I walked in Tuesday evening between 7:45 to 8:00 pm. The front desk was pleasant as I asked for the bar and was directed there. I stopped to look for an open spot. As I stood there, I noticed one waitress moving from table to table with no bartender. It did not seem busy. However, there were dirty dishes on the bar taking up two chairs. When I asked about an open chair with a bottle; I was told it was taken. Three minutes later still no bartender. A couple had just taken a table in the bar area. I simply walked out letting the front desk know about the dirty dishes. I was not impressed with management to say the least. I can not honestly say I would return as having two at the front desk was not efficient at all with no open seats and dishes on the bar. read more

Our first time at The Locale! My husband and I joked that our dinner tonight was the "after" portion of a Kitchen Nightmares episode where Gordon Ramsey visits a restaurant and makes a bunch of improvements. The previous Pit Stop location was not a favorite. We were unaware the current restaurant has undergone a total makeover to a classy dining option for Brownsburg. We enjoyed the recently remodeled entry way and dining space. The teenage hosts that greeted us were friendly and professional, and took us to our table where we were grateful to be sat in Clay's section- he was the perfect amount of menu knowledge + friendliness. My husband and I love this little local spot for grabbing a later dinner and a cold beer. They are only about 10 minutes from our house, so it's super convenient to pop over here. On occasion, we have also ordered takeout from them to pick up where we walk the dogs at nearby Williams Park. They have plenty of TVs in the bar area to watch sports on as well, so we always catch people stopping in for drinks to catch the game. Much quieter than a dive-bar with better food, so I would recommend them for that and a great spot for dinner. read more

We had originally planned to go to another place around the corner but thought we would give this a try. Our server was very attentive and gave great recommendations. I had the beef tips app. Lots of flavor and the meat was tender. They could have been more rare for me but a temp was not requested. The mini wedge salad was good but served room temperature. I think it got made and sat waiting for the rest of the order. My friend had the Philly which he said was great. The fries were really good. The place is huge. I think the bar atmosphere is a bit more enjoyable as the main dining area is just a large open space with tables, not much decor and no music. My friend was in town and wanted to catch up so she recommended we go to The Locale. Unfortunately, there was a live band so we couldn't really hear each other but the food and service was good! I was thrown off by the crowd... not sure why but I definitely didn't expect a bunch of older people but it was just that. A lot of older people on the floor dancing right by the live band. I love this place, it's not a chain and their food is great. Sitting in the bar is my favorite with all the large screen TV's and comfy booths. Our waitress Cici is great, she continuously checks in and is quick with service. Now to the food my favorite dish here is the Walleye, it's fresh. The menu has it fried but they will blacken it if you want. The garlic mashed potatoes are good nice and creamy and love the French onion signature soup. Next time I'm going to have to order something different but it's hard when the Walleye is so good! read more

I've been to this restaurant several times in the past. The food has always been fine, but the main reason I chose it for my birthday dinner was that they offered a private room at no additional charge, which many places do not. Based on previous experiences, I expected a smooth and flexible evening. I originally gave an estimate of 23 guests. Unfortunately, several people canceled very last minute--some within an hour of the event--which was already disappointing and stressful. Prior to the event, I was told that if we had fewer than 20 guests, we could order off the regular menu. Because we were still above that number at the time, I worked with the restaurant to create a simplified menu. The morning of the event, I was informed that one of the entrées was no longer available. I do appreciate that they were willing to keep that special entrée on the menu and prepare it anyway, since guests had already been told it would be offered. When I arrived, I learned--through a guest, not staff--that there was a $500 food minimum and that every guest was required to order one of the special-menu entrées. Guests were allowed to order appetizers, but appetizers could not replace an entrée as their meal. This requirement was not clearly communicated beforehand and differed from previous experiences. It was also during this conversation that I learned the restaurant had changed its policy as of January 1 regarding room fees and minimums--something that was never communicated to me during the booking process. When I tried to ask questions and clarify what had been agreed upon, the initial waiter was combative and dismissive. Management stepped in but handled the situation defensively. At one point, the manager became dismissive as well, stating that I should have told them earlier that fewer guests were coming that morning--despite the fact that cancellations continued to happen right up until the event started. Rather than de-escalating the situation, the focus remained on placing blame. No one from management apologized or checked in with us after that point. They removed our waiter and reassigned a hostess, who did her best under uncomfortable circumstances, but the experience was already soured. I even told the hostess that if they needed additional tables elsewhere, I was willing to share the room as a compromise. Unfortunately, they did take me up on this, which was disappointing and further reinforced the sense that there was little consideration for the fact that this was meant to be a private birthday event. Management never followed up with us during the evening. I understand that restaurants have policies, and I'm more than willing to work within them when they are communicated clearly. What made this experience so frustrating was not the policies themselves, but the lack of transparency, last-minute changes, and the tone used when questions were asked. This ended up being the most stressful birthday dinner I've had, and I won't be returning--not because things went wrong, but because of how they were handled. read more

I really wanted to like this place. It's a spin off of Dawson's. The food was not that great. Very bland. There were six of us and no one really enjoyed their food. The only thing we all enjoyed was the shrimp appetizer. The presentation of the food looked good. It was just very lacking and taste. The service was OK. Our waiter was friendly enough and got our food and Bill to us in a timely manner. The ambience was fine. Nothing spectacular, but it had a good feel when you walked in. read more

Been meaning to try this place for awhile now. We finally went in on a Saturday night. We were seated pretty quick and the place was fairly busy. The restaurant has been nicely converted from the previous restaurant to be more elegant. Our waitress, Kaitlyn, came by almost immediately and introduced herself. She was very friendly and answered any questions we had. We ended up ordering the cowboy filet tips w/ mashed potatoes and broccoli and the bang bang chicken sandwich with fries and a side salad. The filet tips were good but are overpowered with the seasoning and more salty than we prefer. The bang bang chicken sandwich was really good and the chicken breast itself was a pretty good size. The fries were really good and reminded me of Rallys fries with the seasoning on them. The salad was extremely fresh tasting. We were in Brownsburg today and we were looking for a place to eat. We came across this establishment and decided to stop for dinner. The place was starting to get busy at 5pm. I noticed they also seem to take reservations. My son had the sausage pizza which he really liked. My wife had the Chicken BLT Salad but was not fond of how the chicken breast was prepared. It seemed boiled or something and lacked flavor. I had the Moby Dick Fish Sandwich served on a hoagie. It was good and seemed like a popular selection. Our server, Savanna was awesome. The Locale is where Pit Stop BBQ was in Brownsburg and it has been fully renovated and looks great inside with a big bar area and lots of seating. We came in for an early dinner and it was not busy. We ordered the Calamari and Bang Bang Shrimp for our appetizers and Meatloaf and Salmon. I did appreciate how the calamari were big chunky strips. The rest of the food was good but nothing that stood out. The service was good. I would definitely come back and try more options on the menu. read more

Even though The Locale has been open for some time now, we just haven't stopped in. Who knows why? This was formerly the Pit Stop, where we dined at often. Located at the end of a strip center, parking is plentiful. From the moment we entered the restaurant, I was shocked, and I continued to enjoy all the changes. You'll see fresh and airy decor in shades of grays, blacks, and tans. They added a large tiled, two-sided wall with fireplaces separating the two new main areas. Consolidating the old 3 rooms has turned the restaurant into a visually appealing contemporary restaurant. The floor plan is more inviting and creates a better functional use of the space. Opening up the entrances plus having larger isleways helped many and visually assisted with the openness. The renovation is outstanding!! Come to my house, please! For those of you who had been to Pit Stop, you'll be blown away. The reno has opened up the restaurant by moving the bar area, booths, table, and chairs plus high top tables to the center of the restaurant. It created a bar area people want to hang out at. Now for the main reason you go to restaurants, the food. The menu has a nice selection from appetizers, soup and salads, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, ribs, and seafood. Something for most. My husband ordered the Prime Rib Manhattan sandwich, which is a slice of sourdough bread topped with mashed potatoes, then a generous amount of sliced prime rib piled on top of potatoes and gravy. Unfortunately, the prime rib was incredibly tough and stringy. He was very disappointed and said he wouldn't order again. It was possibly a bad day for the Chef and not a common occurrence. I ordered the French Onion Soup that had smaller diced onions, which makes it easier to eat. The bowl was thick with cheese and flavorful. The only thing I would suggest is a darker, richer broth. I also ordered the delicious Cajun Steak Tips served with soft pita bread and horseradish sauce. The steak tips were tender, prepared medium rare, and truly bite size. Excellent Steak Bites are great for an appetizer or your main entree. Our server was terrific, timely on everything, and checked on us often. He was friendly while maintaining his professional side. Our drinks remained full and used dishes removed quickly. Great server! I just wish I could remember his name. This restaurant has been open for a while but this was our first time visiting. It used to be Pit Stop. It has been remodeled and is very clean and open with plenty of seating. The hostess that greeted us was very nice and seated us right away. Our waitress was very sweet And came to our table quickly to take our drink order and tell us the specials. They have a decent lunch menu with a selection of appetizers and salads, wraps, sandwiches, etc. I ordered the French onion soup and my husband ordered the Jalapeno corn chowder. Both of the soups were good. Mine had lots of cheese and was hot. He said his was tasty. He ordered the Frisco double smashburger melt and house fries. He said the fries were good but he was very disappointed with the Frisco melt. It was kind if odd. Served on white toast with the sauce on the side and the patties weren't really like smash burgers, but just ok. I ordered the Moby Dick fish sandwich and it was a good size but wasn't very thick compared to the bread roll that it was on. The roll kind of overwhelmed the fish. The fish wasn't bad, just kind of bland. The chips were regular potato chips- no problem there. The coleslaw was fine. I don't know if we would try again. Sadly, I wish I had a better review for you...I'd heard mixed reviews and decided to try the Locale out for my birthday. There were a total of three for our table and we were sat immediately which was nice because I was told you should probably make a reservation on a Thursday night (note I called two separate times throughout the day to make reservations and no one answered the phone). There was a lot of space and the decor was ok. Had kind of a modern speakeasy feel to it. It was a bit chilly so I do recommend a sweater. There was live music in the bar area which made conversation in the dining area a bit difficult. Seems like they are stuck deciding on being a semi upscale establishment or a local noisy bar. The food...We started with the bang bang shrimp and calamari steak which should be called calamari fingers as calamari steak is a bit misleading in my opinion. However, the bang bang shrimps were good. I'd order both of those again. My breaded tenderloin looked amazing and ginormous, but sadly, was real grisly. My onion rings were good and cooked perfectly and the onion didn't pull out on the first bite but were probably done waaay before the rest of the food came out because they were cold. My mother ordered the half rack of ribs with fries and Mac n cheese. Now I know that competition ribs are not supposed to be fall off the bone but you shouldn't have to cut the meat off the bones. They were a bit tough and one side was burnt and just covered up with bbq sauce. Mom said the fries and Mac were good though. My sister ordered the black n Bleu sirloin medium and it came out well done and she had to put in some serious knife work to get the first two and only bites she took. She sent the steak back and opted to not get anything else. I can only guess that they were short staffed because it took about 10 mins for the server to come back to take our order after getting our drinks. Once the food came out we had to ask for condiments, extra napkins, and the fries that my sister ordered with her steak. It was at least another 10 minutes before the server came back to check and see how our food was. All in all, not a good first impression. Very nice and clean inside with a modern look. The pot roast was tender and the mushroom gravy really added a nice touch! The garlic red potatoes were comfort food and the bits of skin made these stand out. The coleslaw was definitely home made and not premade ones that are just lazy. Wife loved the French Onion soup, lots of depth and broth was delicious. The kids split the breaded tenderloin which is a staple and they loved it. Service was great! Excellent service but mediocre food. Our server was very attentive to us and kept our drinks full throughout dinner. The food, however, leaves much to be desired. I had a Cobb salad and my husband had the patty melt. My salad was fine, meh. Full of diced ham and turkey along with the rest of the traditional Cobb salad toppings. The menu says house made croutons, but these are definitely not house made. The blue cheese dressing was just okay. My husband had a patty melt. A patty melt is usually juicy, greasy, and delicious. Everything was there to make a delicious patty melt, but it was over cooked and dry. You would expect a buttered piece of toasted bread, usually actually fried on the grill. This bread was a dry piece of toast. The fries, were good. There was live music and people dancing on a Thursday evening, which made it fun. The space is very big. It might be a good place for an appetizer and live music, maybe a beer, but I wouldn't recommend it for the food. read more

The food was subpar, it wasn't much to write home about. Sadly it was very expensive and the quality just wasn't great. My server was really bad. He took my check and then took over 45mins to bring my card back and then ran off so fast I literally couldn't ask for a to go box. Overall not impressed with my service or the food. read more

We met friends for an early dinner. We were seated immediately and our server was great. All four of us really enjoyed our meals (tenderloin, smothered chicken, and prime rib manhattans), the salads were so cold and crisp and the creamed spinach was so good. Since they weren't too busy we lingered for almost 2 hours and didn't feel rushed by the server to leave. Our friends have eaten there many times, it was our second time. We will definitely be back. First off let's chat about our server Abby, she was awesome! Abby was personable, fun, and genuine. My wife and I had a great time interacting with Abby and would gladly seek out her section again in the future. The food was good. I had the chicken parm with the vodka sauce and my wife had the tenderloin. Both were great and we'd order them again. We sat at the bar for a bit prior to being seated and enjoyed a pre-dinner beverage. I had an Old Fashioned and my wife asked for a glass of red wine (blend). The wine was good. The Old Fashioned was a miss. I'm not sure what bourbon was used, but I actually got an eye twitch from it. They didn't ask me to specify a bourbon which is a shame because they had a couple nice ones, it appeared, as well as my usual standard, Woodford Reserve. If I order one again I'll be sure to specify Woodford or ask what they have. A good experience overall and we'll be back to try other menu items....I'm a sucker for meatloaf. read more

The Locale (formerly Dawsons) is our #1 choice in Brownsburg! This family owned business is wonderful to my family when we come in. The food is consistent and delicious- I highly recommend the pot roast dinner and the quesadilla. Their nachos are arguably the best I've ever had- every time I order them! They do a best job with layering the toppings and having a gooood amount of them, especially the queso. The servers are super friendly and make a delicious martini. We had a mixed experience, 5 of us stopped in for lunch. Ordered Bang Bang shrimp and Nachos as appetizers, the shrimp were good, the nachos were just ok. Ordered the steak fajitas wrap, Reuben, chicken tenders, blackened salmon Caesar salad and blackened chicken Caesar salad. The wrap got a two thumbs up, the Rueben and chicken Caesar were good, tenders were very good but the blackened salmon Caesar was a massive disappointment. Not so much for the flavor or quality, but for the size of salmon portion. As the person who received it put it, " the portion size was insulting." It was less than 3" square and less than a half inch thick. We were guessing that it was maybe 2 ounces. The chicken Caesar had 4 times the meat, there were so many tenders some were given to the salmon salad guest to up the protein. Charge a couple of bucks more and give us enough salmon to make a decent meal or just don't offer it. read more

Since The Locale has opened, their food quality has continued to decline. We went there for dinner tonight and this will be the last visit. We had not been for several months due to food quality not being the best. We thought we would try it again. My wife ordered the chicken wings, which were overdone. They brought celery, which 2 of the pieces were old. I ordered the fish and chips. Two of the three pieces were very fishy tasting. The charged us for the dinner prices even though they were serving off of the lunch menu, due to issues with the kitchen. The waitress, who was very good, spoke with the manager and did get our bill reduced. It was not a good food experience, and this will be the last time that we go here read more
