Enjoyed brunch with our son at The Saint Claire in Montclair. Grand decor with cathedral ceilings and creative art work. There is an upstairs dining area inspired by the William Shakespeare Romeo & Juliet 1996 movie with Claire Danes & Leo DeCaprio! Magnificent Renaissance mural! Love the coasters featuring the actors! Compliments to the Chef LEIA GACCIONE! Brunch was delicious and beautifully presented! Loved my SIMON'S SALTED ESPRESSO FAUXTINI! Highly recommend! Metered street parking!

I'm not usually a brunch person, but The Saint Clair has completely changed that! This adorable spot is conveniently located near the parking lot, making it super easy to get to. The staff is fantastic, friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, but the real star is the food. To start, we shared the Buttermilk Biscuit, Duck Fat Tater Tots, and the Beet & Citrus Salad. That salad... I'm still dreaming about it. The biscuit was equally delicious and will definitely be my go to from now on. The tater tots, while okay, lacked a bit of flavor. It did pair as well with the salad, but lone was lacking something. For the entree, I had the Breakfast Sandwich and also got a taste of the Brunch Tostada. Both were incredible, but the sandwich stole the show for me. The biscuit is absolutely top tier, and the chorizo sausage patty was perfectly spiced not too hot, just the right kick and paired beautifully with the rest of the sandwich. And the lattes? Simply amazing. Honestly, I'm in love with this place and can't wait to go back. The Saint Clair has officially converted me into a brunch fan and already have the date to go back.

Lovely lunch spot! Came here with a group of ladies and we really liked the food here. The burger and St Clair salad were both tasty! We had the cornbread to share. BYOB! This would be a great date spot. If you can't find street parking there's a lot that's right behind the restaurant. The service was slow. It was pretty empty when it opened but got super busy around 12-1230pm on a Friday.

Brought to you by Chef-Owner Leia Gaccione -- veteran of Bobby Flay's restaurants as well as Iron Chef America and Top Chef -- The Saint Clair is a masterclass in mindful, locally sourced cuisine. Following the success of Morristown's South+Pine, Gaccione has brought an elevated BYOB experience to Montclair that pairs an innovative seasonal menu with a sophisticated, gothic-inspired ambiance. After a movie at The Claridge on a recent Saturday night, we stopped into The Saint Clair for dinner without a reservation. Even though the place was packed and buzzing, the hostess was super accommodating and managed to find us two seats at the bar right away. The first floor feels decidedly upscale. The signature vaulted arches are reminiscent of a gothic cathedral -- a stunning design choice, though one that occasionally amplifies the room's chatter rather than dampening it. Sitting at the small bar offers a front-row seat to the kitchen "pass," where you can watch the culinary team create and plate their creations. We started by sharing the Fall Harvest Salad ($18). It's a generous and very shareable portion of arugula, delicata squash, salumi, Brussels sprouts, and pumpkin seeds topped with just a kiss of light vinaigrette dressing. While the ingredients were obviously very fresh and seasonal flavors were bright, the raw, sliced Brussels sprouts felt slightly out of place against the other textures and tastes. The star of the show, however, was the Dry-Aged Beef Burger ($29), served on a pretzel roll and topped with sautéed Vidalia onions and truffle aioli. The half-pound patty was perfectly cooked and easily one of the best burgers we've had in years. It is worth every penny. So, why not five stars? While the food is stellar, the ambiance is unique in the area, and the staff is friendly, the kitchen struggled with the Saturday night volume. From our vantage point perched just outside the kitchen, we saw servers hovering at the pass waiting for long-delayed plates. It took nearly an hour for our burgers to arrive, and the table turnover seemed to stall. Hopefully, The Saint Clair is able to address these issues as the staff develops more experience. Five stars for the food and the ambiance, but deducting a star for the service issues. PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home or stop at Amanti Vino right next door to enjoy with your meal. The Saint Clair is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Cash is king. The Saint Clair has added a 3% surcharge for using credit cards to pay for your meal. PRO TIP #3: Download the ParkMobile app. You can pay for parking in Montclair via the ParkMobile app whether you park in the town's garages or metered on-street parking. If you can't find a spot on the street, parking in the Montclair Parking Utility's Crescent Deck (located at 13 The Crescent), which is located just across the street from the back entrance of The Saint Clair, is $2/hour.

Was dying to come here and finally did. The food was ok just ok for the price of our bill. Definitely the most expensive spot we've eaten in the area and there was no value attached. Getting water was a challenge as well To be fair the food was ok but again not at their price point. Very overrated

Went to the Saint Clair for lunch on a Saturday. It's a great spot. Location, atmosphere and staff are wonderful. The burger makes my list of top 5 best burgers ever.

09/30/2025 I believe Lea Gascone's new restaurant is going to be a hit. The decor is really cool and the service was very attentive. We've enjoyed Lea's South & Pine restaurant in Morristown several times and always enjoyed our meals, so we had to give Saint Claire a try. My wife had the roast chicken (w/ Schmaltz croutons, Frisee, pine nuts, golden raisons and sherry jus. The chicken was tender and juicy, something not often found when ordering chicken. The frisee was a tasty and provided a nice light alternative to potatoes or rice. I had the (medium rare) Dry Aged burger (five hour Vidalia onion, Cooper's sharp cheddar and truffle aioli.) Done perfectly and so very tasty with the '5 hour onions'... SOO good! We also tried the crispy kale, which was a little disappointing since it wasn't that crispy, but not enough to keep us from visiting Lea again. It is a BYO, so come prepared!

Though a new place in the area (having opened summer of 2025), I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. The food provides a flavorful twist on American cuisine like cornbread and tater tots. Though appetizers are a bit on smaller side, the entrees are filling. Place is BYOB. We were seated on the first floor near the main entrance and though it wasn't too loud or busy on a weeknight, the acoustics were not ideal for a large group of 7 people. There is an upstairs that seemed to be quieter and more dim. Staff were great and attentive, topping us off as needed with water and our wine. FYI, tip is already included for large parties.

We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and had the most wonderful experience! We had a reservation and were seated right away -- the process was so easy. The hostess and our waitress were absolutely lovely, and even the manager stopped by mid-meal to make sure we were happy and well taken care of. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with thoughtful details, great lighting, and a warm ambience that made the evening feel special. It's also BYOB (with a wine shop conveniently right next door), but I have to call out the incredible mocktails too. I had the Caroline Cooler and it was delicious -- refreshing and creative. For food, my sister and I started with the Saint Clair salad, which was outstanding. The grilled figs made it unforgettable. For entrées, I had the roasted chicken and my sister had the salmon -- both were beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The menu also featured a lovely array of desserts. We were too full to indulge this time, but we'll definitely be back to try them (along with the espresso bar, which looked fantastic with so many options and flavors). Every part of the evening felt intentional and welcoming -- from the service to the atmosphere to the food itself. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return!

Amazing place! We had another place, chashni, refuse to honor our reservation because the hostess messed up the scheduling. This place took our group and provided EXCELLENT service! Great food, great prices, beautiful interior, and the waitress was so funny and friendly. J highly recommend you come here - I will be sure to visit again!

I finally got the chance to try this place and I'm so happy I did. A contemporary American restaurant was exactly that what I was looking for and exactly what I got. The interior space is very, very nice. There is a lot of seating and there are two floors in the restaurant. I sat on the upper floor where it was spacious. So for the meal to start off, I got the Caesar salad. I thought that the salad was OK not bad but definitely nothing exceptional I also got as an appetizer the cornbread, which was better. It wasn't overly sweet and the sweet-and-sour mix complimented each other very well very good cornbread for my entrée I got a burger, which was a very good burger. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here. I'm not too sure whether I would go back because I don't think that there's anything that I ordered that was exceptional. However, it was very good and I would recommend it to someone else.

This restaurant is beautiful and th service is great. The food was very good as well. Parking is very tough in this area. And huge plus that it's byob wi the a liquor store right next door. Fun date night spot

Very cozy renovated dining room, we had an Excellent brunch! We started with the avocado toast, served with a very interesting tofu ricotta served on crispy eggplant and a delicious cherry basil pesto. I had the monk fish sandwich, served with lettuce and a delicious dill sauce. Unfortunately the Ciabatta roll it was served on was too over-toasted to eat as a sandwich. The crab hash and poached eggs were excellent!

I would've liked if it had more pieces of grapefruit, as two was very little, and I also would've liked if they had a stronger vinaigrette to pair it with. My boyfriend, on the other hand, order the pancakes and make them chocolate chip chips, and I have to say those are by far the best pancakes I've ever had. It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions.
