I told him my issues and he spent at least 10-15 minutes listening to me and was sure that he could help me. (I was locked out of One Drive with years of files and photos potentially lost forever, I thought I had been hacked with ransomware and was ready to trash my desk top and laptops based on what the other IT guy had told me!). I showed them several issues that had occurred simultaneously, so I didn't know how it was all tied together or which happened first. They were able to retrieve my email, found a copy of my One Drive and helped me set up a new One Drive Account that was an exact duplicate of what I had lost!! Initially, the dweebs at Geek Squad came to mind - but I've used them before and I have never been satisfied with the level of support or the response-time it takes to get someone to commit to helping me by a specified time. To me, the measure of a service provider is the turnaround time. I didn't have 5 days to wait, let alone 48 hours. So I nixed the Geek Squad and took to a local search on the Internet to see if I might find a genius who could nurse my laptop back to life and retrieve my docs. I located a local firm, Element 26, and sent an email inquiry highlighting my problem. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email and a call from Element26 within a few hours of my initial message. By the next day, my computer was operating once more. The gentleman was able to quickly diagnose the issues with my computer and went to work to fix my machine. Amongst the things he did was help partition the computer, eliminate some of the 'clutter' and things that were bugging my operating system that caused the system to crash and/or lock-up. I consider myself fairly advanced with computers, but whatever he did was more behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood-of-the-car-esque. My computer hasn't had a bit of problem since, but if it should, I'm going to speed dial Element 26. Definitely go to them if you're in need of computer support and you don't want to advertise to the world that you've got Geeks on-site who drive white-and-orange VW beetles. And if you're wondering - their guys looks like normal dudes with a healthy skin color who doesn't stay indoors all day to play World of Warcraft and computer games. Took a computer in for repair. After I diagnosed for ram and hard drive issues myself…read more(electronics/computer degree). I decided to have it professionally diagnosed to see if it was motherboard or something major that I did not have the equipment to test myself. She saw the computer when I brought it in, but failed to tell she me she couldn't truly diagnose it because she also didn't have the parts. Still charged me even though she had no real answer of what was wrong with it. She did the same thing I did but claimed it took her an hour and a half. It took me 30 minutes to do what she did and I don't do it for a living. To make matter worse I bring the computer home and turn it on and its doing something completely different than when I took it to her. I called and she claims that was what it was doing when I brought it in. Not true! I tested it before I took it to her and the hard drive was spinning, She even told me on the phone that she was able to get it to completely boot up for short periods at a time before it would turn off. Now the computer wont even stay turned on at all which was never the issue. Do NOT waste your money at this place.

BACK UP EVERYTHING half the computers I've taken here came back with the hard drives wiped clean. The other half got lost & he doesn't seem motivated to do anything about that. 2. Call before visiting. some shops would call you if there's been a delay. Most will call or email when the work is done. That's not Jimmy's style, so if he told you it would be ready last week, save yourself a trip by calling to make sure. 3. don't bring the charging cable. he's got plenty that will work with most devices & will probably lose yours anyway. 4. be patient James doesn't have a great short term memory & may ask several times what your name is & what brand your computer was & what he was doing to it. maybe put the important info on a notecard affixed to the device. large print. 5. inspect the device before leaving with it. did he put all the screws back in? does it boot up? this could save you a trip or two. 6. Try it yourself first. there are probably a few videos online that explain what you need done. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF! you can do hard things well. if you get stuck or don't have the time, Jimmy's got you. 7. make your device unique Jimmy's got a dozen stacks of silver & black laptops & tablets. put stickers on yours or paint a corner with nail polish. bring it in a neon green box or something.
