I can't tell you how many times I have been to Oasis over the past year-and-a-half since I've discovered it. Every time we walk in, we are immediately greeted by the cheerful staff and warm, retro ambiance. There are so many things I love about Oasis, but I think the biggest thing is the true diner-style environment they have. Classic bar stools and a counter with several pies, cozy booths, and even outdoor seating! In the main dining area, the decor showcases all sorts of retro/vintage history with 8-tracks, vinyls, and license plates from decades past. As they are also along the Historic National Road, their menu reflects the other cities along the highway with their breakfast combos! If you want a different route to get here, they are also situated right along the White Lick Creek Trail, so it's an easy walk (or bike) across the pedestrian bridge to some delicious American food! As well as the ambiance I've discussed, I also love that they are a frequent participant of the Devour Indy promotions, as the promotions and deals they offer are well worth it! Over the many times I've been here, I've tried quite a few things off their menu, and they have a lot! Prices are very reasonable (I think they have gone up just a smidge since I've been there but nothing too crazy). If you stop in the morning (or any time, really) their cappuccino is AMAZING! I just get a basic cappuccino, but there are additional flavors you can add (Toffee and French Vanilla are two that I remember). Their burgers are always cooked to perfection, and the fries are a joy to eat (especially if you get the loaded fries!). Overall, this is a restaurant that is truly one of my all-time favorites and I will go out of my way to stop and have a meal here. read more

Almost 2 years after my "discovery" of Oasis Diner, I've probably been here so many times now! Therefore, I know more than I did before. Food is always delicious. I've gotten breakfast here twice, and we're normally here for dinner. Prices are always really good and we can get a good value for our meals. As of late, I've discovered their cappuccinos which either can be flavored with French Vanilla or English Toffee. I'm partial towards the toffee flavor since I like the complexity of the toasted caramel notes. Our servers are always really friendly. I believe the servers are mainly around student age, so it's nice that they can get good work experience. Because they're presumably underage I don't want to list anyone in particular for a special shoutout, but I can give them all a blanket shoutout of positivity! The atmosphere has more retro elements than I first realized, with a whole wall of vinyls and 8-tracks. There's also a nice mural with Indiana license plates so you can see the design evolution. The road map with a few different highlighted cities is also pretty neat. read more

I found this diner on Tik Tok so I feel like I HAD to come visit. The place was busy as I expected and the inside was decorated so cute and vintage with records and cds and pictures and old games plastered on the walls. Our server was so nice and patient with us as well. I ordered the special they had which was some waffles that had ice cream and caramel and pecans spread on top, and a side of grits and my boo ordered avocado toast with hashbrowns on the side. My husband has never met a diner he didn't want to try, so naturally we had to go to the Oasis Diner when we visited Plainfield. It originally opened in 1954, according to the mural outside, and it is a quaint, cozy and delicious little spot with quick, friendly service. We tried the Oasis burger; the short stack meal; the Quaker breakfast; and the Indianapolis country-fried breakfast. The portion sizes were generous -- our teenager couldn't finish the double-patty burger -- and everything we tried was tasty. Our kids especially liked the housemade sodas! Well, we stopped in here on our way back to Kentucky from Plainfield, this place. This place was originally opened in 1954, according to the mural outside. The place was busy. Despite that, the staff was very attentive. I just love the decor of vintage records, pictures, and old games plastered all over the walls, giving the 1960s dinner feel. I had the Oasis Burger, which is a double burger with pulled pork, bacon, BBQ sauce, coleslaw, pickles, and cheddar cheese served on a brioche bun, while my wife had the Quaker Cheeseburger, which is served with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle on a brioche bun. She added bacon as well. They are all served with your choice of regular side and a pickle spear. I had the onion rings with the Sriracha ranch sauce, which is excellent; my wife had her onion rings with ranch. We both had Beignets for dessert. I eat here often because it is within walking distance of my house. It has great food, a fun environment, a great location and preserves a little slice of Americana. Plus, the Hoosier State Sandwich - the breaded pork tenderloin - reaches its pinnacle of excellence here. All of their food is great, and at a decent price. Such a neat building! We stopped in on our way to go hiking and took our food on the patio. Our waitress was welcoming and personable. If you look closely it is possible to find a healthy item on the menu in the midst of all the fried items that they are more known for. Absolutely wonderful! My daughter and I went after a birthday party and both of us decided this was a "go back" spot! I had the special- smoked sausage, saurkraut, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Kiddo had chicken tenders, and we shared an appetizer sampler. Everything was delicious! I ordered supper yesterday. The order included a gallon of sweet tea. It wasn't delivered. The delivery person wasted time fingering the containers in the bag, looking for the tea. He read the receipt a number of times and repeatedly said, "It's not my fault." I called the restaurant and was told they would send the tea out immediately. Didn't show up. They make delicious fried pickles and onion rings. They got rid of their black bean burger for vegetarian people and their delicious sweet potato fries. That's a huge bummer for me as I loved those two and I am a vegetarian. They only have grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque for vegetarians outside of all the sides you get. Pretty darn good. We were looking for something easy but no fast food on our way out to buy plants. Stopped at Oasis diner. Ordered a burger and some chili plus raspberry tea. The tea was too sweet for me but by husband loved it. A personal thing not the restaurant's issue burger was good and fries were terrific. Chili was good as well. Server was delightful and friendly. Stopped here on my way back to Ohio. Came specifically for the pork tenderloin sandwich. It was huge! Fully 3 times the size of the bun. Had to cut it to make a sandwich that I could pick up. Tenderloin was delicious. Exactly what I was looking for. Fries are thin lightly breaded. They were yummy as well. I needed a nap after. Definitely recommend. Oasis is a cute old timey diner. Went with family and we had the fried tenderloin, grilled cheese, double stacker cheeseburger, fries, onion rings, and a wedge salad. Everything was delicious. This diner has a lot of interesting history, most notably that this was literally moved from a different part of town. It was difficult to find what I liked on the menu as their selections were huge. I wasn't in the mood for a burger or anything like that, so I went with catfish and onion rings. To drink I had the butterscotch root beer, which tasted like heaven. Best breaded tenderloin around. It's so big, I get 4 meals out of it! Reheat in air fryer and it is crispy and fresh! Fries are always crispy too! I try to eat healthy but I will stray for this tenderloin a couple times a year, and I feel no guilt!! read more

Oasis is such a cool retro-diner experience. The tenderloin sliders were fantastic, and honestly one of my favorite tenderloins I've ever had. What an amazing little gem! Love everything about this place from the location and decor to the staff! They even had a pet friendly area for those well behaved dogs and thought that was great. Started off with a vat of coffee and it wasn't long before our orders came along. Substitutions were easy and allowed. Corned Beef Hash was truly shaved and shredded and not canned. What a plus. I visited Plainfield and found the Oasis Cafe. I like a vintage place, and the cafe had that feeling - a counter with stools, checkered floors, good music and cookies and pies under glass. Oasis Cafe does their own sodas, and I had a Cola - very good stuff. I had heard the tenderloins were good, so I ordered one with onion rings. The sandwich came with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion, plus garlic mayo (get it - it was a nice compliment). The food arrived and looked great - a massive tenderloin, hot from the fryer. My one issue - there was a lot of breading that came off in cutting the sandwich in half. Not a major deal, but still... I ended up having a lot of fried bits in the basket (like those crunchy things at Long John Silvers), and the sandwich was still good. Aside from that, the onion rings were very good. People at the next table bought a pie to go, and they were raving fans as well. Super-friendly staff - who seemed genuinely nice and appreciated the customers. The restaurant is located near a walking/bike trail, off the Main Street. Convenient, clean, and all-around enjoyable. I will definitely be back. read more

The food is always good and there's a lot of of it and for the prices that are going on I think this is a great place to get food. Only problem came from the delivery. I don't know how to get a hold of Grubhub to tell them their directions are wrong. They keep sending people to a farmhouse. And since none of the drivers ever seem to speak English, and they don't answer their phones right away I'm frustrated And I'm pretty upset about it because I've lost a lot of stuff to that house. read more

I have been to Oasis A LOT lately and it is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the area. My favorite item they have are their chocolate chip pancakes, they are AMAZING! I get a side of meat also and my favorite that I have had are the sausage links. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have an amazing vibe, very retro and throwback. I am keeping up what has now become an annual tradition. I have been to the beloved dinner once again for devour indy aka Winterfest. I know the menu well and probably don't even need it. The food and service once again excellent. Of note they still make there own soda and while different I like that unique offering so don't think of getting coke or Pepsi here. I ordered the Ruben sandwich with the amazing made in house onion rings and finished wit a piece of some of the best pie around. I was happy to see reruns of the three stooges while I ate and could explain to my son this was what I liked to watch when I was a kid. Place was retro and super throw back. The ambiance is something to remember. I really enjoyed reminiscing on the selected music plastered to the walls. From Atracks to CDs. The Oasis Dinner had it all. Summer was our server! She was attentive, and a true joy to engage with. We told her we just got off a RedEye from The Bay Area and she kept the coffee coming with the BOUJEE creamers! The food was above mediocre but tasted good, I'll blame it on our BOUJEEness. Everything was very well portioned. We had the Corn-beef Hash, Short stack starter and Pancakes. The corn-beef was very stringy and tough but seasoned well. The eggs were cooked just as ordered (Med well, light yoke) The short stack came with home style potatoes that were good but a little over cooked for my taste. The pancakes were large and in charge of the plate but missed the fluff and softness that would make them amazing! Again, for fellow Yelpers who want to know how this place will effect the palette of tastebuds, everything was good and worth is worth the stop!! Overall, I would come back and definitely recommend you to come and get a taste for yourself. I'm from out of town where food is above average so I'm bias. Had an impromptu date night last week while we were in the area for an indoor percussion competition at the high school. I'd been reading about the Oasis for several years now as one of the "must try" places, so why not? Let's just say, it lives up to the hype. I've always been a big fan of diners and really appreciate their impact on our collective cultural history. It's nice to see this establishment lean in to that mystique. There are mementos lining the walls, and the back room has a "museum" of advertising signs, vintage lunchboxes, and other gems like 8-track tapes. Our server was outstanding, albeit just this side of smart aleck-y, but in a playful way. Our meals were top notch, with the tenderloin I ordered being one of the best I've ever tasted. The breading was distint and the size was almost too much. Almost. All in all, the Oasis would be the kind of place I'd take friends and family from out of town.
