This restaurant was on my wishlist and so glad I chose to visit here with my girlfriends! All the staffs were very kind and welcoming. Loved the atmosphere and they have roof top even though you cannot see the city view because it was blocked. We ordered chicken, duck and beef dish and we were all very satisfied. Few suggestions. Shrimp cocktails' sauce tasted like ketchup. Lowering sweetness and having some kick will add more flavor. I had Tri Tip Steak and I loved the sweet sauce but having some spice or sour will help to balance. I had Prewitt salad and it barely had any dressing on it. But it was very fresh. Overall, amazing service, unique interior design and fresh and excellent ingredients and all my fiends and myself loved today's seasonal sangria with pineapple and grapefruit. I honestly have no idea if the food is any good here, as we left after sitting at our table for 20 minutes without even being offered a glass of water. There were only about 4-5 other tables there, ranging from a few couples to one group of six. We saw no less than three servers chilling out chatting but never actually spoke to anyone after we were seated. I'm super willing to accommodate the current environment with labor shortages, etc. but I'm not interested in cooling my heels, especially for the price tag of a place like this. read more

Oh my Gosh! Our daughters took us to this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day late & Father's Day early! What a fabulous restaurant!!! It's a five star restaurant in Plainfield, IN. Such a lovely small town Americana surprise! Curly haired Brittany, our waitress was the perfect charming professional! She helped us with our choices and kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying everything. The cocktails were incredibly creative and delicious. I ordered the daily sangria, Milena; the Prewitt Old Fashion; Bek, the El Diablo and Mike one of the many craft beers on tap. We were all super pleased with our choices!!! We all devoured their crispy burrata appetizer. Milena and I ordered two different entrees to split; myself the lamp meatball pappardelle, she, the beef short rib, Bek ordered the cauliflower steak, Mike, the pork porterhouse. We were all incredibly delighted with the presentation, aromas and taste! I asked Brittany for the menu again to photograph because we couldn't exactly identify all the savory variety on our plates. Mike isn't usually a Brussels sprouts fan, but he loved them too! By the time we all finished there wasn't too much left on our plates. I really appreciated that they served a reasonable portion size. This old theater has ambiance on steroids! Whoever the interior designers were knocked it out of the park for this Art Deco space...If you want to come for music and drinks, they have a that on the weekends. Their brunch sounds delicious too! We showed up at 5 pm for our reservation and had to wait for 25 min for the wait staff to get done with their meeting for the night. We finally got sat and took another 30 for drinks to get to the table. Our food finally came out about 6:30 (1hour and 30 min after we got there!) The special occasion was for my son's 16th birthday so we decided to order ice cream for the occasion. At 7:25, still no ice cream so I asked our waiter to take the charge off the bill since we have been waiting 30 min. for a bowl of ice cream. The waiter apologized, but thought we already ate the ice cream since it was not at our table!!!! So I went to the manager to see where the ice cream was and he response was "I canceled since you did not want to pay for it----Seriously!!!!! Considered this place multiple times. Made a Thursday evening reservation for early Valentine. Steak was over cooked and shrimp was cold. Did a recook on the steak. Wife was completely done and ran to the car before my steak came back. Completely ruined the experience of the meal. They weren't even that busy. Delicious with an amazing environment. We had several different apps - the corn dogs, oysters, shrimp cocktail and meatballs and everything was beyond perfect. Luckily we were able to taste some of the chefs truffle butter - soooo good! We will def be back! Tonight we attended the first wine dinner at the Prewitt. The dinner was held at the upstairs dinning area which was perfect. It's a very nice space and away from the main dinning area. The atmosphere was nice. The downside again was the food. The first and second course was very good. The main course was duck, which was cold and the fat was not rendered out enough. The dessert was a panna cotta which was runny and not firm as it should be. The Prewitt is headed in the right direction. The service was very good. The food just needs to be a little better. read more

We went to the Prewitt on their opening weekend. We had a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm. We arrived at 6:25 and were seated promptly at 6:27. We were seated in the upstairs lounge area which allowed us to see the large rooftop deck area that will be excellent when warmer weather comes back around in the spring. All of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and courteous. We were well attended to throughout our meal. Our group shared some apps, each ordered an entrée, and finished by sharing some desserts. I expected on opening weekend that the food would come out slow or some of it might have been off in some way, but that wasn't the case. The food was amazing! We are really happy that the owners of the Prewitt and The Town of Plainfield were able to bring this space back to life! I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Finally went to The Prewitt for a date night. We will definitely be back ! The atmosphere is a comfortable, but more upscale than any other place in Plainfield. Food did not disappoint. I had the roast chicken, my husband got the burger. We both had salads and enjoyed the interesting twist of the fried chickpeas as croutons. Server was very knowledgeable. I hope this restaurant is supported by Hendricks county community, it's one of a kind. read more

The Prewitt just opened this week so we tried brunch today. Lots of positives. I think the renovation of the old theater is awesome. Very comfortable main floor and cool bar area up one level. I didn't make it to the 2nd floor but pics posted by others look great. This is a more upscale menu and has some nice choices. Some of our party ordered the stuffed french toast and one ordered the waffle & lox. I went with the Chef special omelet which had feta,kale,tomatoes and shrimp. I'm not a big egg fan but this omelet was well cooked and fluffy with lots of filling. Everyone enjoyed their meal though the waffle & lox was what we had food envy over. Next time. One thing to keep in mind is that these brunch portions are in the smaller side. My omelet was the loneliest looking thing. Maybe add a biscuit or some fruit? Our server Becky (?) was friendly and willing to answer our questions and make recommendations. Will I go back? Yes. Maybe for dinner next time. We're delighted to finally have an excellent restaurant to anchor downtown Plainfield. A must do for west siders and it's worthy of a destination trip from other parts of Indy. The owners have done a Magnificent job restoring and repurposing this fantastic landmark. Food is excellent and prepared with attention to detail. Service is superior. Entrees are reasonably priced for a higher end restaurant, as are the cocktails. The different derivatives of the Old Fashioned are unique and tasty. We love the bar upstairs, which is a step back in time to a speakeasy prohibition. Love the live music too! The main seating can get a little loud, but everything else about the Prewitt offsets this. Finally! Something worthwhile in this area of town. The food, service, and ambiance were exceptional. The short rib egg rolls were out of this world. Incredible menu offerings and truly top notch menu items. We had the short rib and pork entrees and we cleaned the plate on both. Although the rooftop didn't have live music tonight due to a cancellation I will absolutely be back to check out the rooftop. Had the rooftop igloo dining experience, the waitress was fun and seemed a little overwhelmed at times, swordfish was overcooked and very dry, chicken skewer were very over cooked, sirloin frites were supposed to be medium were well done( good and tender though), S'mores for dessert was very good. I wish that I could write about a positive experience. My wife and I stopped for a drink and dinner, but the bartender ignored us. My wife is a retired superior court judge, and I'm a retired airline pilot and Army officer. Perhaps we weren't dressed to the bartender's standard. I certainly understand the employment crisis that all businesses face, but if the bartender had acknowledged us, we would have been mollified. Excellent experience ! We don't make it to Plainfield very often but we were very happy to find this place. Food and drinks were excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was really cool. I had the Ribeye and a side of sweet/bacon carrots that were a special. My wife ordered the short rib and noodles and talked about it the rest of the night. Truly, cannot say enough how enjoyable our experience was. The restaurant was converted from a movie theater and maintained a lot of the traditional aesthetic and brick work that is unique to its time. The bar is beautiful, cozy and well designed to linger for hours. They even have an upstairs area with an outdoor patio, which was our favorite because patios always offer such a unique way to enjoy food and company. We came for brunch and truly loved every dish that we had. Their avocado toast was perfectly balanced with creamy, savory, sweet and salty. The stuffed French toast is made with baguette bread, which is very unique and came with this delicious seasonal berry filling. Cocktails were great and overall the value for the meal was exceptional. Our server was extremely attentive, very helpful with her recommendations and did not steer us wrong. The signature drinks were well thought out, with homemade mixers, and complex flavors. After dinner as we were leaving, we decided to turn back around and head to the lounge for after dinner drinks. Stopped by for lunch with a party of 3 on a slowish Thursday. They were still the "soft opening" phase, I believe grand opening was the following night. The service was attentive and laid back which I prefer. We had the wagyu corn dogs and short rib egg rolls as starters and both did not disappoint. We each had a different sandwich and all 3 were very good and hardy portions. My fellow patron decided on dessert for the entire table even at my disdain. I'm glad he did because the biscuits with homemade apple butter were exceptional! Hats off to The Prewitt for a much needed break from the chain monopoly on US 40. read more

WOW! We have visited here quite frequently. However, the steak that we had on 6/5/2024 was on point! I got the special they had that night, the surf and turf. The fillet was pure perfection.
