Geek Artist is really great! We initially started with them because we wanted email addresses that…read moreweren't yahoo or gmail, got tired of having to deal with ISPs, especially when we had to move, and decided to register a domain. There are places we could get this done for a little less money, but the level of service we get from Geek Artist is worth more than the difference in price. Initially, I had plans of putting together our own personal website, but the time involved in planning that has proved more than I care to devote. After seeing some of the web sites that Geek Artist has designed, I referred friends who needed help with small business sites, and am now getting my own site worked out through Geek Artist. Other hosting and web design services seem to either provide really poor service or poor follow through, but Geek Artist has done a great job meeting all of my needs and exceeding my expectations. I've recently gotten a copy of the web design book, Website Wonders Made Easy, that Janice wrote. It's helped with my understanding of the process a lot, and if I had more personal time, I might use it as the springboard for building my own website. Since I don't, it really gives me the confidence in Janice and Geek Artist that they know what they're doing.

Initially, the dweebs at Geek Squad came to mind - but I've used them before and I have never been satisfied with the level of support or the response-time it takes to get someone to commit to helping me by a specified time. To me, the measure of a service provider is the turnaround time. I didn't have 5 days to wait, let alone 48 hours. So I nixed the Geek Squad and took to a local search on the Internet to see if I might find a genius who could nurse my laptop back to life and retrieve my docs. I located a local firm, Element 26, and sent an email inquiry highlighting my problem. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email and a call from Element26 within a few hours of my initial message. By the next day, my computer was operating once more. The gentleman was able to quickly diagnose the issues with my computer and went to work to fix my machine. Amongst the things he did was help partition the computer, eliminate some of the 'clutter' and things that were bugging my operating system that caused the system to crash and/or lock-up. I consider myself fairly advanced with computers, but whatever he did was more behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood-of-the-car-esque. My computer hasn't had a bit of problem since, but if it should, I'm going to speed dial Element 26. Definitely go to them if you're in need of computer support and you don't want to advertise to the world that you've got Geeks on-site who drive white-and-orange VW beetles. And if you're wondering - their guys looks like normal dudes with a healthy skin color who doesn't stay indoors all day to play World of Warcraft and computer games. Recommended for great support, computer expertise, and client focus.

I called and met with Dan at Element TwentySix and he helped me think through my desires and concerns and understand my options. Then he helped me with the design and implementation process. For the last five years, he has been my web guardian, making sure that my site is appropriately up to date and protected, all at a reasonable cost. Now I know something: if it's a doable tech task, Dan can probably do it and promptly. Good guy.

My biggest complaint with Creatuity was that they recommended an extension for my website that ended up causing my whole website to crash. I then needed Creatuity to repair my site, for which they charged me $150 an hour to fix. When I told them I didn't think it was fair to bill me to fix my site after it was broken by installing software *they* recommended, and after carefully following the instructions they gave me, they politely but stubbornly refused to remove the charge or even offer a partial discount. After this unhappy experience, I emailed the VP of Creatuity who was so helpful and accommodating when we were considering signing up with Creatuity, to let her know my experience and how unhappy I was with the way the situation was handled. She never responded to my email. I have worked with several web developers over the years to build and maintain my website, and Creatuity has been the worst experience I have had. By far.

First, the good - they really know what they're doing. I looked to hire them because I had seen them at so many conferences, and saw some of the big companies (including Magento and Pinterest) that were hiring them. They have quite a bit of experience and are really well known. The downside to that is that they charge a bit more and I actually had to wait on a waiting list before I could start working with them. They did good work, and were able to take care of all of my projects, and made recommendations for additional ways to improve my site. The bad, though - I guess since they are in high demand, they charge a bit more and required invoices to be paid on Net 7 instead of Net 15 or Net 30. It took some getting used to. They do also charge for all of the time they spend on your project, so it's more like working with an accountant, lawyer or consultant than working with a freelancer. All in all, I was pleased with my experience with them.
