Visited Mayberry Cafe for the first time and stopped for breakfast. A unique place and decor representing Mayberry/Andy Griffith. Service was good, but food was average, at best. Both my wife and I had skillets. Surprisingly, not much flavor. I also got a side of sausage gravy that you could eat with a fork it was so thick. Flavor was average,but anything close to what you expect sausage gravy to be. The Huckleberry Lemonade is good, but way too sweet. I've tried multiple dishes they offer and I have no complaints. I've found everything to be delicious! Staff have always been kind and very attentive. The place gives old country vibes. As I work my way through clearing out my parents' longtime home following my father's recent death, I've also been revisiting some old and familiar places along the way. After a brief stop at the house tonight, I decided to stop in and revisit Mayberry Cafe. I have known the owners of the Mayberry for many years, partly because they knew my parents and partly because my path used to cross with one of them. As I don't really live in this area, I don't get here often. However, with my father's death I'm spending more and more time in this area and tonight decided to do a revisit. Mayberry Cafe is, of course, an Andy Griffith-show themed restaurant complete with decor centered around the show and a menu that really celebrates Southern dining. There's a police car off to the side of the building reminiscent of that featured in the show (it used to be out front but kept getting hit). While the owners were not in-house tonight, I really was in the mood for a quality meal and decided this would hit the spot. The visit started off a bit rough as I waited several minutes for service - the person manning the front believed I was with another party (NOTE: I will say this was a bit of a stereotype since there was another wheelchair in that party). It took them leaving and me staying for her to realize I actually needed service. Once that got straightened out, however, things were fine and familiar as I've always enjoyed both food and service here. I was taken to a comfortable table. It's worth noting that there's two floors to this restaurant and there's actually an elevator (the staircase is obvious; the elevator not as much but is available). Parking in this area is either alongside the building or around the courthouse. Parking is free with a 2-hour time limit around the courthouse. For disabled parking, the time limit is 5 hours. This actually is a neat little square, though it's not all accessible. Mayberry itself has a nicely done concrete ramp into the restaurant. My server, Jenn, was super friendly and helpful. She seemed surprised when I asked about the owners (I was secretly hoping they'd be in, though I knew a Sunday evening would make it unlikely). I ordered one of their specials - a 3-piece chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and one veggie for $15.99. I got my usual unsweetened iced tea. This food really is about true southern cooking. It's not glamorous. It's not knock your socks off. It's simply good southern cooking at a fair price. I preferred my mashed potatoes without gravy and that's how I got it. The chicken was delicious. The mashed potatoes were wonderful. I was less fond of the cole slaw I also ordered - I doubt I would order it again. I got my usual iced tea refill. Customers were friendly. Employees were friendly - one, in particular, raved about the job and was excited I knew the owners. She raved about them. This was a rather poignant visit for me coming off my father's death last week and funeral earlier this week. Yet, it felt healing to revisit the place and remember family visits. My parents loved this place and my mother, in particular, loved the owners. These days, I'm going places that make me feel better and that's what happened here. I still don't live close, but this visit really reminded me that Mayberry Cafe is worth going out of the way. read more

Very very delicious chicken and more delicious apple pie, I haven't been to this place but it was supposed to give the vibe from the tv show Andy Griffith, I've seen the show and other people that love the show also loves this place. The service was good, there was a hiccup where one of our companions side didn't get to the table until later in the meal but she was apologetic and it was still good. As a classic TV fan, I was so excited to see this cafe! I binge-watched Andy Griffith, Mayberry RFD, and Gomer Pyle USMC from lockdown-onward, so it was particularly fun to stop by this restaurant. Until May 22, 2026 it would be a yes to this restaurant. On that day we had ordered our food. Then were ask if we drove a red Toyota. It had been hit. While standing outside in the rain giving the police our information they came outside and announced "your food is ready". Not able to even look at food (my car with 19,000 miles was in bad shape. $9,000 I later found out later) we ask our food be packed up. We later went inside after the police has finished to find cold food setting on our table. We ask again to box it up. NOPE ! They just dropped off boxes and our bill. read more

I had not been to Mayberry Cafe when I was a kid and took my son recently. I love the charm of the restaurant. The food is hearty comfort food. I had the breaded tenderloin and Mac and cheese and enjoyed it. My son liked his pizza, but his favorite part was the kids meal token. Kids can use their token to get a treat at the "general store" or they can trade it in for ice cream. Our server was very sweet and our wait time wasn't bad at all. Let's start with AMAZING! I have always loved a good tenderloin, and have heard many great things about this one for a long time. To put it mildly it did not disappoint! The tenderloin here is big, and delicious. Hands down places it in top 3 I have ever had, probably even best. I've wanted to eat at Mayberry cafe for some time and I finally had my chance. First we had some pretzel knots with cheese dipping sauce that were fantastic. For my meal I had the black and bleu burger with fries. The burger was great with plenty of bleu cheese crumbles and lots of bacon. The fries were really good as well. I had some cheese sauce left over from the pretzel bites that I dipped my fries in. The experience was great with good food and friendly service. I can't wait to come back. read more

My family chose to meet at Mayberry Cafe for lunch since there aren't really many options in the immediate area and several people in my family are fans of Andy Griffith show. The theme of the restaurant is really neat. They have a lot of cool pictures and it's decorated like they are in Mayberry. The hostess was nice too. We all ordered and it didn't take too long for our food to arrive. I was quite disappointed with the fish and chips. I looked at other reviews and photos on yelp before we arrived so i had already decided that i would order the fish and chips or chicken wings. Old photos of the menu showed they had chicken wings but they no longer offer them on the menu. The photos i saw were older and they had good size pieces of fish. What i received were about the size of chicken tenders and they tasted like fish that could be gotten from the frozen food section of the grocery store. Wouldn't do that again. Several others in our group got the cheeseburger and it looked very good. Because the burger looked good, i went back with my daughter a couple weeks later. I fully intended on getting the burger but when we arrived, we were told that the special was chicken wings. I thought that was great because that was what i wanted to try on my first visit. I ordered the chicken wings and when they came out, i was once again disappointed. The taste of the wings were okay but they were so TINY, and probably the smallest wings I've ever had/seen. I still want to try the burger because it did look so good. I just haven't been happy with either of my first two visits. read more

Food was excellent! Fried biscuit were yummy start. All 3 of our entrees were incredible: Rueben, Chicken Sandwich, and Tenderloin. One of the best flavored, least greasy tenderloins I've ever had!!! Usually themed restaurants aren't known for their tasty foods, but Mayberry Cafe far exceeded all expectations - clean restaurant, great value, delicious food, fun atmosphere, super kind staff. In my 3rd trip to the Mayberry Cafe, I feel like I have a good feel for whats good and what's not. First of all, their sides are all good - I've tried 8 different sides that they offer. The chicken has a great original flavor. They do a nice job of catering to the children in our party with tokens for ice cream sundaes and toys, along with dry erase boards to play with. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. They weren't busy at all when we arrived and we waited a long time but then waited even longer for the food to arrive. In all, our party of 6 spent 2 hours and 20 mins at the restaurant. Our table wasn't checked on very often and this tainted our experience more than anything. In my previous visits, I waited for less time, during busier times with less people in our party. read more

Like eating at your grandma's house. The wallpapers walls and mismatched furniture take you right back to a different time. Instead of music, they have multiple tv's showing The AndyGriffith show as background noise. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. I am always down for rolls before my meal and the cinnamon butter was delicious. The other surprise was cloth napkins instead of paper. I had the breaded tenderloin which was fried perfectly with crispy French fries. My mom had the pork schnitzel with Mac and cheese and my brother had the whiskey burger with fries. I wish we had room for dessert since it all sounded delicious but we were full. The menu is huge so it was hard to choose just one meal. Danville is a little out of the way for us but it was a nice treat for my mom's birthday. read more

Food was the best. We had a roast beef manhattan that was excellent . We sat on the second floor by the window with a great view of downtown. Watched the TV while we waited. We were waited on right away and didn't have to wait long for our meal. We got big portions which was great. My husband got pie for dessert that was awesome I was too full. We had a little with the slaw my husband hit but we let them know right away and they checked on it to make sure everything was ok. Prices are reasonable so we will definitely be back.
