We had a great experience last night. The food was wonderful as well as the service. The ambiance was relaxing and they had Top Gun: Maverick playing which was a fun vibe. I would like to try the rooftop dining next time. Not a big deal, but the only feedback I have for improvement is that we noted it was our anniversary on the reservation and one mentioned it while we were there. Not a huge deal, but if you ask for that information to be shared it might be good to acknowledge it when people share it. read more

I had put off going here because I so wanted it to be great and all I was hearing was meh. Well it was okay. Things I liked: atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere-they nailed it! I liked the online reservation process which gave the option of ordering a charcuterie board at a discount and wine to be ready - loved that! The food presentation was nice and the food was good. What I didn't like: our drinks were watered down because the staff left it sitting made on the bar for 10 minutes. Did I mention that there was a full crew and only 2 tables at 7:00pm? They had full length movies playing without closed caption on which is probably why they had signs everywhere stating no more than 2 hours at a table. They would be served better by playing old cartoons, shorts and 3 Stooges the food was good, the desserts were great and the overall service was slow. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but in no hurry to keep things moving. Prices were a bit high and the menu was limited. Each dish had a special spin and it lacked a few basic options or maybe it was just me. I like adventurous food but not everyone does. I had the grilled citrus chicken sandwich and it was delicious. I also had a side salad with the buttermilk basil dressing which was excellent. Parking was easy just behind the building. I gave it 4 stars because it has lots of promise and the food I had was delicious. read more

We went to Prewitt for lunch. It was delicious! Free dessert for birthday. Very happy with food, service was great!

Boy oh boy I hope you come and try their brunch! The Prewitt is an old theater that was made as a restaurant and so you can expect the ambiance it's beautiful. They show old movies all the time (muted) while you eat and it feels great! Service was awesome and we made it after the brunch peak hour so we enjoyed our food a lot! I had their Greek omelet and my boyfriend had the steak and eggs(amazing btw) go try it! You won't regret it! read more

Wonderful place!! Had a girls night out last night and was so impressed with our drinks and service! Our waiter Joseph made the evening that much more memorable! A pricey place but totally worth it. Made a reservation and wanted to sit on rooftop. So we waited at bar and had a drink. The jazz was superb, martinis delightful. I had tomato bisque soup and fried pickles as appetizer.. again the server made our entire dining experience so fun!!!! read more

Went to The Prewitt for their grand opening lunch today. Finally.... a nice, upscale restaurant on the West side! The menu is a nice play on a movie script, given the history of The Prewitt, it's perfect. We started with a "preview" of steak and mushrooms, I had a lovely cocktail, S.B.N.T.S. (sweet but not too sweet) and my husband had a craft beer called White Rascal. For lunch I had the Fall Noodle Bowl and he had the CBR sandwich. Both were delicious. Our only criticisms are that the winter squash in the bowl was a little al dente and my husband would've preferred if the chicken breast had been a little thinner. Otherwise, the flavors were on point! The atmosphere was very welcoming. I like how they kept some of the old movie theater ties. There were three restrooms that I saw on the main floor and one that I saw upstairs. Bonus points for carrying feminine products in the bathroom! We can't wait to return! read more

The wait was excessive considering we had reservations. I can understand if it's busy and the servers communicate and do their best. They didn't even look at us. I had to go get menus myself. The food was meh nothing to write home about, fine but with poor service it brings review down. The drinks were Very expensive also. read more

This restaurant was on my wishlist and so glad I chose to visit here with my girlfriends! All the staffs were very kind and welcoming. Loved the atmosphere and they have roof top even though you cannot see the city view because it was blocked. We ordered chicken, duck and beef dish and we were all very satisfied. Few suggestions. Shrimp cocktails' sauce tasted like ketchup. Lowering sweetness and having some kick will add more flavor. I had Tri Tip Steak and I loved the sweet sauce but having some spice or sour will help to balance. I had Prewitt salad and it barely had any dressing on it. But it was very fresh. Overall, amazing service, unique interior design and fresh and excellent ingredients and all my fiends and myself loved today's seasonal sangria with pineapple and grapefruit. So refreshing! read more

I honestly have no idea if the food is any good here, as we left after sitting at our table for 20 minutes without even being offered a glass of water. There were only about 4-5 other tables there, ranging from a few couples to one group of six. We saw no less than three servers chilling out chatting but never actually spoke to anyone after we were seated. I'm super willing to accommodate the current environment with labor shortages, etc. but I'm not interested in cooling my heels, especially for the price tag of a place like this. read more

Oh my Gosh! Our daughters took us to this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day late & Father's Day early! What a fabulous restaurant!!! It's a five star restaurant in Plainfield, IN. Such a lovely small town Americana surprise! Curly haired Brittany, our waitress was the perfect charming professional! She helped us with our choices and kept checking in to make sure we were enjoying everything. The cocktails were incredibly creative and delicious. I ordered the daily sangria, Milena; the Prewitt Old Fashion; Bek, the El Diablo and Mike one of the many craft beers on tap. We were all super pleased with our choices!!! We all devoured their crispy burrata appetizer. Milena and I ordered two different entrees to split; myself the lamp meatball pappardelle, she, the beef short rib, Bek ordered the cauliflower steak, Mike, the pork porterhouse. We were all incredibly delighted with the presentation, aromas and taste! I asked Brittany for the menu again to photograph because we couldn't exactly identify all the savory variety on our plates. Mike isn't usually a Brussels sprouts fan, but he loved them too! By the time we all finished there wasn't too much left on our plates. I really appreciated that they served a reasonable portion size. This old theater has ambiance on steroids! Whoever the interior designers were knocked it out of the park for this Art Deco space...If you want to come for music and drinks, they have a that on the weekends. Their brunch sounds delicious too! Do yourself a favor and come for lunch or dinner! It's not inexpensive but it's so very worth it! read more

We showed up at 5 pm for our reservation and had to wait for 25 min for the wait staff to get done with their meeting for the night. We finally got sat and took another 30 for drinks to get to the table. Our food finally came out about 6:30 (1hour and 30 min after we got there!) The special occasion was for my son's 16th birthday so we decided to order ice cream for the occasion. At 7:25, still no ice cream so I asked our waiter to take the charge off the bill since we have been waiting 30 min. for a bowl of ice cream. The waiter apologized, but thought we already ate the ice cream since it was not at our table!!!! So I went to the manager to see where the ice cream was and he response was "I canceled since you did not want to pay for it----Seriously!!!!! Worst service ever and the food was sub par-Never coming back. read more

Delicious with an amazing environment. We had several different apps - the corn dogs, oysters, shrimp cocktail and meatballs and everything was beyond perfect. Luckily we were able to taste some of the chefs truffle butter - soooo good! We will def be back! Also, had the most amazing hostess that doubled as our server and continuously checked on us, making sure we were comfortable all evening - thanks Nicole! Cant wait to go back and try the other amazing treats on the menu. YUM! read more

Tonight we attended the first wine dinner at the Prewitt. The dinner was held at the upstairs dinning area which was perfect. It's a very nice space and away from the main dinning area. The atmosphere was nice. The downside again was the food. The first and second course was very good. The main course was duck, which was cold and the fat was not rendered out enough. The dessert was a panna cotta which was runny and not firm as it should be. The Prewitt is headed in the right direction. The service was very good. The food just needs to be a little better. read more

Very nice place, great staff. Beautiful atmosphere. Had cocktails at the bar, they were fantastic.

We went to the Prewitt on their opening weekend. We had a reservation for 4 at 6:30pm. We arrived at 6:25 and were seated promptly at 6:27. We were seated in the upstairs lounge area which allowed us to see the large rooftop deck area that will be excellent when warmer weather comes back around in the spring. All of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and courteous. We were well attended to throughout our meal. Our group shared some apps, each ordered an entrée, and finished by sharing some desserts. I expected on opening weekend that the food would come out slow or some of it might have been off in some way, but that wasn't the case. The food was amazing! We are really happy that the owners of the Prewitt and The Town of Plainfield were able to bring this space back to life! I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Finally went to The Prewitt for a date night. We will definitely be back ! The atmosphere is a comfortable, but more upscale than any other place in Plainfield. Food did not disappoint. I had the roast chicken, my husband got the burger. We both had salads and enjoyed the interesting twist of the fried chickpeas as croutons. Server was very knowledgeable. I hope this restaurant is supported by Hendricks county community, it's one of a kind. read more

The Prewitt just opened this week so we tried brunch today. Lots of positives. I think the renovation of the old theater is awesome. Very comfortable main floor and cool bar area up one level. I didn't make it to the 2nd floor but pics posted by others look great. This is a more upscale menu and has some nice choices. Some of our party ordered the stuffed french toast and one ordered the waffle & lox. I went with the Chef special omelet which had feta, kale, tomatoes and shrimp. I'm not a big egg fan but this omelet was well cooked and fluffy with lots of filling. Everyone enjoyed their meal though the waffle & lox was what we had food envy over. Next time. One thing to keep in mind is that these brunch portions are in the smaller side. My omelet was the loneliest looking thing. Maybe add a biscuit or some fruit? Our server Becky (?) was friendly and willing to answer our questions and make recommendations. Will I go back? Yes. Maybe for dinner next time. The west side needs more unique places like this and not more chains and strip malls. Check it out. read more

We're delighted to finally have an excellent restaurant to anchor downtown Plainfield. A must do for west siders and it's worthy of a destination trip from other parts of Indy. The owners have done a Magnificent job restoring and repurposing this fantastic landmark. Food is excellent and prepared with attention to detail. Service is superior. Entrees are reasonably priced for a higher end restaurant, as are the cocktails. The different derivatives of the Old Fashioned are unique and tasty. We love the bar upstairs, which is a step back in time to a speakeasy prohibition. Love the live music too! The main seating can get a little loud, but everything else about the Prewitt offsets this. Highly recommended read more

Great service! I love the character of the building and the ambience. The food was also very good.

What a brilliant use of this old theatre. The ambiance is both upscale and charming. The smoked old fashioned is one of the best around. Service was quick and very attentive. If you get the chance to see a show at Hendrick's Live, cross the street for dinner. read more

Finally! Something worthwhile in this area of town. The food, service, and ambiance were exceptional. The short rib egg rolls were out of this world. Incredible menu offerings and truly top notch menu items. We had the short rib and pork entrees and we cleaned the plate on both. Although the rooftop didn't have live music tonight due to a cancellation I will absolutely be back to check out the rooftop. This place is great for a quick glass of wine and meat and cheese tray or a full stop 3 course meal. I will be back! read more

I wish that I could write about a positive experience. My wife and I stopped for a drink and dinner, but the bartender ignored us. My wife is a retired superior court judge, and I'm a retired airline pilot and Army officer. Perhaps we weren't dressed to the bartender's standard. I certainly understand the employment crisis that all businesses face, but if the bartender had acknowledged us, we would have been mollified. I have my standards, too, and I won't be going back to The Prewitt. read more

Sam and Skyler did a fantastic job with our service today. The igloo was a great vibe especially with the smores.

Excellent experience ! We don't make it to Plainfield very often but we were very happy to find this place. Food and drinks were excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was really cool. I had the Ribeye and a side of sweet/bacon carrots that were a special. My wife ordered the short rib and noodles and talked about it the rest of the night. Everyone was very friendly and we loved being able to sit in the lounge area by the stage for an after dinner drink. This place is unique great food and the old theater venue. Considered this place multiple times. Made a Thursday evening reservation for early Valentine. Steak was over cooked and shrimp was cold. Did a recook on the steak. Wife was completely done and ran to the car before my steak came back. Completely ruined the experience of the meal. They weren't even that busy. Nothing about our meal or experience told us to come back. Texas Roadhouse makes a better steak. Save your money. read more

We arrived here on a Friday at 5:45 without reservations and were seated immediately! There was one other couple at first but eventually the room started to fill fast. Front desk staff were very friendly. It was easy to get to the restaurant via the back of the building parking where parking was free! The ambiance was cute. It was like an old theater with a projector playing home alone. Music played overhead. The outside is beautiful. The marketing is great ie the logo, and outside sign and even the finer details like the to go bags! Our waiter was friendly enough; not much to it but adequate. We ordered our food. One appetizer, two entrees. The appetizer was ok. Our entrees were not good. We ordered a burger and the flavor just wasn't there. The steak as well just was mediocre and the truffle mash were dry. The fries were good though! The food in general was very underwhelming and unsatisfying. We ate only a couple of bites of our meal before we decided to just get the check and leave. Our appetizer and two entrees with tip came out to a little over $100. Seems very pricy for what we got. Due to the location, and ambiance, I'd love to love this place but I don't see myself ever going again. read more

Ventured to Plainfield to visit this refurbished downtown movie theater, now restaurant. The place looks great, even a movie ( black and white) plays in main dining area. Has rooftop dining and music as well. The food was very well prepared and tasty. Enjoyed items off of devour Indy menu for the visit which limits options. Outstanding service by the bartender, Shelby, made this a very enjoyable experience. read more

Truly, cannot say enough how enjoyable our experience was. The restaurant was converted from a movie theater and maintained a lot of the traditional aesthetic and brick work that is unique to its time. The bar is beautiful, cozy and well designed to linger for hours. They even have an upstairs area with an outdoor patio, which was our favorite because patios always offer such a unique way to enjoy food and company. We came for brunch and truly loved every dish that we had. Their avocado toast was perfectly balanced with creamy, savory, sweet and salty. The stuffed French toast is made with baguette bread, which is very unique and came with this delicious seasonal berry filling. Cocktails were great and overall the value for the meal was exceptional. Our server was extremely attentive, very helpful with her recommendations and did not steer us wrong. We will absolutely be coming back for dinner and would truly recommend patio seating to anybody that enjoys it. This is such a gem and worth the drive to Plainfield. read more
