Like others wo come to the shop, I was frustrated because I think I know how to manage computer inconveniences and do basic destroy the virus, but, there was no virus and no answer. After 2 weeks (and $600) they returned my computer with the same problems it had when i took it in. Another week and a half goes by before I get my computer back, and they couldn't even tell me what was wrong with it (maybe the hard drive, maybe the cpu). The owner was rude, yelled over the phone, and even hung up on me once. They begrudgingly refunded $300, half of what I paid. Came back to let them fix the desktop I brought in previously for a diagnosis. Their communication is very very good. I gave them my computer, got an update on the status the next day, and the couple days afterwards as well. They would tell me what they found, what options I have, and a quote for the parts. They would also e-mail the invoice for me to review. I had plenty of questions in terms of my options and they were very informative and helpful in finding the best choice for me. A small setback is that, after ordering the parts I wanted, they found out that the actual issue with the computer was with the Power Supply and not the motherboard. So I was refunded the costs of the motherboard I initially paid for, then got a power supply through them. Everything was done very quickly and the mistake only caused a 2-3 day delay (~10 days total) in getting my computer fixed. Considering I had assumed it would take ~2 weeks to get my computer fixed it was not a big issue at all. Oh, they also helped clean up the wiring in the desktop to make it more neat and it looks great - big thanks!! After a few weeks, no issues with the computer! Don't be a naive consumer like me, do your research! I can't comment on their repair services, but you should never pay a diagnostic fee! PC ASAP charged an "advanced diagnostic fee" of $172.18 (including tax). I brought in a 2010 Apple MacBook Pro After having my laptop for a few hours, the best news they gave me was they can replace the HD with a brand new one for $100, and the bad news was their software was unable to read my current HD and there was nothing else they can do except refer me to a 3rd party data recovery center. After all was said and done, I took my laptop to another place that did not charge me a diagnostic fee, but essentially told me the same news as PC ASAP (The only reason why I'm giving them 2 stars as opposed to 1). I'm currently shopping around for a data recovery services. TL;DR: I'm out $180 when I could have gotten a Diagnosis of my laptop for free. read more

Really helpful staff, the guy who helped me out explained everything he was going to do. They do charge a diagnostic fee but it was worth it to have my computer fixed the same day, and it was cheap then having to buy a new part for it. ! This is a small company, but they do big things. I was blown away by this place. Read the great reviews on Yelp. Went in because my macbook pro had a hard drive that wasn't showing up. David opened the computer up and saw that the hard drive had become unplugged along with the RAM showing to be unplugged. Apparently my laptop had taken a hit somewhere along the way. Anyway...he reconnected everything in the matter of 5 minutes or so and would not let me pay him for the service. That said...he has earned my trust and my computer is back to working great. Well what can I say I had to pay $200 just to drop it off just so they can look at it. They did fix it and said they had to run malware because the problem is not just on Safari it was in my actual computer. I had a great experience with PC ASAP. I contacted Joe about a problem with my desktop. He advised that they could take a look and that the first 15 minutes to assess the problem are no charge. The problem I had was fixed easily and as there were no parts needed nor did it take more than 15 minutes to assess and repair, there was no charge. At first PC asap seemed like a reasonable place to get my MSI laptop fixed. it was suffering from a shorting DC plug, screen connectivity problems, and busted hinges. What a mistake. I had a strict two week deadline for a diagnosis of the issues mentioned above and for an estimated price for all the fixes but no repairs. this was clearly stated at the point of drop off. Over the two weeks I talked to 3-4 different employees, the original of which no longer worked at the store when I picked my laptop up. I was told that the $170 diagnosis would cover any repairs to the laptop up to the $170 diagnosis fee. Anything more I would be charged for. The first guy told me this though I ensured him I just wanted a diagnosis and estimate costs. He also said it would take a few hours to diagnose and a few more to put back together. The second guy, the manager, called me repeatedly throughout the two weeks to disjointedly communicate to me the progress of my computer repair. I repeatedly reminded him of the two week deadline. I called several times and had to leave messages for him which I was told he would respond to later in the day. twice I got an email response and and once I got no response. My next call was met with no memory of our last discussion and me having to remind him what I wanted done to my laptop (which seemed to have been 'sitting in a box in pieces' and had not been diagnosed after one week. At this point I had agreed to a fast fix of the DC Plug so a part had to be ordered. I was quoted $50 for the part and repair which the manager said would fall under original diagnosis charge. Nearing the Pick up date I was calling everyday for a progress report and to remind them of my deadline. At this point I started talking to another (possible two other) employees who assured me the computer would be ready. On the pickup day I called to make sure it was ready. It was still in pieces and my two (expensive) hard drives were "lost!". What a disaster. I demanded that they be found (they were on someones desk) and that they have it ready as I was leaving town early the next morning for three months. upon arrival to the repair store I walked in to find my laptop on the front counter in about 4 to 6 pieces (it was one piece when I dropped it off). The screen had been separated from the hinges and the back of the screen, screen, and bezel were disconnected in a pile. The hinge covers were sitting casually on top of everything... a young technician emerged from the back like nothing was wrong. I exchanged words with him explaining my expectations that the computer would be in working condition and in one piece. Nothing of the contrary had been stated by anyone I'd talked too. He stated that it was impossible to reassemble as I'd given it to him is such a bad state (in one piece)... as he clumsily fumbled to show me that it would never go back together small screws and pieces fell out of the screen parts. They had stripped all of the remaining intact screw holes that the damaged hinges hadn't already destroyed. knowing I had to take it with me I made sure I could still log in and that my files were in tact. I couldn't log in because about 5 keys would not type... the back-lit keyboard doesn't work anymore either. Then they tried to charge me for the DC plug replacement which was ensured to me that it was included in the diagnosis charge. keep in mind the manager was off duty. The employee tried to call him twice.first he wouldn't talk to us then he called back and disputed the repair charges that he had agreed & forgotten After disputing the poor repair job I got the kid working there to reassemble the screen parts. after an Hour I returned to the store to pick it up. The screen was in one piece... great! but it was not connected to the hinges... it was hanging by a few wires... I was also offered a free monitor, keyboard, and mouse to compensate for all the damages. didnt want that crap. Another employee emerged from the back in a level-headed way to calm the situation and was concerned for the way it was handled. he submitted a report to the company owner and said the owner would contact us to resolve the problem. Over all... my screen turned on again and my dc plug was replaced and works again. the screen was in pieces upon arrival and then was reassembled but not attached to the laptop body (once home I was able to put the screen around the hinges but there are no longer and screws or usable screw holes to fasten the screen to the hinges. Right now the screen is leaning against something to keep it up...) the keyboard is un-usable due to several keys not working and the keys no longer are back lit... PC ASAP had bad communication across the board, did not take responsibility for their crappy diagnosis/repair, tried to charge me for something I had paid for already, their owner has not gotten in contact with me still, and they tried to buy my silence by offering me crappy stock from their back room. read more

Brought my laptop in today. As someone who is not computer savvy at all, he could've told me that there were tiny elves inside my laptop and he needed to charge me to get them out. Instead, he told me that my charging cord was dead AND I needed a new battery...causing a dual problem. He told me to use my husbands charger and told me where I could get a new battery. Then sent us on our way, no charge. It's so hard to find honest people that aren't eager to nickel and dime you. My only criticism is that they offered unrealistic time frames for the work to be complete, so I kept having false hope that it would be done at various points along the way. Had to return 4 times. Had to wait two weeks for a $12 cable to be delivered because after having paid $250 to replace a screen that wasn't cracked, it was still flickering two days later. Then he said it was the cable. Why not check the cable in the first! Really? Joshua (Midway/Beltline) was the tech who didn't do a thorough job in the first place. He BROKE the frame of my screen. Took it to the Frankford location and was told I 'would have to pay to have the damaged part replaced! Really? So he literally glued it shut which means that if it ever needs repair again, it has to be pried off and replaced! Go somewhere else that does a thorough job, and doesn't expect you to pay for their mistakes. Nightmare! 3 months to get it nearly right with a glued on casing! SMDH read more
