Do not take your computer here unless you want to be challenged to a fight in the parking lot. Seriously. That's exactly what happened to me Friday in Allen, TX, by PC Geeks' tech, Geoff Bennett. Apparently, geeks like street fights these days. Who knew? My account is below if you care to read it. My encounter with this business started normally enough. I was having a power problem with my PC, and took it to PC Geeks last Saturday. I was checked in by a gentleman there who said that the tech working on my computer would be Geoff, that the upfront charge for diagnostics was $49, and that Geoff would be in touch with me Monday after diagnosis. I spoke with Geoff on Monday, and he indicated that a part needed to be ordered, and that it would take a few days to receive the part. When I called Friday I was told the part wasn't there yet. Being a bit perturbed, having the expectation that the repair would have been done by Friday, that the part had not arrived, and that I was having to do all of the follow-up on the repair - having had no deliberate updates from PCG - I told Geoff to cancel the repair, and that I would just source the part myself. I was nearby, and showed up within 10 minutes of my phone call, and asked for my computer. Geoff brought my computer to the front desk. I started to pick it up to leave, and Geoff bellowed, "I TOLD YOU IT WAS 4-5 DAYS FOR DELIVERY OF THIS PART!" When I countered with my understanding that the job would be finished Thursday or Friday this week, he cut me off and yelled, "ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR?!" "OK Geoff, I think we're done," I said. "Give me an f-ing break," I mumbled as I reached for the door - as any normal, self-respecting person might do when met with a boorish idiot like this. Geoff heard me and followed me out to the parking lot trying to provoke a fight, saying "what did you say to me?" I repeated what I said, "give me a break." He corrected me and said, "no you said give me a f-ing break." "What's the difference?" I said. "Do you want to go? I'm ready to go [fight] right now!" he said. I squared up to him with my computer still under my arm and said, "are you really doing this?" He continued and said, "do you want to go, because I'm ready!" I told him I was leaving, I put my computer in the car and left. I don't normally or regularly write business reviews or post complaints. If a business' service doesn't line up with my expectations I may express my dissatisfaction directly, but I usually just to move on and take business elsewhere. I take exception when someone follows me to the parking lot and threatens me. And you should too. By the way, I took my computer directly to Best Buy, and they diagnosed it, no charge. They did not have the part, but the tech was very nice and allowed me to pick his brain for 5 minutes. I went home, and ordered a part on Amazon. It is being delivered (overnight, no charge). And I am installing it myself today. read more

Very good service! My laptop screen needed replacing and also I had a lot of viruses. Michael was very thorough in explaining every little bit of information needed to do with cost, parts, labor, everything! I can tell he really loves what he does. So detailed. Oh and I got my laptop back looking brand spanking new and running a lot faster. I'll definitely go back for any computer related hardware/software problems. read more

After I purchased a new computer from Best Buy and getting the complete runaround about getting the hard drive from my old PC cloned, I called PC Geeks. They said they would be glad to do it and gave me a price quote of $99; $100 cheaper than Best Buy's that mandated making an appointment to bring it in and leave it for 48 hours, although they would not accept it at the time of purchase to send out! Brought my new PC and the hard drive from my old one that had crashed, along with my external backup that had not been yielding me any necessary files. PCG soon call me back to say there were no files in my remote drive and the old hard drive was not yielding much more, he asked if I could bring my older remote drive, that I had mentioned, but thought no longer worked; so we fetched that down to them. By that time he had located the files, in an odd place, on the dead hard drive. The next day I got my new PC back with two large files, one containing the old hard drive files and the second with the files from my "dead" remote drive. They still only charged us the $99; which I think is a bargain! All of my interactions with the people there were very positive and I wish I'd gone to them when my old PC had crashed! read more

Low rating is for new tech who took over Michael Banks job (sadly for me Michael no longer works here). New guy kept my laptop for a week without any kind of communication. When I called I was surprised laptop was not fixed because he was waiting for a backup drive that I really didn't need but he had talked me into for photos. Really? He couldn't trouble shoot and fix performance problems while waiting for the backup drive that wasn't necessary as I didn't even end up getting it. Zero communications. He went on to reset my laptop which he never explained when I picked up the laptop, infact he explained nothing, and unlike Michael did not demo what he had done. I got home to my surprise email didn't work and continued to have same problems, and seemingly performance was worse. I called him and that's how I learned all he did was reset laptop. He didn't want to troubleshoot and took the easy way out for DOUBLE what I paid Michael a few months ago to fix an inoperable laptop full of viruses and myriads of issues. That laptop is now as good as new. My Mac is now the "armpit of laptops" in my house. This guy's solution was to take it back and if internet wasn't slow at his shop then nothing he can do. I explained all other laptops (mine is the newest) in the house don't have problems with internet performance and think it's something with the Mac that I had paid him to troubleshoot and fix. I should have saved time and money and used Google and Youtube to troubleshoot it myself. I feel ripped off right now. Does anyone know where Michael Banks went? He was a great tech who not only had a passion for what he did but cared for customer satisfaction! read more

Although our computer was repaired at a different location, I believe the owner I spoke to, Matt, was located at the Allen store. Firstly, the price originally quoted by this company was not what we ended up paying (it was significantly more) and when the computer was returned it still had issues. To make matters worse Matt was incredibly rude and agressive, making it clear he didn't care one iota about his customers. The way he handled the situation reminded me of a spoiled child, demanding that those around him bend to his wishes and then yelling and screaming when they won't. He and the whole experience left me wishing I had never stepped foot in this place. read more

If we could give these guys more stars, we would. We purchased a new computer and had them transfer years of data from our old one. Michael took his time explaining what we needed to transfer and what could be stored on a backup drive......tons of patience dealing with a customer with little technical knowledge. Delivered on time. Reasonable pricing. Service after the sale answering our questions has been outstanding. We will never go anywhere else! read more
