short transaction, she interrupted our transaction twice. When I asked her to just finish with me before she goes off on another direction, she got defensive & told me off as if my concern wasn't warrented. She said this to me as she's was walking away from me to the back, so she was very loud. When she returned, i had to ask her for my receipt & she acted like I was asking for something extra. 1st time this sort of treatment has occurred at this location. Up until now, i have been lucky not to have to deal with her because when i walk in, I do notice that she is always intense. UPS, please train your people on organization & soft skills. read more

This is my local UPS store and I use them all the time for notary services and mailing simple packages. I had a more complex mailing issue and had phoned this location in advance. I gave a detailed explanation of the services that were needed and requested a quote. The employee at the store took my information and called me about 30 minutes later after putting together a quote after talking to a superior at the store. I felt that the quote was slightly high but reasonable and thus brought all of my shipment items to the store. Once I arrived with all of my mailing materials, the employee at the store called his office manager who then subsequently more than tripled the price of the quote that I was provided over the phone. The response from the employee was a simple "sorry can't help and let me help you place your mailing items back in your car." this entire experience was more than just inconvenient. The manager was fully aware of the quote that I was provided and was aware that I was in the office but did not give any regard to this. it turns out that the owner of the store owns multiple UPS stores in the city. I called another location that was not owned by the same management and was able to get my mailing completed without any issues and for a much more reasonable price than this location. If a business cannot honor their word it is not a establishment worth doing business with. read more

This customer proceeded to go up to the front when an employee kindly told them that I had been waiting before them and let me go first. Apparently, the clerk was unaware that was not their policy, because he denied saying it when I went back. They even suggested I may have been running a scam. So far I've only been in here twice to return items to Amazon. Very quick process, with return receipt provided for confirmation. I was in and out in in less than four minutes, even with one person ahead in line. The parking situation is less than ideal. Their lot is minuscule. There is no curb parking on the surrounding streets (medical offices and Seton Hospital nearby). That said, there appears to be quick turnover, and a parking spot usually opens up before long. read more

This UPS store was sort of interesting looking from the outside, but yeah...kinda sad to experience the lameness of Emily's service. Emily, who was unhelpful with the process of dropping the projector off, was encouraging me to think I had a reciept based on the tracking number in an e-mail from Amazon. Not only did I not have any receipt or confirmation e-mail from UPS, but I would have had to click on the tracking link, which would not open in their store based on poor internet service. Also, I was asked to do all of the legwork involved in getting the shipping label sent to my e-mail instead of just getting it from another arm of UPS, making me call Amazon in their store instead of their just calling the UPS pick up service, which yeah, lame. I paid Emily 23$ or so for packaging, but when I asked for a reciept after realizing I had no confirmation they had the package she told Mik to go look for it, that it was in a Yellow Forever 21 bag...weird that she could not have gone to get the confirmation information herself, since I had given her the projector and my money to package and ship. Mik had no interaction with me up until the point where I realized I needed a reciept, and Emily made sure she looked really really busy "helping" the other male employee so I could not ask for the receipt from her, which would have been much more appropriate since she had taken my money and made me call Amazon, get the label sent to my e-mail, send it to their e-mail, etc. There was only one other customer in the store! C'mon Emily, very lame. Mik was very helpful, showing me on the reciept the address of their UPS location to verify I had proof that I dropped off my projector with them. Do not, I repeat DO NOT ever ship valuable items from this store. About a month ago I shipped four large boxes and a suitcase across the country from Austin to LA as I was moving cities. I was given no information regarding whether my boxes were packed well, were too heavy, or would be damaged in the transition. I was however told that if damage occurred I would be eligible for up to $100 dollars back for each box shipped. Cut to me arriving in Los Angeles and every single box is damaged, things are broken, lost, the boxes looked like they had been run over by the shipping truck. When I spoke to the receiving store they told me that as UPS employees they would never have shipped my boxed because they were too heavy and that the sending store (This Austin UPS) should have informed me of that fact. Instead, I spent over $600 dollars to ship my personal belongings that were severely damaged. I filed a claim with UPS with mid-August and was told it would take eight business days to get my case solution. It has now been over a month and I have to call this store weekly to get any sort of information about my claim. Everytime I call I have to remind them of my claim and they say they will handle it and call me back, they never do. So now I have to call them weekly to remind them of the money back they owe me. Just don't ship with UPS, especially this store. read more

As I am buying more and more items online, it is extremely convenient to have these guys always available to collect my package and email me when something arrives. Usually have to stop by once a week so call me a regular. 6 months or so ago they did a complete turn over in employees moving the original staff to another location. Wrong move!!!!! Recommendation: Avoid UPS at 1101 W 34th for passport photos. Here's why: (1) I had my photo taken in December at UPS. Submitted my passport application. Rejected because the photo did not meet the standard. (2) Went back to UPS. I had my photo taken in January at UPS. Resubmitted my passport application. Rejected for the second time because the photo did not meet the standard. (3) I had my photo taken in February at UPS. This time the store manager took my photo. Resubmitted my passport application for the third time. Rejected because the photo did not meet the standard. I generally had a super easy mailing experience. Woman at the front was extremely lovely. She debilitated the utilization of dark colored sacks on the grounds that each experiences machines now. I mailed a package of American Girl Dolls and accessories sold on eBay from this UPS store and when the package arrived at the buyers she said it looked like it had been hit by a sledge hammer (with photos to prove it). When I called the UPS store to complain, Chris said it sounded like a conveyor belt issue. When I told Chris that it should have had a fragile sticker on the package he said unfortunately conveyor belts can't read. When I told him that it was insured for $195 he asked if I remembered signing something that said if they didn't pack it then they weren't responsible for it. Of course the claim for $100 was denied so I had to pay the buyer for their damage to the dolls and accessories. Alejandro was slightly less rude than Chris at the store but all in all this was a shoddily run store and I'll never ever send a package with them again. read more

Needed to send a highly time-sensitive Visa application with my US passport to Houston. Paid $60 to ship my documents Next Day AM at 2PM on a Wednesday. They should have arrived at 8AM Thursday (today) easily, but the package spent 28 hours IN AUSTIN. Documents are currently scheduled to arrive in Houston Friday morning at 8AM (not Thursday as promised). Technically, the package STILL hasn't left Austin (9:16PM) so I'm not holding my breath. Terrible customer service. I needed to print my taxes from my email. Arrived when there were no customers and three clerks. Was told to use the computer, but clerk left me before it was set up and it wasn't obvious how to get my document to print using the UPS software. I asked again for help, and was told by another clerk he would help me in a moment. After three more customers were served before helping me, I asked for help again, and got as much help as I did the first time. After paying the minimum $2.95 charge to my credit card to access the UPS computer, I left without any prints. Will go to Office Depot next time. read more
