I am keeping up what has now become an annual tradition. I have been to the beloved dinner once again for devour indy aka Winterfest. I know the menu well and probably don't even need it. The food and service once again excellent. Of note they still make there own soda and while different I like that unique offering so don't think of getting coke or Pepsi here. I ordered the Ruben sandwich with the amazing made in house onion rings and finished wit a piece of some of the best pie around. I was happy to see reruns of the three stooges while I ate and could explain to my son this was what I liked to watch when I was a kid. Place was retro and super throw back. The ambiance is something to remember. I really enjoyed reminiscing on the selected music plastered to the walls. From Atracks to CDs. The Oasis Dinner had it all. Summer was our server! She was attentive, and a true joy to engage with. We told her we just got off a RedEye from The Bay Area and she kept the coffee coming with the BOUJEE creamers! The food was above mediocre but tasted good, I'll blame it on our BOUJEEness. Everything was very well portioned. We had the Corn-beef Hash, Short stack starter and Pancakes. The corn-beef was very stringy and tough but seasoned well. The eggs were cooked just as ordered (Med well, light yoke) The short stack came with home style potatoes that were good but a little over cooked for my taste. The pancakes were large and in charge of the plate but missed the fluff and softness that would make them amazing! Again, for fellow Yelpers who want to know how this place will effect the palette of tastebuds, everything was good and worth is worth the stop!! The food is always good and there's a lot of of it and for the prices that are going on I think this is a great place to get food. Only problem came from the delivery. I don't know how to get a hold of Grubhub to tell them their directions are wrong. They keep sending people to a farmhouse. And since none of the drivers ever seem to speak English, and they don't answer their phones right away I'm frustrated And I'm pretty upset about it because I've lost a lot of stuff to that house. read more

Had an impromptu date night last week while we were in the area for an indoor percussion competition at the high school. I'd been reading about the Oasis for several years now as one of the "must try" places, so why not? Let's just say, it lives up to the hype. I've always been a big fan of diners and really appreciate their impact on our collective cultural history. It's nice to see this establishment lean in to that mystique. There are mementos lining the walls, and the back room has a "museum" of advertising signs, vintage lunchboxes, and other gems like 8-track tapes. Our server was outstanding, albeit just this side of smart aleck-y, but in a playful way. Our meals were top notch, with the tenderloin I ordered being one of the best I've ever tasted. The breading was distint and the size was almost too much. Almost. All in all, the Oasis would be the kind of place I'd take friends and family from out of town. It's a diner... Cute, but still a diner with typical diner food and service. Service is friendly, but dare I say a bit on the 'robust' side. I'm fine with it, but a more sensitive soul may not be amused. Social distancing here not so much, so I would say enter at your own risk despite the staff wearing masks and sanitizing between customers. The food is good diner food. Despite the limited Covid menu, you can surely find something to wet your whistle on here. The portions are large and the prices reasonable. Finally got to get on this side of town and sit down at an authentic looking diner lol It's absolutely precious and so well decorated with tin lunch boxes, leather red stool at the bar, desert on the counter, and the feel of the Lou's Cafe from Back to the Future. We decided we wanted to get burgers even though they serve breakfast all day. The burgers were delicious, with cheese fries. My chili was a little runny but the experience and service was excellent. Very clean restaurant and lots of families around having dinner. So glad I was able to get this experience. read more

I knew that I'd be heading to Brownsburg to explore a nature park, but I had no other plans. Didn't even know what would be possible thanks to Corona Virus. But once I had walked the entire loop at Arbuckle Park, capturing the scene as I went, I worked myself up a good appetite. But where to go? Just then there was a frenzy of activity in my brain as I considered where I was, remembered Plainfield and The Oasis Diner was not far away, and finally might be able to use a gift certificate I'd been saving for the perfect opportunity. So #Franny and I headed to Plainfield. We #found the diner, I scanned the menu, and I ordered something I'd never dreamed possible but wore the name of the restaurant: The Oasis Burger And it was delivered just as described: two beef patties covered with cheese, bacon, pulled pork bbq, slaw, and pickles, served on a brioche bun with a side of fries. The only thing I could do when it was in front of me was laugh. And pick up my fork and knife and dive in! All I can say is that it was so sloppy but so good that I didn't feel the bbq sauce all over my chin until I was driving back to INDY, AFTER I had said goodbye to the staff! ‍ And, no, I could not eat it all. We normally wouldn't travel this far west (with the one exception of the covered bridge festival) but hubby wanted to try the cute diner listed on the Devour Indy website. On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, we came to the Oasis diner to sample their goodies. The parking lot itself has a walking trail attached to it. How cute is that?! Once we got inside everything went downhill though. The diner is super small. I mean small small. When we were sat down we had to interrupt another woman who was eating to ask her to scoot in. I would be mad as H E double hockey sticks sitting at her table. It was in the main aisle so I don't know how many times she was disturbed, but I digress, who am I to be mad for another person? So we sit down and order drinks while looking at the menu. I took a sip of this horrendous drink...I told the waitress there was something wrong with my diet and she said that's the way their "HANDCRAFTED SODAS" taste. It was bad, bad. It tasted really chemical-y and just gross. She asked if I wanted a water but I'm just not a water person. I was ready to go right then but my 15 yo wanted pancakes so we stayed so he could eat. Blown away! I usually steer clear of diners like these because I expect it to be more of a tourist trap than a restaurant with delicious food. Looking at the pics online, I thought it was worth a shot and then I heard they made their own sodas and I was sold. I tried their cherry cola, which was delicious! My dad had the club with potato salad and loved it. I had the party melt with cole slaw and my aunt had the reuben with cole slaw. My aunt and I shared half of our sandwiches with each other. We both agreed that they were delicious, but the patty melt was our favorite. The cole slaw was delicious too. We had excellent service and enjoyed looking at the restaurant decor all over the walls in the dining room and the bathrooms. Take a step back in time is what you will feel when you walk in the doors of the Oasis Diner! The wall lined with old 45s, 8 track tapes, cassette tapes, cassette, and old school tin lunch boxes. The TV plays reruns of old 50's and 60's sitcoms. There was some good Christmas music playing which brightened the mood as it was a gloomy and rainy day when I went. I had the Breaded Tenderloin and I'd have to say that it's definitely in my top 3. It was breaded and cooked to perfection! It was moist and tender but held together nicely. They have a garlic mayo that accompanied the sandwich which tied all the flavors together. They have a wide variety of old school classics and They even make their own cola! I had really high expectations for this place since it had so many 5 star reviews and...who doesn't love a diner? I thought the food and service were just ok. I did love the oldies music and nostalgic atmosphere. I went around 9am in a Tuesday morning and there was just one other customer there. The restaurant across the street was packed so I thought that was a little weird right off the bat. I had the biscuit and gravy with eggs and hashbrowns. The eggs were extremely soft scrambled, borderline not cooked. Everything was hot but really no flavor. The service was fine, but we requested water and never received it. Overall, it was definitely a cool experience for anyone who loves diners like I do. I just wish the food was as good as the atmosphere. read more

We decided to try something new. This was a little diner in Plainfield and it had all the comfort food you could want. We were able to sit outside on the patio and the weather that day was perfect. The waitress was very nice and came out to talk to us and I ordered a patty melt. My only complaint about the patty melt was that it had thousand Island dressing on it and it should've been plain. The taste was great and I ordered tater tots but she brought me fries instead and never corrected it. They were OK though and she checked on us repeatedly and topped off our drinks. I also have a strawberry rhubarb pie and it was delicious though for some reason she packed it in a to go box and I had to have her take it out and heat it up so I could eat it right then and there. Overall it was really good experience even though there were some hiccups. I will definitely come again. read more

Well. I've liked Oasis before, but the experience today was a huge letdown. We did the Devour menu, and were hugely disappointed. We were seated by 2:30, ordered by 2:40, but didn't see even our starter until 3:10. While the burger and the tenderloin were still good, the dessert we got was a joke and very misleading. The menu states "you get two desserts: homemade piece of pie or beignets" hey, 2 desserts, that's awesome! Nope. Waitress says actually if you get the beignets you have to share them. But you can get two pieces of pie. Ok, so we go that route. We order pecan pie and cherry pie. Now, remember, the menu states "homemade piece of pie". Waitress says we get 2. Please, see the picture attached to this post to see what we received. Oasis, you need to clarify your menu. These are not pieces of pie. These are TASTES of pie. There isn't even crust under 90% of my "piece" of pecan pie. read more

A quick story: I stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon excited to order a meal here since I had read this place was awesome. The menu is extensive so I finally selected my entree and placed my order. Naturally I got a tenderloin bc it's their best known dish. Shortly after, i remembered I entirely forgot that I transferred all of the money and cards out of my wallet into a smaller purse the night before. Did I bring the purse to lunch? Of course not! I asked the staff to cancel my order and apologized profusely. One of the waitresses heard me and insisted that she bought my lunch that afternoon. Out of the kindness of her heart!!! She went above and beyond to help me. I returned promptly after hitting an ATM ;) to thank her. Summer is an excellent person and put such a smile on my face that day. Stopped in on a Friday night for dinner and it was hoppin'! It's a true diner feel with diner food but it was great. They have indoor and outdoor seating options but the outdoor was full so we sat inside to be seated right away. Our waitress, Chloe, greeted us and took our drink order within just a minute or two of sitting down which was wonderful. They had an insane number of carry out orders going out so we put in our appetizer order pretty quickly assuming it would take a little longer with all of the orders they had. We got the loaded fries which were awesome and had tons of cheese and the good bacon, not the flavorless crumbles. We ordered meals that consisted of the brunch burger with coleslaw and the blackened tenderloin with cottage cheese. Both meals were delicious! I've been eyeing this place every time I go through the area. Today, I ordered online. OK, so I knew I was ordering too much, because we wanted to sample a little of everything. That said, portions are pretty large! The fried pickles are on the salty side, but I thought they contrasted nicely with the ranch dressing. The chicken fingers were pretty good! The porky fries were fun and would be great for sharing (or not...). The Oasis burger is fun, but for obvious reasons, it's on the heavy side. Check this place out! We were pleasantly surprised to stumble on this retro 1950s/1960s style diner tonight. I persuaded the grandkids to try it out because we all love Little Anthony's diner (next door to Gaslight Theatre) in Tucson. I ordered the fried Tenderloin sandwich and it was HUGE as you can see in my photo. I had to cut it in half to fit on the bun and it was dee-licious! My onion rings were equally delicious. Big thumbs up! My granddaughter ordered the chicken fingers, her regular fare. She said they were some of the best she's ever had. If you follow my reviews you know she's very picky and few places pass her chicken standards. For instance, Chick-fil-A does not. The grandson ordered his usual too which is the Philly Cheesesteak. He also said his was very good. He was too full to eat dessert, a rare event, rare for any kid. And he wants to come back. So they brag about their ice cream (see photo) so we had to sample some. The granddaughter ordered the Heaps of Love flavor which is vanilla ice cream with peanuts, chocolate chips and caramel syrup. She loved it. I decided to test them by ordering the Old Fashioned Vanilla. Let me tell you that was some the creamiest most vanilla flavored ice cream I ever had. We came here for the first time for devour. I cannot say enough how worth the 1 hour drive it was for us. First of all: cutest restaurant I have ever seen. The butterscotch root beer was AMAZING. Our food was also great. My father is from Indiana and is a pork tenderloin snob and he loved it. My husband is super picky about friendly service and he was very impressed. Pie-- was definitely made from scratch and super delicious. We will definitely be back. I want to live there now. Lol read more

This is a nice old school diner. They have excellent service. The staff there is very friendly. The bar seating is lined with delicious pies and cookies, so yes, I had to set up camp there. They have typical diner food like burgers, entrees, breakfast food, desserts and ice creamI opted to get the Oasis Burger with fries. The burger and fries were delicious. I really liked the burger it was unique, flavorful, delicious. They seem to be known for their tenderloins. I almost got one, but they were intimidatingly huge. The diner has decent seating and ample parking in a private parking lot. It is also very clean and has a "Mayberry" down-home feel. I highly recommend paying this place a visit and I look forward to returning here soon. read more

Diner food perfection! Hubby & I dropped in for a late lunch while we were out running errands, and I promise we will make this a regular stop! Greeted & seated promptly in a classic diner booth by wait staff. Drinks came out quickly & hot, fresh food followed shortly. The server was friendly and attentive and made sure we had a great lunch. I opted for a club sandwich & they accommodated my request to leave off the turkey without any problems. Really hard to beat a simple classic club sandwich! I've been meaning to visit here for a while and Devour Indy is taking place right now so my husband and I decided to check it out last night. The diner is a restored class 50's diner off of I-40 in downtown Plainfield. They have plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating. It is dog-friendly in the outdoor patio area. It was a really beautiful night so we decided to eat outside. Our waitress did take quite awhile to realize we were waiting outside to order which was a bit disappointing. The food made up for the lackluster service. For Devour you could order 1 app, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts for two at $35. We ordered the fried pickles for our appetizers. I ordered the Quaker (cheeseburger) with a side of onion rings, a root beer to drink, and the beignets for dessert. The food was really tasty and cooked well. They also have homemade milkshakes, malts, and other great desserts available. I think it was a bit more of a 3 and a half rating for me since our server kept forgetting about us. I am in shock that Oasis Diner is not full of 5 star reviews. Our lunch today was everything I hoped a nostalgia-inducing diner visit would be! The restaurant itself is well maintained and we loved learning about its history from the cards on the tables to the memorabilia on the walls. Fried pickles were good, but I'll try onion rings not time. I *loved* the Deluxe Grilled Cheese with tomato soup, and would have a hard time ordering anything aside from that in the future. That is my jam. Blackened Catfish Po Boy was delicious- great seasoning, baguette, and toppings. Server was a doll and we were in and out in less than an hour.
