    24 Hour Data

Let me get started by saying I am a small business owner and Dallas…read moreand the team at 24 Hour Data have saved me from disaster with four separate clients, which could have ended my biz. They are literally my techie super heroes, and I can't speak highly enough of them. My drive was pulled off of my desk and dropped on hard wood floor, and I sent it in to a friend who recovers hard drives and it was out of his scope so he sent it to another data recovery place that was highly recommended. There were multiple problems, and it is a very complicated recovery, outside of a 24 hour deal, but I was still hoping for a relatively timely solution. My work is highly time sensitive and even one lost file is a huge problem, so I gladly paid to have this done. With the other company I was quoted 2 weeks, but fast forward FOUR weeks and they had given absolutely ZERO communication outside of the extremely vague "working on it, it's complicated." let alone any files. I took my drive back and brought it to 24 hour data and already had more updates and communication within 24 hours than I did in over a month with the other company, not to mention I GOT FILES BACK for the first of the four clients within THREE DAYS. They wanted to give me something to get started on while I wait for the rest, which they expect soon. Let me tell you, this means the world to me and I just want to shout it from the rooftops. They've been understanding and kind, and the most wonderful communicators every step of the way. Their customer service, professionalism, speed and mind reader abilities are the absolute best. TLDR/Too Long Didn't Read - 24 Data kicks ass, it doesn't matter what happened to your data, you can trust these guys. Dallas is a freaking data recovering ninja.

Do not take your computer here unless you want to be challenged to a fight in the parking lot…read more Seriously. That's exactly what happened to me Friday in Allen, TX, by PC Geeks' tech, Geoff Bennett. Apparently, geeks like street fights these days. Who knew? My account is below if you care to read it. My encounter with this business started normally enough. I was having a power problem with my PC, and took it to PC Geeks last Saturday. I was checked in by a gentleman there who said that the tech working on my computer would be Geoff, that the upfront charge for diagnostics was $49, and that Geoff would be in touch with me Monday after diagnosis. I spoke with Geoff on Monday, and he indicated that a part needed to be ordered, and that it would take a few days to receive the part. When I called Friday I was told the part wasn't there yet. Being a bit perturbed, having the expectation that the repair would have been done by Friday, that the part had not arrived, and that I was having to do all of the follow-up on the repair - having had no deliberate updates from PCG - I told Geoff to cancel the repair, and that I would just source the part myself. I was nearby, and showed up within 10 minutes of my phone call, and asked for my computer. Geoff brought my computer to the front desk. I started to pick it up to leave, and Geoff bellowed, "I TOLD YOU IT WAS 4-5 DAYS FOR DELIVERY OF THIS PART!" When I countered with my understanding that the job would be finished Thursday or Friday this week, he cut me off and yelled, "ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR?!" "OK Geoff, I think we're done," I said. "Give me an f-ing break," I mumbled as I reached for the door - as any normal, self-respecting person might do when met with a boorish idiot like this. Geoff heard me and followed me out to the parking lot trying to provoke a fight, saying "what did you say to me?" I repeated what I said, "give me a break." He corrected me and said, "no you said give me a f-ing break." "What's the difference?" I said. "Do you want to go? I'm ready to go [fight] right now!" he said. I squared up to him with my computer still under my arm and said, "are you really doing this?" He continued and said, "do you want to go, because I'm ready!" I told him I was leaving, I put my computer in the car and left. I don't normally or regularly write business reviews or post complaints. If a business' service doesn't line up with my expectations I may express my dissatisfaction directly, but I usually just to move on and take business elsewhere. I take exception when someone follows me to the parking lot and threatens me. And you should too. By the way, I took my computer directly to Best Buy, and they diagnosed it, no charge. They did not have the part, but the tech was very nice and allowed me to pick his brain for 5 minutes. I went home, and ordered a part on Amazon. It is being delivered (overnight, no charge). And I am installing it myself today.

Listen to Vinay O.'s review of this place. If I could give 0 stars, I would…read more I sent in my desktop computer because the RAM recently failed a boot cycle, which fried the SSD to the point that it could not have been repaired. After doing my own research, I decided that it would be best if I send in to a 'professional' to get it replaced and have the set up done. Once I got it back, everything ran considerably slower - The boot times went from a couple of seconds to 5+ minutes. I had to do my own research to discover that when they put in the new SSD, that was all they did. When they set up the new OS on my computer, they did not even bother to initialize the new SSD. That means that my computer was completely unaware that my SSD even existed. So for about 1.5 weeks, my computer has been running everything on the HDD, which even the most clueless of computer owners know is not right. It took me 30 seconds of googling to discover the proper procedure to follow in order to actually repair the issue from start to finish, and these guys managed to take about 2 weeks to do it, and they did it wrong. Find somewhere else to get your expensive electronics fixed, because these guys do not know what they are doing. Also the place reeked of sewage.
