The Theodore is a great spot to grab a drink. Open concept with lots of craft beer, wine and underberg bitters. Amanda was our cocktail waitress, full of good vibes and sunshine. Love this place!

This place was fun! The decor was Theodore Roosevelt themed and really cool. Very spacious, lots of seating. Came by on a Saturday around 2pm. Lots of beer on tap. What we did try was delicious. They also offer wine and beer to go. The staff was also very friendly.

You can purchase beer cans to go or sit in and enjoy something on their menu. We did both. Sat on the patio and relaxed. The French Toast stout was tasty but heavy. Coconut stout to purchase was very good! Lots of seating, lounge seating, bar seating, and patio seating. Dog friendly.

We came by The Theodore by on our way to a concert. We decided to stop by for a drink. This was my first time here at this place on Roosevelt Row. In fact I hadn't been on Roosevelt Row in quite a while. The Theodore has outdoor seating as well and I am pretty sure it can accommodate a big crowd on a busy evening. Has plenty of seating inside and I noticed it has a lounge seating area too. Has a big tv screen to watch sports for the sports fan. The servers are very sociable with their customers as well as helpful to make your stay a good one. I would recommend a visit here if you are in the area. Parking is a bit challenging but you can find parking. The Light Rail does have a station on Central Avenue and Roosevelt Street, if you would rather not drive here. I'm sure a lot of the locals come here to cool off on a warm day.

We visit this place every time we are in Phoenix. On our most recent visit we came down for Arizona Craft Beer Week and the Arizona Strong Beer Festival. We made time to come here twice! It's dark and comfy inside with a bar area and a Lou he area with couches. There is also an outside patio area that sometimes has food trucks. The selection of beer on tap and beer in bottles and cans is always fantastic (and you can take it to go too)! The bartenders are knowledgeable about the products they pour and the service is always stellar.

I had had a great time up the street when I was directed to come to the address to find The Theodore. Not only is the bar eponymous which of course, I'm biased but picture a more upscale taproom, not only in the potables; they have wines and meads/ciders there as well but I sat in the little cubby area with the leather couch and it was nice to be able to plop down with a beer and spread out. I had had a few local beers but the amount that they had here was impressive. The non-local beers though were also pretty impressive; there has been a push with craft beers and sometimes you can tell which ones will be there. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection here. I brought my dog in and the bartender said it was dog friendly since they don't serve food and I could put him on the floor. He was just as friendly and helpful when it came to checking out local beers, like I said a lot of breweries I hadn't really heard of and it's very easy for staff to look down on you or condescend. He didn't and when it came time for me to pick up some local cans he got out from around the bar and walked me through their cooler selection. Bully for you, Theodore!

I've been coming to this place since it opened. It's such a welcome addition to Roosevelt Row. The bartenders are so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable if you need a suggestion. They have a lot of taps for a variety of options and the environment inside is so chill that anyone can slip in and enjoy a good time. They also allow our 4-legged dog friends. Trivia night is so much fun and they usually bring isn delicious food trucks to complement the drink options. This is one of the best hang-out places downtown!

For the past year, The Theodore has been such a safe, comfortable, and consistently good bar that it's the only place I had been a regular. They were so cautious, in fact, they just *now* relaxed their restrictions, and might have been the last on Roosevelt to do so! What keeps me coming back is the best beer selection on the block. It is virtually nothing but microbrews, with some guest appearances from various mead, wine, hard seltzer, and sake projects. The curation of their product is always sure to include small, local booze. Think Tombstone Brewing. Or Superstition Meadery. Or any brewery in Middle-of-Nowhere, AZ, and it will have found its way here. Although it doesn't have a kitchen, you can always order delivery from local pizzerias Hot Daisy or Il Bosco. On weekends, they tend to have guest food trucks, and those are solid options as well. What ties it all together is the exceptional customer service, led by Ray, the knowledgeable dude usually serving me on the nights I show up. I can bring friends here who know next to nothing about beer, and he'll find something that makes them happy. Friends don't let friends drink bad booze, and at The Theodore, you'll enjoy some of the best in AZ!

As a big fan of the man himself, TR, I had The Theodore on my list for awhile. I ended up going twice within the month. The first time was after a date night at Rough Rider (the best date night spot for all TR fans!) and then the second time was after a meeting downtown on a Friday. All told, I am baffled that coming here on both a Saturday night (which happened to be First Saturday, a lively night in this district) and a Friday afternoon, I was one of only 3-4 other patrons in the place. I have no idea how this place stays in business, to be honest. But at the same time, I kind of liked the intimacy and quietness of the patio where you could tell (just a short distance off) that rowdiness was ensuing. Both times I came here, I ordered off the wall menu, only the be reminded after taking the first sip that both beers are from AZ Wilderness, diagonally across the street (highly recommend!). I felt like it would have made more sense to just go across the street to get the beer and be offered other beers that I know I already like (with a much better atmosphere). Bartenders here are "meh." On my second time here, I stood there for quite a while where one of the bartenders chatted away with a regular. All told, I may give it one more chance, but like I said, I personally would much rather go to AZ Wilderness or Pedal Haus, both very close by.

This is my at-least-once-a-month spot for catching up with friends, popping in solo, or grabbing a "just one drink" that may or may not turn into two. The beer selection is massive, borderline intimidating, and the wine list rotates often, which I love. Pro tip: don't play beer roulette unless you enjoy surprises that might hurt your feelings. Instead, tell the bartender what you like and they'll work their magic, usually with a taste so you don't commit to something you regret. As a wine drinker, I especially appreciate when they suggest something I wouldn't normally order and absolutely nail it. The vibe is casual but a sort of kind of sexy (weird). The dim lighting, great energy, and zero pressure might be it. Bar seating up front, games if you're feeling social, and high tables in the back for groups or communal mingling. It's the kind of place where you can settle in... or pop in, pop out, and still feel satisfied without spending your rent money. They have small bites like grilled cheese and occasional cheese plates, but let's be honest, this is not a food destination, and that's perfectly fine. My beer-loving friends can happily sample half the menu while I sip a perfectly chilled Sauvignon Blanc and judge none of it. And finally, the real MVPs: the bartenders. Always friendly, always helpful, always down to chat, especially if you're there solo (hi, it's me again!). They'll listen to you ramble, offer great suggestions, and somehow make you feel like a regular even if you're just stopping in briefly. Reliable, fun, unpretentious, and consistently solid. The Whining Pig is a downtown staple for a reason.

I remember touring the administrative offices, the dining hall, the classrooms, the residence halls, and other random buildings, but the most memorable stop was The Pub, which was rooted in much Thunderbird tradition. Now, years later with a new building in place at ASU, I was delighted to learn that The Pub still exists but in a new space (on the fifth floor). I recently stopped by to see what it looked like and try one of their dishes. In the spirit of Thunderbird, at The Pub, it is said that "global flavors and local charm come together to create an unforgettable dining experience." This is a great place for a meal with co-workers, hosting a gathering for a special celebration, or having a low-key meal. I took a book and gave it a try on my own. The sides include chicken wings, chicken tenders, hummus snack plate, or various ways to prepare fries. They have soup, salad, flatbread, entree bowls, and many burgers and sandwiches. They also have all sorts of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It was national root beer float day (or something of the sort), so every burger came with a free root beer float. I jumped at that and got the Thunderbird Pub Burger (seasoned 6oz all beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, American Cheese, signature pub sauce Brioche Bun, served with Crispy French Fries). It was delicious!! In fact, it was better than delicious when paired with a free root beer float! They have regular hours of noon to 5 PM on weekdays (though they are open until 9 PM on Thursdays. They do have seasonal hours when they close early or entirely when classes are not in session. Happy hour specials are from 3-5 PM daily. While there are many great places to eat at ASU, I certainly recommend The Pub at Thunderbird.

My favorite was the Golden and Cada Rana. The other options were good but those I wanted more! I don't usually like IPAs or sweet beers and these had a perfect refreshing flavor, not too dark not too light. I also tried the mango Rana.
