This is one of our favorite spots in the area. The food and cocktails are always really great, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. We recently threw a birthday party for my wife here and the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating, and our friends who had not yet been to the restaurant all loved it. This place is an amazing! I hit up their Oktoberfest event--check out that Turkey leg! For about $50, you get a four hours of, all-you-can-eat-and-drink, great bang for your buck. Totally worth it. Picture this: a group of gals go to a heart walk and you want to grab some brunch this is the spot. From the ambiance to the food I loved this place immediately. We did go when they first opened and didn't have a reservation but they were still fast making sure we were seated and had menus. I tried the pumpkin spice espresso martini and paired it with the Italian eggs Benny. *chefs kiss* I did sample the pecan pie espresso martini and like it better because it was sweeter so I'd recommend the pumpkin spice if you're absolutely obsessed with pumpkin. The eggs Benedict was delicious and everyone at the table loved the potatoes that came with the meal. Sign me up for anything prosciutto related. We finished off with the apple donut dessert and I was not disappointed however, it didn't need the apple pie component. Yesterday's visit was not my first. I've ordered from here several times to go and the food has been great and have eaten here in the past for lunch dinner and brunch and every meal has always been great with amazingly friendly service Four of us stopped in yesterday for brunch before they were even ready for service, the bartender could not have been more accommodating or friendly. The bartenders appeared to know a number of the patrons. The restaurant tables were also doing a decent business, including dining for some families with kids. I decided to try their house version of Buffalo wings with a maple syrup sauce. Good. My Tito's martini was good, though I thought just $2 bucks off for Happy Hour wasn't such a deal. So I was in New Jersey for my 50th high school reunion and surprised to discover that the Dodgers (v. Mets) game was not on the TV in my hotel room. The nice folks downstairs suggested the Avenue Bistro as it was close and good and boy were they right! Asked for local beer and enjoyed the Hoboken City, one of the best burgers I've ever had, and homemade potato chips I could have eaten all night. Oh, I did eat them all night. The bartenders are professional and attentive and I bet if I went there a couple of times, they'd know my name and what I drink. You're very lucky, Verona. Came in last week with my girlfriend, a retired doctor from Paris, France to celebrate our one year anniversary of meeting in your restaurant. The young lady with long hair, and I believe a baseball cap who took care of us can vouch what wonderful people we were and how much she laughed with us We came back on Sunday again to celebrate and the high tops that I always sit in were taken. You had parties all over the place on Sunday so we sat at the two top up by the front window to the left of the bar. A young man came over with the menus. We had two plates put on our table And we ordered when the appetizer was brought to the table. I had to go chase the girl down that brought the appetizer and ask her for napkins, forks, and knives because we had no implements put on our table. We ate the meatball appetizer on the two little plates were covered with sauce when we were done. So we needed two clean plates to eat the Cauliflower Tuscany pizza. The Dr is gluten-free and allergic to gluten. We couldn't find that young man that was the server we looked around we couldn't find him and all your servers were in the back with the baby shower so I called the restaurant hoping somebody would answer and would bring over two fresh plates so we could eat the pizza while it was still warm. When that young man found out that I was calling the restaurant, he badmouthed me and said what's the matter with me all you had to do is find me and I'd bring your plates so you don't have to call the restaurant. I told him we were looking for a minute and we couldn't find him or anybody else so I called the restaurant. He then told everybody at the bar can you imagine this guy calling the restaurant for two plates? Imagine this guy. I called him over and said young man I've been coming here for 25 years. I knew Benny when he was washing tables. I had my Wedding here. And then told him that the cauliflower pizza wasn't cut, and we couldn't pull it apart or cut it with the butter knives that were given to us .... his comment was I didn't make it for you. I just served it to you. I said you're a real punk get the hell out of here and keep away from my table. We couldn't eat the cauliflower Tuscany pizza because we couldn't pull it apart and it had just gotten twisted up on the plate so we left it. From that young man coming back to my table asking me how old I am and why am I so immature some bald headed dude at the bar with two beer drinking witches started calling me all kinds of names and told Dr. Boccara to run far away from me. The bald headed guy was telling me I was a loser and a scumbag and a dirtbag and I told him to go fuck off. In the 25 years I've come to your restaurant I've never ever had anything like this happen ever. You can check with Benny. I've never had a problem or words with anybody in your restaurant ever, but that young dude that was serving us on Sunday should be fired immediately. He's arrogant and he's an asshole and at this point I don't know if I could come back to your restaurant if he's still working there. It almost became a bar brawl. My girlfriend from Paris is retired, internal medicine, doctor, and psychiatrist and well known in Paris for her skills. It was embarrassing for her to see this yelling match and the worst of Americans. We got up. I left the cash for the Bill and we walked out and left that pizza on the table all ripped apart and messed up. It's supposed to be a beautiful afternoon celebrating our year anniversary, but it turned into something I've never experienced in my life. My wife Ronnie died in March 2023 after six brain surgeries and I was a caretaker for seven years to a paralyzed woman that couldn't speak. People who know me know that I'm a really good person and I'd do anything to help anybody. I changed diapers I clean poop from her. I did everything I had to do to take care of my wife. Only tiki bar near me is almost an hour away. So when I saw a post of one 15 minutes away, I was on it!! Entered on Bloomfield Ave. The front bar has open windows great for people watching. I would have stop there but I needed to experience the tiki vibe. I sat at a high top near the bar. Tiki cocktail list on the table has fun names. No tiki food specials but their lots of items on the menu. Get the mussels, the broth is good and you get large pieces of bread to soak it up. Skip the hot chicken sandwich. Fun girls day out with my daughter. Darling place, close to where we live. Spontaneous lunch outing, which rarely happens due to work schedules etc. Always look forward to time with my daughter so I choose wisely where I'm going to spend my time and money to make it worth my while. This is the second time I've been to this place the first time was in 2018 for brunch and then time got away from us and then Covid so I feel honored that I was able to finally get back in and check it out. It is a full bar not a BYOB, however the cocktails were great. The service was great we had a lovely waitress who was super attentive and very friendly. Should a great T-shirt on I want to think it's a 'peace', fun vintage moment. The nachos were simply good and just OK. In all fairness I should try a meal and give it another go. I wish they would be more specific but the wings are gluten free but their BBQ is not gluten free. Depends what you get on them. The chips are also fried in the same oil as gluten so technically they are not gluten free. For anyone with specific allergies please make sure you ask questions!! Kids menu had solid options; sampled the chocolate chip pancakes and cheesy scrambled eggs and both were tasty (best breakfast potatoes I've had in long time!). Adults had burrata, French toast , and lobster eggs Benedict; all very good. Seated us 10 minutes before our reservation; from the time we were seated to the time we got the bill we were there for 45 minutes (perfect with two young kids). Stopped in at Avenue Bistro before a show at Montclair State University. We did reservations via Open Table with it being a Saturday request for 6pm. The section where we sat in the extended side of the restaurant was quieter than the main dining area, which we liked. You do notice scratches, scuffs and paint chipping on the walls. It needs a little love. The food was good. I enjoyed the Hot Sauce Fried Chicken sandwich and friends liked the Chicken Milanese. The cocktails were just ok, somewhat weak with the alcohol. They have a great menu with many options- their "knuckle sandwiches" is what peaked my interest We made a reservation online before going on a Saturday. definitely recommend making one because this place is popular and when we were leaving (~7pm) there was a wait. I ordered the steak sandwich (forget the exact name!) and my boyfriend got a flat bread. We shared the calamari as an appetizer, which I don't really recommend, as it was just "ok." The flatbread was a lot smaller then I anticipated, so take note that it might not fill you up if that's all you get. I think we came on an off night, because service was meh. The staff just seemed overwhelmed. When my food got to the table, it wasn't really hot and you could tell the fries were sitting out. However, I'm not willing to throw in the towel for Avenue, and I'll give it another try. read more

Avenue Bistro is a beautiful restaurant with chic decor and a nice vibe. It has a trendy feel and a gorgeous oversized bar. There were a few key moments that made this an average dining experience vs. a great one. Firstly, the music was insanely loud. The songs were popular and I loved their selection, but I could not hear a single thing anyone said at my table. I felt like I was screaming the entire meal. Second, our service was extremely slow, and we did not receive much attention. Our table ordered burrata and wings to start, which came out within 20 minutes. From there, it took a full hour for our entrees - we only ordered a salad, veggie wrap, chicken sandwich and steak sandwich. We couldn't understand the wait. It seemed like our waiter tried to avoid making eye contact/checking in with our table, because he knew the wait was insanely long and didn't know how to address it. I would've appreciated the update. Once we finally received our meals, they were absolutely delicious. Everything was superb. My boyfriend did ask for honey mustard and our server never brought it out - little misses like this made the experience so so. It's a shame because the food is excellent. Came here a few years back for New Year's Day brunch. Loved it back then and loved it even more so last night. Went for the wings and Yuengling special. The wings were amazing we ordered another order right away when we finished our first order of maple buffalo wings they were super delicious crunchy sweet and hot. My husband ordered the drunken chicken sandwich and thought it was a very good my son ordered the chicken fingers and fries for kids and it was a huge portion. I was so stuffed that I ordered a book all of the campfire chili with cornbread I almost couldn't finish it. The waiter told me that that would definitely not stuff me up but boy did it! Stopped by at the Avenue Bistro for a quick lunch with some friends and had a pretty great time. I usually just come here to sit by the window at the bar and have more than a few drinks but today we decided to sit at a table in the rear patio area. As far as ambiance is concerned, the bar in the back along w the seating area looks pretty nice. Dogs are allowed to come sit with you and they even have a separate menu for them. A doggy menu is something I actually haven't seen before but it was nice. My friends dog didn't even chew her food she ate it so fast. Drinks were on point. I got a couple spiced passion fruit mojitos. Not the strongest drink in the world but it had all the right flavors (coming from a former bartender). I woulda had more if I didn't have to work that night. My girl ordered the burrata which she demolished without chewing just like the dog. She also had the shrimp tacos... she doesn't usually finish her food but she did today so I'd say it was pretty good. I had a NY Strip cooked medium rare. It came out more medium well but it was seasoned decently. I finished it without a problem. My friend had a brisket Mac n cheese which looked and smelled amazing. He killed that. My other friend had Buffalo wings which she didn't like cuz she's a weirdo. I got to take them home which is a win... I can vouch that they were good. She then ordered the Buffalo flatbread in place of the wings (yes I know she's not that smart). At that point I don't think she was even hungry so she didn't even try it. I HIGHLY recommend for planning any social events. The service was excellent, and Julia couldn't have been more helpful in giving me top-notch food and bar service recommendations. She was sincerely concerned that we were completely happy with every aspect of planning this party. The private 40-year-old birthday event was held in the covered outdoor area. I went to decorate earlier in the day, and Julia said she would handle this. When we arrived, the decorations were arranged so much nicer than I could have done! We had our own dedicated bartender, Pete, and he was amazing. The pricing was SO reasonable. They allowed us to bring our own dessert, and served this with no additional cost. Unfortunately an employee ruined the experience for me. The manager working on 12/27. My co workers and I made a reservation spent over $300 buying rounds of drinks. We weren't told of any "2 1/2 hour stay" which is ridiculous because it's not for COVID purposes. The manager came over and told us "we need to leave" . They have a 6:30 reservation "they couldn't fit anywhere" and she came over to us at 6:25 and gave such an attitude after we spent so much money and just got another round of drinks. With no prior notice of any reservation coming in or any limit. She then ran away saying "I'll figure it out, pretend I didn't come over" like we inconvenienced her.
